In today's video, we have two cases of some of the abhorrent members of society. >> He was in the girls bathroom. I was like trying to run, but he snatched me before I could run. >> We have a case of a man hiding out in an elementary school bathroom. >> I don't know. It's like it's like a fetish. >> Yeah, I got it. >> In another case of a sting operation that catches a middle school gym teacher after sending horrific messages online. >> Hundreds of parents who who look up to me. What did you say that you wanted to do to his daughter? But first, the cops were called after a teacher got a report from her fifth grade students that there was a man in their bathroom. >> I have some video. It's kind of sketchy in the beginning, but I don't know if you need the >> Where's he at? >> So, here he went behind here. He hopped the fence and went over there. >> They came screaming out of the bathroom. >> Just a bunch of girls saying there's a man in there. He He filmed up. He was filming in there. >> Everybody's safe. There's no kids missing. soccer field now. >> We're good there. So, >> they're in lockdown. >> Drones are awesome. They get rid of the need for an airwing for a lot of cases and you can put them up. Officers can get certified in it and they're great. They have thermal cameras, everything the chopper has for the most part. >> As long as you feel good about this missile, which I do. >> Yeah, I think we're okay. I think we're fine with this. >> That goes smoothly. Keep everybody calm and >> Yeah, I think in and out. >> Yeah, I don't think he's I think he's gone. When I picked her up, she was freaking out and I was like >> terrifying moment. >> The guy was taking pictures of her friends going pee or whatever and then he grabbed her. >> We weren't trying to do anything weird or go to the bathroom. >> Was he hiding? >> Yeah, he was acting like one of the students. And then once I told my friend, I don't think this is like a a girl or anything and then he was getting ready to come out of the stall and so we just ran out of there and then he tried to grab us. If you had to write a worst nightmare scenario for parents, this would be it. >> My daughter said he had her by the arm and he wouldn't let her go and she screamed real loud and she got let go and then the other girl he tried to grab but he couldn't. She took off running. >> He say anything to you? >> No, he just tried to grab us and then he ran off cuz he couldn't grab us. >> Okay. >> Cuz he almost she almost like got tooken but I grabbed her and pulled her so she he didn't take >> You guys did a good job in there. Yes, that's right. >> You did a great job. >> Make lots of noise and fight. >> That's a scary thing. >> I'm not going to let my best friend grow. >> Well, you did good by protecting your friends and by getting out of there. That was super great. >> I seen it and just looking at it and the way he described everything in the video. His name's Micah Hines. >> Okay. >> How's it going? >> Pretty good. >> See here? We'll just have a chat. >> Yeah. Does that work for you? >> Yeah, I'm cool with that. >> Do you know at all why we're here about like the thing that's going on? I heard. >> Yeah. >> You know any details about the thing going on? >> Um I mean I mean like I was looking at the picture too and it just like looks like somebody like I seen on a reservo but I don't live over there anymore. >> Right. >> Yeah. Yeah. Cuz like it's like a native guy kind of like cuz cuz Yeah. It's kind of weird too cuz you know cuz he look cuz he does kind of like me but like trying to push it off. He's not me cuz I've been here all day playing my game all day. >> The reason why we're here is because people were telling us that you look like that gentleman. Sounds like you're already aware of the situation. Okay. Anything involving children. >> Anything involving children is really high in motion. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I don't take people honestly. >> And would you be okay if we looked around your room? Make sure nothing else is in there. >> You okay with that? >> Yeah. >> What shoes do you wear, Micah? >> The shoes I wear is over there. It's size 13. >> Size 13. >> 13 or 14. But it's like the ones like right under top. >> The black ones. >> Yeah. >> I have two different ones. I want my work in the store. These ones, the sketches. Yeah, >> I do remember he had Sketchers. >> Okay. You know what color they were? >> Black. >> We got a couple people we're talking to right now. Um, just to make it easier, just so we can sit down with you. Yeah. >> And I can have more of my collective guys with me. Are you cool to come to the police department with us so we can conduct the interview there? >> Yeah, I'm fine with that. >> Okay, cool. >> You're not under arrest. >> Very cooperative. >> Yeah, I know. I Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Cuz I I totally understand. Yeah. Yeah. I totally understand. >> Okay. Is that your phone? >> Yeah. I have like multiple. I was going to say I thought you had another one out front. >> Oh yeah, that one. But that one is the one I use for calls and