Description On September 18, 2026, Arkansas State Police Trooper Holly Romero was patrolling U.S. Highway 371 near Nevada County Road 285 when she observed a red passenger car traveling significantly faster than surrounding traffic. Trooper Romero's radar reportedly registered the vehicle traveling 69 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. She turned around and activated her emergency lights and siren while attempting to catch up. The driver then accelerated to more than 100 MPH, passing other vehicles at high speed and repeatedly passing traffic on the left through curves marked with double yellow lines. Trooper Romero continued the pursuit at speeds exceeding 120 MPH but eventually lost sight of the vehicle. She then followed a trail of fresh dust onto Nevada County Road 51 before receiving information that a potential suspect vehicle had been stopped by Prescott Police. The vehicle was located near U.S. Highway 67 and State Highway 332. The red Hyundai Sonata had no license plate, and fresh dirt was visible across the vehicle. Trooper Romero confirmed it was the vehicle involved in the pursuit. According to the report, the driver admitted that he fled because he did not have insurance. He was taken into custody without incident, and the vehicle was impounded. Incident Details Date: September 18, 2026 Time: Approximately 6:53 PM Location: U.S. Highway 371 / Nevada County Road 285, Nevada County, Arkansas Vehicle: 2020 Hyundai Sonata Color: Red Officer: Trooper Holly Romero #579 Agency: Arkansas State Police, Troop G Supervisor: Sgt. Ryne Shelton #177 Initial Speed: 69 MPH in a 55 MPH zone Reported Pursuit Speed: Vehicle exceeded 100 MPH Trooper Speed: Exceeded 120 MPH Vehicle Status: Impounded Towing Service: Prescott Auto The report identifies the vehicle as unregistered and records no insurance. The vehicle was ultimately taken to Prescott Auto in Prescott, Arkansas. Pursuit Highlights Trooper Romero observed a red passenger car traveling faster than surrounding traffic. Radar registered the vehicle at 69 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. Trooper Romero turned around and attempted to catch up. Emergency lights and siren were activated. The suspect accelerated to more than 100 MPH. The vehicle passed northbound traffic at high speed. The driver repeatedly passed traffic across double yellow lines. Trooper Romero reached speeds exceeding 120 MPH while attempting to catch the vehicle. The trooper temporarily lost sight of the suspect. Fresh dust from a recently traveled dirt road helped indicate the vehicle's route. The vehicle was later located after Prescott Police stopped a potential suspect. The Hyundai was found without a license plate. Fresh dirt was visible across the vehicle. The driver admitted fleeing because he did not have insurance. The driver was taken into custody without incident. The vehicle was inventoried and impounded. Official Charges Unlike some reports where charges have to be inferred, this report specifically documents the charges filed against the driver: Felony Fleeing — Vehicle or Conveyance — Exceeding the Speed Limit Reckless Driving — 1st No Liability Insurance Owner Fail to Register Vehicle — Expired Tags The report therefore gives us a much stronger basis for the charges section than simply listing possible violations. Evidence Shown in the Report The photographs on pages 4 and 5 show the red Hyundai Sonata after the pursuit. The vehicle has substantial dirt and dust across the rear and sides, consistent with the report's description of the vehicle traveling onto a dirt road. The photographs also show the vehicle stopped near the roadway/shoulder area. #ArkansasStatePolice #PolicePursuit #Dashcam
