On November 28th, 2025, Flagler County deputies in Palm Coast stopped 27-year-old Kaylee Poe after she drove the wrong way and failed to yield. >> Hello, I'm Deputy Mediano with Flagler County Sheriff's Office, okay? The reason for the stop today is not only did I watch you drive the wrong direction on Palm Coast Parkway. You went eastbound in a westbound lane. Okay, so one-way lane. You went eastbound in that lane, okay? You pulled out of the apartment complex, which I watched you turn around in. You pulled back out. You came back out. You failed to yield to oncoming traffic. One, two, you also did not stop prior to entering a public roadway from a private roadway. Does that make sense? Is there any Can you roll this down, please? I know it's just your child. What Just roll that down for me. Okay. >> Um I'm not from here. >> Okay, well there's big red signs that say do not enter. Or wrong way. Or there's one-way signs. They're all over, okay? With that being said, you committed multiple traffic infractions. When I initiated my traffic stop, you stopped in the very middle of the of the intersection. Do you understand that? Do you understand how dangerous that was for not only your passenger, but the child in the backseat of the vehicle for stopping in the direct intersection prior to me even initiating my traffic stop. Does that make sense? >> Before I even initiated my traffic stop, before I could turn my lights on, before I could turn my lights on, you were in the middle of the intersection. You had stopped in the middle of the intersection. You ran the red light and continued to sit in the middle of the intersection. >> Okay. With that being said, step out of the vehicle for me. Yep, you can take your seatbelt off. >> So, why am I stepping out of the vehicle? >> You stepping out of the vehicle for our safety, for your safety, because I believe at this point you might be intoxicated. You are not listening to any of my instructions. You ran past the You ran past the red light. You didn't stop. You continued forward, and you cannot answer simple instructions. So, I need you to step out of the vehicle. >> Okay, sit back here for me. Is your driver's license in the car? Okay, is there a registration or anything to the vehicle? >> Uh >> Yep, that's fine. >> Yeah, but >> Where's your driver's license at? >> My driver's license is in my purse. >> Can she get it for me? >> Uh Yeah, she can get it. >> Okay. Ma'am, can you do me a favor, can you Can you give me her driver's license? She said it was in her purse. Yeah. Oh, baby. >> I know, sorry. I know Sharda is doing me a favor to take me to his dad cuz it >> I hadn't even lit you up with my lights and you were You run the red light and you were sitting in the middle of the intersection. >> are you talking about? This one >> This one right here. >> This one? >> You ran the red light and you were sitting in the middle of the intersection. >> You had your lights on. >> That was before I even had my lights on. Okay, have you had anything to drink tonight? >> No, I took a bath. >> You have >> I took a bath last night at 10:00 p.m. >> Okay, cuz the your mannerisms, you having a hard time standing, you're driving the wrong way on the road, a lot of a lot of cues are pointing to you being possibly intoxicated or under the influence of something. Does that make sense? >> Um I'm just >> Okay. Here, I'm going to take this real quick. All right, hang tight here for me, okay? Hey. Can you check uh she's saying she hasn't had anything to drink. I can't do that. You have to she has to 10-15 at the jail. I can't do my evaluation. >> All right, I'm going to I'm going to toss this car. >> Because she showed signs of slurred speech and trouble balancing, the officer started sobriety tests to check if she was under the influence. >> All right. So, you've never been told you have a TBI? Okay. All right. Have you ever been told by an eye doctor or an optometrist that you have what's called resting nystagmus? No? All right. Do me a favor. Stand with your feet together like this. Perfect. Nope, together like this. All right. Take your hands out of your pocket, put them down by your side, all right? Do you see my pretty blue light? >> Yes. >> All right. I'm going to move this around, follow it with your eyes and your eyes only. Don't move your head, okay? Do you understand so far? >> Yes. >> All right. All right, let's go up, okay? One more time. Okay, stay right there. All right, this light is going to go around in a series of circles, okay? Well, that's not what that is. >> It's a gigantic sign. >> We're going to go across the street, okay? >> All right. Let's go across the road. All right. Just come down here for me, okay? >> Okay. >> All right. >> The other one? >> Yeah. >> You're going to place your right foot on the line ahead of your left foot with your with the heel of your right foot against the toe of your left foot. Do you understand these instructions so far? Do you have any questions about these instructions so far? Okay. When I tell you to start, take nine heel-to-toe steps in the line on the line. >> All right. So, we're going to be in the starting position like this, okay? I'm holding the light. Your arms will be down by your side. Put your arms down, okay? All right. You're going to take nine heel-to-toe steps down this yellow line counting out loud looking down at your feet keeping your arms down by your side, okay? It's going to be one two three four five and so forth until you get to your ninth step. Once you get to your ninth step, leave your lead foot planted on the ground, take a series of small steps to turn around, and then nine heel-to-toe steps back down the yellow line, okay? 1 2 3 4 5 and so forth until you get to nine. Once you start the exercise, do not stop, look down at your feet, keep your arms down by your side, and count your steps out loud. Does that make sense? >> Yeah. >> Do you have any questions? >> Uh no. >> All right. Whenever you're ready to begin, you may begin. >> I count? >> Yes, ma'am. With that being said, we're going >> We're going to annotate whatever. >> Yeah, I I have my um >> Ask him about it. Ooh. >> I'll review it. I'll go over it with him, but >> You got to learn a shorthand. That's what getting at. I don't care. I'd rather come off. >> All righty. We're going to do that same position again, okay, with your feet together and hands at your side, all right? Can you take your hands out of your pockets, please? I know it's cold. I'm sorry. Feet together, hands at your side, like so, like that for a moment, if you would, okay? Do not start Do not start until I tell you to do so. Do you understand the instructions so far? >> Yes, ma'am. Okay. >> When I tell you to start, raise either leg either leg with the foot approximately 6 in off the ground, keeping your foot parallel to the ground, okay? You can use either leg, right or left. >> Either leg. >> So, like here, for example. >> Yeah, so when she tells you to do so, you're going to raise either leg of your choice. You're going to have your foot parallel to the ground, approximately 6 in. Okay? You're going to look down at your raised foot, like that. Look down at your raised foot and count out loud in this manner: 1,001, 1,002, 1,003, 1,004, 1,005, and so forth, until we tell you to stop. So, you're going to keep counting until we tell you to stop. You're going to look down at your raised foot with it 6 in off the ground, arms down by your side, and keeping them both legs straight, and keep counting until I tell you to stop. All right? Does that make sense? Okay. Which foot are you going to raise? >> My right. >> Your right foot? Just hold it for a second. >> Following her arrest, a breath test showed no alcohol in her system, but she refused a subsequent urine sample when deputies suspected drug impairment.