stuff. >> Calls. >> Yeah, this one is like my the one I mainly use. >> So they're thinking ahead here. They want all his electronic devices cuz they want to look in those. >> I was just kind of like like in the area, right? And and I was checking my mail and like and I don't know what happened, you know? I just kind of went over there. >> Well, then that's okay. But but tell me >> it's kind of weird too you know cuz like my dad used to kind of do something like that you know to my sister and all that and my sister has a you know like a bad history of like you know my dad >> so were you victimized as a child maybe >> probably around and you know cuz like you cuz like I said I used to live around there and you know then I don't know what happened I just kind of like I mean like I didn't like I mean I did see like a gate that was open so I just you know so I I just walked I was walking right there then like I just want Um, >> you just found yourself in the girls restroom then. >> I mean, I was in the boys and like, you know, cuz like I I mean, cuz like I was trying to like wash my hands. >> So, it seems like he denies everything, but then when you give him information, he kind of goes along. I don't know. He definitely has a vibe that he's like got some kind of diminished mental capacity. That's just my opinion. >> But the other one didn't have soap and I went the other one originally, but I don't know what I did and like why I went in the thing, but I don't know. >> Okay. But but you went into the girls restroom though. >> Yeah, I did. Yeah. >> Okay. I was like like in this corner right here just kind of you know I don't I don't know. I was just standing there just like thinking somebody came in and they saw me and they kind of got scared and like you know cuz like obviously you know cuz they said they got they got scared and say I want to tell. >> Did you see him at first or you just saw that someone was in the stall? >> My friend did because she looked down. She saw the phone recording and so when we were walking into my friend's stall he was trying to get out of the stall to like get us in the stall. And then once we like remember know that it was like a grown man, we left and then he tried to grab us >> and that's kind of when I grabbed her under arm, you know, like I was I wasn't trying to do anything. >> When you grabbed your arm, what did you say? >> I didn't say anything. No, no, no, no. Like that. >> The one that got grabbed first and then he tried to grab me and he did, but I got out of it cuz I was trying to pull my friend out. I was like trying to run but he snatched me before I could run >> by the shirt and got pulled by the thigh. Yeah, I mean double down on that diminished mental capacity thing. It just is um it's a very poor plan and while these people might have really disgusting impulses a lot of times they're a lot craftier than that. >> But they didn't get >> okay by the side. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Would it would it uh does it make sense to you if [clears throat] the friend said that you had a hold of her with one with one hand you were holding her and the friends were pulling her away from you. Does that make sense? >> I think cuz I think like like it was just kind of like how her it was only like a second or two seconds or so cuz I think like they open it and like then her friend saw me like grabbed her and then her friend quickly grabbed her other arm and kind of pulled her away. >> And how did you get free? My friends, there was so many screaming and my friend was like trying to like pull me away but my both my arms were like this so I had nothing to do. >> Okay. >> So I was like starting about to like kick him but >> he started he got he let go of me eventually. >> So he you didn't kick him or anything. He just let go. >> He like saw my leg lifting and then there was like people coming and Yeah. >> And you were screaming? >> Yeah. >> But that's when I let go, you know, but I don't want to hurt anyone or I don't want to like, you know, get myself in trouble and all that. But I was like on my phone trying to see what time it was and I heard and then like but I guess like they probably assume like like you know like all like big pair of shoes and he said I'm telling so I put my phone down then they probably saw I was recording but I wasn't but I wasn't. I was just had my I just had the phone in my hand. >> Come on. >> He was like video recording me and my friends >> said that he stuck it under the next stall over >> but nobody was in cuz I didn't I didn't have full trust in the person next to you. >> Okay. And then um >> how were you able to see he put it in the stall no one was in? >> Uh because I was waiting for my friends. >> Okay. >> Like in front of the stalls and we're not going to find any video recordings at all. >> No. >> Probably looks to me like we see something 5 seconds, but I didn't record anything though. >> Are we going to find anything else? >> No. >> How about child or anything like that? >> I don't download any of that stuff. Nothing on your computer at home? No. >> Nothing anywhere cuz we need to look