Police in Centerville, Utah are tracking a driver who allegedly carjacked this US Postal Service truck and it's now headed right for >> the vehicle. >> The driver is refusing to obey orders. >> Get out of the car right now. Get out of the car. Get out of the car right now. >> And instead of getting out, the suspect begins backing up the mail truck >> trying to get away. We got a long gun. >> But is blocked by a police vehicle >> uh 1327. >> So instead, he pulls into this parking lot. >> He's now entering the road parking lot. >> There's now at least half a dozen officers on his tail. >> But it looks like this officer knows a shortcut and is now going as fast as he can considering all these potholes. >> And there's the mail truck. For someone not used to a steering wheel on the wrong side of the truck, the suspect is actually driving quite well. Looks like the officer is taking another shortcut. And wouldn't you know it, there's the mail truck again. The suspect has come full circle and is going out the same way he came in, except now he's got a patrol car blocking his way. He's now completely blocked in and surrounded at gunpoint. >> There's nowhere for this guy to go >> except into the side of this patrol car. >> Victory. Taser. Taser. >> He's digging through his damn backpack. The suspect is holding an 8 in knife and they're afraid he may be reaching for a gun inside his bag. >> Pepper balls out of the vehicle. >> Right arm. >> Hit him in that elbow. Davis, can you do it? >> Like when he leans forward. >> Do you want to stand up? >> Let me know when you're going to do it. >> Less lethal. Less lethal. Less lethal. >> They hit him with a pepper ball, >> though. I'm not sure it's having much of an effect on him. >> Get him right there. Flash. Little >> hit him. >> The suspect is hit again. >> Then grabs the pepper ball and throws it back at the officers. >> Go again. He's going again. >> He's now hit a third time. >> He's coming out. >> Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. >> He now appears to be making a move towards the officers. Got to give a hands up. Hands up. >> They grab the suspect as his knife falls to the ground. >> Did somebody grab the knife? >> He We kicked We kicked him. >> He's placed in handcuffs and helped to his feet. >> And from the looks of it, I'm guessing a lot of people will not be getting their packages today. >> Whose car? >> Okay, that'll work. 32-year-old Wilbur Castellanos Hernandez of Salt Lake City is now facing some very serious charges. And because this involved the postal service, he's now facing federal crimes including carjacking, mail theft, and theft of government property. >> We've said this before, don't mess with the mail. That's it. >> You know, coming after you, >> you get in big big trouble. >> Yeah. Mail trap. An Arkansas State Trooper is in pursuit of this 2022 Mazda 3 hatchback. The drivers refusing to pull over and is going well over 100 mph. CBI here. >> The trooper moves in for a pit. >> He's going on traffic in the hill. Backing off >> and backs off. The trooper tries again, >> but the driver break checks him. >> He slams on the brakes on him southbound >> and takes off. >> We're coming up the north interchange now. >> The trooper catches up and again the driver slams on his brakes for you. SL >> only this time he makes a Uturn. >> We're turn back around going northbound now. northbound side. >> He avoids a Grant County deputy, but just ahead are several more patrol cars. He squeezes between two of them >> going back home business route >> and then a third. But the troopers still right on his tail. Southbound 167 business coming. >> Oh yeah. >> Looks like he's struggling to control the vehicle. >> Still traveling southbound >> up ahead. Officers await with spike strips. He hits the spikes and jumps the curb. >> Spikes are successful. Spikes are successful. barely misses a patrol car >> and jumps the curb again at the doughnut palace. >> Mazda continues to lose control and runs a pickup off the road and is pitted >> he's pitted again and then two patrol cars collide. down Oklahoma. >> He tries to lose them through this parking lot >> and is pitted a third time, >> crashes into a patrol car and takes off running. You can't see it here now, >> but he does not get far. >> I got this hand. I have this hand. 1 2 3 car. >> They placed the driver in custody. >> He was all over the road before I hoisted on him dropped. >> And now to check for damages. >> There's no telling what the he's hit between here and there. >> Oh, I know. >> A total of five vehicles were damaged in the pursuit. Six if you count the suspects. Turns out that the driver had several warrants for his arrest, as well as some weed in the car and a bomb. >> Yeah. Well, not surprising with the warrants. Go, go, go, go, go, go, go. Oh, hold on. There's another one behind you. >> So, uh, right now we have a unit that's involved in a pursuit right now. Uh, they're behind a vehicle that's not stopping >> and they're [music] going southbound on I75 right now. >> Detroit, >> we can get sticks over here just in case. >> Geneva. >> Yeah, Geneva. I can see [music] them coming back out to the trail. left on that western in the trail. Back off a little bit if we got the texture here. >> Copy. Still continuing down on the trail. >> I got texture. Go. No. Get >> Hey, go outside. Go outside. I'll go inside. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. >> Middle lane. South. So they're right there with the spikes. >> We got all three lanes stick on south. >> Okay. All three lanes are stick. [music] >> Okay. >> He stopped in the middle of uh south in the trail. >> Stopped in the middle of the south in the trail. [screaming] >> State fire. Hey, I got a rifle. >> Keep your hands up. >> I got rifle. Step out of the car. >> Keep your hands up. Step out of the car. Step up. Turn away. Turn away. >> Walk back towards the side of my boys. Keep walking. >> HEY, GIVE ME GIVE ME AR REST TEAM. Arrest team. >> All right, stop. >> HEAD BACK UP. >> GET ON YOUR KNEES. I >> clear watch the right side. You got crossfire. You >> got any weapons or anything on you now? >> Nothing, man. >> Why'd you run? >> I'm scared. I just >> Okay, here. Come >> here. I think y'all was trying to kill me. >> That doesn't make any sense. >> The car ain't stolen. >> Okay, but driving like that. Back up. >> I got nothing. >> Back up. When you drive like that, you're putting yourself at risk to kill yourself and others. I'm >> scared. >> Okay. Well, don't say you're scared that we're going to hurt you when you're doing this to yourself. >> Going to shoot me. >> Do you eat these drugs? >> No. >> Okay. You sure? >> Yeah. >> We're going to get your medical if you ate them. >> I know. All right. Making sure cuz we don't want to see you overdose and pass out. Okay. >> Able to get a good deployment. So, he [music] stopped. Um able to get him into custody. The reason he said he ran was cuz he's on parole and he had some weed on him. So, uh, he said he's getting ready to go. He don't want to go back, but he's probably going to go back to prison for if he's on parole for this. So, we'll be on to the next one. >> Uh, we're going to stop a guy. It looks like he's uh urinating on on the building. >> Hey, come here. 98 show. I'm here. Put your hands on the car. Got anything on you, man? >> No. >> Okay. Just taking a piss break? >> No, I really wasn't. I was literally talking. >> Keep your hands on the car. >> I was talking to my wife. Look. >> Okay. >> All right. >> Well, you go see if there's You got >> Oh, dead ass serious. I was >> Okay. You got an ID on ID on you? >> No, I don't. >> Okay, >> dude. I just got stopped by the police, dude. When did you get stopped by the police? >> Right now. >> Oh, we got one running. Going to be southbound. >> Are you kidding me? Is this all you got? Stop moving. >> Stop moving. Don't move. Stand by. Stand by. Well, that was dumb. Move your arm out. >> I'm not >> Give us your hand. >> We got warrants or something or what? >> So, this would have been a simple Hey, >> we got one cop. >> Don't do that, >> dude. I really wasn't doing nothing, bro. I [laughter] really wasn't pissing, bro. >> Why'd you run then? >> No. My was ever out, bro. [music] >> There it is. >> There it is. >> He was driving that car over there. I'm going to go check in there real quick. >> Are you the girlfriend? >> Yeah, I'm the wife. Okay. >> Yeah, he'll be he'd be going to jail. So, >> okay. Do you know why? >> Uh, he ran, he's drunk, and he's got felony drugs on him. >> Okay. Thank you so much. >> Yep. Have a good night. >> So, your girlfriend said, you told her on the phone, you're going to run from the police. >> No, I didn't. >> That's what she said. >> I'm going to let her have this. >> I was just on the phone, dude. He hung up my phone. >> She's like, "Yep, he told me that he's going to run from you guys." I was like, "Oh, okay. >> Why would I say that, dude? when I just caught her before I even got put in cuffs before I even ran. >> So, you were back there snorting dope. >> Okay. So, we observed a guy looked like he was urinated on the side of uh a carry out. So, we stopped him. He ended up fleeing on foot. We caught him a short distance later. Uh after searching him, uh we found a bag of a white powder substance that we're going to send up to our vice unit and see what it is. Um and then he'll go to jail on uh looks like he's got a bench warrant and he'll have a couple on views from us tonight. It's not good to run, especially uh if you're not that fast. Debbie Brandon Williams there involved in