and City police St Charles Parish on February 3rd 2019 a trooper with the Louisiana State Police Troop B was conducted enforcement for hazardous moving violations on I 10 west on the bunny car Speedway in St Charles Parish the trooper was in a 2018 di charger and was parked on the right shoulder with his emergency lights activated the trooper rear radar registered a vehicle traveling at 115 mph and a 60 MPH Zone and it strikes the trooper vehicle hey that's I just got into a fleet I reared it on the shoulder West the 217 [Applause] starts yeah I'm coming for right now I came up behind me at 115 the vehicle crash into a side rail and a trooper immediately place the driver and handcuffs hey put your hands up come back here come back here turn [Applause] around sorry yeah you freaking hit me at 15 M an hour you got anything on you no no what's this that's a [Applause] have a seat the trooper then expect both vehicles and search the driver's vehicle [Applause] that [Applause] just need help get out that's it's a little tight do you own that vehicle no my sister does what coming up here I'm going to take the Cuffs off you and get field to briet test okay before I do that can you tell me you been drinking today uh ear way ear today yeah uh just a shot where at uh at my where that at my you all right not really you get anything back on the ID camera there you go yeah it is I mean you hit a trooper yeah going I mean to be honest I didn't see him until he cut got his lights on cuz he didn't have his lights on at all right yeah he was there in that fog huh huh yeah in that foggy huh yeah it was foggy but then like I kind of was halfway in the in the in the in the shoulder and halfway on the on the road too like and then I'm I'm tired you know I I just got I just got off from work and I was on the way home back to my sister so you ever had a do for no first yeah [Applause] huh the driver Gregory R amidst to drinking alcohol and he was arrested for speeding Reckless operation of a motor vehicle second offense possession of marijuana suspended driver's license and vehicle negligent injuring which includes DWI Gregory R was booed into the St Charles Paris jail Gregory was sentenced to a 2-year suspended sentence and placed on probation for vehicle negligent [Music] injuring so where were you coming from this morning huh where that at okay where was that at where was what um where's home my home is been I'm from New Orleans yeah but I was going home to my sister's house in B okay you understand right so I'll read this again I'm just going to tell you since you since you haven't had a DUI before right I I'll read your rights again you have the opportunity to give a uh a breath test if you cooperate with the breath test it goes favorably for you if you if you um if you refuse the breath test then I'm just going to get a warrant for your blood when we draw blood um the alcohol content is almost always higher because it's more concentrated yeah um but if you don't if you don't provide a breast sample and cooperate then automatically your license is suspended for a year if it's all rise suspend it's on I think it I think it adds on top of it so I mean it it's really up to you I mean I could cut a warrant one way or another but if uh since this is your first the first DUI is kind of like slap on the on the wrist kind of thing there kind of the speeding kind of the thing and and anything else that falls out but it turns into it turns into a much bigger charge if you if you don't cooperate does that make sense yeah so if I cooperate it's a it's it's it's not a I mean DUI are fairly common and uh first first and really second offenses are kind of minor things it's the third offense where you start getting into felony charges so if I so since I'm going to jail tonight well today no you'll bond out quick they're not going to hold you for this uh a a DUI is a misdemeanor Okay so what so what's the process all we're going to go take this test you'll have the opportunity to to cooperate with it um and uh depending on the uh the uh level and then because it was a uh a officer involved um accident yeah there there might be some other paperwork and stuff that I'm I'm not real familiar with but you'll be booked in on probably that and probably speeding yeah um your tent was illegal too did you know that no I didn't that's not my car so uh I'm sorry so when when we take the breath test it only takes a couple minutes uh it takes me about half an hour to uh to to get the rest of the forms and the charges together I'll check with my sergeant um you'll be booked in and then um then you'll you'll get the opportunity to bond out all right how much you think B no don't ask me that I I don't do that I don't do those numbers man so you you said you drank like several hours yeah like hours uh so it's probably pretty much pretty much all out of your system then anyway huh huh pretty much out of your system then anyway huh yeah most [Applause] likely what kind of out was uh Crown Apple Crown Apple yeah yeah that's my favorite yeah pretty smooth that's pretty smooth yeah tastes like candy yeah so you said you only had
