He put one arm around me. He put the other hand over my mouth and held my nose shut. And he drugged me from the living room into our bed. And he put me down on the bed. >> Control doesn't start with violence. It starts with taking options away. >> He just wants to continually scream and yell at me, throw everything in my face. >> Once someone decides your freedom is negotiable, everything else becomes a matter of time. These are the moments when cops save women from ab husbands. In this case, that loss of control turned into a long morning where one person decided fear was enough to keep someone trapped. >> Hello. >> Hi. >> Did you call? >> Yes. >> Okay. Sorry. What's going on? >> Um I can um my fiance woke me up about 5:00 this morning. Um he did some not very nice things, but that's okay. Um, and then about 20, 30 minutes later, he came back in the room and he pulled me out of bed and he made me sit on the couch and he sat across from me with two of his guns and he told me not to move. >> Um, I got up and I tried to go out the back door once and he stopped me. I ran to the kitchen once and I grabbed the knife off the counter. >> Mhm. >> This isn't an argument anymore. It's containment. >> He didn't point the gun at me, but he went like this and told me to drop the knife. So, I dropped the knife and then I went back and he I sat on the couch for probably been most of the morning and he didn't let me move. He had my phone and my car keys and my wallet and my credit cards hidden. >> Are you injured at all? >> No. >> Do you have any kind of marks on you at all? >> No. >> Okay. Do you have um an ID on it? >> I do. I can grab it for you. Do >> you mind if I come in? No, you can come. >> Was that that knife like ever used or anything like that this morning? >> Um nothing was from dinner last night. It was on the counter like >> well clean or no? >> Um I mean it might we have tacos and we probably use it to cut like lettuce or something. >> Okay. >> Yeah. I don't know. Sorry. >> That's fine. Um I have my partner coming and we're going to go over everything again. What's up with the safe on the floor in there? >> Um >> was that already there? He Yeah, he he brought that when we moved in. He said he was going to bolt it to the floor in the closet. >> The little one >> stuff in. Um but that's where he had my keys and my wallet. >> He put it in the safe. >> Mhm. >> Today >> sometime this morning before he woke me up. >> Locking someone's life in a safe isn't panic. It's planning. >> Okay. >> Yeah. I can't access it. He has the two keys to it and his thumb opens it, but mine doesn't. >> That's what my ask. Does he have any kind of um medical issues? Um >> um he takes a lot of medications >> for what? >> Um I know he has anxiety like I do. Um he takes different stuff than I do though. Um he has all kinds of weird stuff. His some doctor he goes to in Port Orange gave him like shots he gives himself and like hormone pills and stuff. I don't know what it all is. >> Okay. Is he diagnosed with any kind of like >> any kind of mental disorder like bipolar dis schizophrenia? Anything like that? >> Not that I'm aware of. >> Um depression or anything like that? >> Probably depression. He's himself a few times. He did that this morning before he left to >> He did do it. >> Yeah. >> How did he do that? Tell you or was it over phone? >> It just whenever we fight he's just like I might as well myself. I'm going to go blow my brains out. Like >> Okay. >> I think he just uses it as like a Threatening self isn't vulnerability here. It's leverage. >> Um, do you mind if I see the text messages that he's been sending? >> Oh, he's only sent me two so far since all this happened. >> Since this morning? >> Yeah. Well, because he had my phone all morning. He didn't give it back till like 10 minutes before I called you guys. I know it's from this morning. Please call me a moment. >> Getting your money from the pawn shop. >> Yeah, he took $400 out of my checking account last night to pay somebody for something. And then what this was like to pay you back, >> I guess. So he said he would pay me back. He said he was going to pull in one of his guns to pay me back. >> What did he take? What did he say he's taking money for? >> Um he bought a Ring camera system that fell off the back of a truck from somebody. >> Okay. >> The guy he bought that from is also the same guy that he said he's going to come take care of me this morning for her. Do you know you and you don't know who that is? >> No, I don't know his name. I've only ever seen his car. >> And he's been here before. >> He's been here a couple times. Yeah. He knows where we live. >> No. >> Just um sit tight for me. I'm going to walk him in just kind of give him an idea of like what you were telling me. He's working on that and I'll be right back. >> She's working on the statement. We'll walk inside this. Okay. Yeah, I think I did ask you. Did you said he did he ever th you with a gun? I think I asked you. >> Did he ever say like he was going to you or did he ever point it at you? >> He didn't point it directly at me. There was one time though and I put it in here when I asked him, "What are you going to do if I try to run out the door?" Like, "What are you going to do me?" And he's like, "If I have to >> If I have to is where denial dies." >> So, I don't know if that counts or not. >> I got you. Um, has you ever been violent in the past? >> Um, >> he's been not nice. Ever physical though? >> Um, >> like to this extent? >> Not to this extent. There was one time where he wouldn't let me leave the room we were in. >> How was I here? >> No, that was at the house he was living at before here. >> Okay. How long ago was that? >> 4 months ago, maybe. 