some sort of pursuit >> right now. >> Right now, Sergeant >> Sergeant all over the road. >> Our Sergeant got behind a vehicle and attempted to stop a traffic stop. Um, so the vehicle took off on him. >> Just be right. So, right now we're going to try to catch up. >> All right. So, he's coming right up to us right here at KS. We're going to try to intercept, see if we can stop, throw out some stop sticks, and safely get the vehicle to a halt. Are you coming up to Myers 100 traffic light? >> See, he's coming. They're coming up quick. Coming up to cobblestone 105. He's straddling one and two. He's right there. car that Clear on state. >> All right, we didn't get >> What's that come back to? >> He missed our stick. So now we're just a little bit behind it. We're going to try to catch up and take secondary. 2017 Chevy Camaro >> Master Deputy Brilen Salmon. He missed on the sticks but immediately gets back in the car. >> Oh yeah. So just because you miss on the sticks doesn't mean that you're out of the fight. >> So he's going to try to catch back up and see if he can help him out again when they get when he gets further up to him. >> You know, when this happens like this as well, the adrenaline on each of these officers, it's heightened. And so therefore, it's not where you just get back out. You stay there until you actually continue to get this guy. >> Yep. Okay. Yeah, we're coming up to a little bit of traffic here. Yeah, we're coming up the cars now. Speed 100 corn. Just turn around. He just 1050. We got 1080 on foot. 10 foot down. Marshall Acres. Get on the ground. GET ON THE GROUND. [screaming] GET ON THE GROUND. NOW GET ON THE GROUND. GIVE ME YOUR HANDS. GIVE ME YOUR HANDS. Give me your hands. >> Give me your hands. >> Give me your hand again. >> Put your hands right back. >> Turn your tail. I got you. >> Hey, [screaming] tell him one. >> Send your T24. We got one detain. >> To deploy. >> Hey, he's still trying to get up. [screaming] >> To deploy. >> Get off. >> Yeah, he got tased. >> No, he got No, [screaming] he got Hold on. Hold up. >> Oh, he's got something on the side. [screaming] >> Hold up. Hold up. Wait, wait, wait. Turn the other way. >> You got that glass? >> Yeah. He bleeding, please. >> Don't touch it. Don't touch it. >> Now we got everybody accounted for. He's got a previous >> got bandage on it. I [screaming] start bleeding. Bad roll. EMS. No, that [panting] Come on. Stand up. Stand up. Stand up. Can you stand up? Yeah. >> Stand up. >> Oh, he got me bend this. >> Stand up. One, two, three. >> Hey, my radio haven't deal. I was trying to tell you I had stops. Dude, that's big. >> Oh boy. >> Walk, walk, walk, walk, walk. >> We'll talk to you when we get to the car. >> Okay. Yeah. >> Pass out. Pass out. >> Let's go. Come on. Hi. Let's go get >> detention one coming. So, >> hey Grant, you open up your car about >> Yeah, EMS got to check him out. It's the this captain. >> Got him. >> And now, as you hear there, I don't know if he got cut. First thing is for EMS to arrive at that scene, >> treat him medically, and then >> got to deploy. >> They begin again the police work. >> There's lean right there. >> They caught that guy who fled. Looks like that's the vehicle. >> 43. >> You good? >> What's that? >> Beginning 43. >> You good, Donovan? So, come up on a vehicle, looked like he may have been intoxicated. Kind of slowed down, sped up, changing lanes without using his turn signal. Um, soon as I got behind him, I lit him up. He started slowing down like he's going to pull into the church. Um, didn't stop, obviously. Picked up speed coming in and out of traffic, weaving through traffic. He uh made this turn, tried to make it a little bit too wide. Got a little short on it. Then he took off running through the woods where we're able to successfully get him. >> Just the one. >> Yeah, just the one. >> He's got a wound on the side. We saw >> I don't know why. >> All right. >> That's not from us. That was >> it. Before >> he's had there was a bandage on it. Oh, I got you. Okay. >> You got EMS coming, right? >> Yeah, I still got EMS coming. >> All right. Yeah, just sit him down. >> Sit down. Sit down. Sit down. >> Sit down. >> Sit down. Sit down. >> Sit down. >> Something wrong with him. >> Sit down. Sit down. Got a lot of mess. Sit down. >> Sit down. >> Sit down. Sit down. Sit down. >> Just relax. >> Yeah. Did >> you guys find any ID on him or anything? >> All right, let's get in a break here. >> You actually caught him. Sorry. >> Hold up. Now you right there. Who had >> I right there? >> He got He got caught by an old man >> and then I stopped. >> He said, >> "Huh?" >> Yes. Yes. Yes. >> What? Clear my friends, please. >> Huh? >> Please. >> Yes, sir. >> My face. >> Your friends? >> My my my face. >> Your You need to wipe your face, >> please. >> Just