Louisiana State Police multiple Sheriff officers and City police West B Rouge Parish on April 16 2022 Troopers with the Louisiana State Police Troop a p to DOD around going 70 mph in a 60 MPH Zone The Trooper then conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle the trooper made contact with the vehicle and identified the driver Miguel H and his wife Maria L how you doing man how you doing step over here St right here Trooper Jacks with Louisiana State Police man I P when you got on the interstate you spit up you was doing 70 and 60 is any easy driving oh no sir you have your license registration people you got the rest of your information in the car yes sir who else is in there with you my wife your wife who else is somebody in the back look at your stuff when ask where they are coming from the driver Miguel H told Troopers that he and his wife are coming from Houston and going to New Orleans where y'all coming from we going to we going to French Quarters French Quarter where you coming from Houston Houston what's in the French Quarter has it and here me talk to you after talking to the driver and a passenger the trooper noticed suspicious activity and asked can he search the vehicle you have the right to remain silent anything you said can be used against your court of law you have the right toess attorney you got attorney want be to PRI question you're have the right to come this interview at any time you the this R to is anything in that vehicle need to know to be honest with you but if I have to get a dog to run it what would I nothing what would I find what was in it excuse diabetic oh okay yeah is the for 14 days my diabetes diabetes after talking to the wife the trooper asked the driver if he had a license which he didn't hey do you have a driver's license cuz you gave me an ID she was driving earli but I took but she was driving but you don't have a driver car no I know I took first he was after both Troopers talk to Miguel the Troopers observe Miguel is being really nervous I know shifting his way back and forth while waiting for the K9 the trooper then use a translation app so he can communicate with Miguel's wife [Music] those were your Miranda Rights oh okay okay no problem do you understand yes why were you guys going to New Orleans the two turism tourista and photos picture food NE uh what were you going to do with necklaces good time and good time is the the Oh you mean be yes oh okay never mind yes when the K9 show up from another agency it goes around the vehicle and gives a positive alert for Narcotics narcotics over okay has anything like that been in the car is this your vehicle you don't let anybody borrow it or anything okay awesome so look dog I'm not going to let him bite you but I'm going to get you to come back here with safe police with these two guys you and this is this young ladyes girlfriend f F okay I just got here I didn't know so I'm going to get y'all to come out I'm going to make sure yall safe back here by them before I ever get the dog out and I'm going to run him around outside of your vehicle okay [Music] gu you K see you go get B the trooper then search the vehicle he said passenger side and then Troopers find a fnn 5.7 pistol and a t revolver I got another one hey as the Troopers continue their search in the factory compartment of the truck they find a large amount of cocaine uh underneath that running board is uh I mean that both Miguel and Maria are placed under arrest hey do me a favor turn jam on you back what was that what and there packages we got which one you know what I'm talking about what I asked you because the last thing I wanted to do is this you knew that didn't you what is that the Troopers continue searching and found another 3 kg of cocaine concealed in the seat of the truck put yeah yeah she's in yours and he's in mine so these two were in here these three were in here underne this ZIP I took a picture of where where it was at I would open [Music] [Music] with Miguel and Cuffs in the back of the police car the trooper then try to get information from Miguel watch your leg who's gun is that by the way either both of them who they belong to you sure what about the uh the narcotics who who's that for I don't know huh I don't know you you don't know who it belongs to why was it in your truck I you're the only one who drives it right both Miguel and Maria were arrested and booking into the westbon Rouge Paris jail for possession with intent to the SC schedule one and illegal possession of weapons around a control danger substance I look to see what Maria sentence was for these charges but I couldn't find anything but Miguel was sentenced to 15 years hard labor for possession with intent to distribute schedule one with three years of that suspended and he was also sentenced to 10 years at hard labor without benefit of parole or suspended sentence for a legal possession of a weapon around a control danger substance the sentences ran concurrently [Music]
