Is it the male who took the car? >> He didn't take nothing. Do y'all >> Okay. But he took the car and left you guys. Is that right? No, >> I was in there shopping. He went to go get some food. That was it. That's how >> All right. You got your ID on you? >> Yes. >> It's in the car with my purse. >> Is that him right there? >> Yeah. I'm put my baby in the car. I ain't steal. That's all that matters. I ain't steal nothing. >> You got your ID on you. >> Sit back, girl. You have to sit back. >> Sit back, son. You have to sit back. >> Tensions grew as staff and police reviewed surveillance. The suspects argued they had planned to pay and complained about poor treatment. >> Sit down. >> Are you saying you did not steal anything? >> It's on camera. Check it out. Did you Did you walk out the door with anything? >> Check it out, man. I don't care. >> I appreciate you. >> Hang tight for me. All right. >> You don't mind. Can you just like You can walk. I know what's up. >> You're good, man. >> Make sure we got there. So, we're going to hit them both with Complicity. He selected all the merchandise. You can steal it all. >> Okay. Can I see the video of this? >> Yeah, absolutely. All right. It's >> been a while since I've seen you. >> It has been. It's a good thing. No, we we still get hit. >> We going to catch them all. >> All right. How tall are you? >> Uh 6'4. >> You and me the same height, but I feel shorter next to you. >> Really quick brief summary. Just tell me what's going on. Why are we here? >> The hat. Well, we tried to buy it, but he act like we couldn't buy. He said police officer. And I'm not even trying to say no race and stuff, but he looked like he was one of them. You know, we black. So, he wanted us to say I guess he wanted us to not pay and just talk to y'all. >> Okay. So you guys had a hat and you said you were planning on paying it. >> Yeah. Cohart. The cohort hat. I don't know if you know if it's what it is, but it's cohort. >> Cohart. Yeah. >> Put it back. He He got it. >> Okay. Did you guys have a cart or anything or were you just >> cash like push grocery cart? That's what I'm saying. >> Oh yeah. >> Okay. So you guys had a grocery cart, whatever. >> We was going I was going shop. They ain't got nothing I see. I like that's it. That's all. I picked them up right as they were in men's. Started watching them look like they're concealing. >> Loss prevention, however, stated the woman had hidden several hats under the baby in the stroller. The items were recovered when she reluctantly pulled them out after being stopped >> underneath the baby. Long story short, they did went to stop him. They stopped her, stopped her with backup. When he came back and throwing very hostile yelling, I'll just strip right here. I ain't got [ __ ] on me. A word I'm not going to say, stuff like that. >> Okay. So once we got like right here, she goes, "This pulls everything out cuz she's gonna go and ditch it." And I'm like, "No, you got to keep coming with me." She's like, "I got to grab something else." I'm like, "No, no, no. Come on." Finally, once we got right there, she goes, "This pulls everything out." Walked out the door. >> Okay. You guys didn't put any clothing. >> In your like sweatshirt, anything like that. You didn't put in the baby stroller, baby carriage. >> I gave it all back. I gave them back to them. >> Okay. How many items did you get back? >> All of it. It was just the hats. Just the hats. How many hats? >> It was like three little coconut hats. >> Okay, let's do this cuz I'm cold, too. How about we just sit sit back here? I'll turn the heat on. All right. >> I don't want to get >> You're not going. Well, I said I can open that door up. I won't even close the door on you. >> I don't want to get in. I gave him everything back. I know. I'm not I just saying we're here cuz you guys are being hostile. You know, they're trying to talk to you guys, trying to work things out >> where the most you guys probably would have got was just get trespassed and called back. They're both Yeah, they're both good. >> They're both good. >> So, we'll just wait for that. >> So, those two are together. >> Yes, these two. She's the one that >> Staff also noted additional items. Jeans, a hoodie, shirts that were picked up but later put back. The original recorded loss totaled 11876. Committed >> that the she walked out with it. He was just like merchandise with her. But we picked them up and they were way back here. >> So it's like the jeans, the hoodie. >> There's some other things I can't remember off the top of my head. Jeans, hoodie that they put back there, the white shirt, black jeans, two hats. I think that I believe that's it. >> Okay. >> It was a total of 11876. >> Yep. >> What is she selecting there? >> Uh she was just concealing merchandise with the >> All right. Can you show me that again? >> Yep. seal in there and then just conceal it like that. >> That's pretty. I gave them everything back. >> It doesn't matter. I mean, you guys still have the intent to do it. >> They can still press charges on you. I'm really hoping