Agg assault/battery suspect caught hiding on boat

5/29/2018: Adam Pilling, 31, was sought by the New Smyrna Beach Police Department on charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement, grand theft auto and domestic battery. Last night, Adam struck his girlfriend multiple times as she attempted to leave what she described as an abusive relationship. Adam stole her car and drove it at her, chasing the victim through parking lots and attempting to hit her. She had to cut through some bushes to escape. She made it to safety inside a business, and Adam fled. Adam also fled from a responding NSBPD officer, and ultimately crashed through a fence. He ran away and hid on a boat. He hid until VCSO Air One easily spotted him and directed units on the ground to his location. Adam was carrying several counterfeit $50 and $20 bills, and had more counterfeit money in a safe in the car. He was additionally charged with possession of 10 or more counterfeit notes, driving with a suspended license and leaving the scene of a crash with property damage. Adam also had open warrants for theft, uttering forged bills and violation of probation on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. As of this afternoon, Adam is sitting in jail without bond.
