Title
September 30th, 2026 - Officer Involved Shooting - Video 2
Description
On Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at approximately 9:21 p.m., Milwaukee Police Department officers responded to a call for shots fired on the 1500 block of West Greenfield Avenue. When they arrived, residents flagged the officers down and pointed to dirt bikes that were leaving the area. Officers followed the group on dirt bikes to the alley in the 700 block of West Scott Street. As they were investigating the origin of the shots, they observed a masked suspect with a rifle. That suspect began to flee on foot.
An officer attempted to stop the suspect with the rifle and made numerous commands for the suspect to drop his weapon. The suspect disregarded these commands, and the officer discharged his duty weapon, striking the suspect. A rifle was recovered next to the suspect.
The suspect, a 17-year-old male, was taken to a local hospital for non-fatal injuries.
The officer that discharged his duty weapon during this incident is a 26-year-old male with over 3 years of service. The officer was placed on administrative duty as is routine in officer involved shooting investigations.
This is a fluid and ongoing investigation.
The Milwaukee Police Department’s Video Release Policy Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) 575, establishes criteria for when video evidence that captures officer-involved incidents that result in death or great bodily harm will be released to the public. This policy is intended to balance important interests, including the public’s interest in transparency and police accountability, the necessity of preserving the integrity of criminal and administrative investigations, and the privacy interests of individuals depicted in such videos (including victims, witnesses, bystanders, and the individuals against whom force is used). This policy creates a presumption of release. It is our goal to release video in officer involved incidents according to SOP 575 within 15 days of the incident.
Charges were referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.
Viewer discretion is advised.