they don't. >> Okay. >> But they can still go through with that. >> When I gave it back, >> now if you would to work with them, maybe walked to their back office. It wasn't I didn't give him no bad >> sign something saying like hey I can't come back anymore. >> It's just him cuz he don't don't put it on my name like >> I understand where he coming from. >> Yeah. They said you guys bring hostile just relax. >> Mhm. >> Nothing too serious. >> I just don't understand why he drove off and left you and the baby. Especially when you guys are out in this cold. >> No, he went to go get something to eat. We were supposed to be in there long. >> We have a good offense. Ara, it's going to be end up being both. The male aided in selecting the merchandise. She concealed it and the baby carrier total loss is 118 bucks. LP says they were stopped at the door. >> Was the merchandise recovered? >> Yes. >> All of it was >> Yes. >> All merchandise was recovered. unclear death charges or trespass or DC what we what we think uh we're going to do they do want to proceed with it I think we're for the male it's going to be more of a complicity they we just noticed something with the male involved so we're going to double check to make sure he did not conceal anything in his pants and stuff as well all right I've got loss prevention here we're working on some affidavit real quick >> officers pated down and detained the male for questioning meanwile While the woman continued denying theft, repeatedly asking why she was being accused as officers read her rights. >> I'm going to get a copy of the receipt now. Meet you guys out front. >> Okay, we're going to get him out and secure him. >> All right, Mr. Wood, are you good if I patch you down? >> No. >> No, you're not. >> Pound me down for it. >> But to make sure that you didn't steal anything. >> I asked him did he want me to strip [ __ ] naked? He told me no. I was good. >> I'm asking you. >> Hello. So you asking me to search me because you feel like I stole something. >> Pat you down. I'm not going to search you. >> Hold this man. Let me bish you back. >> For what? >> My bandit found my band. >> No sir, you are under arrest. >> What? >> I stole? When did I steal? Where? How did I steal? >> You guys don't have to walk out with merchandise. >> Hold on. How did I steal? >> We're going to go over all that. Just hold on. What >> did I just steal when I ain't had [ __ ] >> bro? What? >> How did I >> You were also not free to go. Okay. All right. >> Don't drive off. All right. >> He's going to go in the back of the car. I'm going to pull up this cruiser. >> You just said I stole. >> How did I You're not going to jail as of right now. So, do not drive off. Do you understand, Miss Ramy? Do you understand? Okay. >> Can I get in the truck? >> Just Just hang tight for me. All right. walk over to my car over here. >> Y'all basically cutting me up because I was hostile. Y'all didn't like that. That's what's going on. That's what's going on. Basically, just be honest. Y'all didn't like that. I was being hostile with the situation due to the fact I didn't steal. What am I stealing for? I have money on me. I asked him, "Did he want me to buy this shit?" He said, "No." He tried to make me go back there. I told him, "No, I ain't steal [ __ ] What am I going back there for?" And I walked out. So, how did I steal? Can you explain it now? >> I will. You can go ahead. >> I'm going to read you your rights first. I don't want >> I want you to No, I want you No, I want you to tell me. What did I hear? >> Yeah, absolutely. >> What the [ __ ] >> What did I steal? >> I promise I'm going to go over all that with you. >> All right. But I have to read you your rights first before we have a conversation. You have pocket. >> You don't got anything on you? Money. Money. Oh, bro. This [ __ ] don't Can Okay, can you explain now? >> Yep. Let me read your right three main silent, etc., etc. >> All right. So, they reviewed the cameras. Yeah. The Miyu trying to conceal uh merchandise. $118 worth of merchandise. >> How did I try to conceal anything? >> They stopped you. They retrieved the merchandise. >> They didn't retrieve nothing from me. Not my personal. >> Well, I mean, there's an officer in there. He's reviewing body camera or camera footage. So, you told me you told us to go check the cameras and somebody's doing that and that's what it shows. You're trying to conceal merchandise or something. >> It shows me dropping it in the car seat. That don't mean that we trying to steal anything. >> Okay. >> What the >> All right. So, that was the answer to your question. >> Then I asked him to buy this [ __ ] He said no. So, can I go in here and buy that [ __ ] >> No. Like I said, you're under arrest. >> All right. Cool. Close the door. That's all it is. >> Can I get your seat belt? So from video evidence, everything like that, you guys are concealing merchandise, correct? You told me about the multiple hats. How many hats? Like I said, just keep working with that. >> Police explained that concealment and attempting to exit without