Title
Passenger JUMPS from moving Camry during Arkansas State Police pursuit #chase #pit
Description
Trooper's Narrative:
I was patrolling Arch Street when I observed a black Toyota Camry traveling north with improper window tint. I got behind the
suspect vehicle and attempted a traffic stop by activating my emergency lights and sirens. The vehicle continued driving at
speeds of 55 MPH in a 45 MPH zone, passing numerous places to stop.
The vehicle turned onto West 33rd Street from Arch Street and continued driving. On West 33rd Street at South Gains Street,
the vehicle slowed, and the front passenger opened the door and fled north on South Gains Street. After the passenger fled the
stop, the vehicle continued driving west on West 33rd Street. Using my vehicle, I conducted a tactical vehicle intervention,
stopping the car.
The driver, Rahim Basir, and the 3rd passenger, Braylen Muhammed, were taken into
custody without further incident. The front-seat passenger who fled the scene was not identified or located.
Muhammed was released on scene, and Basir was transported to the Pulaski County Jail without further incident.
Basir was charged with the following:
5-54-125(d)(5)(A): FLEEING - FELONY - VEHICLE OR CONVEYANCE - EXCEEDING SPEED LIMIT - EXIT FLEE ON FOOT
27-37-306: DRIVING VEHICLE IMPROPER WINDOW TINTING
27-49-107: FAIL TO OBEY POLICE OFFICER
27-22-104: NO LIABILITY INSURANCE
