I can't go. I can't go. Sorry. I'm sorry. I can't go. Sorry. >> I'm I'm going to put your handcuffs if you don't. >> Okay. >> All right. >> Yeah. >> No. >> All right. Now you're in the arrest for felony. >> Yeah. I'm always singing song. I think you're making >> You're out here committing new crimes when you >> When shoplifterss cross the line in an attempt to escape justice, the consequences become far more severe. Whether it's resisting arrest, these actions can turn a simple charge into a felony. And when that happens, the law doesn't hold back. >> Marshfield police raced to Walmart because a man decided shopping spree meant free knives with every aisle run. He's in his mid30s, rocking a camo coat, jeans, white sneakers, and a backpack. >> Camel coat jeans, camo backpack, and white shoes. How are you guys today? Good. Good. >> How are you? >> I'm good. >> We're walking the store for now looking for him. If you want to just stay by the exits. I believe it's camo coat, blue jeans, white shoes, a backpack. >> Yeah, >> there are worse things though. >> There is. >> Mhm. >> Okay. Hi. >> Where is he? Uh, >> he's still running around the store. He keeps running between out there to the back bathrooms, kitchen, knives, and then back to sporting goods. How old is this guy? >> I had to guess probably mid30s. Me and Ronnie tried stopping him, I want to say last month, and he actually shoved her into a the breakaway doors, knocked him off the track when we went to approach him. So, it's >> a camouflage coat or sweatshirt or was it >> like a jacket with a camo backpack on, blue jeans, white shoes. >> What color is the coat? Camel. >> Camel. Yeah. And then he's got a black hood. >> Where was he last seen? Back by the bathrooms. >> Yeah. And then he started snaking back up this way. And then I saw you guys. >> Is there a way you can get out on the backside? >> No, it'll just be out the front two doors. >> So, you have no idea on a name though, huh? Just No. >> Officers finally corner him. His reaction. Pretend he's in Grand Theft Auto and make a break for the exit. Police say not today and tackle him right at the front doors. So, everyone in checkout gets a live bonus episode of cops. >> All right. Well, we'll stick with you if you want to try to find him since we have no idea what he looks like. >> Yeah. >> Two more waiting on the doors. >> Yeah. Right here. >> Hey, come here. Stop. >> Stop. He's running towards the salt. Stop now. Richard >> on the ground. He thrashes like a fish out of water. Cops tase him repeatedly while making sure he doesn't grab a knife. A random shopper even jumps in to help proving once again Walmart customers are built differently. >> He doesn't have a knife. Sir, >> are you okay? >> No, I'm fine. >> Get a hiccup on him. Scared bikes. >> No. No. No. Stop. Get behind your back now. Behind your back. >> I got taser. >> Yeah. I got it. Let me know why. >> Get in my legs now. again. >> Stop resisting. More. >> Keep it in your back. >> His hands are out in front here. >> Are you done? >> Stop. You okay? >> Yeah. You okay, sir? >> Okay. >> You just hang around so we can get your name. >> It'll be a few minutes. >> Don't even think about moving. >> All right. You injured? >> So, rolling a squad up. Are you done fighting? >> Yeah. >> All right. Appreciate it. >> Once cuffed, the hall is revealed. A cheap kitchen knife and a couple small items. Imagine going to jail because you couldn't resist the $7.99 clearance knife set. >> Is there any weapons on you? >> Where? >> My >> but on in your pockets or sweatshirt? >> No. Let me stand you up and walk squat. Okay. >> You have anything on you I need to know about? >> No. >> Any weapons? >> No. >> All right. You done? Hop in the car. We're going to deal with that stuff in the yard. Okay. >> I knew he took one of the cheap knives and then the knife that was in his hand. He was pocketing other stuff. I'm not 100% sure what it was. A lot of small stuff. >> Cheap knife. What do you mean by that? Like kitchen knife or something? >> Yeah. So, we have like really cheap kitchen knives. They're like a dollar. >> I'm sorry if I was sitting here. >> No, no, no, no. We We appreciate good Samaritans like you. At the jail, officers searched the suspect's belongings for the stolen knives and other items from Walmart. Thank God for that old guy. >> Yeah, you uh he's good people. >> Sharpener. >> Scissor sharpener. You thought there was two knives. >> Well, there was one that I'm not sure. The only one that I saw was up against >> at the hospital. He admits to stealing alcohol and the knife, but insists he wasn't going to hurt anyone. Translation: I just wanted to make a sad shutoer board in the woods. >> I saw one very similar to that. I believe it was that one come crying flying across the room. >> After searching his belongings, the suspect is taken to the hospital to get medically cleared and officers use this time to question him about his intentions. >> You have the right to remain silent. Do you understand each of these rights I have explained to you? >> Having these rights in mind, do you wish to talk to us now? >> Sure. >> Okay. Obviously, you're in Walmart. You admitted to the doctor before while I was standing outside that you'd been there shoplifting. Do you know how many items you grabbed or >> two? >> Two. What were you going to do with them anyway? >> I just took alcohol and a knife. >> Alcohol and a knife? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> But what was the knife for? >> Officers worry he might escalate to worse crimes. They talk about getting him connected to crisis services because clearly shoplifting knives while sprinting through Walmart isn't a long-term career plan. >> Okay. Is there is there somebody that's been coming after you or threatening you? >> No, I just grabbed it. >> Okay. So, the thing that I was concerned with honestly is cuz like I know you're homeless and I knew you kind of been through that rigger morale. The thought that I had in my mind is like you were going to resort to even worse crimes like robbing people. Was was that not not the case? Just more more concerned about protection? >> Yeah, I was around. >> Is there is there anybody that we need to be specifically worried about hurting you? >> No. >> Okay. What kind of alcohol did you take? >> Okay. Were you were you planning on hurting yourself at all with a knife? >> No. Cross my mind. I would like to get you help for if that's the case. Would you