MPD Announces Initiative to Combat Street Robberies, Smartphone Theft

Milwaukee Police are targeting north-side street robbers with a new data-driven initiative. It is a joint operation to reduce robberies, with detectives from the investigation bureau, officers from Districts 3 and 5, and the Intelligence Fusion Center. Analysts are assembling crime maps to deploy officers where they will have the most impact on reducing these robberies. Officers armed with information will be in squad cars, on motorcycles or bicycles, and on foot to gather street intelligence about who is committing these robberies and to share crime prevention tips.