3 months ago. Um, and >> you guys don't have like kids in you said you guys have kids. >> Um, the gun that's in there, is that the one that he was using to point at you or to hold you there? >> I have no idea. He's got like two really small ones. He's got like a mediumsiz one. He's got two really big ones. >> He has He always has the one small one like in like up a holster in his pants. Um, he had the big one by the couch definitely. And he had a decent the mediumsized one of them on the couch next to him. >> Okay. >> I don't know which one he had in his hand at the time. >> Um did you ever with the knife did you ever injure him at all? >> No, I didn't even get near him. Opposite side of the room cuz he had a gun. I obviously wasn't going to try to get close to him. >> And all this took place it started this morning, right? >> Yeah. >> Um >> between like 5:00 a.m. and >> anytime it was physical would have been this morning. >> Yeah. >> Not like right before I got here. >> No. Uh-uh. >> No. No. >> Okay. All right. Sit tight for me for one second. Okay. >> Do you have any injuries or anything like that? >> No. >> No. >> Um, at one point he calmed down a little. So, I went back in our bedroom to like put space between us. Um, and he came back in and he started asking me questions and like getting upset again. So, I got back up and I walked back out to the couch and he started coming or back out to the living room. He started coming out and I started to try to go towards the back door. He stopped me and wouldn't let me get out the back door. So, at that point, I just screamed really, really loud. I screamed help as loudly as I could cuz the sun was up by then. I was like, "Maybe somebody's walking by." Like, um, so I screamed help and that really made him mad. He put one arm around me and he put the other hand over my mouth and held my nose shut and he drugged me from the living room into our bed and he put me down on the bed. >> Covering her mouth wasn't about silence. It was about ownership. And he's like, "You willing scream." And I was like, "What happens if I scream? What happens if I run? Are you going to me?" He's like, "I'll do what I have to or if I need to or something like that." Um, and then I said, "Well, I'm going to get out of here somehow." I said, "And I'm going to call the police." And then like his whole demeanor changed. >> The second police are mentioned, the act collapses. >> He was like, "You don't need to do that." He's like, "You know, I was just messing around. Nobody's coming to take you." I'm like, that's not how you mess around with somebody like >> um so >> that was a little after the sun came up. >> Yeah, probably like I don't know. I don't know how long the sun had been off. >> Okay. >> It's all kind of blurry. Um and then he started saying, you know, you don't need to call the police. I'm sorry. He's like, I didn't mean it. He's like, here, I'll give you all your stuff back. He's like, just come out and be calm for an hour and I'll give you your stuff back after you calm down. So, I just sat on the couch and slowly but surely he like walked around the house and he like he gave me my car key back and then he like did other stuff for 20 minutes. Then he came back and he gave me my wallet back. Then he did stuff for 20 minutes. Then he came back and gave me like my credit cards back. Then he said he couldn't find my cell phone. He didn't remember where he put it. I was like, "Well, my Apple Watch will deem my cell phone." So, I didn't. And it was in his car. Like, I know he knew where it was. So, he got it out and he gave it to me. >> Returning her belongings piece by piece isn't kindness. It's control dragging its feet. >> And I said, "I would like you to leave now." I said, "I need some time in my home to feel safe and to calm down by myself with my animals." I'm like, "I'd like to have a cup of coffee this morning and not feel like I'm in danger in my own home." And he's like, "Okay, fine. I'll leave for an hour or so." And he got his stuff and he left. He took the Ring cameras with him when he left. >> Mhm. Where were they mounted? >> Um, they weren't mounted. They were just sitting. There was one sitting on the high picture on the far side of the living room pointed like at the living room and there was one on the the kitchen counter island pointed towards the living room also. >> You guys don't Do you have Wi-Fi here for those cameras to be used? >> We don't yet. No, our Wi-Fi is being sold tomorrow. >> Have you seen the cameras used since you've been here? >> Um, he says they've been used because he says he saw me the other night come out and let the dogs out and stuff and there's no way he would have known that if he hadn't seen it on the camera. Um, but yeah, I don't know if he can just access them with his phone since we don't have Wi-Fi. If he uses like the hotspot, I don't know how >> Yeah, cuz usually you need some source of internet for them to work for them to copy anything or be able to see anything. >> We've been doing everything off the hotspots on our phones, so we have those on at all times. >> Um, cuz that's how we've been watching TV and stuff. >> Okay. Um, >> but then he left and then I called you guys. >> Okay. Do you mind just stepping out for me? I'm just going to take some pictures of you real quick. Oh god. >> Never mind. It's just part of what we got to do. >> Yeah. >> Um, just look straight at Can you take your glasses off for me? >> Look that way. >> That way. And put your arm straight up. >> Let me see your hands. Just a minute. Sorry, I'm taking really bad. >> You don't call us when you're having a good day, right? >> Turn over one more time. >> I don't think you left any marks. >> He's not stupid. He knows better. >> All right. So, >> he knows better isn't reassurance. It's experience talking. >> You might ask some questions. Some of these are going to sound kind of weird, but >> Okay. >> Um, he's been in contact with him already. >> Okay. He told me he was going to call the cops and tell them I pulled the purple knife on him. >> The counter story shows up right on Q. Okay. Um, he's got injuries. >> He has injuries? >> Yeah. So, what did he have any injuries when he left here? >> He did not. No. >> Um, you said there was like a physical struggle whenever he came in. when it first got physical was >> whenever he >> when I screamed and he drugged me into the bedroom. >> That was when he had your or his hand over your mouth. >> My mouth and Yeah. >> Okay. Um were you ever trying to get out of that at all? >> Um I