be willing to talk to Crisis at all? Obviously, it wouldn't affect what would happen tonight, but >> Yeah. >> Okay. Do you want to talk talk to him tonight while we're here? >> It don't matter. I'll be >> Well, I I genuinely like want you to do better so that we don't have to have these interactions again. I don't think tonight was positive for anybody. I don't think it was good for you. It definitely wasn't fun for us. I'll do whatever I can, you know, with the resources that I'm given to to make sure that you get the help that you need and um we don't have to do this again cuz I really don't want to see you in this situation again. Cuz what what's crossing my mind when I'm dealing with somebody that just stole a knife from Walmart and they're trying to run out past me, it's like what else are they going to do? Are they going to stab me? That's that's a that's a serious concern for us. I'm not saying stealing alcohol is not a big deal because honestly when you steal from the store it jacks prices up for everybody else and times are tough already and you know that. But like stealing knife, stealing weapon, that kind of gets to a whole new level and it really like when I hear that going up to a call, it makes me super concerned right off the bat. I'd prefer to figure out what's going on with you and get you the actual help that you need. So if you're willing to talk to them, I'll call them. Like I said, it's not changing anything tonight, but like in the future, maybe you'll have some resources from them that you can actually kind of fix the problems that are going on and put you in a better situation. I'll give him a call. Have you ever dealt with the crisis before? >> Hey, uh, so I'm out here with Seth. Told him that I wanted to reach out to some resources and have him talk to you. So, I'm going to hand the phone over to him. I'm just going to put on speaker. Is that okay? >> Yeah. You're all sit on. >> He was hit with a stack of charges after the Walmart incident. According to the report, they include retail theft for shoplifting knives, alcohol, and other items. Resisting an officer running from police and fighting during the arrest. Carrying a concealed knife since he had a large knife hidden in his backpack. Habitual criminality, meaning he already had a record, and this just adds to it. felony resisting causing injury because the struggle and resistance led to injury risk during the takedown. Bystanders helping cops is brave but also dangerous, especially when grandma with her shopping cart is closer to the knife fight than she ever planned to be. If you like this video, please sign up for law zone to receive more. Look out for the next Karen who will react even more aggressively. >> Okay. Yeah, she's 156 video. Okay. >> All right. Thank you. On March 8th, 2025, Las Cruus's police are called to Walmart after loss prevention spots a woman who thinks her hoodie doubles as a shopping cart. She loads up her hoodie and purse, skips the checkout. >> You guys, so you don't you don't you have any plates on you, Don? >> Do you mind stepping out of the car on to that side? Do you mind stepping out of the car? >> Okay. So, do you mind turning off your car for now and and zipping out as well? Do I have >> It's just mainly Okay, so you were caught uh shoplifting at the Walmart. >> Officers stop her and immediately notice two red flags missing license plates and Walmart's HD surveillance of her playing purse Tetris with stolen goods. She denies everything like it's a bad improv routine and refuses to go back to the store. >> Do you mind stepping out? Do you mind stepping out of the car? >> I need to pop up a class. >> Do you that you're shoplifting at the Walmart? >> You could come check. >> Do you mind stepping out of the car? >> Oh my god. and step over here with this officer that's in back. >> There's nothing on here. It's just her. Is there any reason why you don't have any license put on your truck right there? >> It's in the back window. >> Oh, is it? Okay. >> Yeah, if you can please. >> Where's Where's are her bags? Is did she put in >> Where the he >> Okay, >> what are all the bags? They took everything out and she said she took >> they said it was something under a grade and they took it out which was wrong and something but they said she had left it out in that purse but it doesn't have anything in there. >> So they do have you on camera >> that you concealed some items some chains. They did they said they put they saw you putting it in your purse. >> You guys want to check my purse? >> So at this time I do need to take you back over there. They're going to trespass you. >> Don't want to go back over there. you guys are doing here? >> Police explain she needs a trespass notice and mug shot for Walmart's do not enter list. She reluctantly agrees, gets patted down, and earns a free Uber ride in the back of a patrol car. >> I'm I'm >> So the way the Walmart does their stuff, they need to take a picture of you cuz you are being officially trespassed. You're not allowed to go back and they need your picture for that. So I do need to take you back for them. >> I don't want to go back over there. I really don't. >> Take a picture of me and take it to them. It doesn't work with that. >> That might wind up with them wanting to press charges on >> and then we would end up taking >> that they think I put in my purse. >> I haven't seen the video and I'm just talking to you. So you're you're telling me you didn't steal it? I I have no idea. >> I have no idea. >> So we need to go back watch the video. >> Um take a picture of me and that's fine. And could I leave? And they could ban me for whatever they think I sold. >> And could I leave? >> Yep. As long as they're not going to press charges. >> I just don't want to guys that we're right there. I'll deal with anybody else in there but them. >> Okay. >> We'll just have you deal with her. Is that >> I'm cool with that. >> So, since I I'm going to put you in my unit. You're not under arrest or anything right now. Um is it okay if I pat you down cuz you are going into my unit. You don't have anything that's going to poke, stick me, or anything? >> I don't got nothing. >> I'm just going to check. Okay. >> Yeah. Um >> 1126 copy 21 request for It's in the car. >> Yeah, it's in the front seat. Actually, no. No. Uh, he'll grab it. Just describe it. It's black. >> It's just um my wallet. >> Oh, it's just a wallet. You don't have like an actual purse? >> I have