What began as a traffic stop on Interstate 430 developed into an extremely dangerous Arkansas State Police pursuit involving a Dodge Ram pickup, interstate traffic, speeds exceeding 100 MPH, and multiple troopers.
According to the official report, Corporal Elkins attempted to stop a silver 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 on I-430 South near Exit 4. Shortly afterward, the pickup allegedly fled, beginning a pursuit that eventually continued onto Interstate 30 West.
The report states that the Ram was driven at a high rate of speed, traveled with its lights turned off, and passed civilian vehicles using the shoulders of the interstate and service roads.
Trooper Austin Green joined the pursuit near the I-30 North Service Road and eventually became the primary unit near Mile Marker 122. Green reported seeing the pickup pass vehicles on the left shoulder and swerve across every lane while attempting to evade troopers.
With the pickup continuing through the interstate corridor, Trooper Green positioned his patrol vehicle alongside it and waited for an area clear of civilian traffic before attempting a Tactical Vehicle Intervention.
According to the report, the maneuver occurred near Mile Marker 120 while the vehicles were traveling approximately 106 MPH.