couldn't really fight. I was holding on to my dog for dear life. I mean I'm sure I was going like this but and I think once he put me down on the bed I tried to kick him but he grabbed my leg like really really forcefully. >> Where at? >> Um just like down around here. I don't know. around there. >> Yeah. I had marks all over my feet from surgery, so it's hard to tell. Um, >> and that was the only physical part. >> Yeah. Well, there was one point after he gave me my phone back where I said I was going to call the police and he went across me and tried to grab my phone from me and I tried to grab it back from him, but he got it out of my hand. >> Was he ever or you ever injured in that altercation at all? Like scratches? didn't hurt when he pulled it out of my hand, but it didn't leave a mark or anything. >> Okay. Do you know what hand he was holding the phone in by chance? I know everything >> from me. Um, I would guess his right hand cuz he's right-handed like me. >> Okay. >> He has injuries. >> He's got a mark on his head. >> And then he's got I think it was his left hand. >> Injuries that appear after the fact usually come with a story attached. What? That looks like cuts or >> Yeah, they're like scratches. He's got scratches on here on his arm. >> You can scrape my fingers. >> One across the top of his forehead. >> He left here and he hurt himself. >> Just raise your right hand. Do you swear in front of the statement you give it to me? Today is true to the best of your knowledge and ability. So up you God. >> Yeah, 100%. >> Just sign there. We'll be right back with you. Okay. Hey, real quick. What was he wearing when he left here? >> Oh, dear Lord. Um, I don't remember if he had pants or shorts on. He either had on jeans or shorts. >> Yeah. Shirt wise. >> Um, blue or gray, I think. >> Are there any holes in it or anything? >> No. Uhuh. >> No holes in it. >> Even when he left, there were no holes in it. >> Oh, well, he has he does have one shirt that had like tiny little mock holes all over it. I don't know if that's the model. What color is that? >> It's like a strip right >> kind of straightens a little bit >> sort of like very lightly and it has like it's a button up like a holo on the top. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> And that already had holes in it. >> Yeah, that's had holes in it since the first time I ever saw it. Like just like little pin holes or something. I have no idea what he did to it. >> Okay. >> Could be an old shirt. >> Yeah. >> All right. himself if I'm going to leave him. His life is over. He lost his family. He's just going to himself. He's like, "Here, I'll give you the gun. You I'm like >> that was today. >> Just stay away from me." Yeah. >> When guilt doesn't work, he reaches for desperation. >> What time was that roughly? >> 10:30, 11. >> Okay. So, that was well before he left. >> Oh, yeah. Well, before he left. Yeah. >> That was Was that before or after he was like kind of calmed down a little bit? It was while he was a little calm cuz it was while he was walking around getting my stuff back to give it to me. Okay. >> Cuz he kept saying he's like, "You have to forgive me for this." I'm like, "I don't forgive you for this." I'm like, "This is it. We're done." And so he got all emotional and started talking about himself and stuff. >> Do you ever text message or anything like that? >> No. >> Just said it verbally to you. >> Okay. Then he hung out here for a little while longer and then he left after that. After you made those statements. >> Oh, >> I say hung out. Well, yeah. He can take He like put his shoes on and he like gave the rest of my stuff back to me. Then he spent like 20 minutes before he left begging me not to call the cops >> and then he got in his car and he left and as soon as I saw him pull away, I came out and I made sure he was gone and then I called. >> Um, and you said as far as medication wise he's on anything? You said >> um I mean I have all his pills in the house. I've been chosen to. I just don't know what they Is he diagnosed with anything? Do you know? >> Um, not that I'm aware of. >> Can we take a look at this? >> Yeah. >> I'm going to grab this paper. Actually, no. That's fine. >> I haven't gotten any of that. >> Give me a brief rundown as far as what happened over there. >> So, we just moved into the house. She hasn't been taking her meds like sporadically on and off and then stopped taking but every other day it's it's the end of the world. I want my life back. This is a mistake. She's getting divorced on her husband. Every other day it's the end of the world. So this morning another breakdown freaking out. We start arguing. We go back. >> What was what was she freaking out over? >> I ruined you ruined my life. My life is over. I don't want this. >> What time was you? >> 5 hours. >> So, she was already late. >> She was on and off. She was just very light sleeping. >> Okay. What happened after that? >> We just started arguing back and forth. Came out to the kitchen. I was going to make some coffee. She goes out by grabbing the knife. We start going at it. Went. It's the same dumb time. >> She grabbed the knife. >> Same thing every night. Oh, the universal excuse for today's mess. >> And what did she do with the knife? >> She started fighting. Just that she was going to hit it with got into it. >> Did Who hit who first? >> I never I never hit her. >> Okay. Well, you said you were going at it. So, that's why I'm asking to try to like restrain like if anything restrain. >> Did she come at you with the knife? >> She came at me. >> Okay. Um, does she say anything to you? With the knife? as far as if she's going to or something with that. >> Yeah, she's with it. >> I don't want to get in trouble. >> Okay, >> I got her side of the story. I'm getting yours. I got I got to compare. >> So, what happened? >> Should we start? It's the same thing all the time. Every other night, it's the same thing. >> So, this morning, what happened? We're not worried about every other night. >> Same thing every other night. We got it this morning. And she started arguing. My life is over. You ruined my