a wallet. >> Okay. All right. Is it okay if he grabs it? >> All right. Just put your arms behind your back. Like I said, you're not under arrest. It's just procedure for for a pat down. Okay. >> Just like that. Yeah. Just like that. And you don't have anything on you, right? >> Girl, you'd be surprised. All right. >> It's a big Yes, that one. >> Yes. I can see it because I'm blind. I don't have my contact on. Yeah. >> At Walmart, staff bring receipts of stolen goods, but two jewelry chains are missing. She doesn't want to go into the office, so she's handcuffed. Accessorizing her outfit with Walmart's finest stainless steel bracelets. >> I don't like your guys' cars. Look at this. All right. He's going to hold on to your bag. Okay. [Music] >> I'm stuck in there. >> I'm not dealing with him. And then you're all the other. Which other asset protection office is there resist? >> Uh, did you find any of the items on me? like >> you want to come tell me >> what's your name? >> Uh, I came in villaining and you are being very disrespectful. I talked. >> She waves around receipts like their get out of jail free cards. Officers calmly remind her receipts don't cover items you stuffed inside your hoodie like a kangaroo pouch. >> The body cheese that she had put. >> I look good. >> So, you're being arrested for shoplifting, right? No, I'm not aware that I shopl with it. >> You don't remember them taking the items out of your bag? And >> you didn't take anything out of my bag. >> Okay, that's fine. >> Is the Robello Vista address good for you? >> No, I don't have an address. >> You're homeless. >> I want you all >> right there. It won't >> It won't tighten on you. >> You tell me they're going to tell me. I want the receipts. I have proof that I didn't take anything. uh other asset protection guys. >> Okay, that's me. Surveillance proves she bought one hoodie, then treated it like Mary Poppins's bag stuffing jewelry and other items inside before strolling past registers. Loss prevention recovers some items, but those shiny chains are still on the missing list. cooperative with me >> inside the gray hoodie. >> Yeah, thank you. >> It's all on video. >> It's all on video. So >> I brought that me I don't know why you concealed them. It's weird, right? >> I >> That's odd. I agree. >> And I bought this shirt. >> You bought some. Not the ones that were concealed inside. >> There shouldn't be nothing in Libby. >> Well, there was. >> We're going to take it. >> Okay. all the 49. >> Okay, we're doing good. >> Did they give you the sheet? I think she has 40s that she can't confirm on. >> Oh, okay. >> So, it's going to be suspect is >> This is yours. But, and then they have video of her concealing the items in other items. So, then >> there was another brown bag that she had that she could see in the video and it was the jewelry that she put inside the purse. >> Okay. She's walking out, past all points of purchase. She's right here in this little >> Police confirm the details, officially trespass her from Walmart, and start paperwork. At this point, she's one step away from getting banned from Black Friday altogether. >> Uh, I didn't send them a link. And then I did get the receipt for that. So, it's 7878. >> The other female didn't conceal concealer. So, it was like four shirts, three bras. >> The link I think he's going to want to do for her. Anything else for me? Do you need anything else? >> No link. I have the RP info. I got hers trespass and then I have the receipt and items. And then send them the link for them to upload it. Correct. Okay. 575 one is good for him. >> For the RP, you could just send that link. Okay. And then I'll do primary and then honestly it'll just say that TD. question. >> Do you have a case? >> I have one lady in the office. What? >> Oh, okay. >> Yeah. Yeah. She can't go in. >> All right. I'll do a suck for this one. >> I'm just waiting for a case number. >> Oh, she she got it. She's awesome. So, we are getting >> Yeah, I'm just waiting for a case number. >> Instead of jail, she gets a criminal citation for shoplifting with 3 days to show up in court. If she ghosts the court date, a warrant will be her next prize. >> Just a citation, you know, not doing that, you know, cook items. Um, once you sign it, you just promise him to appear at the court within the next it'll within the next 3 days. Uh, make sure you go though, otherwise they'll put out a warrant for you. And then after that, you can just um I'll let you I'll release you. But um give me like a few minutes. I have to tag it up. >> And then hang out here. >> Thank you. >> All right. So, go ahead and sign here. Like I said, I explained when we're kind of walking out here. Um >> where are you? >> Right here. And then the bottom copy is yours. So, you have until the day. I circled it on your paper, okay? To show up to the the court mentioned on top. It's up to this. >> So, all the information you you need court date. Make sure you just take care of it on Monday. >> Otherwise, if you don't mind is when they are the ones that you're on the receipt, I just represent that to the judge. >> Yeah. You just talk to them. Show everything you have. >> Okay. >> And then go from there. Make sure you take care of that. Okay. >> All right. Stay out of trouble. >> All right. You guys have a good one. >> She signs the ticket and is released. Final charge shoplifting backed up by video. witnesses and the world's saddest hidden in hoodie trick. Even small thefts are taken seriously when caught on video and backed by witness reports. Trying to deny or resist only adds to the consequences you'll face in court. All right, let's move to this next case where things might get even messier. >> How old are you, Mrs. Brown? >> I'm 21. >> And you? Officers were dispatched to a JC Penney after what started as a routine day for store security escalated into a major theft investigation. Two women had been caught attempting to steal merchandise valued in the thousands. >> Halloween was in >> Whose purse is this? Right. >> Do you have a Florida license? I don't know. Are you here on vacation? >> When are you going back to Jamaica? >> I didn't care. No, I know. It's like it >> Yeah, I know. I just want to put it. >> Not right now. What's your date of birth? >> I It's okay. >> Huh? That's what they took. >> Yes. >> What's the total together? >> Maybe. >> Uh, it's about 900 940. >> Oh, you guys are going to jail. >> Mrs. Brown, >> you're not answering the phone. Please