Um, I entered someone else's receipt on my Walmart app and >> Okay, say that again. >> I entered someone else's receipt on my Walmart app and what was in my basket versus what was on the seat is not safe. >> Not allowed. >> Okay. If she tries to interfere or anything, she's going to go in handcuffs. >> Oh, yeah. Okay. So, if she comes at me, if you want to try to calm her down, >> but >> on June 19th, 2025, in a Walmart parking lot in New Mexico, a young woman turned a basic shopping trip into a felony level circus. What began as a fake receipt trick quickly spiraled into a full police investigation. By the end, the only thing she checked out was a pair of handcuffs. Watch to see how fast greed met reality. >> Hi, how are you? >> Right here. >> Good. Good. Did you call? >> Uh, yeah. Okay, I did. >> Um, so she used uh how she got it, I don't know, but she used a fake receipt on her phone. >> Okay. >> And tried to like play like she scanned stuff and tried to walk out the door. My door greeter stopped her and I called me over. When I started like looking at the receipt, I noticed it's camping stuff on the receipt, but the camping stuff she had didn't match. >> Don't you? >> So then uh her the receipt's on her phone. She I took her phone. I said, "Well, come to my office with me." So she followed me to the office. When I got here, she gave me the name of uh Alvia. Well, first it was Alvara and then she changed it to Alvidia. >> Okay. And then she told me uh I told her I didn't come back in any of our systems. So then she said Alvidia. Um then she handed me she told me I got an ID in my purse. So I got her purse. There was two IDs in there. But they have one has one has the date of births are completely wrong. They're completely different. One's from Georgia, one's from here. Um then the mom showed up, grabbed the IDs from me and just kind of like demanded she go. >> Um no, we actually closed the door and locked it so she couldn't get We tried not to like close the door and people get like kind of weird about it, but >> um we closed the door and locked it and >> she tried getting in there again. They were yelling back and forth at each other. Perfect. Okay. Hi. Here police department. So, I'm going to read you something real quick. Okay. Okay. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court. You have the right to talk to an attorney. You have the right to talk with an attorney before and during questioning and have that attorney present with you during questioning. If you cannot afford a lawyer, one would be appointed to represent you you at no cost to you before any questioning. You can decide at any time to exercise these rights and not answer any questions or make any statements. Do you understand your rights? >> Okay. Would you like to talk with me? >> I'm reading your right. So, I'm going to question you about what happened today. Okay. >> Okay. So, do you want to talk? >> Yes. >> Okay. Perfect. >> Okay. So, tell me what happened. >> Um, I entered someone else's receipt on my Walmart. >> Okay. Say that again. I entered someone else's receipt on my Walmart app and what was in my bag. >> The moment the store manager explained the fake receipt trick. The officers knew they weren't dealing with a first- timer. The suspect tried to match random items to a stranger's old camping receipt. A bold move for someone with zero poker face. Her story changed faster than her fake names. It was like watching a bad improv show meet retail theft 101. >> Versus what was on their seat is not the same. So, you had somebody's receipt on your app? >> I just um took someone else's receipt and entered the numbers on my app and >> Okay. >> They're not the same. >> Okay. And then you grabbed the items. >> Okay. >> I just kind of grabbed what was on that receipt more or less in favor of what I wanted. Um yeah. Okay. Um, >> I am in the wrong. I agree. [music] 54. >> Yeah. So, that means you you're going to be arrested. Okay. >> I don't get any other choices. I can't just pay it. >> Okay. >> I know you can trespass. So, what we're going to do and stand up when you put your handcuffs and then we're going to criminal trespass you from the store. Okay. So, there's a little bit of paperwork you got to do before you get going. How's your mom going to respond? We'll walk you out in handcuffs. Not allowed. >> Okay. If she tries to interfere or anything, she's going to go in handcuffs. >> Oh, yeah. >> Okay. So if she comes at me, if you want to try to calm her down, >> but my fault. >> And did you call her or were you guys here together or how did she >> I don't know how she got here to be honest. >> Okay. Okay. Watching. Hold on. Okay. >> Yes. So, we're going to face this. Okay. Do you have anything on you that a hook or stick to? Okay. This is only Do you have any pockets? No. Okay. I'm just going to check your waistband. You just have the necklace. Is that it? Take your necklace off. Okay. So, because it's a felony. >> Can you explain that? >> Yeah, I'll explain it to you in the car. Okay. >> There's so much money in here. >> Yeah. or the amount of money. It's a it's a felony level. Okay. So, because it's a felony, I can't just give you the option to go and appear in court later. Okay. >> I'm going to put this with your property. All right. >> Once the Miranda rights came out, she finally admitted what everyone already knew. It was all fake. She had stolen a receipt, scanned it, and shopped as if Walmart owed her free gear. The calmness she showed while being cuffed said it all. This wasn't shock. It was routine. The kind of calm only serial shoplifterss master. >> This is super uncomfortable. >> I know. >> Sir, they have to be in the back. >> Say that again. >> They have to be in the back. >> What? >> The handcuffs. >> Yes. When you're in the car. Yes. All right. Just give me a minute. All right. like like like she said there it's going to be a process because you have to finish your paperwork up and all of that. >> All right. >> Yeah. It's just the way you move your hand it'll just >> do you have any questions for him? >> No. >> Okay. Want any of your property to go with your mother? >> No. Okay. Well, take everything. >> Just take everything. Okay. Want me to roll down the window? here. >> So, I need to know what to do. Um, that's my daughter. >> Like, I just >> Yeah, I know you did, but I mean, you're the one that put her in the car. And >> do I take your purse? Do I take >> So, I asked her if she wanted anything to go with you. She said, "No, she'll take everything." >> Okay. >> Okay. >> I kind of got on her and make sure >> Can I see the receipt? >> No. I mean, it's it's a felony level amount. Okay. Um, I saw the shopping cart and there was no way that that was $500 of stuff. >> I think they have I think they have the wrong receipt. >> That's not up to me to decide. Okay. >> That's not how it works. They do training. That means they go to a register and they scan every item that's in the cart and give us a total. We don't go off of the total with the go off the total of the item. >> Yeah, cuz I still have a shopping cart when I got here. Maybe some items already taken out. I don't know. >> All right. Well, are you going to be cool? No, I'm cool. >> Your daughter wants to talk with you, okay? So, I'm going to allow it as long as you stay cool with us. >> And I'm cool. I got >> This wasn't just a theft. It was entitlement meeting reality. One fake receipt became a felony. One excuse became a pattern, and one arrest became a life lesson. She thought she was gaming the system, but the system was already waiting. You can't outsmart accountability, especially when your whole plan fits on a stolen barcode. The suspect was charged with felonious shoplifting and possession of a fake ID. In the end, if you enjoyed the video, hit that like [music] button and drop your thoughts in the comments.
