kick okay on April 26th 2024 officers responded to an incident following a report from a caller who described a situation involving a highly intoxicated female who had assaulted her mother and hospital staff outside a hospital the altercation reportedly occurred after her mother had brought her to the hospital for evaluation okay Abby come on let's get out of the back of the car okay Abby all we're doing is getting you some help okay that's all we're doing okay upon arrival the officer observed the woman lying on the grass outside the hospital exhibiting highly aggressive behavior the officer approached her with the intention of taking her into custody however as soon as the officer attempted to intervene the female resisted crying loudly and yelling at the officer her aggressive behavior continued to escalate prompting the officer to use Force to arrest her after restraining her the officer placed her inside the patrol vehicle for transport um so her mom and I think some other family num just brought her here to be seen yeah guess what and get the [ __ ] away from me Abby Abby relax Abby AB hey hey relax right now hey come AB turn around turn around turn around thank you no relax no please stop don't touch me don't touch me yep yeah no don't touch me take a breath don't touch me why are you walking up on us like this AB don't touch me I need I need Abby do not resist you're going end up going on the ground do you understand me do not do not touch me do not touch me come here do not touch me do not grab out of her hand me and then just P down sure weapons quick do not touch me do not I am I need I need help relax we'll try to help you no we'll try to help you but if you're going to walk up on us like that you're going to go on Squad C take us while the situation seemed temporarily under control the investigation was far from complete shortly after the woman was secured her mother and members of the hospital staff arrived at the scene to provide their accounts of the events the officer began gathering information starting with the mother who willingly shared details about the incident her testimony was invaluable as she disclosed the sequence of events leading up to the altercation she explained how she had brought her daughter to the hospital for evaluation due to concerns about her intoxicated state only for the situation to spiral out of control her mom wanted to bring her in for help she was freezing for help but she was screaming and yelling I walked out to talk to her I thought to the mom then tried to kick me kick my partner and ran off me on screaming okay hi hey how you doing so okay so walk what happened with you she's an alcoholic tonight she she she's at bottom she's got people after her she's anyway um tonight I went over to check on her cuz nobody had heard from her she's been on a 3-day bedner she said yes I want help I want help I want to come I heard so I brought her and then she hit me in the car she hit her in the car and she started hitting us up there they had to intervene she needs I can't take her home like this does she live with you no okay but I'm not putting her in my car hey hey just relax for me okay no you I mean mental health too she's got big big issues okay she's got big issues so as far as her assaulting you guys right um I just got to ask do you guys want to press charges against her at all I to get her in the hospital I mean so that's not going to take her to the hospital that would take her to ja okay which I mean again it's up to you you don't live with her right it's not a domestic um but that's totally up to you just got to ask right so if you guys don't want charges that's totally fine well then she'll just be like go and just water around I mean I'm not trying to be nasty no I just don't know so as far as so with her in her mental state so it's just her having an alcohol issue doesn't necessarily give us the right to do an involuntary committ if you're come here um now when she was like hitting you guys and what was like her intentions right was it to hurt you was it to she was okay or was it just trying to leave or you know you know what I mean like um she was on the phone with her ex-husband girlfriend boyfriend girlfriend and um was getting upset with her and I was try to get off the phone okay at me did she actually hit you guys no no yeah she didn't where'd she hit you at okay got okay did she assault you guys at all okay okay next the officer questioned the hospital staff and the security Personnel who had witnessed the incident their accounts further corroborated the mother's story shedding light on the female's combative Behavior according to their statements the intoxicated woman had not only physically assaulted her mother but had also directed her aggression toward the hospital staff this included verbal threats and physical actions that disrupted the hospital environment the security Personnel detailed their attempts to manage the situation before the officers arrived describing how the woman's Behavior had posed a risk to herself and others what we have to articulate to be able to get somebody committed to the hospital is that she's a direct harm for herself as in she's if we leave her she's going to P self or I I I get that but you know just scream and yelling that sort of stuff doesn't really meet that threshold for the state of Iowa um or that she is a direct harm to others as in she's going to leave here and seriously injure or kill somebody just out of Rage all right can you just start with what's your name that that's what we want to try to get you okay we're not we don't want to arrest you anything like that okay does that make sense what what's your name is it Abby yeah Abby Abby what what's what's what's going on tonight how can we help you how can we help you here I need help I'm sorry I know I understand I I trying to go in P it mhm pleas don't is it what what's going on to make you kind of get upset tonight I mean is it just taking too long or what are you thinking doesn't because it sounds like that you were going to get help and you guys were headed here and then when you guys got out you started assaulting mom and sister and the security and they don't want to press charges okay you're not in any sort of trouble as yes I don't but you need to be able to talk to me so I can help you I'm sorry so so what are we going to do tonight I want to go imp paent okay can you please we can help you with that we can but but but hey you you can't lash out at us you can't walk up on us like you did you can't be assaulting anybody else okay like that that can't happen okay cuz you need help right and I'm not here to judge you anything like that but you you you have some issues with alcohol which a lot of people do okay I need help we got to figure out what happened here first so we can get you going and we got to figure out how we can help you so I need to know