Title
PURSUIT w/ Dodge Durango trying to get back to Memphis at 100+ MPH - Overturns after PIT Maneuver
Description
Trooper's Narrative:
On August 2, 2023, at approximately 9:42 P.M., I attempted to make a traffic stop on a 2021 Dodge Durango on Interstate 40
westbound for speeding. The Durango was bearing Tennessee tag BLM4202. The Durango took the 281 exit onto Mound City
Road. The Durango then accelerated, passing a truck on the right shoulder before going south on Mound City Road.
The Durango then made a left turn and headed back east on Interstate 40.
The Durango accelerated at speeds of over 100 mph. The Durango approached the 282-mile marker splitting two eastbound
vehicles and pushing one of them to the left shoulder. The Durango continued eastbound on Interstate 40, driving with no
regard for the safety of other motorists. The Durango slowed by other eastbound traffic, allowing me to use a Tactical Vehicle
Intervention on the fleeing Durango. This TVI caused the Durango to lose control and strike the concrete wall on the south side
of Interstate 40. The Durango overturned and came to rest on the south shoulder of Interstate 40.
The occupants of the Durango were given verbal commands and taken into custody without incident.
Pending charges are:
Speeding,
Fleeing in a Vehicle (Felony),
Reckless Driving,
Following to Close,
Improper Passing, and
Improper Lane Usage.