life. Everything's coming to an end. The world's coming to an end. Okay. We're driving to the kitchen. I go to make a cup of coffee. She falls behind. It's the same thing. My world's coming to an end. You remember my life. It's all your fault. I never should have left. I want my life back. >> What? Never should have left what? What did she >> She cheated on her ex-husband. >> Okay. Um, how long have you guys been together? >> Like 6 months. >> 6 months. >> Engaged? Yes, sir. Um, so she had the knife. What happened after that? >> Started up. When did she get you in the back? I think it was on the back of the room. Just grab it at me. I grabbed grab arms. >> Okay. How did the injuries happen? >> At what point during this lot of the kitchen and the animals were yelling and screaming and barking and [ __ ] But you can't like did she go in? She got upset. She's hysterically crying. She's saying it's all your fault. Grabs a knife. I told her I was like, "You're going to use that." >> Okay. And then anything with the guns at all? >> I grabbed the guns and I took her car. >> Where were the guns at? >> All throughout the house. >> Okay. Guns laying around isn't normal. It's chaos pretending to be casual. >> They're usually just laying around. >> What's going on with the one that's still there? >> I grabbed what I saw and I left. >> Okay. Um >> I don't know if there's one or two or three left. I don't know how many. I just grabbed >> How many guns do you have? >> Seven. Okay. >> Do you know how many you have with you? Three or four pistols or >> they're technically considered pistols, but they're rifles. >> Okay. >> Rifle pistol. >> Just a short. >> So, all this happened during was that after you got the knife away? >> It was all day. All day. It was like from 5 and then we'd stop and start it up again. And we stop. And it wasn't until like what, like 1:00, something like that. 12:30 or 1:00 before I left. >> Okay. When she had the knife, how was she holding it? These they're going to sound like silly questions, but we have to ask. >> Was she holding it like this? >> Like this? >> Or was she holding it like this? >> Like this? Was it like this? >> I don't rec. >> Oh, okay. Um, when she caught you in the head with it, how can you recall how you turned around, she came at me, I grabbed her by the arm, I missed out, and she don't know if it was I'm assuming it was a knife cuz it hurts. Was it just once or >> It kept happening? The only thing I was going to try to restrain it. >> Yeah. >> So, you're saying she cut you where? >> There. Where else? >> I don't know if your arm was a scratch or I don't know if it was >> What happened? Right here. >> Where? Which one? I don't know. Between everything going on. >> Are you on medication for anything? >> I was prescribed uh Verizon, but I don't take it. I just basically have a prescription in my house. Okay. What's that for? >> It's anxiety condition. >> Is that Xanax? >> Basically Xanax. >> Gotcha. Um I'm sure they probably already asked you with the injuries, but do you need any kind of medical attention? >> Oh, why? >> We have to ask. >> I know. >> What's that? >> I said I figure why. I don't know. >> Yeah, we ask. Even if you have no injuries, if somebody's claiming a physical altercation, we have to ask. >> So, liability thing. Plus, we want to make sure you're okay cuz there may be something we don't see. Um, any injuries anywhere else other than what we can see? >> I don't think so. >> Can you turn around for me? >> I think I'm okay. >> Anything under your shirt where it's torn up? >> No, I didn't notice anything. >> Just pull up your shirt for me. >> What are the spots from? >> Acne. I'm taking steroid. I think testosterone. >> Okay. Is that what kind of what these are from? >> It's I changed my dosage. >> I got a month. It's I go every 3 months to do my blood work. >> Can you pull your shirt on? Let me see the back. Go higher. You mind if I do it? >> All right. >> We have two very completely different statements. This is supposedly been going on since 5:00 this morning. Correct. >> Sometime early in the morning. Yes, sir. >> Okay. the knife. There's As far as the knife, there's nothing consistent with the knife here. Um, if you were to Have you seen your head? >> No. >> Okay. >> You have a scratch going across. You got a scratch on your arm. I believe on that one. If this was a knife, you would have at least somewhat deeper. It'd be straight like a paper cut. >> I don't know if a knife or her nails or what. >> Two stories. One of them is already cracking. >> They also have So, she put it in a sworn written statement that you said that um >> that you just wish you would you um are there any kind of thoughts of self or anything like that? >> No, not at all. >> Okay. She said that you had you said that you wish she would have uh killed you when she had the chance. >> This is [ __ ] >> Um that Go ahead. I'll let you >> officer. So anybody can make any kind of claim. >> So if it's in a sworn statement and it's not just any kind of claim right now, we don't >> Go ahead. I'll let you finish. You're asking me questions, but I'll let you finish. Go ahead. >> I'm sorry. >> Go ahead. I'm I'm here for you. You tell me. >> I don't mean to be rude. I'm just >> talking over the truth doesn't change it. It just speeds up the ending. >> Hey, if I if one of us come and get you, would we would we be willing to come and get his car? >> Yeah, I can do that. >> Okay. He's already been taken down there or he's on his way down there now. Okay. >> And then um I'm going to do a report on it. I'll probably have it done tonight. All right. Um this side it'll be the back. I know it's not comfortable. No, it's okay. >> Hey, I turned the air on. Do you want the window down or do you want the air just could I please have a drink? >> I can't give you anything. I >> May I please? I'm having a like >> because God forbid if you get sick or something off of something I gave you. >> What about if I got it from the house or there's a closed bottle of ginger ale in the house? >> I can It's closed. It's brand new. I won't get sick. I'll save it. The accused was charged