don't ask me. >> Can I answer, please? >> No. I have someone at my house for days to go to the gift side. >> Yeah, that's not happen. [Music] >> All right. What belongs to you guys? Is this person yours? >> And what? Okay. Where's this guy? Okay. >> Oh, you're you're typing the >> Yes, the statement. >> All right. Yeah, cuz this is more >> this is a fine. >> I'm doing the statement. I'm going to get the video for >> video. All right. Well, I I got to give you a link for the video. >> Oh, I want you to send it. With almost $3,000 worth of merchandise at stake, the store wasted no time in confirming that charges would be pursued. The two suspects, however, seemed convinced they could smooth talk their way out of the situation despite the evidence stacked against them. >> That No, they're pressing charges. >> Who got the call? PBS. >> Oh, it was. Okay. >> You know, sometimes we get theirs. >> Yeah. >> Company. You never see >> it be easier for me if they let you. >> I just asked them if I can just pay for it. It is. >> What is your phone number cameras in here? I don't know what you guys think. >> And you have I'm going to read you your rights before we proceed with any questions cuz didn't know the amount was so large. You have the right to remain silenced and no answer any questions. Understand that right? >> Yes. >> Any statements you make must be freely and voluntarily given. You have the right to the president of the representation of a lawyer of your choice before you make any statements and during any questioning. If you cannot for a lawyer, you are entitled to the representation to the presence and representation of a courted lawyer before you make any statements and during any question. If at if at any time during the interview you do not wish to answer any questions, you are privileged to remain silent. I can make no threats or promises to induce you to make a statement. This must be on your own free will. Any statements can be and will be used against you in the court of law. [Applause] >> How old are you, Mrs. Brown? I'm 21. >> And you? 21. Whose bad idea was this? >> But the officers aren't easily fooled two suspects. One empty purse and thousands in stolen merchandise point to a coordinated effort and likely not their first time attempting such a scheme. >> Can I have that, please? >> You have anything in your bra in your pockets? cuz if you bring anything to the jail, it's going to be >> the best. You don't want to >> I don't think he's going to That was uh >> So why why are they doing it together with people? >> Oh, it's the same crime. You guys came here to steal at the same time. It's not a separate crime. You guys are here together. You took half. She took half. And when you add both half, now you got a phone. Anything else? >> Can that come off? >> Let's pay for this stuff. >> Like you said, it's not that easy. That was that was step number one was to pay for it before walking off. >> So you guys love here? >> No. >> All right. You guys need never been arrested before. Let me tell you. I'm being extremely nice. I don't have to. So we, you know, everything's on video. >> Whatever I'm asking, everything that you guys did is on video. Mhm. We drove her outside. >> Um, are you guys okay with it? >> What's up? >> With the vehicle being outside, >> can someone come over and pick it up? Yeah. >> At this stage, officers shift their focus to whether the pair may have hit other stores. But with both suspects dodging responsibility and sticking to vague answers, the chances of getting a clear admission appear slim. >> Uh, whose car is it? Just lock down cuz they'll be trespassed. >> Yeah, I know. Whose uh whose vehicle is it? >> It's my boyfriend's car. >> Okay. Uh >> besides JC Patty, did you guys also went to a different store? >> No. >> You came directly here? >> No, we had supper. >> No, that was >> Did you shop live at a different store here in >> just only on this place? >> Yes. Are those like personal clothing or kids clothing or who was the clothes for? For you guys or for >> my daughter and myself. >> Okay. And the same with you? >> Yeah. >> Guess what? You got a daughter, too? >> Yeah. [Music] Have you guys been here before? Have you been here before since you're not from the US? >> I've shopped here before. Yes. >> Okay. All right. Is there anything you would like to say? >> Yes. It took a little too many. Once he passes the misdemeanor, you I can give you a ticket at a court date. Whatever. Everybody makes mistakes. Felony, you know, there's no I got >> my own mistake. Can she make her own mistake? >> Huh? >> We make our own separate mistakes. >> No, it was it was it's the same crime. How long What time did you guys get here? >> I don't know. got here maybe half an hour ago. That's all. >> You took all that in 30 minutes. >> Both suspects now put on a show of remorse. Yet, it remains unclear whether they truly regret what they did or just regret getting caught in the act. >> Are you sorry for what you did? >> I am extremely sorry. Thank you for your honesty, Mrs. Brown. How about you? No. >> And you guys got like no record. I don't. I don't. >> I thought you were BSing me. >> I thought I thought you were lying. But you messed up bigger than her cuz you're not from here. All right. So, I got my confession. Excuse me. I'm burning the right now. >> That's a statement. >> Yeah, that's a statement. >> You got Do you have their names? >> Yes. >> Who gave them to you? >> I got the names. >> Who's Anna? Ann is the is the is the oldest. Nice. That's not the name. That's not their name. Okay. Shane Williams. What's that? >> Yeah, that that's the other one. That's the name she gave. >> I'm sorry. [Music] >> I assume the address is the wrong one, too. Shaim Sha Shakon Williams. No, that's that's a young girl. She gave you, I guess, her first name, you know, but it's not it's not um >> with the paperwork complete and the case officially documented, officers proceed to take the two women into custody and escort them for booking. >> I'm going to look through some records, but I swear I've seen that before. >> Who are both of them from other balls? They got they got no >> never been caught. >> The case concludes with both suspects being charged with felony grand theft. Greed may offer quick gains, but it always ends in loss. Honesty is the only path that keeps you free. What a stubborn Karen, right? Comment your opinion about this shoplifter below. Some criminals get so brazen they treat