Driver Hits Parked Car Before Failing DUI Tests and Getting Arrested

What began as a suspected DUI investigation quickly became a tense encounter. Officers observed the driver’s erratic driving and damage to another vehicle before calling in a Drug Recognition Expert to conduct standardized field sobriety exercises. During the investigation, the driver identified himself as an international student from India attending UCF. He acknowledged drinking alcohol and argued that his body weight and the amount he consumed meant he was still legally able to drive. Officers explained that they could not determine his exact blood alcohol concentration simply by looking at him and instead evaluated his driving behaviour and physical performance. The bodycam footage captures the entire DUI investigation, including the questioning, alcohol-related statements, field sobriety testing, repeated confusion over the instructions, and the tense moments leading up to the arrest. After the sobriety exercises, officers placed the driver under arrest for driving under the influence. He was transported to the Orange County DUI Testing Canter, where he provided a breath sample registering 0.135 BAC, well above Florida's legal limit of 0.08. He was later transported to the Orange County Jail and booked on a charge of driving under the influence.
