On November 29th, 2025, a Brink's branch manager contacted authorities after reviewing security footage and noticing suspicious behavior from one of the employees. >> How's it going, sir? >> Good. >> So, what's going on? >> All right. I was We're both with Brink's. I'm with Brink's security. And last Friday, the 21st, we had a messenger who went on route, messenger is the one that drives the armored vehicles, right? He checked out his route and one of the bags, like midstream, he didn't finish his route. He only did three and then he came back, made an excuse that uh his kid was sick or something, so he had to come back. Well, we're missing a bag. So, uh Liz was here uh kind of supporting the branch here and watched him go to a rest stop. Well, we don't service a rest stop. Like truck stop. >> The one up on the interstate? Yeah. >> Do you know if they have cameras up there? >> I don't. Uh they might. I'll have to check. >> Okay. But, we have cameras in our truck. So, I can see him. He takes his backpack out and he takes a Brink's coal bag. The coal bag is a black bag that where they put their money and stuff in and they go in and out of the a business. Well, he takes his bag and he goes probably to the restroom. So, I want to pull I want to pull the hard drive from the truck and see actually where he goes. But, then we get him coming back cuz we have internal cameras also that we can see live. And he brings his coal bag back and he takes his backpack out. And then he starts stuffing stuff on top of um the bag trying to conceal it. Like he opens up his backpack. >> He stuffed stuff on top of the >> Inside of his backpack. >> Okay. >> So, he gets his You see him get his jacket and he opens up his backpack and stuffs his jacket on the top of it. So, that's where we believe um >> They took the money out of the delivery bag >> Yeah. Yeah. >> and put it into his backpack most likely. >> Yeah, cuz he left So, he left with five ATM bags. I counted them before he left. He did no ATMs. He stopped at the rest stop. You see him get off with the bag. He comes back on, takes his backpack out, shoves his stuff on top, and when >> at the rest stop. He takes a money bag and his backpack out of the truck. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> And then comes back and takes his backpack out of the money bag, puts his jacket on top of it, zips it shut, comes back to the branch. Nobody searches him. He leaves with his backpack. I counted on camera only four ATMs came back. He didn't do any ATMs. There should have been five ATMs. >> He only had 13 rounds. >> Yeah, 13 stops. >> So, just just So, for clarity, so he went to a place, the rest stop. Would that ever happen normally for a driver to go to a location that's not part of their route? >> He could have gone to the bathroom, but not with a with a cold bag. >> Yeah. Right. You never take the bag. I'm assuming that's part of like protocol. I don't know. >> they they have a route sequence that they have to adhere to. And when they deviate from that, they know the branch knows that they went off the route. >> Right. >> So, that wasn't even on the route. There was no stop at that truck stop or that rest stop. >> Is it even Is it in between any two stops or >> It's on his hours driving back to the branch. Cuz he's in Panama City Beach. >> So, I called them today and talked to him and said, "Hey, you know, did you have any problems with your route?" He goes, "No, no." I said, "Hey, I I I understand that you quit." He goes, "Yeah, I quit. Just not for me." So, after he left that day, uh when did he throw his uniform away? >> between when he brought his route back and didn't finish it on Friday and when they showed up to open the branch on Saturday, he threw his uniforms over the fence and texted the manager that he quit. And he hasn't been back since. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Is there any way for me to look at the video from inside the truck what you're describing to me? Can you show that to me? >> Well, that's why I'm here cuz I I was trying to get you guys to come to the hotel cuz we had everything laid out. And then Kenneth said, "Can you come here?" So, I got everything that you can look at. >> Do you need like a computer or a desk or something? We can go inside the precinct. I'll just go around. This I don't think they have a key swipe here for me to get in. So, I'll have to go open it from the other side. >> Can I wait here? >> Yeah, if you just wait here for a second, I should be able to go open it. >> What time did he leave work? >> He left at like 1:00. >> Okay, so it's been a while. >> Well, this this is the 21st. >> Last Last Friday, yeah. >> Oh, he thinks he's