with domestic battery, aggravated a with a weapon, false imprisonment, and resisting an officer without violence. Moving on to the next case where control doesn't come from strength, but from intimidation that slowly spirals out of control. What starts as another argument quickly reveals a pattern that's been building for years. And by the time deputies arrive, this was already past the point of ending cleanly. How you doing, ma'am? What's going on? Um, >> we're just having a disagreement. >> Okay. How many people are in the house? >> Just my husband and myself. >> Your husband is in there? >> Yes. >> Are there any weapons in there that I should have? >> Yes, I have my back. >> You can step out here, please. >> No, I don't need you. >> Excuse me. >> I don't need to. >> I'm asking you to please step out here. Okay. I'm conducting an investigation right now. >> Yeah. Call because we I was yelling on the >> Hold on a second. Am I being disrespectful to you? >> I know how the game plays, man. >> What game you talking about? I'm >> not going to get arrested for any [ __ ] because >> he's not confused. He's already rehearsing the defense. >> Who says you're going to get arrested if they don't right here? >> Okay. Then nothing happened. Can I see some ID from you? And can I see some ID from Go get it from? I ask you where it's at. Huh? >> Yes, I can get my I can get my >> Okay. What's going on? He's out of control. >> I need you to be specific. What kind of out of control? What has he done? >> Did he abuse it today? >> Did he physically hurt you today? >> Did he throw something at you today? >> Did he hit you? >> When the question gets specific, the truth suddenly gets complicated. you. >> I can't help you. >> You're not being honest. >> Yeah, exactly. But she got to call her. I I have to be close to the doorway. >> What the [ __ ] you going to do? >> But I need to know if we have a crime or not. Okay. >> Haven't done anything wrong. >> He wants to be further away >> so you can concentrate. There's plenty of people over there. Come on. She's been on the phone the whole time. She'll say things. >> Okay, >> Michelle, tell the tell the officer the truth. Michelle, >> Michelle, you have to tell her the truth this time. >> What do you know, ma'am? Just tell me what you know. >> Nothing exposes a pattern faster than someone who's tired of covering it. >> He's been physically abusive their whole entire marriage. He started uh when they were dating. >> I need to know what happened. I need to I need to know what happened today so I can >> um she he texts me with a text message saying, "Oh, she's, you know, stepping out. She's beening this guy for a year. I need you to know." And um I just I just ignored it. And then she called me and said, "Hey, I was in the shower. Um I'm assuming you've gotten the text messages from Ron. Um um I'm not sure, you know, I need to catch you up on things. I told him I want a divorce. I'm selling our boat. um you know there's some stuff we need to talk about. I said okay that's fine. And I could hear him you [ __ ] you. And then she was like stop. I heard then he called me back. He hung up. Then he called me back. Um and I could hear him screaming at her and I said Ron you need to calm down. And he's all youing tell me to calm down. And I was like okay. >> Was any is this on FaceTime? >> No he won't talk on FaceTime. This is all what I've heard in >> my house. you have access to look at these cameras on your phone. We're going to disconnect so she can see the camera footage and show me. Okay. >> Okay. No worries. Thank you so much. >> All right. You're welcome. >> So, today maybe >> Yeah. I I've got really bad My contacts are really like >> Look, if you don't mind me looking. >> No, you're fine. I like I said, I've hardly >> like What time did we receive the call? I'm trying to look at the video cameras. So, we got it at 3:59. Would you say that it was just prior to that? This is 338ish. I think >> you're going to hear because that camera will record everything in the house. So, you can hear him yelling at me even in >> Okay. The hearing isn't as important as what I'm seeing on a camera. If he hit you or or threw something at you to hit you, like an attempt to hit you, then we might have a violence. >> No, that happened living room and there was no cameras in the living room. >> Okay. So, something like that did happen. He threw something at you to hit you. >> My my phone So what? >> My phone. >> That so what is where denial turns into evidence. >> So he threw your phone at me. >> This phone at you? >> Yeah. >> I didn't want to It's not blowing it up. >> I don't want I don't want I just >> So what what would you like us what how can we help you? If we have a charge, it may not be up to you. It may be up to us, but we need to know from your from your mouth what happened and just summarize it here. >> Summarization is that um >> got into an argument because of the >> Yeah, we've been dealing with this for like the last 3 months, >> but kind of fast forwarded it. It exploded today >> again and again and again and again and again. >> So, what happened? What did he do? >> Um he just wants to continually scream and yell at me, throw everything in my face. Now he's calling my sister, my parents. I was literally I took a shower, sat on the couch, he was taking my phone from me, screaming and yelling, and he was saying that and I don't want to say this out loud because again, all these all the weapons in the house are mine. Um, he keeps saying he's going to go and hurt him and then he then that's when he started getting all the weapons out of the closet and all my stuff. >> He's getting the weapons out today, >> right now? >> For >> he doesn't want control. He wants fear. >> What? Um because he said that if anyone comes in the house, he's going to light them up. >> Okay. Well, that could be that could be interpreted not as a crime um because of the surrounding statements if he said I'm going to but the conditional part is not going to make any sort of crime. But I more importantly, did he say you did he say anything like that that was direct not conditional? You