What I want to do is actually just listen to you tell your story. What transpired from your perspective, what happened, um and take me through the transition. I know there was some incident before, like involving maybe your girlfriend or whatever it might be. Um we can discuss that as well if you'd like to. That might help us understand what what all transpired here. Make sense? >> Yes, sir. >> All right. So, you go ahead and start. Tell me Tell me what transpired, and what the roughly what time and where you guys were and that kind of stuff, if you remember. >> Well, we had a Christmas party for my company. >> Okay. >> And there was a lot of drinking. Well, we had a good night for most of the night and then we left the bar and I don't remember much. I think she was giving me problems or something. We were arguing at some point. And then I started driving fast and next thing you know, I drove my car up a snowbank. We left. Walk home cuz the house wasn't far away. I ran home cuz I wanted uh I wanted to get pick her up, you know, so she wasn't freezing. So I ran and got my van. Got to her. She didn't want to get in the van. I believe I I I put my hands on her and I shouldn't have done that. I must have strangled her or something. Put my hands on her. >> Around her neck, her >> I I can't remember what exactly [clears throat] I did, but I know I I I uh put my hands on her. And I shouldn't have did that. She left me. She's like, "We're done after this." And then I just I just I lost my [ __ ] man. >> Do you have like tell me tell me what You said strangle her, right? So that tells me you probably knew that you put your your hands around her neck. >> I don't know if I put my hands around her neck, but I did put my hands on her at some point. I don't know where. >> Okay. >> I don't remember if I strangled her or not. They say I did. >> And this was after you got like an argument with her after >> Yes. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> walking home at that point. >> Okay. >> And she didn't want to get in the car or the van to go home. >> And this is your van that you had there? >> Yes. >> Um any other guns aside from those three? >> No, sir. >> You went home. Is this close to uh where you guys got into an argument? >> Yes. >> Um >> Apartment is across from Walmart. And I believe I damaged some property inside the apartment. I can't remember. >> Okay. And this is where you and she lived together? >> Yes. >> Uh were your guns usually kept in the place? >> Keep them under these a mattress. >> And are those the only guns you have or do you have more guns? >> the only guns I have, sir. >> Okay. [clears throat] When you retrieve the guns, your girlfriend went to the nursing home, you said? >> She went to the nursing home and then I went home and I guess I didn't want to be alive anymore. >> All right. So, you grabbed the guns. >> my guns and then when I left, I just grabbed my guns and I wasn't going to do anything, honestly. I was going to go take my van to my car and try to pull it out. I got pulled over right away. Like they they must have called the cops on me. >> Do you remember where you were when you got pulled over? >> No. I didn't I got pulled over not too far from the house. >> And then what happened when you got pulled over? >> I got out and started shooting. >> What kind of gun were you shooting? >> I was shooting an AK-47. >> Okay. What were you shooting at? >> I don't even remember. >> Good. >> I was shooting, but I don't remember exactly. Must have been shooting at the cop car. I was just trying to die, man. >> You were looking for a cop to basically shoot you and kill you. >> Yeah. I don't think I was shooting at her. >> Okay. >> shoot her. >> But you remember it was a female officer? >> I remember a female voice and that's when I got in my car and left. >> Let's let's back up to when you grabbed your AK um after you were pulled over. How did that transpire? Walk me through She got stopped by the squad. You pull over, put the van in park. >> I can't remember. >> Okay. But eventually you get out of the van with your AR or with your AK. >> Yes, sir. >> And start shooting at the cops' direction. And >> I don't [clears throat] even think I was aiming. >> Okay. >> I was just shooting it. >> And you thought you heard a female's voice? >> I did hear a a voice. >> Okay. Anybody else? >> No. >> Okay. Did uh you continue to fire shoot at that female voice or >> I can't remember. >> Okay. >> I shot I must have shot all the bullets in the uh magazine and threw the gun down and left. >> Um did you retrieve another gun at that time? >> I did. I don't know if I was shooting it. Was I shooting it? >> So >> [clears throat] >> that's that's what I'm I'm curious about. >> I walked into the school with it, grabbed my man and into the school, I shot the window out of one of the windows cuz it wouldn't go through, and then I just barricaded myself inside the school and I shot the lights above me. >> Okay. Let's back up to the actual shooting event with the officer, okay? After you got out of your van, you directed shots towards uh the officer and the squad. Did you was there at any time like that a reload down or in battery out of be out of battery reload? You're in the service, right? >> Yes. So you >> you're familiar with what I'm saying like in battery and out of battery reload, right? >> I think I know I got a malfunction. >> Like did you have to take the magazine out and insert a new one? >> No, I didn't have another magazine for that gun. >> It was just the one magazine for the officer. >> just one. >> And that's a banana clip type of magazine? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Black black in color. >> Yes. >> And how many how many rounds? >> 20 rounds in it. >> 20 rounds in it? >> Cuz I used it for hunting this year, and I put 20 rounds in it. >> And you believe you went out of battery or you shot it till it's empty? >> I I must have shot it till it was empty or it had a malfunction. >> Do you know if there was a Do you remember if there was like a pause in the shooting? Like you shot for a while and then waited for a while and then shot again? >> I don't remember. >> Okay. Do you remember another squad car arriving on the scene? >> No, I do not. >> Uh do you remember seeing other squads at all at that time, at the traffic stop time? >> I only think I saw one. >> Okay, with the female officer. >> But, I feel like I saw one at the nursing home, too. >> Okay. >> When I passed it on the way to the school. >> Okay. >> I'm not 100% sure. But, I it's very vague. The things that happened that night. >> So, after you ran out of either ammunition or you had a malfunction, what did you do with the gun? >> I threw it on the ground and got in my van and left. >> Okay. And that's when you started you drove past the nursing home and that's where you thought you saw another squad car there. >> I feel like I saw one parked outside. >> And then you drove to the school from there? >> Yes. >> Is there a uh, what happened at the school then? >> I honestly, I was just I don't even know why I did that [ __ ] I just wanted to barricade myself in there, I guess. >> Okay. >> I didn't really have any thought process of what I was doing. >> No particular reason of like, "Hey, I'm going to target the school." or anything like that. It's just Uh, let me ask you this cuz uh, just out of curiosity. >> I felt like it would have been a nice space to hide, you know. >> All right. And smash into the front door? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> The door was locked. >> Okay. Did you check it before you >> I feel like I did. >> Okay. But, you're not sure. [clears throat] >> I can't remember. It was very vague. >> So, eventually you you smashed your van into the front door of the school. >> Yes, sir. >> Went into the school. What what happened then? >> I shot out some lights. I was shooting my way into the classroom. >> Was this with your handgun or your shotgun? >> My handgun. >> Cuz you got your handgun and shotgun left, right? >> I don't have my shotgun on me. I just have my AK, another AK and my handgun on me. >> So, you had a second AK? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, the one you ran out of ran out of bullets at or you had a malfunction, whatever it might be >> Yeah. >> uh with the officer and then you had one more AK and then uh handgun. >> Yeah. >> And so, you used the handgun to shoot out the lights and the door? >> Yeah, combination of AK and a handgun. >> Okay. >> Shotguns in your in your truck or at your house? >> left in the van. >> Okay. >> [clears throat] >> I just barricaded myself in a room that I found. And then I [ __ ] woke up and like what the [ __ ] The [ __ ] did I do? And I went to the bathroom. >> Fall asleep? Did you pass out? >> asleep. >> Okay. >> I went to the bathroom. >> And that AK you had out on the scene there, what what kind of ammunition do you put in that thing? >> 7.62 by 39 mm. >> Okay. Is that the only kind? >> Yeah. >> How many magazines did you have for the other gun? You said you had one for when you shot with the cops. >> I had one magazine. It just got empty, I believe. >> Okay. And how many rounds for the other gun? Do you remember? >> Couldn't have been much. >> Okay. >> I don't remember having maybe 10 rounds in there. >> How many times did you shoot at in the school? Roughly. >> Okay. Did you run out of ammo? >> No. >> You still had some ammo left in both handgun and rifle? >> Yeah, I had another magazine for the handgun. >> So, two magazines for the handgun. Both both magazines were full on with the handgun. How much were you guys drinking then that night? >> Drinking a lot. >> And was there anything else on board besides drinking? >> No, I don't do drugs anymore. >> No drugs? >> No. >> About how many drinks did you have roughly? >> Probably around 10. >> Where was the party at? >> It was at Burger's Island. Company hosted a benefit like a dinner there and all that and then we went to Average Joe's after party. It was a very rash decision, very stupid decision on my end. >> I can't disagree with you on that. >> [ __ ] up. >> Yeah, you did. >> I had a beautiful girlfriend, a good job. >> And unfortunately you did hit the officer. You did shoot the officer. >> Is she okay? >> She is going to be okay. And then you threw that gun ground to the ground, you got in your vehicle, drove past the nursing home, see the other squad there, then go to the school and you check the door. >> I think so. >> You think? >> I can't remember. >> Locked and you smashed the van into the front of the school. >> Yep. >> Barricade yourself, get in the room, shoot out a couple lights, shoot several times in the in the school. And you pass out or do whatever you do in the room and then you come to and you realize >> I [ __ ] my life up. >> And then you came out and gave yourself up. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> [clears throat] >> Um