at all the electronic stuff obviously >> to make sure there's nothing there. >> Okay. >> Are we going to find anything? >> No. >> I mean like a few screenshots cuz like like I said like my dad is kind of weird on that stuff too. So like so like back like I mean like a year ago he used to like like cuz like I was kind of sharing like like my uh email with him cuz he had no email. So cuz he needed like stuff for court. My dad had like like screenshots of like like kids on there and stuff like that. But obviously like like when he screenshots though I see it on my phone, but I take it off sometimes. But but I don't do that. And I don't do any of that stuff. >> Did he say anything? >> He said that I'm coming with him. >> Oh, he said you're coming with me. >> Yes. >> Just like that. >> Mhm. >> You said something to her. You know what he said to her? >> I don't think I think I just said please don't. But she probably didn't understand me. But I didn't really I didn't really speak to anyone any of them. Is is it possible you could have said you're coming in with me? >> I don't know. I didn't say any of that. It's just like I don't know. It's like it's like it's like so I don't know. It's like it's like a fetish kind of. >> Yeah, I got it. >> So, so you had a fetish and you were in there and and so >> yeah, I don't like to be like that either. And you know just cuz like my dad is similar like that too and he used to have stuff like on his like like phone and stuff and I'm not sure if he's ever done anything to us or not but I don't know but I just feel like just sparks up you know like >> and you know what 90% of the people are have been victims before. >> Yeah. So this interviewer is doing a fantastic job. His demeanor is great. He's making Micah feel very comfortable. He's speaking freely with them. And you know the kid knows this about himself. He he knows he has these impulses. this fetish as as he called [music] it. He's telling them everything. He's really not giving much resistance to telling the truth. >> So, it's not >> But my intention was like never to hurt anyone, but like I didn't know that there was anybody in there. But like so if if you guys know like everything like like all that now and like like like am I going to jail? No. Like it's like you know it's like the very first thing like like crime related. I don't you know like like like I said you know it's like a fetish you know. I have no intentions to like post anything online. And so like I don't >> you got to be put somewhere my my friend >> it's like a it's like personal thing. >> So cuz she she believed for a moment that she was getting kidnapped. Is there anything? >> No. I would never do that. >> Okay. >> Yeah cuz I know how serious you know like kidnapping is and I don't and I'm not you know I'm not going to do anything like that, you know, and I just don't want to scare anyone. Don't want to hurt anyone. >> Did he hurt you at all when he grabbed your wrist? >> Like I he like slapped me and like pushed my arm in and my wrist still kind of hurts. >> Okay. Can I see it? >> Yeah, but like it's not like >> not too red but just sore. >> Yeah. >> Like I say, I was just so scared, >> you know, didn't know what to happen. So, obviously, I pulled her arms as like, you know, as like a a defense, something like that, just trying to like stop her. But, you know, like I've met I was never attempted to kidnap anyone, [snorts] >> right? >> So, he 100% would kidnap and hurt one of these girls. He just doesn't want to get in trouble. I think we can see that here. >> Never attempted to like post anything online. It was just it was like a weird thing that just happened. >> Okay. >> But now we have to follow the law as far as what steps we take next. And and it is a felony. So >> how long do you know? >> Um how long would you be in jail? >> Yeah. >> Until you bond down. >> Oh, okay. How long? Like I won't be in there for years. [laughter] >> No. >> I just hope that it won't like like I just hope like people online won't know who I am cuz I don't you know cuz like I said I live you know cuz I grew up in Congo. I've never like grew up anywhere else and I don't want people to like know who I am then like then like as soon as I get out of jail you know I don't want people like hate me for it cuz I was you know that's going to make my life you know like you know like >> fears have no friends really I just have you know just my family I don't want I don't want my you know like my family to like you like you know to feel hurt about that and I do apologize for like you know like what >> ain't going to cut it. We'll get back to Micah's charges in just a second, but first, the cops have set up a sting house while this elementary school gym teacher thinks he's going to meet a 12-year-old girl. >> He said it's a decoy outside, but I think that's our best. >> GET DOWN ON THE GROUND. GET ON THE GROUND. Undercover investigators identified Steven Phillips, a middle school gym teacher who had chatted online with an underage girl. Get on the ground. Get on the ground. >> Go on your stomach. Go on your stomach. Go on your stomach. >> Go