Police administered multiple standardized field sobriety tests which McGuff failed. After the tests, officers determined there was probable cause for arrest. McGuff was taken into custody but later released to his wife's supervision around 9:31 p.m. Because McGuff refused a breathalyzer test, his driver's license was automatically suspended under Ohio law. However, his driving privileges were restored at a Dublin Mayor's Court hearing on May 13th. His attorney, Rick Pat, entered a not-uilty plea on his behalf. A pre-trial hearing has been scheduled, though McGuff waved his initial court appearance on May 23rd. McGuff, who has led the Buckeyes since 2013, has not publicly commented on the arrest. Ohio State Athletics has yet to issue a statement regarding his status. The case remains pending, and further updates are expected after the pre-trial hearing.
