Like what's mine >> What you got? Something else on you? >> No, sir. >> What? Don't Listen, don't stop moving, man. >> I'm just showing >> What else you got on you? >> No, that's it. I'm just telling you like >> So, are you telling me what You can show me what you got on you there? >> That's what of like of my property, sir. That's what I'm saying. Of me. That's all I got on me. I don't have nothing else. >> All right, my man. Listen, do me a favor. >> I'm around the corner. >> All right, that's fine. Stand on the car for me. Just drop the money in the seat. >> A lot of money. Smell of marijuana. >> Just put your hands on the car. Just relax for me. >> Those leather shorts? >> Going to be hot. >> Hey, man, do you have any firearms on you? >> I don't have none. >> Yeah, no firearm. >> Those leather chinos? >> Hey, say something in your person. Drop your hands. >> No, I was I was just telling you you could check cuz you said give what you could say in the first my girl car. This is not my car. >> All right, stand to the rear of the vehicle. >> Okay. >> He's trying to say he can't give consent cuz it's not his car. He knows he can give consent. He just doesn't want anybody going in that car. >> Big four. >> All right. If this is the only thing you got in the car, all right, listen listen stop stop stop. If I search the vehicle and it's Stop. You can't First of all, this this is not legal. All right. I don't want it. >> All right, sir. As far as consent to search goes, because you are the driver of the vehicle >> Mhm. >> you don't have to have someone else's consent to search. You're the one who's driving the vehicle. >> Correct. >> In this case, it's your your vehicle. >> It's not my girl's vehicle. I'm >> But you're the one who's driving this vehicle. You can't like You can't have her car because she's she's not the one driving. She's not the one here. >> He's not going to give it. >> You say what? >> I can't call my girl This >> That's my >> This is her car. >> Just do me a favor. Just turn around. Right now, you're not under arrest. Right now, you're just being >> Okay, you guys recording? >> Yes, we are recording. >> Oh, snap. Oh, seriously, bro? Come on. I told you to have that, bro. I know you don't even want it, bro. >> Hey, you man man just You know, just stand back around. Come on. come on, man. >> Just detaining him, it looks like. Ooh, what is that? >> Listen, I can get it, but right now where do we go from here? >> Right? So, again, the quicker that you kind of cooperate with what we're trying to do, the quicker you're getting out of >> my vehicle. >> You're the one who's driving this vehicle. >> But, it's not my vehicle. >> the reg- Hey, put him in the car. Hey. Put him in the car. >> on the vehicle. >> Just come here for a sec. Would you mind going to the back of my car for a bit? >> Yeah. >> All right, I'll see you see you for a bit. >> Can I get my girlfriend to come pick up my car? Because what's going on? >> Listen, like I said, you're not under arrest, you're attorney just >> Come on, y'all can't be serious. Can you call her at least? >> Do you have anything on you? >> Oh, sir, I don't have anything on me. I don't have no firearm on me, anything. >> Anything in additional? >> It's my That's in my garage. >> Next up. Anything taken in additional? >> Whoops. >> Listen, listen, again Yeah, man, I'm I'm again I'm driving a So, depending on what the officer was able to see in plain view when he was speaking with the guy would determine whether he can search the compartment or not. We don't know cuz he hasn't told us, but probably why he can get in the car right now. >> I'll show you I'll show you 908 with my car. I'll show you the >> And before you before you Can you call my girlfriend and let her know this is going on, please? >> Why do we need to call her? >> This is how I call her. >> Listen, you know why we don't call anyone else? >> Yes, sir. >> Because we don't need another person here that can cause >> No, I don't know. >> We don't need to involve more people. >> only figure out what's going on. >> She's not coming here, but long as long as she knows where her information about her vehicle like it's going to I know positives of going to jail. You're not going to be in contact with nobody in >> Have you gone to jail before? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> My tag light >> Listen, like I said, right now you're not under arrest. We're just going to have you detained. Right now, there's no reason to contact anyone else. >> I'm just If If in any case, and let's say if you get arrested, then we will contact her to come by and pick up >> Okay. >> But right now, we're just going to figure this out. But right now, there's nothing to say that you're being arrested. We're just going to detain you, okay? >> But he knows he is. >> Just get him. Ooh. Oh, do you want to go to the trunk real quick? >> I understand that, but you in the car. If it's not your car, then then I don't know what you're worried about. >> All right. >> What's not yours? >> I'm not the car. >> She doesn't matter, cuz you don't want to drive in the car. >> Yeah, but it's not my vehicle. I cannot give you the >> Listen, my man, that's that's All right, listen. >> He understands. He's just not going to say yes. >> I have the controller. I promise you, even if she said over the phone, yes, you can. I don't mind. >> All right, later. Wait. All right, you can lock it. Uh no, don't don't search anything just yet. >> How old is he? >> This kid is like 19, 18. He was born in uh 03. So 03, that would make him I guess 22, 23. >> How old is he? >> This is his girlfriend's car. And also, when I stopped him, he had all the >> Big serge here to spitball. >> like 301. He said, "Oh, I just came from a a casino or whatever." >> So, what do you have? He doesn't have a license, right? You knowingly don't have a license. >> cuz I had him I had him run it. >> When they came back to me, like >> Did you look him up in David and see if his license is valid. Cuz he had >> How did you run the car first? >> I ran him on Bravo. He came back 3429 20 bucks. >> We we we just paused everything. I gathered what I had. >> I like that. >> Slow down, figure out what you got, and see what what Is he under arrest right now? >> Right now he's Right now he's just detained. >> Huh? >> Right now he's just detained. >> Why? No, he's going to be under arrest. I didn't advise you. >> I didn't say he is detained. >> Is he under arrest right now? >> Right now he's detained for further investigation. >> Okay, what's your investigation? What are you investigating? >> Narcotics. >> All right, so you need to investigate the narcotics. >> Yes. >> Is weed legal? >> Weed is a is over 20 grams is a felony amount. Weed is not legal. >> Okay, over 20 grams is is a You know for sure he has a felony amount in the bag. >> Yes, sir. >> Yeah, but how much did you You saw it in the in his lap? It was in plain view, so you saw it and you smelled it. >> Yes, the small bag. >> So that's the reason for you to search the car, right? >> Yes. >> All right, slow it down. >> So Big Sarge is on the scene doing a great job. When he arrives, everything comes under his umbrella. He's now responsible. So he just wants all the facts. Do we have, you know, the ability to get in the car? What are the charges? What do you have so far? He needs to be briefed on everything, and it looks like these cops maybe are a little bit younger. They're eager. They're doing a good job, and he's just telling them to slow it down. You're good. Cross all your tees, dot all your eyes. >> That's the reason for you to It's a good arrest. A real good arrest. But you got to slow it down. Don't give up now. You got it. So now you're getting in the car legally, right? All right. Now you're legally searching the car, and then you find a a gun. Now you need to run the gun. >> Yes. >> All right. Can you take care of the gun for him? All right. Can you take care of the license? >> Yes. >> All right, go search him in David, see if he has a valid license. >> That's a good stop. You got it. You got it. It's a good stop. Even though I'm seeing him riding in front of me it's highly likely you still got to give him a ticket, I want to >> Let's run the gun under the car. >> Gold Russian assault rifle. >> Now you got to start thinking to yourself Do you have Do you have BC to wrestle for the drugs? >> We have BC to wrestle for the drugs for sure. >> Hey, put your window down. All right, so here's what's going to happen. We're going to go back to the PD when they get you processed. When they get you processed. Now I can't do it now cuz obviously your car's your your phone's in her possession. So once you get to the PD they'll get you your phone and then you they'll get their number and they'll call me and I'll call her. >> Bro, bro, I just see y'all pulling out stuff in that vehicle. That has nothing to do with me. That's not my vehicle. >> What? >> Y'all call her and >> We're going to get in contact with her. I promise you that cuz it's not your It's not your car. It's her car. So we're going to get in contact with her. >> y'all contact her now and let her know what's going on? >> We're going to I can't do it now. Bro, it doesn't work that way. All right. All right, yeah, it has to be towed. We can't leave it in the middle of the roadway. No, I can't just have her come and pick it up, bro. >> It won't like that. >> You're good. >> And the state is so busy since it's not like I said it's not a big deal. It's not a super serious crime. They'll uh they'll give you a like an offer like a plea deal like a probation for so long. Life Life is always up and down, you know, you just get It's all about how you >> Little pep talk here. >> after you get back up. And you're super >> positive. >> Honestly, I wouldn't stress too much about it. >> I'd stress a little bit about it. We'll get back to his charges in just a moment, but first cops pull over this rented car which was going well over the speed limit. >> Hey, Officer Volk, the Asheville Police Department. Reason I stopped you is your speed. Do