Title
Entitled Killer Wife Shocked When She Realizes She's Not Getting The Life Insurance Money
Description
Watch this police interrogation with intense raw interrogation from the interrogation room as police conduct a full interrogation of a suspect. This raw interrogation footage captures every moment of the suspect interview, complete with deception detection techniques, and criminal psychology in true JCS style interrogation.
The Background
Victim: Darwin Garcia Franco (also reported as Darwin Avid Garcia Franco), about 40, Kirkland, Washington contractor and father. He lived with his wife and their young son on the upper floor of a split-level home.
Wife/defendant (focus): Sahar Osama Fadaak (also styled Fadaak Sahar Osama A), Saudi national, then about 41. She and Franco had a young son (about 2 at the time of the flight). She also kept a separate apartment in Bellevue.
Co-defendant: Saif Raad Al-Obaidi (also Al Obaidi), then mid-30s, of Redmond. Prosecutors described him as a business associate of Franco and as Fadaak’s romantic partner from about January–May 2019. They met at her Bellevue apartment.
Other person in the home: Nelida Zuniga (identified in later reporting), a woman living downstairs with children. She tried to stop the attack and was seriously injured.
The Crime
Date/time: early hours of May 31, 2019, about 2:00 a.m.
Place: family residence in the 12900 block of 131st Avenue Northeast, Kirkland, Washington. No signs of forced entry reported.
Event (as charged): Al-Obaidi entered and attacked Franco while he was sleeping, stabbing him about 30 times. Franco died at the scene. Zuniga went upstairs after hearing commotion, tried to pull Al-Obaidi off Franco, and was stabbed about 18 times; she survived. Children in the home were not physically injured and called 911.
Planning / insurance (as alleged in charging papers and the Singapore extradition judgment):
May 22, 2019: Fadaak began seeking life insurance that would pay the maximum if Franco died.
She insisted coverage was needed immediately and did not want him to get a physical exam that could lower the premium.
May 28, 2019: she submitted an application for about $250,000 coverage, listing herself and their son as beneficiaries.
May 29, 2019: she was told he could not be insured because he was not a U.S. citizen. The policy did not issue.
Prosecution allegation about Fadaak at the scene: she was present and remained silent while Al-Obaidi attacked Franco a short distance away; afterward they had a brief conversation before he left and later called her.
The Investigation
Digital / relationship evidence cited in affidavits: phone records (including deleted call logs), photos of Fadaak and Al-Obaidi together (including on her birthday while Franco was out of town), and the insurance-application timeline.
Fadaak’s post-crime conduct: on September 4, 2019 she boarded a one-way flight to the UAE with their son. A $5 million arrest warrant was issued. The UAE had no U.S. extradition treaty. She was later found and arrested in Singapore on September 25, 2022 (Park Royal Hotel, Beach Road). The U.S. filed a formal extradition request on November 22, 2022.
Singapore court (Jan. 2023): District Judge Chee Min Ping found a strong enough case on first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder to commit her for extradition pending the Law Minister’s surrender order. Evidence cited included the autopsy, phone records, photos, insurance steps, and lack of forced entry.
Conviction and Sentencing
Saif Al-Obaidi: Charged in King County Superior Court (case 19-1-04059-5 SEA) with first-degree premeditated murder of Franco and first-degree attempted murder of Zuniga (deadly-weapon allegations). He pleaded not guilty in June 2019 and was held without bail. Charges were later amended (docket notes an amendment around March 28, 2022). A trial date set for late 2020 was continued. Widely available news reports through 2023 do not clearly publish a final jury verdict or sentence; treat trial outcome as not confirmed in the public sources reviewed here.
Sahar Fadaak: Charged in King County in October 2020 with premeditated first-degree murder and first-degree conspiracy to commit murder. She was a fugitive until the 2022 Singapore arrest. Singapore approved the legal path to extradition in January 2023. Public English-language reporting after that date does not clearly confirm her arrival in King County, a trial verdict, or a sentence. Status after the 2023 extradition order should be stated as not verified in the sources used for this summary.
