ALTIMA drives out of PIT Maneuver, but I quickly caught by Arkansas State Police #pursuit #chase
Description
Trooper's Report:
On Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at approximately 12:34 AM, dispatch broadcasted North Little Rock Police Department
(NLRPD) was in pursuit of a stolen vehicle, on Interstate 30 westbound, asking for our assistance. The pursuit entered
Interstate 630 (I-630) westbound and I took the primary position near the 3 mile marker.
Shortly after taking primary, I performed a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) by using the driver side of my TVI bumper to make
contact with the passenger rear quarter of the suspect vehicle. This caused the suspect vehicle to rotate approximately 360
degrees clockwise. The suspect vehicle did not strike anything during the rotation, and the rotation itself did not disable the
vehicle, allowing the suspect to continue fleeing westbound on I-630.
The suspect, later identified as Dominik Cuenton, took the 3B exit, turned left (south) and continued his reckless flight the
wrong way on Pine Street. Cuenton fled, the wrong way, at approximately 70 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour, residential,
zone on Pine St. From Pine St. he turned right (west) on 21st St. where we reached approximately 50 miles per hour on a
narrow street in a residential area. He continued west on 21st St. and came to rest after striking the metal guardrail at the dead
end.
During the pursuit down Pine St., my car bottomed out as we crossed over 12th St. due to it being elevated in relation to Pine
St. I noticed damage to the the bottom of my painted bumper cover, my driver side wheel well liner, the plastic skid plate and
the bottom of the A/C condenser.
After striking the guardrail, Cuenton fled on foot south through yards to 22nd St. and west on 22nd St. While he was running, he
kept reaching into his pockets causing me to lose sight of his hands. As we crossed a fence and turned onto 22nd St., I
deployed my taser which was not effective due to his loose clothing. I deployed the second cartridge and it was also ineffective.
None of the probes punctured Cuenton's skin and I was not able to locate/recover them.
I caught up to him near Madison St. where I tackled him to the ground. Once on the ground, Cuenton did not resist and was
taken into custody with no incident. I noticed a white baggie, tied closed, with a lumpy shape consistent with those containing
Marijuana buds. I asked Cuenton if the baggie is what he was trying to retrieve to throw and he said yes. A NLRPD Officer
collected the suspected controlled substance.
After standing Cuenton up so a NLRPD Officer and I could search him, he started to go limp and said he had an iron deficiency
so I asked dispatch to contact an ambulance. MEMS responded and transported him to UAMS where he was evaluated and
released back into NLRPD's custody.
A.C. Lewis responded and towed the suspect vehicle for NLRPD.
NLRPD charged Cuenton with the following:
5-36-106: Theft by Receiving (C/F), 5-54-125: Fleeing - Vehicle (D/F), 5-64-419:
Possession of a Controlled Substance (A/M), 27-51-104: Careless and Prohibited Driving, 27-51-304: Driving Wrong Way on a
One-Way, 27-50-302: Speeding and 27-52-103: Disobeying a Traffic Control Device.
