Title
Police Recruits Accept ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, Donate Money
Description
On August 20, 2014, Milwaukee Police Recruit Class 2-2014 accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge from Mayor Tom Barrett. The class was joined by Chief Edward Flynn who was challenged today by Milwaukee County Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. Class 2-2014 has challenged the Milwaukee Fire Cadets and Chief Flynn has challenged Alderman Bob Donovan. The class and Chief Edward Flynn also donated money to the ALS Foundation. After seeing the Mayor challenge them on the news last night, Police Recruit Derek Ertl talked with his father, MFD Lt. Ricky Erlt who works at the Fire Academy, to help coordinate 35 buckets and use of the fire hydrant. Unlike some people using only water, there was a lot of ice used in this challenge. Recruit Eulia Kazachenko, who worked as a bartender for 15 years before joining the Police Academy, called friends who own The Bubbler on Milwaukee's southside and they brought over a truckload of ice to fill the buckets. The recruits were joined by their supervising Sergeants John Rupcic and Justin Sebestyen.
