Description
Charges: -fleeing -unauthorized use property to facilitate crime -no driver's license -criminal mischief in the first degree -reckless driving -failure to register -no proof of insurance -tail lamps and reflectors - violations Trooper's Report: On 8-5-2026 at approximately 11:24p.m. assistance from Alexander Police Department was requested in a vehicle pursuit. I was located near the Alcoa Road overpass which was the direction the pursuit was traveling. Alexander Police Officer advised that the suspect was traveling on the North Service Road heading west. I got onto the I-30 Frontage Road N and waited for further information from dispatch. The suspect vehicle, a gold Acura passenger car, passed me with several officers with lights and sirens activated behind it. I got involved at the Alcoa Road overpass on the I-30 Frontage Road N. I observed the suspect vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and swerving from left lane to right lane. Due to our location, I was aware that the suspect was traveling towards a work zone with ramps closed and one lane access that had workers present. I knew that I quickly needed to take the opportunity to perform a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) on the suspect vehicle. I sped up to the passenger side of his vehicle and the suspect braked resulting in loss of matched speeds. I then traveled to the driver’s side of the suspect vehicle and contacted his rear corner bumper area at 109 mph resulting in the suspect vehicle rotating counterclockwise into the grassy median between I-30 west and the I-30 Frontage Road N. Once the TVI was performed, I lost control of my steering and traveled to the north side of the road and onto the grassy shoulder. I attempted to regain control of my steering but due to speeds and roadway I was unable to. I struck the concrete culvert and drain at the corner of Deer Road and the I-30 Frontage Road N and came to rest on the I-30 Frontage Road facing south. My State Police vehicle was disabled due to impact and had to be towed from the scene. Once stopped, I observed through all the smoke and dust a male figure running across the Interstate. I exited my vehicle and gave chase. I saw the suspect jump over the concrete barrier wall and travel southeast towards the Jones Heating and Air business. Officer Robinson and I with the Bryant Police Department were able to catch the suspect behind the Plaza 1 suites and place him in custody without incident. The suspect, Tyrese Hampton, was escorted to the front of Plaza 1 to wait for other units and an ambulance for medical evaluation on Hampton. Hampton was transported to Saline Memorial Hospital and was assessed and then brought to the Saline County jail to be processed.