guys, >> what did he say? >> He said, "If you guys went in the house, that's why I was trying to stop him. If you listen to recordings, stop touching the weapons. Knock it off." And he kept saying, "If they come through this door, I'm going to light them up." >> The moment weapons enter the argument, it's already past the point of excuses. >> I've always tried to protect everyone in law enforcement. I'm a good girl. I've never done anything wrong. My >> So, stay out here for just a moment so I can get a partner so he can hear us. So we can hear it together. Okay. Just stay right here. All right. So tell tell him again about the phone in the arm. >> Yeah. So what happens? >> You know, he grabs my phone and he throws it at me. Um he's done it multiple times. He broke um m You go in my living room stuff. He's smashed and everything on the floor. You'll see holes in the walls. But again, um I don't know what else to tell you. I was just sitting on the couch and trying to make it go away. >> Okay. So he came over and grabbed your phone today >> multiple times. >> And then what did you say when he grabbed your phone? >> Just stop. Please don't break it. Please don't break it. >> Okay, >> that's all I have. >> And then once you said please don't break it, what did he do? >> Um he grabbed it and he uh multiple times and he's he's thrown it at me multiple times, too. >> When you say throw it at you, I I know it's a silly question, but how does he throw it at you? Like I was sitting on the couch with my legs closed, just quiet and he just throw his throw it at my arm and um then the next time he took it and he threw it at this arm. >> So did it hit your arm? >> Yeah. Okay. >> Repetition isn't an accident. It's a habit. >> Was that Can you point on your arm where it hit your arm? Um, well, this is a different one, but I'm sure this will be another up. Um, the other the other day, not today, a different day. >> From what, though? >> What happened? >> From him grabbing me. And I hurting. >> How did he grab you? Did he just walk up and grab your arms? Did he push you? Did he >> I was in the bathroom. We were getting ready to go to bed and um he was throwing a bed that night and um I remember him grabbing here and then he um hit me up in my chest with my medicine cabinet. I had a bruise here too at the same time. >> Okay. It got him throwing your phone at you. >> No, that's in the living room. You can hear everything he's saying about the guns about coming into the house. >> Oh, okay. >> You can you're going to hear everything he said, too. You can hear everything in the house from this camera. >> Okay. Okay. Let's try and pull that up. >> Like he was getting all the guns out and I was trying to tell him to stop. He's like kept saying he's gonna whoever comes in this house, me and you guys, he's going to light you up. And I'm like, you're not doing that. I'm a good girl. >> Okay. Is that why he got the guns out or what was the initial reason for getting him out? >> Yeah. >> Said she called 911 and so he said, "I'm going to get the guns in." >> Yeah. Anyone comes through the front door is going to light them up. Okay. >> I don't want to know where you want me to start. >> Do you want to fill out a statement of what happened today? >> All I do is I'm going to file for a divorce. I'm amicable. I just want to split things up and let it go. It means just like blessing living hell. >> She's trying to deescalate the consequences, not the reality. >> Okay. Okay. I just I just want to get out the safety. >> Yeah, >> that's it. I know. And yes, I've had a couple of drinks. I didn't. >> That's fine. >> We started texting. There was nothing to it. I never touched anyone else. I've never cheated. I've never done any of that. Yes, it was inappropriate. I get it. But I never did anything wrong. >> Okay, that's that even if it is inappropriate, it doesn't give anyone right to put their hands on you or hit you with stuff. So, what I'm asking is today's incident about him yelling, throwing the phone at you, stuff like that. Would you like to write that down on paper? >> How is that going to work? No. I I don't want to ruin his life. He's got to go to work and I just want him to be able to get out safely without repercussions. >> Okay. So, >> I don't understand how bad this is for me. >> So, >> it's not easy. >> I got you. I I don't understand. You're right. I've never been in your situation. But unfortunately, now that we're here, it's no longer in your hands. It's no longer in his hands. It's in my hands. >> This is where control leaves both of them and doesn't come back. >> And if I have enough to make an arrest, I'm making an arrest because it's domestic. He doesn't have a choice. You don't have a choice. Okay? So, all I'm really asking is, would you like to put it on paper? If you don't want to, you don't have to. I'm still going to make my decision based off what I heard today. >> Just stand right here. He They're watching him, so just stay right here. You'll be safe. Okay. Hope you're happy. This is what you wanted, right? He still thinks this is about winning the argument. Can I what? >> You know what? I didn't do anything to make you badly. >> What? I didn't do anything to >> What's the idea? If >> you're in custody, you have the right to remain violent. You understand these rights. >> And just like that, it isn't. >> Take a step back. Make sure. Hold on. Can we pull short? >> All right. Take a step back. >> Step back on your chest. Take a step back. There you go. Perfect. >> You have anything on you? Nope. >> Have a seat. >> You want me to hurry up? I'm hurrying up. >> Yeah, >> we're going to get you to jail as fast as possible. >> Face away from me. >> Sit back. Face away from me. >> I can't with my wrist away from your own touch, Mom. Just did we see the videos? >> There's no videos. She said there's no videos on him throwing the phone at her or nothing >> from the home surveillance. >> Yeah, that's what she said. There's none on that. What you can hear is about she's worried about him saying uh >> but I heard to kill us. >> You hear that on there? >> Yeah. I mean, I didn't listen