On February 17th, 2024, officers noticed a Jeep stopped in the middle of the road near an intersection. When they approached, the vehicle had three passengers, and the driver showed hesitation in sharing her details. She lied about her age several times before being properly identified. The situation raised concerns about her behavior and intentions at that hour. What made the driver so unwilling to share basic information with the officers? Okay. Hello. Yeah. Hi. What happened? No, I'm just waiting for my friend that she's at the corner at the at the park. You guys hit a sign. I to be honest, I really don't know. You don't know? So, what made you stop right here? because she she lives at the at the corner. Uh-huh. And I didn't really realize that she was at the corner. So, how old are you? 21. You're 21. You have your ID? No. No. 22. There's no What? Oh, sorry. No, I'm 21. No. You have your ID? No, I don't have my ID. Why not? Because I left my house really, really, really fast because of her. Okay. How much have you had to drink tonight? Um, I really have like one beer, but like that's it. That's That's it. I smell alcohol coming from I know the car. I know. Do you mind stepping out and talking to me out here? Yes. Okay. Just come over here on the sidewalk. Yeah, please. Just come on the sidewalk. Oh, yeah. Okay. Do you have a driver's license issued to you? I do, but it's at home. Okay. And it's New Jersey. Yeah, it's New Jersey. Tell me your name exactly how it appears on your license. It's Camila. C A M I L A C A M I L A. And then my last name is Gabera. C A B R E R A. I'm sorry. C A B R B R E R A. Do you have a middle initial? B. What's your birthday? As soon as the officers arrived, they began investigating the woman who had come to pick up her friend and was parked in the wrong place. Also, she was driving without an ID, making the situation even more suspicious. However, one good thing was that she admitted to being drunk without creating any scene. Later, the officer suspected her of drunk driving and prepared to take further action. Okay. uh just try to pull the car up and try to find I was literally a license not like not even driving. I was just like turning around the car because of parking issues with her. Um because my um I speak mostly Spanish so I don't know how to explain it to you. Um my sister's fiance's sister she's having a go away party for her brother. So, she wanted me to like turn around her car because the parking issue was I don't know what's what was happening over there. Um, that's why I was like driving around, but I wasn't going home. I was literally like just driving around the block for her. Try to find a parking spot. Yeah, literally just that. So, how did you I don't know what happened. How did you manage to lose a tire? I don't know what happened to me. You don't remember hitting anything? No, I literally don't. I was literally like that's the address I I was at. Okay. Um and you said you only had one beer. Yes. And you're 21. Yeah. No, I'm 19. Okay. 20. Okay. I just turned 20. Um you realize you're not supposed to be drinking and driving, let alone drinking underage. I know. I really know. I really know. It's just like it's not really that common in my country. I know that's an excuse here. What's not common? Drinking like not the age, okay, of because in my country in in Ecuador, it's 18. So, it's really really not that common that like, you know, I'd be drinking at 20. Um, I know that it's common here. Um, but that's why I wasn't like driving home. I was just literally like turning the block. Okay. But they were just distracting me and I really got nervous with them. Okay. Um, give me one second. Not up for a bad person. Oh, I don't think you are. Just give me one second. She's uh 20 and uh admitted to having a beer. Has no idea how she took out a sign. I smell alcohol. A little bit of slurred speech. I can't do any tests out here, so I don't know what to do with that. So, uh, she's under make a phone call to I'll talk to her real quick. Mhm. Just call Rob just to see cuz I can't do any tests out here. I don't know what how that works with Geran for guarantee I know where she was coming from too. Yeah, she was coming from Rose. You used to live on Rose. Um, or you were just going there from a party. I was going from there from a party. But didn't you say that that's your old address or that's where you're coming from? That was my old address from like less than a month than a year ago. Okay. Because I used to live in Ecuador. Gotcha. All right. Just talk to my partner here. No, she