For us cops, dealing with difficult drunks is just part of the job. But sometimes annoying escalates to aggressive. In today's video, we have a man who's about to earn some serious charges from a bowl of chicken wings. >> Are you going to pay? >> In another case, we have a man who tries to intimidate his own mother, but the cops show up to put him back in his place. >> Why do I deserve to go to jail? >> Cops in New Mexico are called to a home for a drunken son who's being abusive towards his mother. So, I have other officers looking for him. Okay. I'm going to start just getting the story and getting information from you. Okay. >> Okay. >> Is anyone hurt? No. >> You're not hurt. You're not hurt. He's not hurt. >> No. >> Okay. So, I'm Officer Lopez. Okay. Um I'm sorry. We have to meet like this. Can you tell me a little bit what's going on? >> He just He lives in Albuquerque. He has a drinking problem. He got drunk and he got belligerent and he started fighting with everybody. >> Fighting with everyone. How? >> Screaming, yelling, throwing things. Um, we told him to leave. He left and then he came back and then he broke my screen door. It's just scary. It's his brother. It's just awful to see him like this. We wanted dinner. We have dinner on Monday. Him and his girlfriend drank too much and they're verying immature. They start fighting. It's just escalated. >> What's his name? >> Christopher. >> I literally don't want him to be in trouble. I just don't want him to be here. I'm sorry. I don't want him to be in trouble. He's my son. >> I I hear you. Does this happen often? >> No. Like once before he just can't handle alcohol like we try to have dinner and he gets belligerent. He gets drunk and he says up things and everyone gets mad and then he starts like fighting. >> So he was yelling. What was he yelling? >> That I'm an ugly person. Just horrible insults. >> Alcohol. Who would have thought? >> Not me. Not for everybody. >> This cousin's young. She's like 18. How did that stupid ass girl? >> But he came >> with her. >> Is she here? Shoot. She left first. He got kicked out of the house like get out of the house and kicked him off the road. The girlfriend left first. He left after and he came back. Broke the screen door. >> Do you know how he broke it? Just with his hands or with a rock? >> We were inside. We were calling you guys when he did it. >> Okay. I'm going to go take a look real quick. Okay. >> Yeah, that's fine. >> Involved in the 420. I guess the suspect on suspect's call. >> Who told you that? >> The dad. >> Oh, okay. >> Yeah. So I guess they were having dinner and then he brought his girlfriend and they just started arguing and they got into a physical altercation and then all this happened. But there is some dry blood on the floor and then right there in the store right here. So obviously I'll photograph that as well. >> So were they arguing as >> they started arguing on the left side of the counter told them to stop. >> We're telling him just stop get out of here and then he started calling her a bad mom. >> Ugly person. All kinds of just escalated escalated. So we kicked him out. >> Started telling him get out of here. Both of them. >> Get the hell out of here. They were fighting. >> Well, yeah. The chick got me by the hair, but I'm not trying to like I'm not bleeding. >> Salt and battery. >> Oh, that hurts. >> That's him at the door. >> More than just inside. >> And this is you inside. >> That's us inside. I was recording from my room's room. We had already kicked him out, locked the door, and came back. >> I just want him to not come back here. It's hard for me. He's just an idiot. >> So, I mean, I've heard what you said, but >> yeah, it's >> I have to ask the question. Okay. Do you want to pursue the charges for the damage to the door? >> No, I just want him to not come here. >> Okay. >> So, not uncommon with parents if they're getting to a domestic with their kids. She doesn't want to press charges. really with the domestic, you don't need the victim's cooperation. You can still do charges. You can still arrest. She said they were trying to fight them, that type of thing. So, I'm sure there is an assault in there somewhere, even if there's no battery, but the mom doesn't really want to cooperate. Doesn't want to give any details. So, that