wait one second. Am I almost there? >> Yeah. >> You left your flip-flops, man. >> You don't want to talk, >> huh? Yes, >> you left your flipflops. >> Yeah, >> that was unsuccessful. >> What happened? >> Hey y'all. Hey, no chance. >> That's good. >> We got the guy from the >> Latino as well. Latino as well. >> Oh, yeah. I'll just get them. Okay. Well, we got EMS coming to check you out, man. >> All right. >> All right. >> Well, it's a hard lesson to learn tonight. [snorts] While we were just in break, this happened with Captain Danny Brown in Richland County. >> Out here, right to where they are not afraid to come up to a police officer. So, if they're if they're lost, >> like I was saying, They're lost or something, but we're going to go find them, too. Down here drag racing. Hey, Kenny, I got a Durango and a Charger going inbound drag racing, but I got Hey, they're at uh Two Notch. Correction, uh Two Notch and Park Lane now. We're going to try to get up there without them seeing me. All right, we're going to have to bust this red light. I got to be careful with it. >> Yeah, they just came across O'Neal. As soon as the light turned red, they drag raced. I'm uh I'm hoping I can get up to this light at two notches park Lane. If they're still here, hopefully they're here. So, we had a Durango and a Charger take off drag racing from that light. And I'm hoping they're up here at this light. Jammed. Hey, they're still going inbound. All right. myself and Schultz are about to roll up on a call for a wanted person for traffic. >> All right, I'm uh keep them inside. They're going to ride at Columbia Mall, it looks like. So, they just turned in Columbia Mall 900 Central. They went in here. Yep. Not on you. Go ahead. >> Coming in Columbia Mall with a couple cars are drag racing. Dodge Durango and a Dodge Charger. See if I can catch up to them. >> Yeah, >> I'm going to go after the SUV. We're going to be in Clim Mall around the Boulevard right now. I getting ready to do it again. 900. >> Whiskey Zulu Whiskey 291 WZW 291 on the Durango. They're still not stopping. The Charger just blacked out his uh Charger just blacked out his license plate. I'm going to be 10 Z with this Durango. employer >> charger changes license plate to completely dark. During we're pulling into Columbia Mall, but standby. Give me the channel. Shut the vehicle off. Driver, shut the vehicle off. Turn the vehicle off right now. Charger. >> Hey. >> Hey. I'm good on Durango. If somebody can get to the Charger. Driver, let me see your hands. Stick your hands up. Step out of the vehicle. >> Get out of the vehicle. Keep your hands up. >> Face away from me. Face away from me. >> Anybody else in the vehicle? How old are they? >> Face away from me. Drop to your knees. >> Drop to your knees. >> Yes. Is that serious? >> Put your hands on top of your head. Passenger, step out. Hey, I've got the Durango. I need one more out here with me. So, hey, keep your hands on top of your head. Everybody else back here. And Corporal Kenny Fitz Simmons is now going after the Charger >> that left that scene. >> Court Road downtown Road. No, not >> left on Cork Road. >> All right, we just pulled into >> [ __ ] warehouse at 134. Just pulled into a warehouse at 134. >> Okay, guys. We have multiple units back here. We can we can probably walk in on this. One goes to the east side of it and one goes to the the south side of it behind 130 court >> 120. >> Hey, walk me into it. >> That unit that's there. Just stay right there until you get another unit. Let's see where you're at. >> 210. I'm in front of 130. >> All right. So, apparently the car is back here behind 130. >> Give me an address where this car is at. I'm 88. 13 court cert. He's off on foot. He's on foot >> now. He's getting back in the car. He saw He did it with the Well, he's coming back out. >> Oh, no. Back out of the front uh entrance right there. He be coming to you. [ __ ] Sick them. Let me see. 1314 coming back out that drive >> over over there over there over there right there. That car coming out. I might have got him on six. [panting] Keep the unnecessary comments off the air. Too many people talking on the radio. Makes it hard for people to >> be able to talk. Going towards Mononttobill. Northbound Mononttoello. Monell coming up. Looks like he's getting ready turn back. 20 left. 20 left. >> All right. So, we were all just talking about the fact that we were surprised >> better and pick it up. >> He was able to find him. Curtis, you were talking about the communication. >> Absolutely. The communication between the deputies was so important as to who saw that vehicle, what direction they were going to. So they what they did was they all got in that same vicinity in that area just in case they came that way and that's where we were able to get Simmons catching that vehicle. Now >> any any sense, Captain Flowers, about whether the stop sticks were successful? >> It appears they've been going so long now since that that deployment by the corporal. I it doesn't appear to be they typically will have some effect pretty quickly in my opinion. said 4:30. >> Hey, I'm right behind you. I'm looking right at that car. 43. Yeah, if he takes broad river, we're going to be at the top of the exit. He said so. He just called across to the number three lane. might be trying to get off partner area to clean all this out. 20 westbound. 