theft like a routine errand. That was the case with a young man named Dachwin who made a bold and foolish move on December 6th, 2022. Just 24 hours after swiping merchandise from a Best Buy, he returned to the same store, seemingly unfazed by the risk of getting caught. His overconfidence would soon catch up with him. >> All right. Well, can someone show us a security video? Cuz I'm going to have to prove that he stole something first before I can put my hands on him. >> Can you go? >> Is that him right there? >> Yes. >> And y'all can positively identify that it was him who stole yesterday. >> I have Yeah, the sunglasses on yesterday. >> Okay. So, all three of y'all saw him shotless yesterday. Oh, what did he take? >> That PS4 controllers. Yeah, he he too. >> Hang tight, boss, man. >> Me? >> Yeah. >> Hang tight. >> Yes, sir. You're not free to go right now, bro. Hang tight. Oh, come here. [Music] >> Stand right here. >> You got anything on you right now? Any guns? Anything? >> I ain't got nothing. >> You care if I check. Just make sure you got any guns on you. >> I ain't got nothing on you. >> Is that just a bottle opener right there? Or is that just a pocketk knife? >> Oh, yeah. box. >> All right, man. Oh, don't reach for it. All right. >> One of the officers recognized Dain as he casually strolled toward the exit, acting as if nothing had happened. They weren't about to let him slip away that easily but without concrete evidence in hand. Making an arrest on the spot wasn't yet an option. >> So, so, so, so, so I'm not going to lie to you. I'm just I'm going to tell you what the gig is. Just that way you know why I'm stopping you. Okay. We're here working a shot lifting investigation. Okay. >> Okay. >> Now, did you shot with anything from here yesterday? If you if you did, just be honest with me. [Music] >> I didn't even I was going to go to Plasma, then I changed my mind. >> You were going to do what, sir? >> I was going to go to Plasma, then I changed my mind. >> When? >> Yesterday. >> All right. So, did you come to the store at all yesterday? >> No, I came by the store. Like, I walked by the store. >> You walked by the store, but you didn't walk in the store at all? Nothing like that? >> I didn't go in the store. >> What kind of clothes you have on yesterday? >> Just so I can go down there and just and just confirm that you were down there yesterday. No, I did say I did. Now, you just said you said I didn't go. I said I changed my mind, >> right? No, I'm talking about go down there to Plasma. >> I didn't. >> You said you you said you walked by the store >> to go to Plasma. >> No, I walked by this store. I thought you were talking about here. I walked by here. >> Yeah. >> Right. But you said you went down there to to the uh to the plasma place right there. >> I only went to use the bathroom. >> Den claimed he hadn't even been to the store the day before and insisted that the person caught on camera wasn't him. He pointed out that he was wearing completely different clothes than the suspect in the footage. To make matters more suspicious, he told officers he didn't have any ID on him, explaining that he had left it in someone else's car. >> You got any ID on you, brother? >> Who do you got ID on you? >> No. >> Do you have an ID? >> No, my ID got uh I left my ID in somebody uh car. >> When did you do that? >> Like probably a month ago. >> Man, how did you uh HUD donate any plastic? You got to have an ID to do that? cuz I was already donate donating plasma before I lost my ID. >> So you were donating plasma before you lost your ID? >> Yeah, >> I was already donating before I lost my ID. >> But you don't have to have an ID to actually go in there anymore? >> No, not after you did it the first time. >> Okay. >> Legit, we can walk down there and go >> I'm going to go down there in a second. >> Jesus. >> Did you have sunglasses at all yesterday? >> No. >> No. >> I a sunglasses. While this physical appearance alone made the connection pretty clear. The matching clothing served as that extra piece of evidence officers needed. However, taking him into custody wouldn't be as straightforward as expected. What should have been a simple arrest quickly turned into a much more complicated situation. Hey everybody, you know how many people wear black and white shoes? >> Bro, you told me you wearing a black sweatuit. >> No, I ain't saying no black sweat suit. I said blue. >> Sorry. >> Blue. Yeah. >> Right there. >> Mhm. >> This is where he grabs the headphones. You can see him walk around. He disappears for a second, comes right back, walks right. >> That's right. Come on, man. >> Please, bro. Please. >> Can I listen to you? >> Turn around. >> Once Dawkins was finally placed in the back of the police car, the tough act crumbled. The young thief broke down in tears, crying and even calling out for his mother. It's a scene officers have witnessed time and time again. When the consequences become real, the bravado quickly fades. >> Get the car. I'm getting in. I'm sorry. Sorry. >> Good. Good fight. All of us. >> All of us were good. >> Yeah. I cut my hand, but I'm all right. >> Let me see your hand. >> It's a It's a small cut, but I mean, >> no. No, please. I want to go. I want to go. I can't go. I can't go. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. He was officially charged with theft by shoplifting, obstruction of a law enforcement officer, and interference with government property, turning what began as a bold return to the scene into a stack of serious legal consequences. Think you're smarter than store security? Think again. What starts as petty theft can quickly spiral into serious charges. >> Get the [ __ ] off of me. No. >> No. >> No. No. >> On October 4th, 2023 in Florida, officers rolled up to a 76 gas station after reports that a woman had stolen candy and chips of petty theft that quickly spiraled out of control. When approached, the woman flat out denies stealing anything and gives officers the name Kina. She seems cy, dodging questions and generally being less than helpful. >> I don't have no handling. >> You didn't? >> No. >> All right. We'll have to show up and stuff and if they say it's you, we'll arrest you. Okay. >> Okay. >> That works. >> Touch the bag. There's no candy in it. >> We're just going to see if you were one that stole. It's been a while. So whether or not you have whatever they say you stole or not, we'll talk to them. Okay. >> Will you hang out with her for a