An Illinois deputy K-9 unit clocks a 19-year-old going over 100 miles per hour late into the night on the 4th of July. Now, what's interesting and frankly frustrating about this video is that the officer loses track of the suspect for nearly 2 minutes, during which time the officer shuts off his dash cam and the kid drives through a cornfield. When the officer does find the teenager again, the kid's story does not check out. If you want to hear the charges and our theory on what might have happened, skip to the end. >> Terrible. >> Shut the vehicle off. How many people are in there? I just panic for no [ __ ] reason, which is stupid. >> Why were you turning your lights off? >> Because I thought I could like get like away from them. >> So then after you saw my red and blue lights, you continued to to do that. >> Why? >> I don't know. This next one, you're going to stand your feet together, hands at your sides. When I say begin, you're going to lean your head back about 45°. You're going to close your eyes and then you're going to estimate the passing of 30 seconds. Okay? And when you think 30 seconds has passed, you're going to lean your head back forward. I had my I had every single light on shining into the road and you passed me and you hit the brakes at first and then when you saw me pull out you took off. >> How far were you? >> I was right next to I was in You know how the interstate one lane goes south, one goes north? I was in between both of those lanes, right next to the road. Why are you running? I don't even know what he was going to just for Okay. All right. Turn around for me. Okay. So, you are going to go to jail today for aggravated fleeing and eluding. Okay. I'm still kind of just mind blown on why you ran in the first place over maybe a speeding ticket. I I know for a fact that you saw me, okay, and maybe you ran because you knew you were speeding real fast. That just doesn't doesn't really make sense to me. Okay. >> Stop right there. >> All right. We're going to walk over here. No, I appreciate it. Thank you. We're going to walk this way. Over here. All right, man. These are your copies of your tickets. Okay. Looks like there's a lot. There's four of them total. Two each or two copies of each. This one's for reckless driving. Okay. This one's for driving with no headlights. You turn your headlights off. This is the speeding 1170. And then this one's disobey traffic control device running red lights and such. Okay. Uh, you're you're going to have a court date. Okay. It's written here at the bottom. July 24th, 2025, 9:00 a.m. at the MLAN County Courthouse. It's the same building that we're in right now. Address is right here, 104 West Front Street in Bloomington. Uh, don't miss your court date, okay? They'll put out a warrant for arrest. Okay? If you have any questions about anything uh involving your court date, there's a phone number right here that you can call during regular business hours. Like I said before, I mean, I'm not going to sit here and lecture you because I know that you know that you [ __ ] up. Uh we all make mistakes. Some of them a little bit worse than others. Tonight was a pretty pretty decent [ __ ] up to be honest. Okay, you're going to have a court date. You're going to probably I don't know what the the judge will end up deciding on I mean what your consequences are, but you have to go through whatever consequences you have. And I would say just learn from this mistake. You know, it's best thing that you can do in this situation. Do you have any questions for me about anything? All right. So, the kid was hit with a slew of pretty minor charges, but given that it was the 4th of July, and given that he disappeared into the cornfield for two whole minutes, it is very hard not to suspect that the kid ditched something. Drugs, alcohol, or maybe drunk underage friends while he was out of view. Maybe we are being too suspicious, but we think he got away with something. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
