Title
Parole Absconder create DUST SCREEN to flee from Arkansas State Police Trooper's pursuit #chase
Description
Report:
On 8/14/2025 at approximately 2135 hours, I, Trooper First Class Philip Gonten observed a tan Chevrolet Colorado (AR
BEY54R) traveling east on US Highway 62 make a right turn onto S. Johnson Street with a brake light out on the driver’s side
along with when I ran the vehicle registration through my in-car terminal it showed to have unconfirmed insurance. I activated
my emergency blue lights as the vehicle turned onto Bufford Cutoff. The vehicle continued on Bufford Cutoff, and I activated my
air horn before the vehicle came to a stop on Bufford Cutoff near Red Bud Rd. I exited my patrol vehicle and contacted the
driver.
I advised him who I was and the reason for the traffic stop. I asked the Driver for his driver's license and insurance, but
he stated that he did not have a license. I asked him if he was suspended, and he stated, “Yes.” I asked him what his name
was, and he said Jacob Langston. I asked for his birthdate, which he said was 5/15/1984. I returned to my vehicle to check the
information that he had given me, and I was not getting any information on Mr. Langston. While I was still in my vehicle, Mr.
Langston put the truck in drive and fled.
I advised Dispatch of the pursuit, and Mr. Langston ran the stop sign at the intersection
with Red Bud Rd. and continued on Bufford Cutoff Rd. Mr. Langston was driving very recklessly, traveling eastbound in the
westbound lane of Bufford Cutoff and exceeding the speed limit at times, reaching speeds over 80mph in a 40mph zone. Mr.
Langston continued on Bufford Cutoff and at the intersection with State Highway 126 (Bufford Rd.) Mr. Langston ran the stop
sign and continued across the Highway onto County Road 606 (Hidden Valley Rd.)
This was a gravel road, and due to the dust,
I had to back away from the vehicle as visibility became low. Mr. Langston continued fleeing on CR 606, driving extremely
recklessly. Once the visibility became too low and I could no longer see the vehicle, I terminated the pursuit at the end of CR
606. After this, Baxter County 911 advised that a caller stated they saw the vehicle travel past their residence near the end of
CR 606. I spoke to a neighbor who advised that there was a field at the end of the road with a locked gate. I located the field,
and the gate had been run through. With the assistance of the Mountain Home Police Department Drone, I was able to locate
the vehicle, which was unoccupied, approximately ½ mile into the woods. Mr. Langston had fled on foot. After a search of the
area, he was unable to be located. It was determined that Mr. Langston had lied about his name and birth date (which I confirmed was Mr. Joshua Langston via his description and picture).
He is a Parole Absconder and has
warrants with the Gassville Police Department. The vehicle was searched, inventoried, and impounded. Marion County
Deputies spoke with the registered owner of the vehicle, Miss. Jennifer Wilson, who stated that Mr. Joshua Langston was the
person driving the truck and had also spoken with him while he was at the traffic stop. An Affidavit will be filed for an arrest
warrant to be issued for Mr. Joshua Langston.
Supplement: On 8/15/2025 I located, positively identified, and arrested Mr. Joshua Langston at the residence of the registered
owner, Jennifer Wilson, without incident. Mr. Langston was given his Miranda warning and denied the accusations of fleeing.