doesn't. She said the woman mostly responded appropriately, but repeatedly lying about her age, sometimes claiming to be 21 and other times 19 was completely strange. This did not positively work in her favor. Instead, it raised concerns against her as it clearly showed that she was in a highly intoxicated state which was complicating the situation. Two solder hook for Whiskey 36 Romeo Kilo Golf. Just let them know that the uh front axle's no good anymore. The passenger side tires hanging off. Oo, it's C A M I L A B Cabrera. Oo, it's cold out. 9903. No, I think it was 919. Camila, what's your birthday? I smell alcohol. She admitted to drinking. Give me my phone real quick. What the heck? Oh, you got to clear out the DL that's down there. Hey, uh our driver here, she took out a street sign. Um doesn't know how that happened. She's 20 and admitted to drinking smell alcohol. Uh we obviously can't do any tests out here. [Music] So good to go, right? No, we we saw this car um disabled on the side of the road and then about 100 feet back the sign that they took out is in the road and then about 100 ft back from there is their bumper 20way York. So yeah, this DPW is killing us. [Music] Okay, sounds good. Bye. It's going to be a 503 for 450. I'm going to go get passengers IDs and stuff. Uh, it's not even going to I got nothing. right now. You got ID on you? Uh, no. Not right now. You have an ID? No, I don't have an ID. Never? No, not right now. All right. So I I think she's she just hit hit a sign, but she was going to call the the I don't know how to say that. Yeah. Okay. All right. Well, the we're calling a tow truck. Yeah. Yeah. The the tow truck. She was going to call him because fulfilling legal requirements and staying professional was a key purpose in the officer's life. The officers seated the woman in the police vehicle and provided a complete briefing to their senior officers. Afterwards, they resumed collecting evidence and statements related to the same woman. Their consistent focus and organized handling of the situation showed how seriously they treated every step of the investigation. You know, the snow and all that. Yeah. She can't even like see, you know. Okay. Um, roll this roll this window down. You don't have any form of ID? No, sorry. I I'm just a passenger, so sorry. Yeah. Well, I have to get your information. I'm I'm sorry, but I I don't really have So, you What's Where do you live? Uh, I live from like half an hour from here. So, like what what is the address? I need your address. But So, you understand that that's a problem? Yeah. And I need to get all your guys' information and or else you're not leaving. So, the quicker you give that to me, the quicker we all get out of this. No. All right. So, uh do you have an a license or ID in the United States? Uh, I have an ID. I have my like like my permits. Okay. Yeah. So, but I don't know if I really have on this, but but yeah. So, uh, roll this down. You guys have ID on you? Thank you. I'm sorry, bro. I'm sorry. This never happened to me before. All right, Camila. So, here's where we're at. You're under 21. You've admitted to drinking alcohol tonight. We smell alcohol coming from your breath. I'm getting some slow, slurred speech from you. You're a little unbalanced. Okay. Get it? So, you are being placed under arrest for driving under the influence. Okay. Okay. So, put your hands behind your back. Just turn around. It was strange to gather information from the young man, and his admission that he was just a passenger was weird. However, he too was sitting there without any ID. The officers repeatedly instructed him to share his residence details, but he kept dodging the questions and tried his best to avoid the officer. The two boys sitting in the back seat providing their IDs and admitting they were nervous was reasonable as the woman was putting everyone's life at risk. The car somewhere. Whose car is it? It's my car. Is it registered to you? Yes. Okay. It might be registered in her uh somebody else code sign. So, it might be their name. Got you. Do you have anything on you that's going to hurt me, stick me, poke me? No. No guns, drugs, knives, hand grenades, nothing. Okay. Still conduct a search for toxic, right? Yeah. I'm just going to throw over here uh with Anthony. Can we um Can we Yes. What are you doing in Are we going out? I think so. I have We have their IDs. Um you have their deal numbers written down. Yeah. Next time, please just let me know. I'm waiting on you for it. All right. So, we're going to get them out. Search the car. Wow. It's terrible out