Milwaukee Police Department Community Briefing - February 7, 2023, Officer Involved Shooting

As a part of the Community Briefing Series, the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) is releasing relevant information regarding an officer involved shooting that occurred on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, on the 2700 block of South 14th Street. The Community Briefing video series was created by MPD to promote transparency and accountability with the public and to provide relevant information about critical incidents. MPD’s goal is to continue to release relevant video regarding critical incidents within a reasonable amount of time after the incident unless releasing such video would jeopardize the integrity of the investigation. While no policy is currently in place, MPD strives to release relevant video footage in the form of the Community Briefing within 45 days of an incident. In this case, given the circumstances, MPD was unable to meet that timeline. The final family notification was completed this afternoon and to be fully transparent to the public, we are releasing the briefing without any further delay. Pursuant to the Milwaukee Police Department’s Standard Operating Procedure, a critical incident that involves the death or great bodily harm of a person will be investigated by an outside and independent law enforcement agency. This incident is being investigated by the Milwaukee Area Investigative Team and the Brookfield Police Department is the lead agency. Viewer discretion is advised.