how I can help you I want to go inent right now okay but if we take you out are you going to out against mom again or you going cuz they're trying to help you right like they're bringing here just listen to me they're bringing you here because they care about you and they love you and they want you to get help okay I promise that I won so lashing out against them is about the worst thing they can do cuz they're trying to help you okay because if you keep going down this road of drinking drinking drinking for 3 days straight you're going to end up dead right like I know you don't want that right you don't want to die I know and you're in this car right now because of your own actions okay and to get out of this car we got to help each other a little bit here so I have some questions for you okay that I need you to answer so what medications were you going to take because I I'm saying what medications specifically dang it can you please we will in a second but I got you got to answer that question for me what medications were you going to take all of the medications I know what specific medications do you have at your house that you were prescribed that you were going to open tonight um okay all righty I'll be right back with you no one second after compiling these statements the officers discussed the situation among themselves assessing the severity of the incident and determining the next course of action given the woman's aggressive demeanor and apparent high level of intoxication they decided that it was necessary to transport her back to the hospital for AIC medical evaluation before proceeding further uh so she said that tonight she wanted and she thinks she still does want to herself um she's going to take a bunch of pills to said she has access to those pills at home so what do you think we're going to do there so what do we need right now case number right yep um they're talking right now do you have Mom sister's information do you have their information or her information okay address everything uh not address okay get all information for her get all information from them and then we'll go through with that okay but I work at L so she's going to be involuntarily involuntarily committed for mental health okay um given her statements about wanting to herself and for having a plan and the means to do so and given the fact she's clearly shown she's assaulting you guys all that sort of stuff again there's no charges against her for that right you guys don't press charges they don't they don't want to press charges that's fine um obviously the main priority is getting her the help she needs right because because her her assault in you guys is based off her addiction she has right um so I I guess do you know I mean where she she's still in the car lean back you just want to keep an eye on her she's super Dr yeah we'll pull up to the B yep yep we should be good here guys thank you I know it's it's all right we're going to get you out of the cff here soon so Abby what we're going to do we're going to drive into that garage door right there we're going to take you in there we're going to take you out of handcuffs okay okay and we're going to give you some help all right okay all the information cool all right here's her phone the officer drove her to the hospital but the woman's Behavior showed no signs of improvement during the transport she continued crying loudly screaming and resisting any attempts to calm her down upon arriving at the hospital the situ situation escalated further the woman's actions became even more disruptive complicating efforts to manage her she screamed at the officers and Hospital staff refusing to cooperate in any way all right we're going out okay I arrested nope you're just going to stay at the hospital tonight you're not arrested no charges or anything like that talk about no this is the yeah okay Abby come on let's get out of the back of the car okay AB all we're doing is getting you some help okay that's all we're doing okay hey we should be on this problem on trip not to run away and that's not need a so there's a case number yeah and that's just for us that's nothing for you no let's you can have her here up yeah my girlfriend is a police officer okay all right hop out Abby we're going to get those cops off you okay I don't trust you nobody's corrected it but I thought they would have done it on yeah no why very clearly I know I heard it the officer in consultation with the hospital staff had no choice but to forcefully escort her into the hospital and place her in an observation room despite her resistance the officer ensured she was secured allowing the medical team to proceed with her evaluation the officers also discussed the situation with the attending doctor providing a detailed account of the events leading up to her arrival at the hospital after conducting the necessary medical examination the doctor determined that the woman was fit for custody clearing her for transport to the St station yeah um thing all jumbled up I tried miking up get these off of me they will not okay well we have an ambulance coming in so you've got to move like I said you were causing someone else to delay getting help because you acting childish they need to take these up we go sit down what put your feet on there well don't Pi me down I did okay um we have to speak with the doctor kind of let them know why she's here all that sort of stuff do we need to I'm sorry we need to get the doctor's information his name go ahead what going say and then do we need to St out that case or they going to handle that dispatch should handle it it was hold that for a second right oh she didn't get me but she got real close and I was like it's not me I'm not the one I'm going to walk away before I get my job taken away is Ellie in there no who's the nurse oh yeah yeah yeah I'm give two seconds sorry going to jail why am I going to jail stand up come on AB why am I going why am I going to jail we're going to change you out into those okay why am I going to jail why am I I I trusted you you told me down no you you don't want Abby come on Abby just relax way we can keep her just in these or do you guys need these I don't know to be honest I just leave just leave her in she got to go to a bed to get cleared first I need mental health unfortunately you stupid Ian don't spit just relax the officer reh handcuffed her to ensure she would not pose a risk during during the transport once again she was placed in the patrol vehicle and the officer drove her to the station for further investigation upon arriving at the station the officers initiated the necessary procedures to document the incident including recording statements and cataloging evidence the woman's Behavior remained problematic but the officers maintained control of the situation oh guess what does it make you feel good little Asian yeah no you're not touching me