in >> Yeah. >> Well, when did you call him? >> Today, just before I came over. >> So, he's been he's been alerted now. >> He has a week, so he knows that it is >> Yeah, but he only knows that we know for like the last hour. >> Yeah. He said, "No, I turned in everything. I don't have anything." >> Do you want us to go right over to the house and make sure that he's the truck might be there? >> What's the address? >> What's his address? >> What kind of vehicle is it that he drives? >> a 2018 Chevy Silverado, red. >> Oh, he's married. >> Yeah. >> Well, that means he's more likely to be home and not in Columbia. >> I tried to call his wife, too. So, she didn't answer. So, I think that's what his wife drives. >> That makes sense. >> He We saw him leave in the pickup truck. Cuz I have four other shortages involving him that we just found out after this. So, I got to put those cases together. It's They're felony over $1,000. >> But this I mean, there's no That's no comparison to 100,000. >> Yeah, I wanted to get the 104 back. >> So, did he take an extra? >> Yes. So, the night vault who put all the stuff in his bucket put a piece that was not supposed to be on his route in his route. And instead of saying, "Hey, I'll put this bag in here there. I don't go here." >> Okay. So, it was an administrative error or >> an administrative error that he then turned into a theft. >> And it happens. >> Yeah. >> Not a lot. >> Here Here it is right here. >> And in his mind, he's probably thinking it's unaccounted for. >> Yeah, that's exactly what he thinks. That it's not in the scanner cuz it would normally be in the scanner. >> Right. >> And he'd say, "Hey, I got an extra bag." >> But you can see >> Yeah. >> 1 2 3 4 5 >> Oh, he actually pulled them out. >> Yeah, if you wanted to watch it. >> Okay. >> Okay. Yeah. Just >> So, that's why he thought he could pull a fast one. >> Yeah. That makes sense. >> Let me just show you this real quick. >> So, I have your your setup like the branch video that I took video and then this is the route. So, if you look at um this is like his checkout. This is everything that he scanned. So, the bag that he scanned from but it comes up another bag number. It's right here. >> That's not That's another bag. >> That is another bag? >> Yeah, it The bag is it ends in 887. >> That's right. I I told you that it would belong to another ATM. >> Yeah, that's not the right bag that's on my list. >> Okay. But well, anyway, that's everything that he scanned >> That he scanned into the truck at the start. >> except for the one bag in question. >> So, the bag in question wasn't scanned into the truck. >> Correct. The bag in question is not going to show on that summary on the checkout summary. So, the checkout summary is everything that he checked out of the building and then the check-in summary is everything that got checked into the building. >> Yes. >> So, because this was not in the system because of the admin error at night, it's not going to show there. But it'll show that there were 13 pieces on that checkout summary and then we included the pictures of him taking 14 bags. >> So, the key that this this is why he thought he could get away with it cuz it wasn't ever checked out. But on video, we saw there were five bags. >> what else is included in there is all the So, like >> The other stuff that's >> where the brains packed the money and the bag number was under, like the inventory it came from, all that stuff sitting there to show like the paper trail of how it ended up there. >> Hey, Sarge. Yeah, they said he's leaving the house. Do we want to stop him? I think we got the PC. 258263 >> Let's immediately get him out of here. >> Yes, I can read card for WN29, please. >> 10-4. 416, I'm sorry. >> David N. Anything in your shirt pockets? Go ahead and step out for me. That's what? >> I don't know what's going on. >> Find out in a minute. >> Car 45, return to 263. >> 10-4, are you stopping that guy or what? >> What's going on? >> 10-4, we have him stopped. He's 10-15. >> You got anything on you? >> I don't have anything on me. >> No knives, guns, nothing? >> Uh I don't. >> Where Where are you from? No necklace on? Two shirts? Don't mess with me. >> 263, you have 22 on me. >> 122 on 5. >> Just have a seat. >> What we need to do is So, the denominations of the money that was in the money bag was all 20s. So, he's got all 20s in his wallet. >> Okay. >> So, we're going to seize that money. >> Okay. >> Um so, we need to fill out this form saying >> I am >> that we're seizing whatever cash is in his wallet. We have to just make sure we count it again. >> 465 dollars >> Um and then we're going to do a cash count form also. Do you have one of those? >> I