would make it harder for the arrest. >> Just about 200 ft west of We're now just give us a call. Okay. >> You're good. Charles the other units. We have two individuals walking this way and >> going to be the girlfriend. >> How's it going guys? >> Who are you? >> Santa Fe PD. >> I know you know. Can >> I get your number? >> What's that? >> Can I get your numbers >> right away? Badge number >> is your number. >> Can I talk to you over here, brother? >> I need my shoes. >> I'll give you all the information you want. I'm the handling I'm the handling officer. I'll give you all the information that you want. Okay. >> I can handle on one thing. >> All right. Do me a favor and keep your hands out your pockets. >> No. >> Keep your hands out of your pockets. >> Or what? >> Or I'm going to detain you. >> You're going to tell me for what? >> Keep your hands out of your pockets. >> Okay. You're recording, bro. For what? >> I'm recording as well. >> I know. And Dude, I'm not recording. >> For my safety. >> No, I don't know what you But but look at her. They're Hey, stop hitting her, bro. She's a woman. Please stop. Please stop. >> Dude, I'm not I'm not I'm not I'm in here. I'm not. [clears throat] Don't resist me. >> Okay, >> you can detain me. Please stop. I'm not >> a >> little drunk. >> I'm not. I'm not. Okay, >> I appreciate it. >> Just please don't detain me. I'm not locked up. >> Please put her off, dude. >> Yeah, we got a 41 trying to fight her. >> She's not going with her over there. >> She's not trying to fight. You're a [ __ ] If you're trying to fight her, she's 125 lbs and I could tell you that. So if you're trying to fight her, you're a [ __ ] cop. [ __ ] ass mom. >> He's a [ __ ] pup. >> I hate your mom. >> I know. I too. >> Okay. This poor mom. >> Angela. [ __ ] you, Angela. >> You're a [ __ ] ass [ __ ] >> Jazz. >> Hey. Wait. Wait. Wait. Please stop. Please stop. >> Look. Look. Look. Please stop. Look. She's fighting. But she's not trespassing. Right. Look at me. Look at me. She is 50 over 50 ft away from the trespassing area. You can't detain her. Yeah, you can't detain her from over there. >> Come over here and sit. Trust me. >> Come over here and sit down. >> Okay. I'm not I'm not fighting, right? >> No, you're not. Just sit down. >> Am I fighting? I can't tell. >> Can you sit me slowly? >> Look at my sit down. >> I really can't. I know. I know. I know. Just hit me slowly, please. >> Jazz. Jazz, stop. Stop. Jazz, stop. Jazz. Jazz. >> My goodness. 30 ft away from the house. She is not assaulting that house. And she could yell. That's legal. Freedom of speech. But look, >> not the way she's yelling right now. She's being disorderly. >> Disorderly. Yeah. For she's >> disord stop. Add to it. Okay. >> So for disorderly, typically you need to be shouting and doing some physicalities and alarming somebody. So someone turns a light on, looks out a window, walks by, looks surprised or [music] shocked. That's usually the uh the elements for that. >> Wait, wait, wait. Just >> I'm I'm legal owner of >> Chris. I'm going to read you something. Okay. >> No, you could read my the rights to get me detained. >> No, be quiet and let me read this to you. Okay. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say during this interview can be >> Am I getting detained? >> Okay. Don't interrupt me. Okay. >> Am I getting detained? >> You are detained. Let me read this and then we'll go from there. >> Please don't put me in jail, bro. I'm I'm really >> You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say >> is handing me. >> Yes. >> Bro, please don't. >> Chris, listen to me. I will explain everything to you. >> Just say what property. >> Cooperate with me. >> Just say what property cuz you know you're wrong. Ain't going to happen, brother. >> I'll fight you in court. You bid nothing. >> You have the right to remain silent. >> You're not arresting me. Sitting down me sitting down. >> And I'm going to show you that you're going to get sued in the court of law and you're going to lose youring cop license. >> Cop license. >> I've never heard this before. I'm sure. >> I used to be a firefighter. You're going to lose everything. I promise. >> Are you threatening me? >> Oh, I'm more than that. Isn't >> refusal? isn't >> you're going to jail. >> Okay, then put me in