Detectives Warn of Rising Online Sextortion Cases - Talking Beat

Detectives from a specialized unit focused on online child exploitation are raising awareness about a growing threat targeting youth: online sextortion. These cases often involve individuals posing as peers to gain trust, then using threats to demand money or additional images. Investigators emphasize early reporting and open communication. Community members are encouraged to talk with youth about online safety, recognize warning signs, and seek help immediately if something occurs. Support is available, and reporting quickly can help prevent further harm.