on your stomach. >> Go on your stomach. >> Oh my god. >> Stop resisting. >> Stop resisting. >> YOU'RE GOING TO GET TASED. YOU'RE GOING TO GET TASED. YOU'LL STOP. GIVE ME A HAND. >> I got one hand. >> Where's your car, sir? What kind of car is it? >> Having trouble finding words here. >> He's definitely shocked. >> Right from where you walk from, >> Joe. When you look at a man who just lost his life, >> right? You're looking at a man who just worked at his career for a long time. And I was so torn when somebody just messages me, hey, you want to come? And I'm like, what the is this? This cannot be true. Cannot be. And then you just want to like you almost want to witness to see if it's out there. Right. Come on, man. So, this guy's in a position of trust with children. That's over. In a lot of ways, he's right. His life as he knows it is going to completely change after this. This kind of crime is universally rejected by pretty much everybody. And he knows it. >> One, this is not me. This is not my character, but apparently it is because I'm here. And all the times just of of driving over here like, "What the are you doing? This is just ridiculous. What? This is not who you are or what you are, what you're about and hundreds of parents who who look up to me. I've never in a million years even have made a move or have done anything on on >> the problem with what he's trying to say here is there's no thought police like you can't get in trouble for thinking bad thoughts [music] but he's moved on to action. He's actually doing something about these thoughts. So the fact that he's trying to say like maybe he wasn't going to do something or or this was just him thinking about it total BS. We know that >> aren't any girls. That's that's that's I know that for a fact. >> Like what does it matter, gentlemen? >> I'm just I'm just completely embarrassed and completely >> The police said undercover agents responded to one of Steven's postings online as a father with bad intentions. That's when the gym teacher showed up to the home despite the child's age and the nature of the conversation. And having these rights in mind, do you wish to talk with us? >> Just a very honest and open man. However, again, I think talking to a lawyer would be my best bet. Um, >> would you like to talk to a lawyer before you talk to us? >> Yeah. I mean, I got I got really nothing to hide at this point. Like I said, you look around. >> So, that's a huge win. Sounds like he's going to wave Miranda and he's going to talk with them. A lot of times people in this position, it's kind of an ego thing. He knows he's feeling a lot of shame. He knows how terrible this looks, what these guys might be thinking of him, and he wants an opportunity to set the record straight or somehow try to talk his way out of this and explain to them why this isn't really him. >> So, tell me tell me how all this started. Everything's led you to to here tonight. here tonight. I have I have a count and uh I've had account for talking about 10 years and and I've had uh you have baby girls like you have uh girls that you spoil and so that's uh I I posted on that, right? And then and then I've been doing that for for years. You get hits, you see a couple girls and then And and then and then tonight, so he messaged me. First response was like, how the up, dude? Just like what are you? Right. Then you're like, man, I was just just curious. Were you at what you Yeah. At first there was no age and then he said the age and it said 12. I was like, what the right? >> And so you you must have expressed interest, right? cuz that's why you're here. >> Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We know. Of course. Uh >> so you must have said yes. >> Would that would that be would that be fair to say? >> Well, yeah, I'm here, right? Yeah. So So that's that's an obvious thing, right? I wasn't coher to being here. >> Tough interviews to do. I got certified as a sexual assault investigator where I work and they tell you right in the certification like you have to try to ingratiate yourself to these people. You have to shake their hand when they come in. You have to be nice to them to get information because no one's giving you info if you're being mean to them. So, it it is a tough role to fill. And my hat goes off to cops that do this. It's really challenging, but you're working for the victim or in this case possible future victims. You got to keep that in mind and really just be an actor, play a role to get the confession >> after me. Like, no. No, I don't want to come. Yeah. It's like this makes no sense. I stayed in my car for a long time and then yeah just um >> So did you offer anything money? >> This I I said I said do I need to bring anything? He said bring a toy. >> Bring a toy. >> I was like bring a toy. >> Did you already have this or was this this new? >> Yeah, I already I had that. That's uh >> police said that Steven was one of eight nabbed in an operation officers dubbed Operation Overwatch. And Steven didn't show up empty-handed. He brought an adult toy, which he is about to try to explain away. >> What did you say