second? We're just going to go back over there and just talk to them. >> Hello. >> Hi. >> How are you doing today? >> You what? >> Check the bag. There's no candy. Check the bag. Check the camera. There's no candy. >> I have no idea. >> Okay. Well, >> they asked for someone else to show up here, so here I am. Here, get yours. So, she matches the description. She has a design on her pants. >> Maybe it's not her. We got to figure it out. We have enough to stop her. So, we're going to go talk to the guy that works here. >> No candy. So, what the [ __ ] >> Is that what they're saying? Is she still candy? >> Yeah, that's what they're saying. >> Meanwhile, store employees review the surveillance footage and confirm yes, she did swipe some snacks, including hot Cheetos and candy. What happened to the goodies after that? No one knows. Maybe she ate the evidence. >> Recommend. >> I don't I don't know. She's saying she doesn't have any stuff on her. What did she steal? >> Saw her on the camera stealing candy and the chips. I'm not sure what she did with the candy. >> What kind of candy? >> Yellow color box candy. >> Like I said, I don't know. I I was driving past to get gas. Why would they say that? Huh? >> Why would they say that you were selling candy? >> That's what they said. They said I sold candy. >> Do you want to see if we can get the stuff back and then we'll just trespass her? If not, we can arrest her if you want. I mean, it's up to you really. It's your store. >> I mean, you guys going to arrest her and then after like 24 hours, she's going to bed on the street. >> Correct. Yeah. I don't I don't >> There's There's no point. >> We can We can Well, I can't tell you what they'll do, right? I mean, I can't say that won't happen. I also can't say that will happen. >> All right. Like I said, at this point, stop digging around. All right. Just keep your hands where I see them. >> I'm I'm going to put your handcuffs if you don't. >> Okay. >> All right. >> Yeah. >> Appreciate you. >> Cuz if it turns out it's nothing, I'm going to get out of here and we're going to be done with this. >> Okay. I stole a bag of hot I didn't steal. I took a bag of hot Cheetos. The lady popped up. I took the hot Cheetos out. Said, "Is there force? There's no force." >> Quit digging. >> Okay. Okay. Mhm. Excuse me. >> Thank you. >> We'll do whatever you want, man. It's your store. You have the rights here. >> Arrest her and uh do misdemeanor or whatever the charges against her. So that way if anyone is seeing, they won't do the same thing. >> Okay. You have surveillance video. >> Yeah. >> She stole a bunch of stuff, huh? Yeah. And then my mom, she came over there, got the chips out, but she still took a majority of the candy. >> Did she just run out after your mom confronted her? >> Yeah. >> Okay, cool. All right, we'll go arrest her and then um we'll get uh we'll come back. >> Officers decide it's time to make an arrest. That's when she admits sort of to taking the chips, but says she returned them. >> You all right? >> Yeah, I have things to do. I have an interview to go to. I have an appointment to go to. >> Where? We're at >> um the library. >> The library. You got to put the library. Valley City. >> Good for you. >> Yeah. >> Hey, so you are going to be under arrest? >> I didn't want anything. >> Well, they do have video footage of you. >> I literally didn't steal it. >> They have video footage of you. >> I didn't steal it. >> As soon as they try to cuff her, things go sideways fast. She lashes out, resists hard, and in the chaos bites one of the officers. That small time snack theft. Now we're talking felony assault. Get the [ __ ] off of me. No. >> No. >> No. No. No. >> No. >> Put your hands behind your back. Okay. >> No. >> Yeah. I got I got her hand back. If you can get that hand. >> No. Get the off of that. >> Get off. Now you're under arrest for assaulting police officer. >> That's trespass me. >> Catalina, >> it was for shop. >> No, I didn't shop. [ __ ] >> Then it upgraded to assault three when you bit my partner. >> No, cuz I shop with nothing. >> Well, you bit my partner. Officers repeatedly warn her to calm down, but she keeps screaming, flailing, and refusing to cooperate. What started as a minor incident is now racking up charges. Our body parts are recording. >> Get off of me. You trespass. >> Dude, when I jumped my leg back when she was biting me, it locked up. >> You trespassed me, right, sir? >> I think it's my old injury. >> Get off me. >> I got from here. I don't know. >> Get off of me. >> Take a breath for me. >> Just take a breath for me, Katina. >> For what? >> Right now, I just need you to take a breath to calm down. Bro, didn't you trespass me? She continues shouting that she didn't steal anything, accuses the officers of misconduct, and kicks, squirms, and obstructs everything they try to do. Chaos central. >> Assault. >> I assault you. Get off of me. Look at all these police officers. >> You're a weirdo, bro. >> Get off of me. You're literally stealing my [ __ ] >> Quit pinching me. >> Get off of me. So this side. >> No. Get off of me. No. Stop. Stop taking my stuff. >> What's in your hand? Let go. What's in your hand? >> No. I don't have nothing in my head. No. >> Even as officers try to get control, she's still yelling profanity and denying it all. But at this point, the footage, the store staff, and her own actions say otherwise. >> No. No. I'm not going to jail. >> No, I'm not going to jail. >> Stop. >> What? >> Stop. Get off of me, bro. No. >> You want to cut that thing off? >> No. Stop. Get the off of me. Stop. Get off of me cuz I still can't. Get the off of me. No, I'm lying. >> No. Get off of me. >> Get off. Get off. Stop. She's charged with felony assault, shoplifting, resisting arrest, obstructing, and making false statements. Oh, and her name? Not Kina. Not even close. Another charge for lying about her identity. In Florida, the final charges: felony assault, shoplifting, resisting arrest, obstruction, making false statements, and providing false ID can lead to multiple felony and misdemeanor convictions. With up to 10 years in prison, thousands in fines, and a permanent criminal record, giving a false name adds yet another legal blow to her already serious situation. Denying a crime doesn't erase the evidence, especially when it's on camera. Escalating with violence only upgrades the charges and guarantees jail time. >> Was there any IDs or anything? I mean, look at all those tags right