paying qualifies as attempted theft. With surveillance as evidence, both were warned they could face charges or at minimum a trespass. >> So we can work with you a little bit better. >> Yeah. >> He's going to jail. >> So as of right now for them, Okay. I said the camera footage, we're still going on it. >> Okay. Our policy is we usually take two like people who get charged with that to jail. Okay. We're trying to work with you so you don't go tonight and give you a court date. But I would prefer to get your side of the story a little bit better now. Okay. That way we don't have to take him take you and your baby needs to get picked up by somebody else. >> We took a couple items but put it back. He got it all. He don't We don't have nothing. >> Okay. You took a couple items. Were you planning on paying for them? >> Yes. He was going to pay for some. >> And where did you put those items at that you were planning on playing? >> He got them. I told you I gave them to him >> when you first picked them up. Where did you put them at? >> Did you put them in a cart? Did you put them in the baby's uh baby carrier? >> Baby carrier. But we don't I used it as the cart, you know. Okay. >> He got He got everything. >> You put underneath the baby. On top of the baby. >> On top. >> On top. Okay. Were there any other items? But your intent was to steal them. It did not work that way. You put them out and you guys did not walk out with any clothing. Correct. >> Okay. >> And you know you can still get charged with theft for attempting, right? >> Okay. I said they're going through camera footage. They see everything. >> I said it might have been better. You guys were a little bit nicer. You could have got trespass. >> I understand. >> Okay. >> I was nice. Okay. >> I wasn't there. >> I'm not approved. >> Okay. >> So, like he said, hang tight. You're not free to leave yet. We're going to give you a court date and we're going to go from here. See what else is going on. All right. >> So, you attempted to steal. You were concealing. I'm You want me to answer the [ __ ] question, brother? >> All right. So, you are concealing items in the baby stroller, right? That's what she is telling us, right? And you attempted to leave the store without paying for it. They stopped you, retrieved the merchandise. That is attempt of theft. I I think you should just get behind accepting that this is happening and then you could fight it in court. All right. Uh she's going to get a court date and you're going to go down to the justice center, [Laughter] >> Ramsey. All right. So, these are the lost prevention guys. You already met them, right? So, they're going to verbally trespass you. All right. So, you can't come back to this meer ever again. >> Any meer. >> Any meer. All right. And then um they're going to take a picture just and post it up in their office so people know. All right. So I just ask you to comply with them so we can continue on with the night. All right. >> All right. Thank you. >> All right. Mr. Horn, these are loss prevention guys. All right. You already met them. All right. They're going to give you a trespass. All right. From all Myers. All right. >> So I was going to ask you to listen to them. >> I'm still going to the Justice Center. >> You're still going to justice. That doesn't change nothing. So, close the door. >> You don't want to talk to them? >> What is What am I talking about? I didn't steal [ __ ] >> I'm going to trespass you from the Green Township Meer. Okay. >> I didn't steal. >> That's okay. It has nothing to do with anything. I could >> trespass you because they don't want you here. All right. So, don't ever come back to Green Township Meer. Got it. You understand that? If you were found here at Green Township, >> you'll be arrested. >> Right on. >> So, I stole. So, you found me. >> You're trespassing. >> Did you find me with something? Did I steal your trespass? picture and then let you go. >> I need a picture of you from >> I'm asking you a question. Did I steal? Yes or no? >> I'm listening to the officer. >> I'm asking you a question this year. >> Just take a picture. >> Man, you got me. >> Sir, I need a photo from my reports. >> N I appreciate you. [Music] >> The can't even be stand up ass people. The is wrong with this [ __ ] bro. Put this [ __ ] in her car. Who the [ __ ] know she had? She got caught out trying to pay for this [ __ ] Who got the money? What the man? >> Careful, buddy. You get another charge. >> Get a charge for what? I ain't destructive. [ __ ] Ain't [ __ ] break. >> Yeah, you are. >> Ain't [ __ ] Nothing break. >> So, how am I getting another charge? >> I say you will if you keep it up. >> How? >> Keep acting like that. >> Acting like what? All right. >> Y'all detaining me for no reason. Yes, I will act like this. I'm innocent. You count everything in her. >> Who the [ __ ] is supposed to know she making this [ __ ] disappear? >> Final outcome. Both the man and woman were charged with theft. The man was booked and released. The woman received a scheduled court date. Trying to hide items in a baby