here. Do you have your phone in the car? No. It's in your pocket? No. No, it's in the car. Yeah. Well, all right. I'm going to get it for you so that you can make a phone call. Okay. All right. Um, you don't have anything on you, right? No. Okay. Uh, so obviously the car is disabled. Mhm. You're missing your front tire. Pretty much just hanging off. So, we're calling a tow truck. Your friends have to find a ride. So, we're going to probably tell them to walk back to the party at least till they get an Uber or something. We'll do some paperwork. If someone can come pick you up that's sober, you'll be out in just a little while. Okay. Okay. You said you live in Rosal Park now. Yes. Okay. Um All right. Do you need anything outside of the car? Your phone? You have your wallet or anything? I mean, my phone and my wallet. Do you have your ID on you? All the evidence and statements were clearly against the woman which made it a critical decision for the officers to take her into custody. Moreover, her lack of resistance or aggression was commendable. As in most such cases, females often create such chaos that the entire surrounding environment gets disturbed. Her calm behavior in this tense situation helped the officers complete the arrest without any unnecessary complications. Yeah. On my Did you give us your real information? No. Yes. It's in my my purse. You want your purse? Yes. What's it look like? It's a gray purse. I mean like Yeah, like a grayish purse. Yeah. So, your phone and your purse? Yes. All right. Thank you. Okay. Yeah. Can I I'm going to take it so that she can make a phone call. Yeah. Sure. All right. Yeah. Can I talk with her? Can you talk to her? Can I talk with her? What? Can I talk with her? Yeah. One second. I just want to talk with her. Yeah. Just stay on right here. Yes, sir. contact. Yeah. foreign. Yeah. foreign. Okay. Sir, I see The officer taking the woman's phone while she quietly sat in the police vehicle showed that she had already realized the seriousness of the situation. She should have used her senses earlier as a serious accident could have cost her life. In the end, this incident served as a strong reminder of how dangerous and irresponsible drunk driving can be. What's your name? What's your name? Bro. Okay. No, bro. Yeah, bro. What are you looking for? The address? Yeah. I just want to talk with you. A friend of hers, you know. A friend of hers. Yeah. The boy was extremely sensible in how he behaved in the officer's presence, which was noteworthy. Moreover, the woman's silence didn't seem without reason. Perhaps she was preparing for a bigger scene. Or maybe sensing the seriousness of the situation, she found it wiser to remain quiet. Hey, Kev, did you finish the car? What? I'm sorry. What's up? Can you Can you roll on a window or take off my handcuffs? I swear I'm not going to do anything. I I just really need to scratch my nose. I can't. I can't. I swear. Can you Can you scratch my nose? I My my hands are hurting really bad. It was essential for the officer to gather even the most minor details from the woman while she was in the police vehicle to ensure that no injustice could be done to her. This careful documentation helped maintain transparency and fairness throughout the entire process. They're they're not supposed to be comfortable, but I promise you they're not too tight. And we're going to leave here in a minute. And then we get to headquarters, which is like 2 minutes away, and then the cuffs come off. All right. You're okay. I know it's scary, but relax. The officer safe transfer of the woman to the station and her calm throughout the journey were both commendable actions. Upon arrival at the police station, the officers began the legal procedures which were central to this investigation. Nine. I thought it usually said under 21 until on the front. 21. Oh, yep. Yep. There it is. It's still probationary. So, she is in violation of of those things uh as well. I'll read the standard statement. Um, sir, here. Go start doing tickets. The car should be in the job. Um, come up for 450. 450 450 in a 450 in a school zone. Let's see. Franklin school is 6. 6 is here and we had her here. So, you can do 450 in a school zone. It's whatever that substitute is. Um, careless, reckless. Uh, there's a substitute of reckless that pops up that actually is causes property damage. So, you could always do that one. If not, regular careless is fine. Um, [Music] hold on one second. [Music] All right, see got the car deal is really busy, but Oakland near Walker is pretty bad. Quite a few cars are spinning out.