in front of where the one in the back sitting. >> On May 7th, 2025 in Florida, deputies responded to a familiar call. shoplifterss at TJ Maxx. Two women were seen stuffing merchandise into bags and slipping out the door without paying. Thankfully, loss prevention got a vehicle description, and it wasn't long before officers found the suspects cruising around town. >> How you know? Step out of the car for me. >> Any believe it's going to be them. I got three females in the I think they're all involved. >> Oh, you're fine. >> Where you all coming from? Huh? What? What? No. Okay, quit. I said step out of the car. >> One by one, deputies had them step out of the car and slapped on the cuffs. >> Give me another unit here. I've got a bunch of stolen TJ Maxx stuff in the back. >> This stuff. >> Passenger, keep your hands on the dash for me. >> You keep your hands on that in front of you. Keep your hands up there in front of That's what I said. >> She didn't even go in the store. So, >> I don't care. Me neither. I got the driver secure and the other two are compliant. Without moving your hands, where's your ID in the car? >> I don't have one. >> Huh? >> I don't have one. >> You don't have one? >> It's a rental car. It's showing. It's a rental car in your name. >> No, >> ma'am. Keep your hands on the deck. Put your hands up in front of you. I said, I don't care who she's calling. >> You understand? Don't drop your hands. >> Can I see the car? Can I lean up a little bit? I'm not going anywhere. >> Yep. I just need to keep an eye on them from where you're at. >> I've got three in the car. I've got driver's skirt is still two in the car. Driver's black shirt and jeans. Front passenger a pink shirt and pink shorts. Back passenger is a pink tank top like a pink sports bra kind of and uh multicolored leggings. >> I wrote, >> huh? >> Oh, no. I said I wrote it. >> I've got hands up on both of the passengers. I if you want to get one of them out, you can. I just didn't want to. I just got to drive her out. She's incuffed right now. So, whichever one you want and then the other one, keep your hands on the cuff her up. They match the description. So, keep your hands over >> here. Just put it right here and get the other one out and cuff her up cuz the other one keeps getting on the phone. >> Yeah. Hang that phone up. >> Well, we're about to find out. All right. You should check pockets or whatever when you walk them back. >> We'll just need to do a show up whenever they get to over there. You have a valid license or no? >> No. You >> turns out one of the suspects was already on probation and out on bond for another crime. Not exactly a model citizen. >> Where do you live? >> Gainesville. Where do you live? more window. >> I'm just I didn't want your hands to come out. You got you got small wrists. >> You got small wrists. So, I just didn't want the cuffs to slip off. Any 60 a Fox right now on TJ Maxx, you can go to LA3. >> You can walk her back there, too. >> Hey, are you still looking for one there or do you think she's in the car here? Come right over here for me. >> You didn't leave anyone back? >> No, I slept in the car. >> The driver here is saying that uh they're all here in the car. They didn't leave anyone behind. Can you do a show up over here? >> I'm going to lie to you. And the pregnant girl never got out to car. Not >> there was two inside the store. >> Me and that girl right now. >> You and the other one? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> All right. >> All right. I'm going to use the back of my hand just to go over your pockets. Make sure you Is there any weed or anything in the car? I need you know about. >> Yes, sir. >> Yeah. I mean, I can smell it. So, >> all right. Again, back of my hand. Okay. >> I'm not grabbing your butt. >> All right. Turn around and relax right here for me. >> Turn around. Relax. >> She's saying it was her and another one in the store. She said >> one in your car. >> There's two in my car. pregnant. >> One woman admitted she had been in the store, and officers quickly picked up on the strong smell of marijuana coming from the car. When asked, she whipped out a medical marijuana card, but it expired, not helping her case. >> I did not. Do you want to run them and ID him and we can go from there? And you're not on probation? >> I'm not on probation, but I am. >> You got open case right now? Not on bond. >> Driving >> for driving out of where? Putinham. Well, you said you're palaca or you're from Palaca. Whose name's the car in? >> My sister. Yeah, I'm already sick here. >> You're out here committing new crimes when you get sentenced. They ain't gonna like that. Sentenced to what? 180 days just for driving. Are you habitual? >> All right. Here. Let's walk back here. Let's get you out of the rain and at least get you drive for now. You don't want to go in the back. All right. Can you just um do a full >> Yeah. Do a search of her, please. I already did the pockets with the back of my hand, but just do a search her and you put her in there for now. Just get her out of the ring. >> Here, come real quick. >> Do you have anything illegal on you? >> You have anything on you? Just stick >> um I smell weed coming out of there, so let's uh The driver said that there's weed in there, but let's make sure none of my medical marijuana card and then we can at least get that part out of the way. There's a whole bunch of TJ Maxx stuff in the back with tags all thrown on the floor. So, >> do you have a medical marijuana card? Is there any marijuana in that vehicle? >> I don't know. >> You don't know? Uh-huh. >> Marina, do you have a medical marijuana card? >> Expired. >> Expired. Okay. >> Digging through the car, deputies found piles of TJ Maxx tags, anti- theft sensors, and unbagged merchandise. All signs of a coordinated retail theft. Tags had been ripped off and stuffed in weird places like the glove box and under seats. >> The tags in the back pocket there. >> So, the back seat passenger sitting on all those, the pregnant one. I did ask her, but she's not been merandized yet. But the driver said that they were in the Daytona TJ Maxx before that one. But yeah, you can see there's just TJ Maxx stuff freaking everywhere. Yeah. All this stuff all freaking tags on it. No bags or no receipts, nothing. >> Oh, there's all the inventory control devices. Yeah. Watch out cuz they're pointy ends. >> Yeah. >> Here's Gets in. Do you see a purse or anything else on the front? Is