Title
Driver w/ felony warrants & car full of drugs refuses to stop for Arkansas State Police - PIT TIME
Description
Trooper's Report: At approximately 5:23 PM on August 21, 2026, I, Trooper Carter Lazenby, initiated a traffic stop on a black Ford Fusion after confirming the identity of the driver as Tylon King. King was confirmed to have active felony warrants through the Blytheville Police Department. Immediately upon initiation of the traffic stop, King accelerated away from the scene and began fleeing eastbound on East Moultrie Drive near 1st Street. The vehicle continued eastbound past Ruddle Road, disregarding a posted stop sign and passing multiple vehicles despite heavy traffic conditions. At approximately 5:24 PM, while traveling eastbound on East Moultrie Drive near North Lockard Street, I attempted a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) on the suspect vehicle. As I initiated the maneuver, the suspect vehicle abruptly applied its brakes, causing the vehicles to make contact and resulting in a sideswipe with my patrol unit. The collision caused damage to the passenger side of my patrol unit. I subsequently initiated a second TVI, successfully striking the suspect vehicle at approximately 36 MPH. The maneuver brought the vehicle to a stop and ended the pursuit. A felony takedown was then performed, and King was taken into custody without further incident. Following the arrest, King complained of head pain and was observed to have a small scratch on the left side of his face. King also displayed noticeably lethargic behavior. Due to his reported head pain and observed condition, Pafford EMS responded to the scene and evaluated King. King was cleared by EMS for transport and was subsequently transported to the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office. During an inventory of the vehicle, a black bag was located inside the vehicle. Inside the black bag, a green tube containing approximately 0.5 grams of methamphetamine (field tested positive) and 29 pills identified as Xanax. Approximately 3 grams of marijuana, a package of rolling papers, and five cut straws consistent with narcotics consumption were also located inside the black bag. An open container of alcohol was located on the passenger-side floorboard adjacent to the black bag. Seven cellular phones and one tablet were also seized from the vehicle. All seized evidence was subsequently turned over to the 2nd Judicial Drug Task Force. After King was transported to the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office, I continued my investigation into his possible impairment. King continued to display an unusually lethargic demeanor and was unable to successfully perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. King was read the Arkansas Statement of Rights and proceeded to sign the Arkansas Statement of Rights form, refusing to submit to a chemical test for alcohol or controlled substances required by law. King was transported to and booked into the Mississippi County Detention Center on the following charges: Felony Fleeing in a Vehicle, Reckless Driving in the First Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Possession of a Schedule I, II, and VI Controlled Substance, DWI 1st Offense (Drugs), Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test, Open Container, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and multiple traffic violations.