you know how fast you were going? >> Yeah, probably like >> Nah, you were going faster than that, man. >> I braked when you were like right Yeah, I saw you when I saw you at >> Yeah, I saw you as you were coming around the corner, man. Yeah, you saw me when I came around and torched the brakes. I mean I get it. >> He got you. Where are you coming from? Indiana? All right. Is this your rental then or what? Yours? Do you have your ID with you? Anything inside the vehicle I need to know about? What's that? No. Any marijuana? What's that? No. Cocaine? Methamphetamine? >> Just going to go through the list. >> Heroin? Traffic stops lead into a lot of different things, man. Nope. Traffic stops lead into a lot of different things. When you're all from one state to another, what not, just ask some questions. >> You might ask, "Who's going to say yes to that? Why would a cop ask if you had that in the car?" Well, it's like, you know, asking women out on dates. You ask enough, eventually someone's going to say yes. >> I sped. I followed too closely. I ran a stop sign. I almost hit a Chevy. I sped some more. >> They wouldn't do it unless it worked. It's a numbers game. >> You'd be surprised what we find out here. You know, found a bunch of cocaine, stolen guns the other week. Traffic stop simply for speed. So >> This guy's a hunter. >> Well, I'll be right with you, all right? >> So that is a red flag for guys who are out there hunting on the highways and the major roads. Rental car, it's usually rented in the female's name. Male might be driving. She rents it cuz she has no record, has a good driving history, kind of helping him do his illicit affairs, whatever they are. >> What do you got going on? They were going 90. Like I said, they were going 90. >> They were going 90? >> Well, they're saying that they're coming from Indiana, going back to the cities, but they have they rented it at 10:58 p.m. on the 22nd, so like 6 hours ago. It has to be returned tonight by 9:00 p.m. back in Chicago. >> And they rented it in Chicago? >> Yeah. >> But they are coming from Indiana? >> Yeah. >> Yeah, that don't line up, does it? >> Yeah. You want to ask if she rented it. It's under her name. >> The driver? >> Uh passenger. >> Passenger? >> Ask them and what their plans are, how they're supposed to return it back to Chicago. >> Yeah. I'm just going to have you step back here. I'm just going to chat with you a bit, all right? Is there anything on you, man? Guns, knives, anything? Mind if I pat you down? Come on out over here, man. >> Easy. >> Place your hands. There you go. Are you on probation out of Minnesota? >> I'm not, sir. >> No? >> I'm not on that. >> Were you on probation before? >> No, sir. >> No? What was the last time you got arrested? >> Uh probably like a few months back, something like that. >> What was that for? >> Uh I got arrested in a car, in a vehicle with some guys, so >> All right. >> about like 2 3 >> Just with some guys. >> Probably 2 months ago. >> All right. What did you get arrested for though? >> Uh being with somebody. I guess they was >> That's not illegal. What did you get arrested for? >> I got arrested for being with somebody. It was like a Basically, they was coming Somebody had a warrant and they was following them. Like he had a warrant for his arrest. >> Yeah. >> in the car with me. I was driving. And that's when I got pulled over I got arrested with him. >> What they charge you for though? >> Uh PC um weapons. >> Okay. What was the last time you got a drug charge? That you at least got charged with? >> That was the same thing. That was I guess it was paraphernalia in the vehicle and they when they towed the vehicle. >> I didn't know. >> inside the vehicle tonight, man? >> No. >> If you got a little bit of weed or a pipe, I'll toss it, but >> I don't have it. >> All right. >> lie to you about that. She just really just picked me up from Indiana. I would have flew, but this cost too much. >> Yeah. >> And I was trying to take the bus, but I still didn't have no way from Indiana to get to Chicago, pretty much. The Megabus is the cheapest. >> Yeah. >> They don't have that up in Indiana. >> How'd you get down there? >> Say that again? >> get down there? >> Where, to Indiana? >> Yeah. >> I drove down there. I drove with my brother to Indiana. This is >> Okay. >> back. Probably like a few weeks, something like that. >> All right. You don't even know how long you've been here. >> No, yeah. It's like 2 weeks ago. >> All right. >> It ain't that long. I've been down here for like 4 days. My sister basically had a housewarming party, so I've been down here at her house. >> Okay. >> Just chilling, vibes. Did I do something wrong or something? >> Well, this is a little weird, man. >> What's a little weird? >> Like a what? A rental that's supposed to be returned in the same city to go up, to go back. You don't know how long you've been down there. You got You have a pretty good criminal history going on. >> Nah, I just told you how long I've been down there and my girl already she got the rental