all the way for that cuz I was worried about the domestic part. Yeah, >> I'm not ever. I mean, >> he was later charged with simple battery, criminal mischief, and had a $2,000 bond set. Moving on to the next case, where trying to stay one step ahead of consequences only makes the fall messier. This man says he's turning himself in, but he's still clinging to control in all the wrong places. And from the moment he steps out, it's clear this was never going to be clean. There he is. 10. >> Mr. Collier, step out of the car. There's a call here. Step out of the car. The phone's on top of the car. Phone's on top of the car for you back. CBS. You see CBS? >> The Navy CBS. >> Okay. >> I was just trying to go turn myself in, man. >> Yeah. I had to come here for my Why were you? >> Because I had I had I had to I had I had to go to you guys first. my mail. What happens next, man? Cuz I mean, can I get my my things back, please? >> Beads. >> What is that? >> Beats. >> Beats. >> Yeah. >> Already negotiating reality instead of facing it. >> As long as it's nothing, you get anything back. Current, babe. Go ahead and hang up and just come to the um come over to the car. >> Yeah, I'll take care of it. >> Hey, just come to the just come to the um come to the come to that. >> Huh? >> Go get go get Oreo. Just get up there. I got to go to the bun cuz I got to see a judge. So, hey, could you please could he get out my phone, sir? >> Oh, can I have it? >> No. No. >> No. >> But my phone, what my phone got to do? >> Searching. >> Yeah, we will be applying for a search warrant on them. >> For what? >> The phone matters more than the warrant. That tells you everything. >> Yeah. Enough of my phone. >> Yes, sir. >> Duncan Chicago. >> You got anything you're not supposed to >> Hey, could you call could you call my lawyer to tell me? got my phone. I ain't getting nothing on my phone. He ain't got nothing for me. >> I know. >> Call T-Mobile, too. >> Put transport belt on. >> Yeah. >> All right. We're going to put transport to get back. >> Not right in a second. You cannot. >> It'll be in a second, man. >> Hold on a one. Pull me over. >> Nobody's going to pull you over. Go ahead and do it, man. >> This is >> You can also pull through right here. >> They not even out here, man. >> You should be recording. >> We are recording. >> Okay, buddy. >> Why does he want to get involved? >> I talking about it. I get it. >> No, I know you're frustrated. I've been trying to get this where I just get my lawyer. I just >> I was trying to fix it. Usually means it's already broken beyond control. >> Okay. My lawyer got a warrant. >> Nobody wants to get arrested. Is it going to be is I'm going to be able to go to the go? >> Yeah. We'll fingerprint you and stuff and we'll take you over to the courthouse. >> Okay. Hey, so could you go see Dupage County Courthouse? Yes. >> Yes. Okay. >> You got that high enough in the front? >> Yeah. Hey, could you please Could you please could I please give her my phone? Please. Why not? It's part of the investigation. >> Your phone? >> How is my phone part of the investigation? >> I don't know. That's what we were advised to do. >> Huh? >> You got mine phone in there? >> Yeah, I got her the phone in my in my I got >> I have two phones. >> Is it in my car? >> My big one. >> It's not in your nether one. >> So, what we're going to do is we're going to uncuff you and we're going to put you in the front. Okay. >> Okay. So, can can I take I have her phone. >> Bring that armor. >> My phone. >> Bring the other armor up. >> Here's the thing. Both those phones are >> My phone in my car. >> Both those phones are with him. Okay. >> Because they're in my car. >> Two phones, two stories. And neither one helps him. >> So, if I like I didn't I thought that this place was like and I would have had to leave my phone. So if I didn't take my other phone in there with me, you would be taking my both my phones. >> One of those is mine. >> Well, they were both on him. So when he took them both out. So if those are yours, I will have the if one of those are yours, I will have the the case officer. >> Don't play contact >> and then he will get it back to you. Okay. >> Talking to her about something totally different. >> I don't know. >> Yeah. Tell me, huh? >> Yeah. >> No. Um, >> and tell her, >> you know what I'm saying? >> I want to make this as comfortable as possible for you. Turn your wrist that way. You need a chain cut. >> Yeah, I got one. >> Okay, I'm switching them out. Double up. >> What's that? >> 12 signal 4D. It wouldn't be fun riding with that stuff in the back, man. >> What stuff >> with the cuff with the hands? >> Oh, yeah. No, no, I know. I apprec I know that. We can give you the address and stuff. >> You know where Dupage County is? >> We'll be able to find out like what's >> Well, it's going to take us about an hour to get there. So, >> the accused was arrested on an outstanding warrant with the case involving electronic evidence currently under investigation. Moving on to the next case where a man tries to paint himself as the victim while everything around him tells a very different story. What starts as blame and denial quickly runs into reality and from that point on this was never going to end cleanly. >> Talking about man is >> she wouldn't take care of my up man. >> What happened? >> She do what the she want. She going to tear my up. >> What happened man? >> You know What's been going on tonight? >> We can go down the house to her house and just be happy, but she want to stay out here and argue with me. >> Okay. What happened? >> Break it down. >> Rip my Bible apart, man. >> Okay. >> That's crazy. >> How did that stop? >> I just asked her to go home. She only live. >> Okay. >> She don't want to go home. She >> when the story leans this hard on blame, it's already cracking. >> Stay on here and argue with me. >> So you asked her to go home. >> Is that why she got mad? >> I don't know why she got mad. I don't know why she got mad. >> Okay. Okay. So y'all arguing right back and forth. >> Is that what's going on? >> And then what happened? >> And then what happened? She tried to throw