95 MPH Traffic Stop Turns Into Triple-Digit Honda Chase on I-55

What began with a speeding Honda Insight on Interstate 55 quickly developed into a dangerous nighttime pursuit through Crittenden County. According to the official Arkansas State Police report, Trooper Hunter Hill observed a silver 2020 Honda Insight merging onto I-55 northbound near Mile Marker 10. Radar reportedly showed the Honda traveling 95 MPH in a posted 75 MPH zone. Trooper Hill caught up and initiated a traffic stop near Mile Marker 12. The Honda pulled onto the shoulder and came to a stop, but as Hill exited his patrol vehicle and began approaching, the driver allegedly shifted back into drive and suddenly accelerated away. The pursuit quickly reached triple-digit speeds. According to the report, the Honda continuously changed lanes, nearly rear-ended another motorist, and made a last-second maneuver onto the Exit 14 ramp while crowding another vehicle. The driver then allegedly traveled northbound on the service road using the southbound lane before eventually merging back onto Interstate 55. With significant traffic ahead and the Honda continuing to be driven in a manner the trooper described as an immediate danger to the public, Trooper Hill had to make a critical decision.
