Title
Killer Mom Dumped Her 6 Year Old Son Into the Ohio River, Then Reports Him Missing the Same Morning
Description
Brittany Gosney Has No Idea Police Already Know What Happened to Her 6-Year-Old Son
In February 2021, 29-year-old Brittany Gosney walked into the Middletown Division of Police claiming her 6-year-old son, James Hutchinson, had disappeared overnight. Calmly describing a missing child, she retraced the morning she said he vanished and pleaded for help finding him.
Detectives immediately began examining her timeline.
Over the course of a three-hour interrogation, investigators carefully challenged inconsistencies in Brittany's account. What began as a missing child investigation gradually evolved into a homicide investigation as her version of events repeatedly changed under questioning. As detectives confronted her with contradictions, she eventually described the events that led to James's death and the disposal of his body.
This documentary presents the complete police interrogation, examining the investigative techniques used by detectives, the progression of the interview, and how evidence and strategic questioning led to critical admissions.
James Robert Hutchinson was six years old and a first-grade student at Rosa Parks Elementary School. Despite extensive search efforts involving sonar teams, dive crews, and multiple law enforcement agencies, his body was never recovered from the Ohio River.
Following the investigation, Brittany Gosney pleaded guilty to murder and two counts of child endangering. She was sentenced to life in prison with parole eligibility after 21 years. Her boyfriend, James Hamilton, pleaded guilty to multiple felony offenses, including kidnapping and gross abuse of a corpse, and received a prison sentence of 15 to 19 years.