believe so. Okay. >> All right. >> 34, 35, 36, 37, 38. >> Yeah, so 38. Quantity would be 38. Make sure all the plates are legible cuz this is going to be >> Okay. >> And then two $100 bills, so two. And obviously total would be 200 for the 100s. And then 38 20s. >> All right. >> Mr. Miller, I'm Deputy Last of the Sheriff's Office. Since you're in handcuffs in the back of a car, I got to read you this before we can talk, okay? >> I got you. >> You have the right to remain silent. Do you understand that, sir? >> I do. Yes. >> Anything you say can be used against you in court. Do you understand that? >> Yes, sir. >> You have the right to talk to a lawyer for advice before we ask you any questions and to have him with you during questioning. If you can't afford a lawyer, one will be appointed to you before any questioning if you wish. If you decide to answer questions without a lawyer present, you will still have the right to stop at any time. You also have the right to stop answering any time until you talk to a lawyer. Do you understand all those rights I've explained to you? >> Yes, sir. >> So, the reason that we're talking to you right now, uh >> I already know that Mike Wong called me. Like, I didn't think they'd take my money in the first place. It is here all the time. >> Okay. Okay. Well, here's here's the thing I understand. All right, Brinks has been doing this for a really long time. They have a lot of systems in place, some of which were due to make this happen. However, there is a detailed record of everything. >> I worked there. I understand it and I didn't take the money. Their bags just flew out the back. It's very great. >> Okay. >> Because I quit, they're bitter about it. So. >> Okay. So, do you know the bag that they're talking about? >> I have no idea cuz I didn't take a bag so I don't need the details. So, I didn't take it. What's crazy. >> Okay. Well, so you did a number of things that are abnormal. All right. >> What? >> Because every again, everything they do, everything's on video, everything's tracked. All right. So, do you remember stopping at a rest stop on the way back from your route? >> Yeah, I had to go to the bathroom. >> You had to go to the bathroom, okay. Did What did you What did you end your route early that day? >> Cuz my door wasn't working. The doors were like stuck shut so I didn't I couldn't get in or out. >> Okay. Um so, you ended your route early cuz of the door. You say you stopped at the bathroom on the way. Do you normally take a money bag with you into the bathroom? >> I had my black uh Brinks bag with me. Yeah, because the doors were all screwed. I didn't want to get locked out with everything. So, I brought out the keys and everything with me in there. >> Okay. Um do you normally bring that backpack that you had in in the money bag with you? >> Yeah, I bring all my stuff with me. >> All right. Well, I mean, do you normally bring that bag to work? >> Oh, yeah. I bring it to work all the time. It's my personal stuff. >> Uh is it a >> It's a book bag. >> Yeah, is it Is that in policy? >> I don't know what the policy is. >> All right. Well, they said that my understanding is that the if you have a personal bag, it's supposed to be either clear or like a mesh bag so you can see in it. >> I I guess no one no one applies by that then. >> Okay. I don't know. That may be so. I'm just asking. All right. Um do they normally search bags like that that aren't clear or mesh bags? >> Kind of. Sometimes that's >> not They don't follow protocol there. They're very sloppy. There's money everywhere and everything. It's just doesn't surprise me. They just accused another guy of stealing money and they're doing it though. >> Okay. Okay. Well, I understand. Like I said, the way everything's tracked, it's very clear that you take all five bags out, the ATM bags, the blue ones. All right, you take five ATM bags, you load them on the truck. That's all on video. >> I know I brought them back. I know I brought all of them back when they were didn't work or didn't work. >> And on video, they have you checking back in four bags, not five. >> I think it's the fifth bag. >> All right. So, that means that that bag disappeared while it was with you. You're the only person >> way. I had everything scanned in. Whatever. This is like I guess I'll just take a lawyer cuz I didn't steal any bags, so >> Okay. He knows He knows his the jig's up. I thought I don't think he has much hope of of selling that. >> Okay. >> In the end, Brian was charged with first-degree felony grand theft of more than $100,000. He was later released on a $50,000 bond. If convicted, he could face decades in prison, substantial fines, and restitution.