stroller doesn't make theft any less serious. Store cameras and staff will catch it. Cooperation with officers can reduce consequences, but hostility only makes the situation worse. But this is still not the worst case. Just wait until you see this next one. >> Please don't Please don't check pressure. I have I'm begging. I'm sorry though, but can you please not? >> On December 22nd, 2024, police in Saucus, New Jersey were called to a Walmart after a shoplifting report. The suspect didn't make it far. Yeah, she >> I asked for my son to slip her. I gave when she asked for the stuff I gave. >> Here's the deal. If If you looks like you flinched at her and attempt to hit her, we'll charge you with robbery. So whatever you did, you did. If it's just a microwave, we'll talk about it. She look she kept my son's slipper and told me I said give me my son. >> If she if she if she had the micr and she pushed past you then that's robbed. Okay. >> I didn't push past her. With the store's loss prevention officer intent on pressing charges, the suspect doubles down, continuing to feed officers false details about her identity. >> Only like domestic violence, even if we have like, you know, if it was a merit, but like a robbery still >> got nothing on there. Yeah. Information provided. >> All right. So, if you lying, you're going to get arrested. So, give us the right name. Oh, I'm going to arrest you. >> I just told you. >> Okay. You want to play game. The officers continue pressing Del, determined to break through her lies and uncover the truth. >> This is the wrong game. We're charging with endangerment with the kid, too. >> You want to play games? We can play games. As you can see, we're not trying to do that, but you guys close today. What time you guys close? Thank you. >> Have anything on you that's going to poke me? >> All this money. >> After persistent questioning, Del finally admits why she's been so reluctant to give her real name. >> Deal. If nothing comes back on you, this will take you for and you'll have to give information cuz you're telling me you're arrested. >> I had a warrant. What? >> I had a woman before. >> I'm saying that. If >> I had a warrant. >> Yeah. If you had a warrant, you would keep you obviously. >> But I'm saying if they comes back and they say we can't find any information based on the you gave us, we're going to arrest you for hand. You watch two people walk out of a shopping case. Del ultimately confesses she has an active warrant. Yet, she continues withholding her ID and stubbornly insists on giving the officers a false name. >> You have a warrant. >> All right, give your right name. She got a warrant. Give the right name. Enough with this. >> All right, we're going to take her She lied again. I'm not doing this. I'm not going back. >> Can I make a phone call? >> No, I'm not. >> When we get to the station, you're floating your phone call. >> I don't know. [Applause] Do I have any? >> That is my name. >> You got the receipt and everything? >> Yeah. Thank you both. >> Thank you. >> Do you not be like so rough? >> I'm not being rough at all. >> How am I being rough? I got a body camera. Are you really going to say I'm being Where are you going? Not this way. >> All right. So, I don't know. >> Stop. You stop moving away from me. >> I'm not doing anything. We trying to let you go. You didn't try to let him go cuz you tried to let me. And I'm not coming home. Christmas is crazy. I know. >> You want to blame me about this? You really think I want to be doing this right now? >> Like, this is crazy. I never got arrested on here before >> and I know I'm not coming home because I have a warrant. >> Where's your arrest in Jersey? >> No. Make this [ __ ] over here. Is she going to go your way? Go over here. Let's go. In the end, Dell was charged with shoplifting and hindering apprehension for providing false information to police. Following the charges, Dell was released with a complaint summons in hand. Lying to avoid accountability only makes the situation worse. Facing the truth early can prevent deeper consequences later. All right, let's move to this next case where things might get even messier. >> How was it? On October 11th, 2021, our scene opens at Dick Sporting Goods where officers respond to a report of shoplifting. The suspect, a woman, is already mid plea telling officers she was going to pay but didn't have a shopping basket because obviously carrying Adidas gear in your purse is totally normal when carts aren't available here. So, there's a woman inside. What happened was I saw her purse and it was rather thin. She came in, she started going into the Nike pad, uh, the Adidas pad. >> Okay. And then I saw her kind of dodging me, whatever. And so I approached her and said, "Ma'am, would you I noticed you you were looking at our Adidas clothing. Would you kindly tell me where those items are so I can put them away?" And she's like, "Oh, uh, I have them here in my purse. Uh, I use that as the storage bin." We have plenty. I've heard that story a zillion times. She's still in the store shopping. She