She Took Every Charge So The Other Two Could Go Home || Bodycam
Description
A Georgia officer clocked a rental car at 91 in a 70 and pulled it over. Three women were inside. The driver didn't have the registration — the car was rented in a friend's name. She told the officer she was on her way to a funeral home to collect her son's death certificate and his belongings. Smelling marijuana, the officer made the three of them an offer in plain terms: be honest with me, and as long as it isn't a felony, I'll write a ticket and let you go. If I find something you've hidden, you go to jail. The driver took the deal. She admitted there were roaches in the car and probably some marijuana left. The officer told her that was all he wanted. Then the search found closer to an ounce, a set of scales, and a methamphetamine pipe in a bag on the back seat. She was handcuffed. On the roadside, without being asked, she told the officer the name she had written down wasn't her real one — an admission that became its own charge. And when officers said that if nobody claimed the bag everyone would be charged with everything, she said everything in the car was hers. The two passengers were not charged. She was convicted on six of seven counts, including possession with intent to distribute and trafficking in illegal drugs, under a negotiated plea. The sentences run concurrently: 20 years total, the first 5 in state prison, the remainder on probation, plus a $50,000 fine. 🚫 The passengers are blurred throughout. The driver's account of her son's death is presented as she gave it and is not treated as entertainment. 📁 SOURCE Body-worn camera footage — Georgia public record under the Georgia Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. § 50-18-70 et seq.