anyone's name? >> Was there any IDs or anything? I mean, look at all those tags right in front of where the one in the back sitting. >> Yeah. >> That are all ripped off. So, the pregnant one was here sitting on all these clothes. >> Okay. >> And right in front of her is all the ripped off tags. >> Which one? Cuz you're saying they're both pregnant. The one in the >> one with just the top. >> The one that's obvious. >> The one in just the sports bra looking thing. She was here with all the ripped off tags and everything is it's all up there in front of that. Did we pop the trunk yet? >> No, we haven't gotten the trunk yet, but they're saying that they were at Daytona TJ Maxx before this one. Where the pregnant one in the back was sitting is one of those metal tags. So, like they're popping those off, too. >> One woman kept claiming she had nothing to do with it despite sitting directly on the stolen goods. Daniel only goes so far when the evidence is quite literally under you. >> You're sitting on a bunch of stolen stuff in the car. >> I didn't steal nothing though. >> You're sitting on it all? >> No, I was not sitting on it. I swear. You were in the back seat, right? >> But that was not my >> But all this all this clothes. >> She kept saying she was just along for the ride and didn't even know what was going on. Her defense, I only came because the driver is my child's godmother. Sweet story, but unfortunately not a legal defense. >> Her when I was sleep, I was laying down. I was not hiding them. I swept. >> So all of it was You were laying on top of all it? >> No, not like to hide it, but I was using cushion to like what? And the other thing is all the stolen all the tags that are all pulled off are all right in front of where you're sitting in the back. >> I swear God that was not me, sir. >> I mean, you need better friends than I imagine, right? >> But they told you I was not I wasn't stealing. Like I wasn't stealing. Like that man can confirm. We go watch those. >> I know. Yeah. You didn't You weren't in there, correct? >> What happened? >> But you're on top of all the stolen property and stuff. >> No, that was not my stuff. It wasn't like that. That's what I'm trying to say. It was not like that. But you're going with them from store to store and they're stealing stuff. >> I was in the back seat. I was not stealing stuff. >> I know you're not getting out, but you're in the car with them going store to store. >> I did not know, sir. I swear for God, I did not know. >> Okay. You got to check it up with the deputy that's investigating it. We need to ask them. Uh we'll talk to her when she gets back up for >> cuz I was not stealing. Like what? I did not do nothing. They could vouch for that. I did not steal. That's not none of my stuff. That's not mine. I don't steal. You seen my I don't steal. It's not my cup of tea at all. >> Why don't you tell him to stop? Why are you with her? >> All she asked me to do was ride with her. I did not know. All she said was, "Please ride with me." I said, "I'm just going to me and her sister." Before she dropped her sister off, she said, "I need one of y'all to ride with me." I was going to go in the house and she >> and what city? >> Putnham County. >> I'm not even from here. >> Paga. >> Yeah. I'm from Gainesville. I was just with her cuz that's my child's godmother. All she said was, "I need somebody to ride with me." I said, "Okay, cool." problem is is that they come out of here with all this stuff with no bags, no receipts. >> You're laying on top of all of it. >> The deputy calmly explained that just being present, especially with stolen items and a prior theft record makes her criminally responsible. Whether she stuffed the bags or not, she was going down with the crew. >> My stolen [ __ ] No. Hell no. Not my stone [ __ ] Sorry, excuse my French, but not my sto. Yeah, I get it. >> No, no, not lying on top of it. And then all the tags that are popped off are all in your seat right in front of where you're sitting. >> Hell yeah. >> Hell no. >> No one else is in the back. It's just you. >> I tell you like I did not do that. >> I know. But no one else is in the back. It's just you. >> You don't think these people parked? They probably did. I did not do that. I'mma touch that stuff first. I don't want it. It's not my stuff. >> I did not do No, that's not my No. No. >> I'll talk to the deputy. I'll talk to you. No. So, the deputy that's investigating it is dropping the witness back off at the store and then they'll come up here and talk to you. But you're under arrest for sure. Are you out on bond right now? Cuz you got a bunch of theft history in tons of tons of different counties. So, this is a felony for you for both of them. For you and the girl driver. For >> real. She got felonies. >> Yeah. They've been arrested like she been arrested a bunch for stealing. >> Like 10 times probably. >> Only one I know is one that is bad though. >> She been arrested a bunch for stealing too. But you're in the car. You're involved in this? >> Oh, >> yeah. You're in it whether you want to be or not. I don't think so. Toshi is done. I'm just waiting on them to They got all the stolen property inside the car. They still got to take back to TJ Maxx. Apparently, it stolen from a different TJ Maxx like in Daytona. All that, all that, that. I tested the weed for them. Like a bunch of hats from like Hobby Lobby. So, let me ask you before this cuz they're pulling all the Daytona store video. Were you in Daytona store? >> No, sir. >> TJ Maxx? >> No, sir. >> Hobby Lobby? >> No, sir. >> You sure? You never went in any store? >> Ask the guy? No, sir. Was she in any of these stores? >> No. >> Cuz we're going to find out if you work. >> We could all go pictures of them. Really? >> Yeah. You need to get good pictures of her before you cut her loose. >> Yeah, just take the two and be done with it. >> Oh, yeah. >> In the end, all three women were hit with felony grand theft charges, possession of anti-shoplifting devices, and more. The total value of the loot over $1,000 with prior convictions bumping the charges up. In Florida, with the stolen goods valued over $1,000 in prior convictions, their charges are elevated, potentially leading to up to 5 years in prison per felony, hefty fines, and permanent felony records that carry long-term consequences. Even riding with the wrong crowd can land you in serious legal trouble. When stolen goods are in your car, denial won't undo the evidence.
