Nissan 350Z driver flees from car meetup - Arkansas State Police take control & end pursuit w/ PIT
Description
Report: On May 3rd, 2026, at approximately 12:08 am, the Saline County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) notified Troop A Communication Center that they were involved in a vehicle pursuit on Chicot Road, coming into Pulaski County, and requested the assistance of the Arkansas State Police. I activated my emergency blue lights and siren and responded to intercept the pursuit. At 12:23 am, I intercepted the pursuit on Baseline Road at Interstate 30 in the City of Little Rock. I observed a gray and blue 2004 Nissan 350Z, bearing fictitious Texas license plate MCR5097, traveling eastbound on Baseline Road at approximately 100 miles per hour without its lights on. I turned behind the vehicle and notified the Troop A Communication Center that I was in pursuit. The fleeing 350Z ran the red light at the busy intersection of Baseline Road and Interstate 30 and continued to pass innocent motorists, reaching speeds of 118 miles per hour. Trp. Jackson Shumate #242 joined the pursuit as secondary and took responsibility for radio communication. As we passed Production Drive, I positioned my patrol car on the 350Z’s right side to attempt a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI). As I did this, the 350Z countered my movement and brake checked me to avoid the TVI. I then placed my front left bumper on the right side of the 350Z and turned left, causing the fleeing vehicle to rotate in a clockwise motion. The 350Z rotated and came to final rest in the eastbound outside traffic lane, facing south, ending the pursuit. After coming to final rest, Trp. Shumate, a SCSO Deputy and I performed a felony traffic stop. As the deputy apprehended the driver, Mr. Marco A. Garcia. At this point, SCSO took over the investigation of the vehicle pursuit. They charged Mr. Garcia accordingly and released Mr. Mendez-Guardado without charges.