20 westbound. I got six more than exit on Broad River. Northern exit on Broad River. >> Number two lane 20 westbound. I'm up to Broad River. >> So they are now Curtis continuing to move on this search. It's a dark color Dodge Charger. >> Talk to us about why he was asking people to stay off the >> It's almost like a gray color >> able to get information out that's important of that moment because if people are keying on that radio, you have something that's really important related to this case, you can't get in, you could miss something that's going on. So that's why it's important just to give brevity. Whatever you need to say, get in, get out. It has to be important. >> Traffic passing coming up. >> Notify Lex County. Corporal Kenny Fitz Simmons is still looking for that Charger that fled from he and Captain Danny Brown after Captain Brown tried to pull them over for drag racing. He's got one of the cars pulled over, but they're still looking for the second one. There was a moment though a few minutes ago where Corporal Fitz Simmons pulled out the stock stops. >> We weren't certain. Let me see again. >> If they hit and since the pursuit is continued, >> presumably they didn't. >> That was quite a moment. Now we go back live to Captain Danny Brown with the other car >> involved here. He was calling it a Durango. I think it's illegal for you to have that cover on the license plate. Just so you know. >> It doesn't matter. You can't have anything on the license plate. >> Hit me with everything in the book. >> I could. >> That's crazy. >> I could only do me like that. I'm really good. >> You're the one that's doing you like that. You are the one that's doing you like that. >> Really good people. >> Friday night. >> It's a Friday night trying to race him though. That was >> Dude, you were 100% trying to race him. 100%. Everybody at gas station saw you do it. I was standing by the gas pumps when you did it. I saw it. Everybody saw it. >> And both of y'all, >> but we wasn't. >> Yes, you were. Yes, you were. Yes, you were. Tripping. >> I told you I'm not arguing with you. I'm going to bring all the evidence going that fast. >> I'm gonna bring all the evidence to court. My videos, all the stuff is going to be played in court. >> Yeah. >> And it's going to go in front of the judge or jury at your choice. But all of that stuff that was recorded, I'm going to bring to court, bro. >> Yeah, you was. >> Come on, bro. You got to do it like that. >> All right. So, >> I'm trying to put this stuff back here and then I'll get her that ticket. Um, the driver is going for uh reckless driving, drag racing, um, possession of that THC wax. It's a felony. It's possession of a controlled substance. He can't have it. And that in any amount in our state's a felony cuz it's it's that dangerous. Uh, he's also again going to be going for possession of marijuana for the other baggies of weed I found inside his vehicle. His passenger is going possession with intend to distribute marijuana for all those bags that he had inside that uh, backpack that he said was his. Uh all the cash is getting seized. The weapons gonna get seized based on the narcotics as well. And uh the vehicle is going to get towed. Those two gentlemen are gonna be going to the jail tonight. She's been very cool. She got a small amount of weed in her purse. We're going to write her a ticket and cut her loose and uh call Uber driver. Little bit of paperwork to do and we'll roll on. [snorts] >> Do you have any evidence bags? Like >> turned out to be a rough night. >> Okay. Can I grab just two from you? I'm I use them. >> Uh busy night uh last night ranging from a lot of nudity to much more serious uh topics. So, let's get in some updates. Uh let's begin with your department, Curtis. Okay. Richland County, South Carolina, where Captain Danny Brown was at a call at a gas station. >> Loud noises immediately got his attention. >> Drivers were apparently drag racing. Captain Brown went after the two cars, a Jeep Cherokee [music] as well as a Dodge Charger Hellcat. Now, look closely at the license plate of the Hellcat, which suddenly disappears. >> Talk about that. >> Guys, as soon as I came up, he hit a switch and completely