gave me the items back and I put them on the back of the register. But we want to trespass her and we want to we want her out. We're going to prosecute today. >> Did she go past the points of sale or anything or? >> Uh, no. No. But she she concealed in her purse and you know that's enough for us to trespass and and prosecute. >> Okay. >> Thank you so much, Officer Woods. >> All right. >> Well, >> I told her it wasn't a big deal so that she kind of stay here. >> Yeah, >> I got you. >> Store employees chime in. They watched her tuck away some Adidas clothing in her purse. And while she hadn't made it out the front doors yet, concealment alone is enough for prosecution and a trespass warning to boot. >> Oh, yeah. That's her right now. >> The officer confronts her directly. >> Hey, ma'am. >> Hi. >> All right. I'm Officer Wizard of Savannah Police Department. >> Huh? >> I understand you put some items in your purse. >> I wasn't trying to I have I have a gift card. I was just I didn't have a basket. >> Would you set your purse down for me? Yeah. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Yeah. But >> you can put your wallet in your purse. >> Okay. I was just trying. That's >> okay. >> I was I wasn't trying to do anything, sir. >> She insists she had a gift card, had cash, and swears she was going to pay multiple times. She begs for the chance, but the officer isn't budging. It looked intentional, and that's what matters here. >> If you would put your hands behind your back, please. >> Oh, officer. Please. I'm not. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Yes, ma'am. I understand. However, it sure looked like you were trying to >> Well, I wasn't trying to I can pay for it right now. >> Yes, ma'am. No. >> I didn't know. I didn't have >> You might should have got a basket, ma'am. >> Well, I didn't I have my right here. >> Please. Please. >> Where's your child at? >> Okay. Well, that's good. >> No, I wasn't trying to sell you. I have my phone right here. >> Okay, I'll set that card in you first. >> I'm sorry. >> I didn't I understand what they're saying. But I >> No, I'm serious. I have the money. I just got a big sporting good. >> You had a chance to pay for it. >> Yeah, that's what I was doing. >> I was still looking for a jacket. >> All right. >> Please, sir. Please. I have the money. >> Look, you think I feel like arresting you? >> You think that's what I want to do is just come over here. >> Just give me a chance. Please go pay for it all. I got money right now. Yeah, >> sir. Please. >> You're not tracking me. >> No. No. I'm serious. >> Go ahead and have a seat. >> All right. I'm going to get this phone from you right here. >> Well, I need to call my lawyer. >> Well, you can get a chance to do all that later. Have a seat. >> You got any knives or weapons? Anything on you? >> No, but sir, I got to turn my car. My car is on. >> Why is your car still running? >> Because I was here. No, I was looking for a jacket, >> sir. I didn't I was going to pay for >> Meanwhile, her car is still running outside. She claims she didn't notice. Officers retrieve her belongings and surprise, she's got $278 in cash and a $200 gift card. So, yeah, she could have paid, but instead she tried the purse route. >> Yep. All right. Where in your wallet is your ID? >> Oh, it's in it's in my phone. I apologize. >> Okay. >> Where's my gift card? >> All right. You got money in here. How much money do you have? >> A lot. That's what I'm saying. >> Okay. I'm going to take all this out and count it in front of you. Okay. >> All your money is out of there. >> I'm not wasn't trying to steal anything. >> Okay, >> sir. I wasn't trying to steal anything. >> Pay attention. You want to get a good count. >> Oh my god. Everybody's all folded up here. >> I wasn't trying to steal anything. I wasn't >> Well, I'm not the one accusing you. Okay. So, make a difference for me. >> Please. I I wasn't trying to steal anything. I have this money. I was >> Please, sir. >> Sir, that I was going to pay for it. >> Sir, I was going to pay for it. Please. >> Okay. >> Please let please let me pay for it. >> Okay. No, >> please. >> How much money do you think you got here? >> The officer tells her point blank. This isn't about whether she could afford it. It's about how she chose to go about it. She keeps begging, but by now it's clear she's going to be arrested. >> Just call my lawyer. >> Didn't get a chance to do all it. >> I didn't I didn't do anything. Can I let go like so? Where's your car? >> It's over there, please. >> What kind of car you got? >> The Nissan Road. >> Nissan Road. >> Yes, sir. >> Have your lawyer come lock your car? You really have a lawyer that's going to come lock your car for you? >> Well, you can explain to her tomorrow. She's charged with misdemeanor shoplifting for stealing $490 worth of goods just under Georgia's felony threshold. She's fingerprinted and released with a court date. Even if you have the money, concealing items makes it theft in the eyes of the law. Repeated offenses only make it harder to earn trust or leniency.