jail. I'm not >> that. Look, look. They're putting me on. Look, >> they're putting me as refusal. He's starting to sound like Reagan from The Exorcist. >> Watch your damn career that's rot. Watch your career. Watch your career gets rot. Watch your dick. >> I'm not ridiculous. >> Yes, you are. >> No, bro. You want to throw 241? >> Watch your career get dropped >> and there's nothing on me. I have no drugs. Y'all [ __ ] You're a [ __ ] You're ugly. You're a littleing [ __ ] Ugly ass little ugly ass little. You ugly. You can't. Oh, you have to have three officers hit me. You a little [ __ ] ugly [ __ ] Little ugly. Come on. [ __ ] me up. You me. Get me out of the ground. >> [laughter] >> Wow. [laughter] >> Hey, see if somebody has a spit mask. >> Yeah, >> I do. >> You're so This is why people who have special >> educ [laughter] listen. I was swimming, right? >> Chris, listen. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. The reason why this happened is because you were fighting these officers. You spit on Hold on. Hold on. >> I'll give you a chance to not me. Okay. Yes, sir. [laughter] >> Hold on. >> Yes, sir. >> You spit on this officer right here. Okay. So, this is a spit mask. Okay. >> Spit masks are great. It's terrible when you need one and don't have one. They keep you from getting spit on. And also, it's like a little bag of shame that they get to wear to let everybody know how they've been behaving. >> If you keep fighting this, man, you're going to get more charges. >> Okay. >> Okay. Okay. >> You're already in trouble with some other stuff. >> I'm not going to do anything. >> Let's not make it worse for you. Okay. >> I promise I won't. >> I won't do anything but you're stuffed into this jail, right? [laughter] >> Unfortunately, yes. >> Because why though? Just tell me why. Just tell me why. You deserve to die in hell. ready to close down. >> What's going on with girlfriend? >> What's going on? She has charges. >> Mom said girlfriend physically punched her and all kinds of stuff. >> She said she doesn't want to press charges though. >> Oh, cuz when she showed up, she tried to go back to the house and we were like, "Ma'am, you can't." So, we tried to detain her and then she didn't want us to detain her. So, then we just threw her in his car after we defeated her. >> Yeah. >> On her we have resisting it disorderly cuz the way she was screaming. >> Did anybody come out of their house? Any victims? Anything? >> Yeah. No, in her mind, >> they don't have disorderly. >> Let's take her to the hospital. Yeah. Let's see if she's want to go to the hospital. >> Okay, I'll go with you to same base. >> Yeah. >> So, an officer's piece can't be disturbed. You have to have somebody who is disturbed or alarmed. >> Hey, get out, Chris. Uh, who are you? >> Officer Gutierz. >> Okay. He said that for Is there a camera on? I don't see no red light. >> It's all on, but >> I don't see it. >> Okay, get up. >> Where's the red light? >> Oh, you [ __ ] ugly as >> I swear to God. I'll give a I'll you up. You're a cop. You don't need me to talk. You can ignore me, right? >> So, it was at parents house with girlfriend. I guess they got into altercation. Broke a glass kind of like screen. There was blood like kind of going inside inside the house. So, somewhere on him, you know, he had some scrapes. We had to um >> escort him to the ground. Um I like this doc. >> Um, so I went in to irrigate his leg. He got angry because they made the spit mask and got on his face. We told him if he stopped spitting we could take it off, but he became angry and [clears throat] I was washing out his chin. So my hand was next to him and he just tried to bite me. >> Tried to bite you? >> There's another charge. >> His head and he like opened his mouth and went. >> Did you? >> But I moved my hand away. >> You moved your hand? >> Yeah. Did you think he was actually going to bite you? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> This poor hospital staff. We'll get to Christopher's charges in just a moment, but first we have a man who refuses to leave until he gets his chicken wings. >> Um, he had a discrepancy with our policy asking for a refund even though he didn't pay yet. So, we asked him to leave, but he keeps asking for a refund. You just got to say on this sit for a second while I talk to or go talk to my partner. >> Huh? >> No, you can go talk to my partner. >> All right. >> I'm not dealing with you right now. Can you go talk to my partner? >> Yeah, I just took my food. You >> took your food? