Title
BAD Mother in Dodge Charger flees Arkansas State Police w/ toddler -Vehicle overturns (kid unharmed)
Description
Trooper's Report:
On May 2, 2026, at approximately 2:33 PM, I, Trooper Teddy Henderson, attempted to conduct a traffic stop on State Highway
118 in Joiner for a speed violation, which resulted in a pursuit, a tactical vehicle intervention, and a felony arrest.
I was eastbound on Hwy 118 on the west side of Interstate 55 when I observed a red Dodge Charger ahead of me going in the
same direction at a high rate of speed. I switched my front-facing radar to “same direction” and got a consistent reading on the
Charger at 80-81 miles per hour in a 55 MPH zone. By the time I closed the distance between the suspect vehicle and me, the
Charger was approaching the I-55 overpass.
Once we crossed the overpass, I initiated the traffic stop and notified Jonesboro dispatch. After I activated my blue lights, the
suspect vehicle (driven by Thalia Jones) accelerated and fled eastbound toward the Joiner city limits. I immediately advised
dispatch of the pursuit, and I activated my siren. I followed close behind Jones with lights and sirens activated and gave her
ample opportunity to pull over for nearly a mile before I performed a TVI (tactical vehicle intervention). When I moved in close
behind Jones' vehicle, Jones swerved over into the oncoming lane to prevent me from positioning my car for the TVI. In order
to complete my TVI, I then put my front bumper in the center of Jones’ rear bumper, accelerated and steered to the right,
causing Jones’ to go left, off the roadway. Jones lost control of the vehicle immediately and ran over a sign, a residential
mailbox, and then impacted the side of the residential driveway, causing Jones' vehicle to come back across the road into a
field, and overturn, coming to final rest upside down.
I exited my unit with my patrol rifle and stood behind my car with the suspect vehicle at gunpoint, awaiting the arrival of other
officers. While waiting, the rear driver's side door opened on Jones’ vehicle, and a three-year-old boy walked towards me. I
picked the boy up and sat him on the hood of my vehicle as Jones crawled out of the car behind the child. I instructed Jones to
crawl towards the front of my car, and I placed her under arrest. I confirmed the toddler to be Jones’ biological son, who was
released to an adult on scene with the permission of Jones. Both Jones and her son were cleared by EMS on scene and were
able to be released medically.
Juney Smith Towing towed the vehicle to their yard in Osceola. I transported Jones to the ER in Osceola to be cleared again at
the request of the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office. After Jones was cleared at the ER, I transported her to MCSO jail, where
she was booked and charged with:
Speeding-More than 15 Over, Reckless Driving, Fleeing-Vehicle or Conveyance, Driving On
Suspended License, Endangering the Welfare of a Minor 1st Degree, and Unauthorized Use of another Person’s Property to
Facilitate a Crime (the car belonged to her boyfriend).
She also has a FTA warrant, which she
will be held on as well until Jonesboro can pick her up.
I reported the incident to the Arkansas Child Abuse Hotline since there was a child involved.