blacked out his license plate. >> Captain Brown was quickly able to pull over the Cherokee inside the vehicle. $6,000 in cash, marijuana, THC wax, Glock, 10mm pistol. >> The driver insisted he was not drag racing. Captain Brown was not buying it. >> Meanwhile, as all this was going on, Corporal Kenny Fitz Simmons was attempting to track down the Charger that had fled. >> He actually attempted to lay down these stopsticks. The >> suspect soon led Corporal Fitz Simmons on a high-speed pursuit, reaching speeds of 120 mph. Air support was called in, and then with some help from above, they were able to follow the car for about 50 minutes. Eventually, the driver lost control and crashed. The driver was apprehended. Nicholas Childs has now been charged with failure to stop for blue lights and sirens, reckless driving, unlawful carry of a pistol. Fortunately, there were no injuries in that crash. You know, Curtis, your department really using sort of all the different tools to try to find this guy. >> I got to tell you, with air support, it gives us such a big advantage, especially when somebody's fleeing like this. >> Yep, absolutely. And it worked. Rebecca Smith may have a pursuit heading towards her. Your incident has >> 26 at 20 split. We'll let you know direction travel here momentarily. >> All right. Has been updated. >> 107 speeds at about 70 right now has been updated. >> Your incident has been updated. All right. All right. Your incident has been updated. >> 420 should be in this tinder with >> has been updated. >> We're going to be getting on the I20. >> Your incident has been updated. >> All right, I 20 going towards uh region three about to pass the Bar River overpass. >> Your incident has been updated. your incident. >> Still on 20 number three lane. Slowing down. He might take Broad River. Slowing down right before the All right. It looks like he's passing the bridge. >> Your incident has been >> All right. Still on Broad River. I'm sorry. Still on I 20 number three lane. >> Your incident is passing the exit. your what's your speed? I'm about half quarter mile for you. >> If you can get sticks before Monosel, we're >> number two lane 75 light traffic. >> Yeah, I'm going to get up there and try to get the spikes out on my half mile ahead of you. >> All right. Yeah, if you can get some speed, uh, you should be able to. I see you. All right. All right, looks like >> your incident has been updated. >> All right, still on I 20, number two lane. >> Your incident has been updated. >> Light traffic, 90 mph. >> Your incident has been updated. >> Speed. I'm not going to get him out in town, so I'm going try to bump up to Fairfield. >> All right, good. Copy. Stone 920 coming up on Monosella. These are 80 flight traffic number two lane. >> So right now we're assisting Casey PD in a vehicle pursuit. >> All right, Beck. I'm actually going to get off on Monosello and set him up right here. >> All right, you're going to have to switch over their channel cuz I'm not going to be able to tell them. All right. Still on I20, number two lane, light traffic, speeds 85. >> Looks like the people in the back seat obviously putting their hands out the windows to basically say, you know, we don't have anything to do with this. We see the Casey police there, though, Curtis, as well. So this incident must occurred in the town of Casey. So now you have a pursuit going into Richland [music] County. So we're assisting them with this vehicle. >> All right, we're passing the Monosella exit >> still on 20. >> Your incident has been updated. Yeah, there's your gloves. >> All right, we're still on 20 heading towards F Fair Fairfield. Exit 70, number two lane, 90 mph. >> Your incident has been updated. All right, still on 20 heading towards Fairfield Road. Speeds are 80. Light traffic. >> Your incident has been updated. All right, looks like we are passing Fairfield exit. Still not 20 >> number two lane. >> All right, so we're piecing together what exactly what's happening here. We believe this may be a stolen vehicle and that they may have tried to lay down stopsticks >> previously here. Right, Danny was about a half a mile away from this pursuit. He laid down the stop sticks, but we're not sure if it was a hit or not. >> And they're going much faster than it looks >> from our Look at that. >> 109 milesPH right now. You would never know that just from looking there. You now you have a better sense of exactly how fast they're going. >> Those other units can hear us back also. They were way too close to >> All right, number three lane. I 20 number three lane coming up on north main. Move out of my way. >> Your incident has been updated. >> All right. Still 920. >> Passing north main exit. >> Just let you. >> All right. Good copy. All right. So 920 number one lane passing