Operation Rolling Thunder 8/31/18

If you noticed some extra law enforcement activity last night, deputies were running a Crime Suppression Operation on the east side of Volusia County. They made 10 felony arrests and 13 misdemeanor arrests and seized about 15 grams of heroin, 3 grams of methamphetamine, 2.7 grams of Xanax, 6.2 grams of Hydromorphone and three firearms. In one case, a bag of heroin was found next to a stolen gun in a vehicle occupied by a suspect with a 2015 felony conviction for robbery. In all, we made 218 traffic stops, many of which resulted in traffic citations or simple verbal warnings. Many of these were actually positive encounters with drivers who understood these deputies are just out doing their jobs. Here's Sgt. Cody Cochran telling us about his work with the Crime Suppression Team. Thanks and great work CST!