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, what what are you doing here tonight? Eating. What happened after that? >> $40. >> All the way you could want. They just take my food. >> Okay. Did you pay? Why' they take your food? They said they couldn't give me they couldn't give me them until they took the other food. >> They couldn't give you the wings. >> Yeah. >> How come it wasn't special or something? >> No. >> He's been here since 3:30 the first time. That's probably seven or eight years. >> Oh boy. >> The only thing is he ordered more wings until he finished the first one. That's all I said to him. I said it to him. He goes, "No, give me my wings back." So, I took them away and now he kept yelling at the cook Eddie for a refund when he didn't pay yet. Like, he did not pay. We don't have to refund him anything. >> He had the receipt that he paid. >> Yeah. >> $40. All the drings. >> Mhm. And what they say when they >> said they they just took it. I said, "Look, I want I want my wings." I was eating. They took them away from me. I worked $40 for my >> Yeah. They called them out. They said, "Oh, I can't give you another eight until I take these away from you." I said, "Well, I'm not done with it." >> Okay. People are out there that wants Yeah. >> Okay. But you didn't finish those. >> That might be something with their policy, though. >> Honestly, don't say it on paper. >> Okay. But it's still something they can do. It's their business. >> Yeah. Like you can't go in and be like, "Oh, all you can eat. I'll have a thousand. You got to finish them, bud. >> Show me where it's polished. Yeah, >> it doesn't matter. They can do what they want. What's their business? >> It does matter. >> It doesn't matter. >> So, what's the issue? So, he ordered more wings before that plate was finished. >> Yeah. >> Is that the one that he's still working on? >> He didn't even touch them. >> And then he drank a lot already. And >> you guys you guys not allow me to go? >> No. The most important why I why I calling you guys because he I don't want anyone screaming and yelling. >> And there were other customers in here. They went outside >> because of him. >> Do you have an ID on you? >> Yeah, I do. >> You mind if I get it to you real quick? >> No, I don't. >> Sure. What's your name? >> So, where on here is this? >> It doesn't matter. It's up to them. They're the manager, the owners. >> They're the manager, >> right? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. What if somebody took your wings away from you? >> I know how silly it sounds right now. >> Yeah. >> How would you feel? Kind of childish. >> Yeah. You got somebody drinking some beer. >> Well, that one's right there. I'm scared. And then you got upset cuz I cursed at him and after a while I said, "Look, I wasn't done with them. I want that. I want that." >> But they're still right there. >> No, you took them. >> These are the new ones. >> Okay. >> I had like four or five left. >> Okay. >> What does it matter? It's bottomless wings. They brought you fresh ones. >> It matters to me. >> It matters to me. >> How many homeless people are out there that want those wings? >> You ever serve overseas? >> No. No. >> How how do you want to hear? You want me to ask him to leave? You want to pay the pay the bill? >> You're awesome. But like >> if not, you know, trespass after this. What do you want to do? >> I mean, yeah. I don't mind back in here. >> Are you mean? >> No. >> Are you going to trespass? So, um, just make sure. >> It's up to you. You can come back ever. >> No, I just want of course that kind of customer, we don't need that. But say like just that we don't want. >> All right. I'll see if we can get a piece. >> I think he's got you got me, right? >> Yeah. What's your first name? >> Jasmine. >> He's got you, bro. >> Your ID or not? >> No, I don't. >> So, all I asked for is my wings back. >> So, talking to him. So, what what was the issue with y'all? >> What's I already told your partner right there? You >> Yeah, but he talked to that part. >> Since you wanted to sh me away. >> I did want to