because I've been down here a couple days and I couldn't get home. >> Yeah. >> So, I would have been came home. She actually doing me a favor and >> Why didn't she Why didn't she just get you a one-way and you go drive it to Minnesota and turn it in and be done? >> Bro, it cost $700, $800 to do a one-way in that vehicle. >> Well, >> Believe me or not, it's >> They're going to They're going to That's cuz they already factored the miles in. >> She's going back to Chicago, though. >> Yeah. >> With her dad now. >> No, that's why then they're going to rack up the miles cuz you pay for mile, I'm pretty sure, so. >> No, it's free mileage. I chose to drive here so she could sleep cuz she got to drive back, you know? >> All right. >> Quite the story. >> Get it all right? >> Uh yes, sir. >> All right. >> I have been convicted in 2010. Like I was a juvenile then. >> What was that for? >> It was for uh aiding and abetting, basically. >> What was that >> And >> That's the charge. Aiding and abetting, accomplice after the fact. >> Okay. What was the charge that you're aiding and abetting? >> Um I want going it's like murder, basically. >> Okay. >> Somebody died, basically. I went to jail. I was there. >> All right. >> Told about everything. Came, you know, and then I got put on probation. So, that's the only reason I'm a convicted felon. >> All right. >> I was 17 then. >> Do you have a problem if I search your bag? >> Say that again? >> Can I search your bag? >> Yeah, I'll say you can search it, but I would want to know why. Like, do you not believe me? >> No, I don't. >> [laughter] >> He absolutely does not believe you. Asking people if you can search in the car, it's done quite frequently, but the courts don't exactly love it. >> All right. Well, if I give you my bag and search my bag, I can go about my way and stuff? >> Yeah, if you guys got nothing, you're going to be on your way. >> What do you mean got nothing? There's nothing in the car with >> Guns, knives. >> Nothing in the car. >> Any large sums of cash? >> Say that again? >> Large sums of cash? >> No, sir. >> No? That's why we're just trying to make sure that everyone's on the straight and narrow, you know. So, as long as there ain't nothing crazy in there. >> I don't have nothing, but I don't I don't I don't like the fact that you want to search everything cuz it's like you don't believe me. >> I bet you don't. >> to you and show you like all >> Yeah, people lie to us, man. >> So, you want me to >> Just stay right there. I'm just going to chat with her. All right. I'll be right back with you. Shavonte? All right, it's all right. Is there anything inside the vehicle I need to know about? >> Shavonte, what have you gotten involved in? >> Drugs. Large sums of cash. Can I search the vehicle from bumper to bumper? So, he already gave me permission to search his bag. That's why I'm asking you because you rented the vehicle and you're in the vehicle. All right. So, do you have a problem if I search the vehicle? >> I don't I don't think that's too necessary. That's what's throwing me off. It's kind of I I don't know what what this is getting at, but I'm starting to feel kind of like offended. Almost. I just we were pulled over. And again, I'm asleep. >> Yep. Yeah, and I'm asking you because you're you rented through vehicle and you're in the vehicle. It's not necessarily common to get a get a rental that's from Chicago and be driven up to the cities and return back to Chicago. With his criminal history >> and whatnot. Well, you have some stuff that's whatever and I'm not worried about that. I'm just making sure that there's that he's not in possession of any firearms, all right, because he's a convicted felon and that you don't and that you don't have any drugs. And large sums of cash that you're not that you're not bringing stuff from one place to another. All right, you're still good with me searching your bag? >> Well, what she say? What happened, bro? Tell me. >> know. She doesn't like me, I don't think. >> I'm being honest. She was she's upset. She's tired. >> Yeah. I mean, she spelled it out with everything that's kind of weird. >> She spelled what? >> She spelled everything out that's kind of weird. >> She spelled everything out. >> Yeah. What you talking about? I mean, to get a to get a rental that's go back, you know, you you don't even know how long you've been in Indiana. Cuz when I first asked you >> me to get on the phone and call them to verify you can hear my sister talk? >> you know, the first answer was a week and a half. And then you went and then you said she told me a week and you told me like a month. Can I search your bag? >> Uh no. >> All right. Hang tight. I'm going to go get my serf on our canine. Stay there. >> So, he's got the canine in his back pocket and the courts have decided that a canine going around your vehicle and sniffing the air is not a violation of your fourth amendment. So, he's good to go. >> Nope. Stay there. >> Bro, I'm not I get her too. To be honest, you can get your dog out, too. But, I'm telling