everything at my TV to break it. >> Okay. >> Rip my Bible up. Okay. Did you try to stop her from breaking? >> Oh, yeah. >> Yeah. How'd you do that? >> How you How you stop? >> I just held her back. Start in front of my TV. >> How'd you hold her back? Can you show me? >> Huh? >> How'd you hold her back? Can you show me? >> I hold her back. I wasn't trying to hold her back when she was trying to throw that and throw that straight and throw everything at my TV. >> Yeah. So, you tried to You tried to stop her from uh throwing your stuff. How'd you stop her? >> Just stood in front of her. You just stood in front of her. >> Did you enter it at all? >> No. >> No, you mean I thought we cool. You just tell me if you did or not. I know you sometimes, you know, people get mad and upset and stuff. They don't even realize what they did. Do you believe that you could >> I ain't trying to hurt her. I just >> I told her just go home. times what it is is sometimes you don't even know >> your arms are flailing everywhere and stuff and you could have accidentally hit her and you know stuff like that. She accidentally had you had to do is just go down her house, man. >> Did your arm like Was you talking? >> Come on, man. Come on, man. You're not trying to get me to incriminate myself. >> The moment don't incriminate me shows up, innocence quietly leaves the room. >> I'm telling you what happened. She All she has to do is just go home. Okay. >> You But I'm What I'm saying is you tried to tell me that you tried to stop it, right? >> Every every time she tried to do something. >> Yeah. >> I don't want to step on your stuff. Got a charger over there. >> It wouldn't even be It wouldn't even be like this if it wasn't for her tearing it up. Look at my Bible, man. >> Yeah. >> Look at my Bible, man. >> I see that. >> Did she hit you at all? Yeah, she mean I I ain't trying to go in there. I'm not I just I just wanted to go home and get whatever she need to get. >> I just got to ask, man. I just got to ask. >> Not doing my job if I don't ask. >> How long you guys been together? >> I've been seeing her I've been seeing her for like 3 years. about 3 years. Do she do she stay here the night sometimes? >> She has. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. No problem. >> This her? >> Yeah. >> All right. Look at the ashtray. >> Yeah, because she tried to throw it at my TV. >> Oh, no. >> Is that her? >> Mine is Yeah. No, mine. It's mine. Yeah. >> He was She was said that all all the things that was ripped up was from earlier today was your altercation with somebody else. >> No, it ain't no altercation with nobody else in my house. >> Said some guy in the hospital earlier today. >> That that had nothing to do with this. >> Well, she saying that's why we came from. >> No, that had nothing to do with this. Hey, hey, hey, hey. They're talking to her just like we talked to you. We're not you're not going to communicate to her whatever she's accusing you of. I want to press charges of her ripping my too. >> Wanting charges doesn't make you the victim. It just shows where the ego's hiding. >> I want her coming in my house my >> Well, you invited her in the house first off. >> That gave her the right to do what she >> Let me finish. First off, you invite her in the house. All right. But I have to find proof that she actually did this. She said this was already like this. Just like I have to find proof of of um her alleging that you you >> nothing to her. >> Okay, I get that. >> So why won't she leave when you told her to leave? >> I don't know why she wouldn't leave. She just wouldn't leave. >> What was she upset about that caused her to do any of this? >> You got to help me out. >> I know. She thinks she thinks I help more people out than I help her. Hey sir, you got a shirt? >> You got a shirt on? >> You got a shirt? You guys come with us, >> huh? >> You got to come with us. All right. >> This is where the narrative collapses and reality takes over. >> We got probable cause. >> Come on, man. >> Come on, man. >> For real, man. And this girl do all these bad. >> She has an injury to her lip, >> you know. >> She says you >> Well, I want I want to press charges against her part, too. >> Tell your part. We're going to get >> No, I want her to go, too. >> We'll get >> Well, they're two separate charges. She'll be charged for that too separately. You don't want to tell us. >> You're going to have to go with no shirt. Oh, man. >> Can I lock my house up? We're >> trying, but I'm trying to get you a shirt >> cuz that door got to be locked and I got to go out the back. >> One thing at a time. Do you have a shirt? >> Thank you very much. >> Come on, dude. Whatever you got to do, man. >> Do you have a shirt? I got my Come on, man. Come on, man. >> Do you just want this hoodie >> or jacket? You don't got any, right? >> Come on, man. I ain't got no >> I got to ask, man. >> You want the change to go with you? >> I'm going throw this over you. Okay, you can put it on better than the station. Crazy. >> Does she want photos? >> Paris, does she want photos? to do this. >> Come on, man. We got no domestic. What the is this, dude? >> All right. >> Even now, he's arguing the situation instead of facing it. Too late for that. >> Um, >> anything else? >> What is hers? >> Ain't nothing hers in this house. over everything. >> All right. Nothing else is hurt. >> No. >> Where are your keys? So we can lock up right there. >> All right. We're going to lock up the house for you. All right. >> I'm going to lock this door by a top lock and we have to go out the back. >> Yes. >> All right. Is there anything else you need to get your phone in your wall? >> Well, I don't know. >> Yeah, we're going to come out that door. Plus, we want to go out the back. >> Do you usually go out this door? >> I know. That door has got to be locked and you got to go out the lock outside though. >> No, the back door. Okay, that's fine. >> And she ain't got nothing in here. >> This this door. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. >> No. No. No. >> She's not coming in here. >> She ain't coming in here. >> What is hers? >> I don't know.
