on May 23rd 2022 officers responded to Walmart for a theft in progress could a simple scanning mistake lead to such a chaotic situation what youting stop resisting this is all on video I'm resisting stoping okay T upon arrival officers approached a woman who was accused of attempting to steal items by misusing a self checkout system was not showing up there I know I rang up the wrong vacuum remember you have the other one with you right now no they're both they were both on clearance ma'am do you have your license on you yes can I have it this is ridiculous I ring up the wrong freaking vacuum an unintentional mistake I just spent $250 for $20 this is ridiculous $1 I understand but there's no clothes on it and there not some okay okay so what because you're being trespassed okay that's beautiful that's beautiful where do you work at I don't work I'm disabled what were the items that weren't paid for the woman explained that she mistakenly rang up the wrong vacuum cleaner and insisted the incident was unintentional she expressed frustration claiming she had already spent $250 and had no intention of stealing where were you Bor what where were you born you mean where where process when asked for identification she cooperated but became increasingly distressed as the situation escalated like I'm going to do something intentionally when I know somebody's following all of that was in skin did she pass points of sale that is [ __ ] that was not scanned maybe it's Miss scanned [ __ ] [ __ ] then it got deleted off my receipt I did not not see it okay this is on here this is on here this is on here so um you're crazy I standed on the freaking wall so that stuff was Ring up all right hold on yeah lying straight up lying that's on here it's right here right here right first thing oh and wait I have something on here that I didn't buy I rank I scanned something that I didn't get I get a credit for that during the interaction the woman repeatedly emphasized that the mistake was unintentional and claimed she was unfairly accused she insisted she had the cial means to pay for any errors and noted that her mother worked at the store arguing that she would never intentionally steal however officers informed her that surveillance footage showed her placing items into bags without scanning them she vehemently denied these accusations asserting that all her items had been scanned using the store's mobile app freedom ran and ask her why she didn't pay for the items and she start stuffing in the bags how far through did she make it here I know it was on the other side she got a card all way out now why did she stop cuz I called her receipt check yeah receipt check I'm going to read your rice okay I'm going to ask you a question at the end I just need registered the woman insisted that the stores self checkout system might have caused the issue and asked why her claims were not being believed the officers proceeded to detain her read her rights and informed her that she was being placed under arrest for theft at this point the woman became visibly distressed repeatedly stating she had a child waiting at home and could not go to jail somebody call me a lawyer I can't believe this was happening you guys I can't believe this is happening this was a [ __ ] accident are you kidding me right now St turning towards us you're not listening to me we tried to talk to you you just want to walk away you didn't I didn't I tried to call a lawyer and I have that right yeah at to jail not right now so now we're not I can't go to jail well you're going now I I can't you know understand I can't I have a child at home with your child he doesn't have a father he's dead I don't with your child now my mother okay well who's all I'm I'm going to I surveillance footage and discrepancy in her receipt supported the theft allegations she continued to insist that any unpaid items were an accidental oversight and not an intentional Act of theft can I scanned them on the um as I went it was an accident not Hand by hand like that abely not officers compared her receipt with the items in her cart as the investigation progressed they determined that approximately $611 worth of merchandise including clothing shoes and a vacuum cleaner had not been paid for accident it was not an accident yes it was see why why won't anybody listen to me it was an open move your knee please despite her protests officers proceeded with the arrest placing her in the patrol car she expressed disbelief and distress repeatedly stating that the accusations were false and that the alleged theft amount was was exaggerated all right so um since we don't have a receipt we just took a total of all the items that weren't food cuz she 100% paid for all food right okay she showed us a original receipt that she paid for with scan and go uh the amount that she paid for that I saw was $211 okay uh all the meriz that's not food totals up to uh $620 so so she didn't pay for any of this right here uh I can't tell without you know her receipt does she have a receipt yeah it's on her phone so she cuz uh we can't um SC go right here it's just the groceries yeah that's all her the groceries that she had the scan go no way we guys um not until probably tomorrow without her unless we get her phone or her card number if you get the last four for card number that she paid with then uh uh okay you that spot now they're put us on a bad spot she's defin stealing I just can't get the scan so apparently you can seize her phone and you have to get a search for for is it a felony 600 it's not a felony can't even seiz hey can can I talk to her by myself for a second like by myself look I I don't I don't know what happened roing me I promise you it was an accident well your scan it with your phone right and it didn't scan I didn't not ring it on purpose there didn't scan yes so what do you think didn't scan these bathing suits so was it just the bathing suit I don't know they were they were try they were lying and saying other stuff didn't and I showed them on the receipt four things that they said that didn't ring up and were on the receipt they ring up the wrong vacuum like it was you ring up the wrong vacuum yes so did you ring up like a it was $89 worth of $100 so it was $89 vacuum and how much was the one you walked $1 it was a a clearance thing both on clearance I scanned both of them to see to see which one was better price and yes and I grabbed the the opposite one I'm going to leave her here with you I'm going to go inside real quick okay but be just as polite to her as you are to me okay I need something to I'm sweating so bad her story is that she used the app she thinks she put the clothes on first the app closed out she said the only only thing that she knows that she screwed up on is the vacuum cleaner because she said she scanned the vacuum cleaner twice she was trying to see two different prices she deleted one and she think she said that she she deleted throughout the ordeal the woman maintained that her actions were accidental and repeatedly offered to pay for discrepancies she explained that she never intended to leave the store without paying for her items and emphasized that she did not even make it past the point of sale before being stopped in the wrong vacuum cleaner obviously she's stealing the vacuum cleer for a cheaper one as well as uh I have a receipt put up right here no clothes on re no clothes what about this what is oh that's the 8 Amp yeah no that's a no four four 4 amp you scan a 8 Amp thing that's uh that's $36 that one's 52 uh 58 so she scaned something else for okay stolen guarantee this is stolen uh 1384 13384 I don't care it's it's going to didn't pay for it right no I fig pool lights guarantee that she didn't pay for this no this guarantee that she didn't pay for this 100% I just know I can tell the stuff that people steal no this is somebody this is something people steal oh this is the pck I was talking about that's the one you said she not the told she paid for that she did yeah she 97 that's surprising no it's 10:47 so no told you yeah oh shoes no clothes no clothes all right the I didn't add the shoes at first CU I but after looking through yeah noes at all everything else is stol so yeah and then that's herts yeah that is not a mistake no there's a lot of stuff was done uh it was uncover that it was about $611 worth of items that were not paid for that's impossible okay well Paula didn't even Paula I I I had to be I should been to witness it there's no way there is no way that's not right that wasn't my merchandise we we scan each item one by one that was in the cart and that's what a total two then it wasn't my cart because I'm telling you it was the C that you were pushing there's no way hold we're beyond that now you are under arrest there's no way I promise you I don't want to be doing no under arrest no I don't believe this no no please oh my god dude put your left leg again pick up there's no way there's no way that is not true I don't believe it you guys are railroading me we're not railroading the woman was charged with theft for allegedly failing to pay for $611 worth of merchandise including clothing shoes and a vacuum cleaner surveillance footage reportedly showed her bagging items without scanning them despite her claim