you, bro, I really just like the way you said that to me like jumping around there can I search your bag like I'm trying to be like you like she's upset, bro. She's pissed, so that's that's getting on her nerves. You pissing her off. That's my girl, bro. Understand me. >> That's fine. Is there anything inside the vehicle? >> No, sir. >> All right. Secure it. >> I think that's another language. Sometimes they use German or a different language commands. Come here. Find it. Oh, maybe not. Where is it, Kimber? Kimber's got something. Where is it, Kimber? Jovi. Well, indicating there something. >> All right, Eric. You're going to come take a seat in the back of my squad car, man. >> And I'm going to have a look-see. >> All right, Eric. All right, here you go. >> Thank you. >> Can I get in the car? Please. >> She ain't going to get you. >> Yeah, but can I get >> She'll be okay. She can't get It'll be okay, man. Seriously, you'll be all right. >> The barking might drive you insane, though. >> Driver 1720. Possible alert, driver side door. All right, Travonte. I'm going to have you step on out. >> All right. >> Yeah. My certified narcotics canine alerted to the driver side door. I'm going to have you step on out. >> You said what? >> My certified narcotics canine alerted to the driver side door. I'm going to have you step on out. >> Certified narcotics canine. Say that 10 times real fast. >> Yeah, anything I need inside the vehicle? >> No. >> No? All right, then this is going to be quick and easy, all right? I'll have you go step in front of my squad car here. >> I got a question. Is there a reason is Well, not is the reason. The reason why we were separated Can you guys just clarify that for the video? >> Yeah, but it's cuz I have one seat in my car. >> has one seat in his car. >> And he's here. >> Yep. >> Yeah. >> I would like to be in this car, dear. >> No. There's nowhere to sit. Let's go. >> Okay. >> Plus, we don't want you corroborating each other's the little tale that you come up with. >> There's nowhere to sit. The dogs sit in the other path. >> What's up? >> Please, bro. Please. I'll sit I'll sit Put me in that one. >> She can't get you out. >> Bro, she's loud as >> Yeah. >> Just calm down, man. >> Ooh. That is a brick. He's all excited now. Come here. Come here, phone. >> Huh? >> Come here. Look at that. >> What? >> Phone for evidence. >> Woah. Woah. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. What's happening? What is happening? What is happening? >> Take a seat. Take a seat. There's a kilo. >> A what? >> There's a key. >> A what? >> All right. Turn your back. Step on out. All right. Turn your back. >> What's going on? >> I can't travel with you in the back. Is that in there? Stuck in there. >> Yeah. Yeah. This wasn't even Cuz that side was good. This side was popped. Nice knife. Look at a Benchmade. Big money. >> So, all right. I'm just going to read this to you because we're chatting here and there, you know. You have the right to remain silent. >> So, he's reading Miranda off a card. Very common. That's how they want us to do it. They want us to read off a card. They even want you to photograph the card you use and submit that to the DA with your file. Just so everything's standardized and they know that you did it the right way. >> Or not answer any questions or make any statements. Do you understand that? >> Yeah. >> All right. Somebody found what was in the trunk. >> What was in the trunk, man? >> You don't know? >> No, I do not. >> Cuz I don't think the last guy who rented that car forgot it in there. >> Don't give him that idea. He'll run with it. >> trunk, cuz we found also what it looked like a bullet hole on the side of the car. She just cleaned up the car, bro. So, what's in the trunk now that you found it? >> Must have been the other guy. >> I'm going to be straight up >> Yeah, probably about the kilo that was tucked back there. >> And you think I had that? >> You did have it. You were driving. It's in the car. >> You right. I was driving. It was in the car. >> Yeah. >> Who's the guy you said had the car before us? >> I have no idea. >> All right. >> You guys are in possession of it. You're driving the car. And they can both be charged. >> Yeah. >> So, you are under arrest for it, yes. What do you What do you have with you? Is it cocaine, fentanyl, or meth? >> Bro, don't keep asking questions. You tell me what the it is. >> Okay. >> Tell me what's going on. Quit asking me questions. >> It was in the trunk. >> What's up? >> It was behind the driver's side. >> What's up? I need a lawyer to to be able to talk on my behalf. >> All right. Conversation over. The man with the AK was charged with possession of cannabis with intent to sell, possession of MDMA, illegal use or display of firearm, driving on the wrong side of the road, and failure to carry a driver's license. He posted bond, but it doesn't seem that any court proceedings have occurred yet. Eric and Chevonte were charged with felony manufacture or intent to deliver cocaine. However, the case was dismissed.