shoot you away cuz I'm >> Yeah, he talked to your partner. >> You don't want to tell him what happened? >> No, I don't need to. >> All right, then. Just leave. >> Talk to him. >> All Well, they have the right pay the bill and leave it there. >> No, >> you want to play games? >> I'm not trying to play game. >> It sounds like you're playing a game. I'm I'm not I'm not in the mood tonight. >> I just don't want them back. >> What did I tell you? >> They want you to pay the bill and they want you to leave. >> What did I tell you? >> I heard I seat right there. >> I want a refund. >> Can I say that real quick? >> Yeah. >> I'm not just step back a little bit. Stop walking towards me. >> Stop. Look, I spent 20 years in Iraq. I don't give a free service, but don't don't put that in my face. Hello. Did this does anyone know if this gentleman paid? He's got a receipt. He didn't pay. >> That is his bill. >> Okay. This is his bill. >> That makes sense. >> I did not pay it. >> You still haven't paid. >> Yeah. So, I want a refund. >> You can't get a refund. You got to pay for the food you ate. [music] It's >> receipt. I paid. >> That's not It's the bill. That's how much you owe. >> He actually might not remember that he didn't pay. You got to give them your cash or whatever. >> You pay them and then they can refund my money. >> They're not your money. You ate You ate the wings. >> You ate the wings. You got to pay them. >> The wings. So you take them away and I ate them. They told me, sir, >> you're not done with that plate. >> You're going to pay. >> Yeah. You walk out, you're going to get arrested for theft. So you have you have a second to turn around. >> You have a second. >> Here we go. >> He didn't pay yet. Okay. Goodness. >> Arrest. >> Yeah. You got a card? >> I don't got a card. I got a name and a badge number. You want it? >> Give it to me. >> Yeah. Will uh >> Come here. Why do I have to give you a pin? >> Why would >> Why are you approaching me? >> Why am I approaching? >> Back the up. >> Back the >> back up. Yeah, give me a >> I'm not giving you no damn pen. >> I come prepared in life, man. >> Do you want So, this guy's kind of giving us difficult issues on paying. If he doesn't pay, do you want to sign complaints? If you sign complaints, we'll put him in handcuffs arrest, but you have to come down the station and sign. >> So So he doesn't want to pay, any >> he he's trying to refuse. We're trying to convince him, but um we'll tell him that. Do you want to trespass in the shop? You want to trespass? All right. Do you want him to pay or you just want to forget? It's up to you. >> Huh? >> How much is it? >> $42. >> Huh? 14. >> $42. >> It's only Yeah. For two people. >> Just him. Here [music] we go. >> Start with the recording. Oops. >> You dropped your iPhone one. >> iPhone one. >> Go birds. >> Yeah. You want to record me? Get >> back. Got it. I just told you not to approach me, dude. >> Dad, I'm not approaching you. >> What are you approaching me? >> You were, weren't you? Now you're backing up. >> Weren't you approaching me? >> Yeah. What's the first amendment? >> First amendment? >> Yes. >> Uh, freedom of speech. >> Second amendment. >> Uh, right to bear arms. >> I wouldn't even go down this road cuz nobody remembers the third amendment. >> Third amendment. >> I don't care. >> Fourth amendment. >> Such a seizure. >> Seventh. >> Eight. >> Eight. >> What is it? >> Wow. >> What is it? >> You I'm not in school. I don't have to answer you. >> Yeah. >> You're going to get that phone in my face. I'm going to break it. >> Break. >> Three. >> Break. I'm looking Curtis Ster right now. >> I don't. You want to pay for just your drinks? >> They're trying to help you out right here. >> This guy is obnoxious. And I got to hand it to these cops. They're being super patient and giving him so many chances. >> Sir, are you paying for your drink? >> You're just paying for the drinks, not the wings. For our first case, Christopher was charged with two counts of battery upon a peace officer, attempt to battery upon a healthcare worker, resisting an officer, criminal damage to property, and assault upon a peace officer. Despite facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, prosecutors ultimately decided to dismiss the entire case, and Christopher was never convicted.