Fairfield Road exit speeds are 100ated. >> Your incident has been updated. >> All right. Still on I 20 passing Fairfield Road exit number one lane. Speeds are 95 light traffic. >> All right Tom Rizzo as we are watching this happen. We are listening to Corporal Smith give out directions. She's got a specific role here. >> Sure. And she's quarterbacking it as far as what the car is doing, what lane it's doing, the speed, and the updates for the passengers. But it's important too if there's cross communication between the KC Police Department and then the Richmond County Sheriff's. That's going to be key because when there's more than one agency, got to be able to talk to each [music] other as well to coordinate. And they do, they have that capability. >> Back to number one. Your incident has been updated. >> Okay. Are we? >> No, I'm number two car. Well, kind of number three car. There's a I believe two Casey in front of me. All right. Still number one lane. We're passing two notch. Still on I 20. Number one lane. Oh [ __ ] God. >> Your incident has been updated. >> All right. Passing two notch exit number two lane. >> Your incident has been updated. >> Coming up on >> exit 76ated. >> Alpine. This guy needs to stay like >> you're going to let your dad take it over. >> I copy. They want us to take over. >> Your incident has been updated. >> All right. All right. >> Behind you. >> All right. Yeah, you can tell them to move. I'm coming up. >> They're charging. >> Whoever has contact with South Congre, you can tell them move. on I 20 still number two lane. Uh looks like we're coming up to exit 80 Clemson Road. >> Deputy Sloan Simpson you see there also involved in this pursuit. And we were just talking Captain Tom Rizzo about the way she's giving these directions, but she's doing that so that the person right behind the vehicle doesn't have to do it. >> Textbook. So the lead vehicle behind the suspect Maybe uh which may be Deputy Simpson now and stuff. >> K9 unit's going to take over lead in the chase. Um >> so if if they bush bond, we're going to go ahead and deploy the dog. show the bush going number one lane 20 or 100 >> Curtis in some other departments we watch on this show they might have already attempted maybe a pit maneuver here, >> right? At this time, supervisor has to give them the okay to do it. They just can't do it. So, right now, that word has not been given to them to be able to do it, but they haven't >> and and I would think that they're not in a rush to do it right now. They've got a lot of officers there. They've got the vehicle in their sight >> and and you know, they pit maneuvers can be dangerous, >> right? And we always talk about time is always on their side, especially when you have that many law enforcement agencies involved with this. They're going to stay on this vehicle. >> Yeah. has been updated. >> Looks like we got a front passenger and possible rear side passenger. >> So, we're actually leading the chase. Um, so we got two K9 in front of us that um >> definitely a front passenger. >> They're going to deploy once the vehicle is stopped. >> Be advised. >> All right, still on 20. Looks like Richland County now taking over this pursuit. >> Light traffic, two, three vehicles. >> All right. So, they may have sticks up here set up from uh believe Camden PD. >> So, we're going to try to back off. Your incident has been updated. All right. Heavy traffic. Heavy traffic. Stand up. >> Your incident has been updated. >> All right. He's in the >> has been updated. >> Median or the the shoulder. Oh, no. No, no, no. >> Still in the suicide lane passing vehicles on direct. >> Are he blacked out? >> Your incident has been updated. >> Got him just passed tractor trailer up here. Looks like the road's opening up a little bit. >> Traffic. Traffic emergency lane. >> Still got pushed all the way in the back cuz of that little traffic. Um they should have a dispatch lug off exit. Still on the shoulder. >> Your incident has back in. I believe he's number two lane here. >> All right. Your incident has been updated. He just used his blinker. >> They're still black out. So they might not be able to see him coming to the last second. >> All right, we're coming up to L golf exit now. Exit 92, number one lane. number one line. >> Curtis, you were just making a point that may seem obvious to some, but it's important. >> Absolutely. Every time you get on your ship, you always fill up those tanks because you never know when they end up in pursuit. That's going to take you on a run like this >> where you're going to need that gas. >> Yeah. Let's do the number one lane. >> I guess that was all right. The lights came back on. All right, slowing down. Slowing down. Looks like we're taking Lug. Actually, stay on 20. number one. >> Your incident has