He's been robbed in a black. >> What's this? >> We're going to take him to Bowling Brook. >> Bowling Brook. >> Hey, Sergeants. They're going to Bowling Brook. This was found not as person. >> All three people involved in the attack were rushed to the hospital where the six-year-old victim Wade Alfaumi was tragically pronounced dead. As he was leaving the hospital, the attacker, 72-year-old Joseph Suba, told investigators that the violence was motivated by anti-Muslim hatred. Although the tenants had lived with him for 2 years without incident, Suba was captured on body cam, saying, quote, "I was afraid for my life. I was afraid they were going to do jihad on me." Prosecutors later argued that Suba had become increasingly paranoid and consumed by coverage of the Israel Hamas war, which had begun only a week earlier. Tuba was charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, hate crime, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. On February 28th, 2025, a jury found him guilty on all counts. And on May 2nd, Judge Amy Bertani Tomzac sentenced Suba to 53 years in prison, calling the attack quote, brutal and heinous. But in a bizarre twist, Suba died in custody just 2 months later, having served only 571 days of his sentence. The cause of Joseph Suba's death has not been formally disclosed. And while some speculate that he may have been killed in prison, a Chicago Sun Times report stated that his attorney confirmed Suba had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. As of now, the victim's father has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Joseph Suba's estate, and that case is still ongoing. Because of this, many records, including the 911 call and the interrogation footage capturing Suba's confession, remain sealed.