that you wanted to to his daughter? >> I didn't I didn't say what I wanted to do. I just asked him what what what do you want done? What is your I think that was my first thing is like what what are you into this for? like >> okay but I it would be safe to say that you brought this for her >> for him. He asked he asked to bring a toy. >> Okay. >> But you weren't going to use this on him, right? That was that that wasn't part of the arrangement. >> I don't know. You don't know? >> I don't really I don't really know, right? Like I I already know me. I I I probably would have seen the situation and just been like, "What the [ __ ] does God do sake for me? You guys enjoy your life, right? Just to see that it's real and that it's happening and that it's that it's there." Right? And then, you know, that's that's kind of like what I'm looking like. >> You were convincing nobody obviously. And I wish I could tell you this wasn't very common, but I I have a friend of mine who went to the IAT class, internet crimes against children. [music] And he said day one, by the end of the day, pretty much everybody in the class had a file on the hook through a chat room. So, the internet is a wild place. Make sure you're on top of your kids with this stuff. make sure they're not roaming the internet. >> I was like, "What the is all this?" Like, you wanted to see is the girl happy? Is it is this what she wants? Is this what she like? How is this situation even possible? Just more inquisitive about like what the is going through a mind like that. >> Sit down next to it. Talk to it. look at like I'm not justifying anything that I did at all. >> You're trying. >> Is this what she wants? Is was one of the question is this cuz she does this make her happy? Like is this what she is? How does this happen? Right. >> Well, it does happen. But you thought, hey, I'll go to this strange man's house at 9:00 at night >> instead of calling the cops. >> Yeah. Right. That's do you see why that line that line of reasoning doesn't track for me, right? So, we were doing really good. You were being super honest with me, >> but I wanted to go check on her. So, I went to a strange man's house alone called the police. That doesn't that I I can buy that. >> I wasn't saying I was going to protect her. I was going to see the situation, right? It wasn't to protect anybody to see if anybody needed saving me. It was to come check out a situation, see what it's about. Next, detectives dig into Steven's line of work where he spent at least a decade teaching kids from kindergarten to 8th grade. >> This is not something that I I I have my most favorite part of the day is going to school and and greeting these kids. >> And now, like anything he says about kids from this point on is very cringey. And I think he's probably aware that or should be. And and then now and then I I've been at this school for 10 years and I've been the heart of the school, the heart of the school. And then now for me to mess that up and for that to to be spread and for those kids to just hear this, right? For my daughter to hear this >> is a daughter, man. >> Absolutely devastating. >> What is that? Like so every day you're kind of just you're going to school, you're teaching kids, that type of thing. >> Yeah. >> Okay, sounds good. What What does it mean like when you say like that you come here to observe? I don't I don't want Can you help me understand that? >> Maybe I can help clarify that question a little bit if you don't mind. So is there do you do you have any type of fetishes? [clears throat] >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Okay. Is it What are What are your fetishes? Yeah, it's not I I don't have extreme fetishes. So, this fetish right here, >> I knew it was I never said you did. I'm just It's some pretty normal stuff then. >> Very normal stuff. Yes. This outside of normal >> trying to minimize the conversation, minimize what he's into to try to get some more info. >> So, um as far as toys, like what is what does that mean to you? So, you're saying someone messaged you about a >> Yeah. Yeah. So he's like, "Hey, what do you need me to bring?" Bring a toy. It's like when you come to somebody's house, bring a gift. It's a gift. So what do you want? What do you want when I'm coming to your house? >> But who is your gift for? >> For him who asked for it. He asked for the gift. >> Okay. Did he say what he was going to do with the gift? >> No. >> No. Okay. >> This is rock bottom to me. You don't understand. >> I'm a year away from retiring. And then just just for anybody to have >> Well, you blew it. Micah was charged with three counts of kidnapping, burglary, two counts of surreptitious photos, two counts of voyerism, aggravated assault on a minor, and interfering with an educational institution. He was put under a psychiatric valuation, which he failed, and the rest of the case is still ongoing. Steven pleaded guilty to attempted human trafficking while his other charges were dropped. He was released from jail and placed on probation. Guys, thank you for joining me on this video. Please like, subscribe, and comment.
