RAW San Antonio Police Critical Incident Video Release: 6700 Spring Front

Consistent with our Critical Incident Video Release Procedure, SAPD is releasing video from an Officer Involved Shooting that occurred on August 16, 2026, in the 6700 Blk Spring Front Dr. Below is a brief synopsis: Shortly before midnight, officers were dispatched to the 6700 block of Spring Front Drive for a disturbance involving a gun. The caller reported that individuals were in his backyard with a gun. An officer arrived and observed the male, who had called police, holding two large knives. The male turned toward the officer and advanced in his direction. The officer gave the male commands to drop the knives. However, the male did not comply with the commands and ran toward the officer. The officer fired his weapon, striking the male. The suspect, Gregory Boaz, 56, was pronounced deceased at the scene. No officers or bystanders were injured. The officer involved has one year of service with the San Antonio Police Department, as listed below. The SAPD Shooting Team and the Internal Affairs Unit are conducting separate but concurrent inquiries.
