But when officers went to the victim's home, neighbors told them what really happened. Later, the victim shared her side, too. And that's when the full story came out. So when I came to it, it's them right there in K9. Okay. I when I came here cuz somebody called us that they were he was beating on her. I'm sure she got her hits in too. Okay. But when I got here it was a screaming match. >> I'm tired of this [ __ ] >> Hey, Miss Hodgej. >> Um this morning I woke up and >> this is your son? >> Yes, it's my son. >> And my boyfriend couldn't find his phone. I guess it's like a phone >> that has like his ID and stuff in the back of it. I didn't have the phone. He just kept telling me that I knew where the phone was and I didn't know where the phone was and I kept telling him that and he just finished me and I'm tired of it. >> Okay. Um, how long have you guys been together? >> Too long. >> No, I just >> 7 months. Do you guys live together? >> We don't live together like he does isn't on the lease. He stays >> He stays at your house with you. Okay. Any kids or anything like that? >> No. >> No. Okay. But he put his hands on you. What do you mean by that? >> Oh, my face is >> I got bruised and he took my phone and I came out here and was trying to get hold my phone and we stuck him right there. I did >> like he just won't stop. >> Do you need any medic? >> No. >> Okay. So, just so I can understand what happened here today. Okay. I'm just going to recap what you told me. He got mad. He thought that you had his phone. >> Yes. >> He destroyed my bedroom. >> He thought that you had his phone. And that made him upset and then he shriked you cuz I can see swelling right here on under your eyes. So did he punch you in the eye? How did he do it? >> Um yes, he punched me. >> He punched you. Okay. Um what else happened? Can you tell me like can you cuz obviously I wasn't here. So can you just tell me what happened so I I can >> That happened in the bedroom. I proceeded to come out into the living room. >> He followed me into the living room like just snatched me around. You can see all this is he was just snatching me like down in the hallway. And I told him he was hurting my neck. And I had him by his hair cuz he had like wigs. And he just kept telling me, "Let his hair go." And I finally let his hair go. And I opened my front door. And he kept closing it. And I told him, "No, I want my front door open. Like I don't feel safe being closed in here with you." And he just kept closing my door. So I came out here and said, "Ty." >> So she was sipping through your phone and she didn't like what she saw. No, we was sleeping and she passed my phone and she like, "Oh my god, bro." >> Well, like maybe you talking to another girl or something. >> You know how like they get so mad when you really ignoring them? Like you're not trying to say nothing. They get more mad and angry. Oh yeah. >> So she trying to hold me like man where you like trying to stop me like where you going? Just talk to me real quick. I'm like man I can't do all that. >> Where's uh where's home at? What's your home address? >> Oh Park. So, where were you planning on walking to? Who was Who's that car you were about you jumped into when I was >> I just I just seen him at the store. Yeah, I see him. I've been knowing him since I was like He a little older than me, but I >> You just asked for a ride. >> Yeah. Like, bro, he was going He know kind of know my people and stuff. >> Well, were you were you guys arguing inside the apartment or outside the apartment? >> No, we was arguing inside, but when I was like on the way walking out, I was still like saying words. So, it got like louder like, "Oh my god." That's what really made me leave. It's more people standing around. I'm like, man, I got to go. >> Well, that's going to get us cold, man. I mean, if you guys, you know, it's your business should stay behind your guys' doors. You know what I'm saying? >> Yeah. >> So, should there be trembles out there? >> Terrible. >> You understand? >> Yeah. That's what the other guys are looking at right now. >> All right. Do me a favor, man. I'm going have you put your hands behind your back. Okay. Well, my officer on scene is saying that she's got injuries and they're also advising that you guys have a domestic relationship as well, too. >> I ain't even do [ __ ] They they talking about if they seen the cameras like I >> Yeah, we're going to pull everything. We're going to pull cameras and everything like that. So, domestic battery. >> So, the information I've got, man, I got an independent witness, meaning somebody not affiliated with you guys saying that you were hitting her. >> I was hitting her. >> Correct. So, I got that. And then she's also got marks on her, too, man. So, you told me that she was tugging on you though. So, how'd she get the marks? >> So, I'll go on down there, too, and I'll check video for uh video surveillance and stuff. And that's >> and I was out here sitting when he came out here and he snatched my phone from me and then we tussled right here. We were on the ground and I finally got my phone back and that's why I told him that I went down there and sat in one of my neighbor's chairs and was sitting down there and then he finally left cuz I guess my landlord was standing out there. >> Do you want to write a statement for me of what happened today? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> They live together. >> They do live together. >> He's claiming he only comes and goes. >> Uh he's got clothes in the in the room. She >> How long has he been staying with her for? >> Um she said they uh they've been together and he's been living here about 7 months. Okay. Uh, she got marked. Where did the where the physical altercation take place? Inside or outside? >> Inside. >> Okay. Nothing outside. >> Um, I think he drug her a little bit outside. She was sitting on the bench where she's at right now. >> Okay. >> She's got a couple small abrasions on her foot, her elbow, her finger, a mark on her cheek. >> Any independent witnesses to this? >> That's her son, but he doesn't want to write a witness statement. >> Did he give a verbal at least? >> He gave me a verbal and he swore to it on the camera. >> What did he say? Um he said that um the male half thought that the his mom had his phone. >> Mhm. >> Uh he like trashed the bedroom looking for it, came out, grabbed a hold of her, threw her down, took his right hand, punched her in the cheek with a with a closed fist and then he went looking for the female half's phone and then the lady called which I don't know where she went. They were outside yelling and screaming. She said she was going to call the cops and then they separated at that time. >> Okay. Okay. So, nothing physical took place outside the apartment? >> Not that he said. >> Okay. All right. Did you check the bedroom? Is it consistent with him the bedroom be disheveled and the mess? Okay. Did you get photographs yet? >> Uh, not yet. She wants to do a witness statement so I can come and grab one of those. >> Okay. >> And I'll get photos of her in the bedroom. >> All right. I'll go talk to management and see if we can try to pull video surveillance and see if anything got captured outside. >> Cooper was arrested and charged with simple battery and domestic violence.
