Trooper Permenter conducts textbook PIT Maneuver on fleeing Mazda 3 -Arkansas State Police #pursuit

Trooper's Narrative: On 7/25/2023, I, Trooper Keri Permenter, was actively patrolling on Highway 165. I observed a dark blue, 2009 Mazda 3 with no license plate traveling south on Highway 165. I got behind the vehicle and activated my emergency lights. The vehicle turned into the Circle K gas station and continued to drive through the parking lot. I activated my emergency siren and the vehicle accelerated out of the parking lot, turning south onto Highway 165. Trooper Cash observed the traffic stop attempt and became the second unit in the pursuit. The vehicle increased speeds to 54mph in a 50 MPH zone while the driver waved out the window. After clearing occupied driveways, I conducted a tactical vehicle intervention on the passenger side of the vehicle. The vehicle traveled off the roadway to the right and came to rest facing east in a deep grassy ditch. The driver and only occupant, Mark HUFF, was given commands to exit the vehicle and lay on the ground. HUFF was taken into custody without incident by myself, Trooper Cash, and Trooper Goins. Four glass smoking devices were located inside of a container in the vehicle. The vehicle was towed by AC Lewis. HUFF was taken to Springhill Baptist Hospital to be cleared and the Pulaski County Detention Center.