been outdated. >> So you see there we're showing you at times two different angles, right? One is a closer up shot which looks slow but that's the wider one. You see that is that is how fast they're going. So when we're closer up and it may look like it's a little slower like that, it's not slow. >> Still number one >> 90. Look at that. >> No traffic. >> Your incident has been updated. >> That second one should have been a good hit. >> Your incident has been updated. >> Yeah, he's slowing down. A lot of heat coming out. Stop commands. >> Yeah, the front passenger went out. Be careful. >> Slowing down. Number two. Sam has been updated. So, >> we saw that tire basically come off there. Captain Wizard, does it change any of the strategy here? >> Of course it does. You have now you have people also still with their hands out of the windows. Is this a kidnapping? Are they being held against their will? There's obviously some type of disconnect there. People want to surrender. The driver wants to keep going. It's going to change it up drastically now. >> And they've got the K9. Uh they're ready to go. >> Absolutely. These guys whoever can go to your right and left it be pretty clear once you get over that highway. >> The swamp to your right. Want me to go in the back? They're behind the initial short lanes of slow traffic. >> Does the driver have one hand out the window? >> It can't beat them. Join them. >> I mean, >> it it appears that the driver does have one hand out >> unless someone's got three hands there or there are someone from the middle seat is somehow >> putting their arms out. putting their arm out. >> Well, look at that. It does look like there may be three people in the back seat all putting their hands out. >> Rear passenger has their hands out the window. >> Driver is already waving his hand out. I don't know what he's trying to >> Yeah, it's the driver waving his hand, but I don't know what the driver's waving about. >> He's trying to negotiate while he's asking the K9 to pull up side by side. Wait till he sees the K9 in the back. >> It seems like he's trying to give orders with his finger. Get over here. >> I'm not sure if there any weapons in the vehicle or not. That's why they have to use >> caution. So, looks like the last deployment of stop sticks slowing him down. That's not stopping him. >> Yeah. Parade of blue eyes. >> Drive until he's not able. >> So, right now, I mean, >> K9's saying that he's >> not trying to um >> he's not trying to stop for us. I think they'll try to stay out of it. I told them to keep the gap between us and the incoming driver behind us. >> At least one of his tires is blown, but we're still rolling on at 40 mph and so um >> I mean he may get to a clear spot and try to run. We'll find out. But if he does, he's going to get dog bits of your data has been updated. Be careful there. A lot of water on each side of the road. >> Moving in. >> We're coming up on exit 98. Camden exit lane 35 miles per hour. Dr. How many cars are >> in what was a very high-speed chase in Richland County, reaching speeds up to 110 mph [music] is now a slower speed pursuit because one of the tires has basically come off what they believe is a stolen vehicle. All the passengers in the back seat putting their hands out the window >> suggesting that they're ready to give up, but apparently not the driver. >> All right, speed's down to 20. On the 20. >> All right, we're stopping. We're stopping. We're stopping. Behind you. Behind you. Behind you. Behind you. >> Driver. >> Exit the vehicle with your hands up. >> ONLY THE DRIVER. >> BACK [laughter] PASSENGER. STAY IN THE CAR. STAY IN [screaming] the car. >> Driver, exit the vehicle WITH YOUR HANDS UP. Do it now. >> Yeah. >> Exit the vehicle with your hands up. Face away from me. >> Driver, >> stay in the car. Passenger, >> stop. Driver, >> take three steps to the left. >> Three, STEP, STEP. THREE STEPS to the left. >> Driver, stand up. Keep walking. Back, back, back, back, back, [screaming] back. >> You want to call rear? >> Driver, back seat. Passenger, exit the vehicle with your hands up. What are you doing now? >> Face away from me. >> I had a good run, but >> as y'all can see, >> three steps to the left. >> County got me. >> Left. Left. Stop. >> My name is Dylan. >> Who's got contact? >> Keep your HANDS UP. >> WHO'S GOT CONTACT? >> Keep walking back. my grandfather's Jeep. >> I didn't want to stop >> because I was helping out earlier today and he ran to get out of the car. >> Rear right passenger face away from ME AND STEP TOWARDS MY boys to my family. >> I love y'all. >> When I'm going to get out, I don't know. I don't know if they're going to give me bond or what. This is my first adult like this. I have a lot going on, but but to the youth at home, y'all keep y'all's heads up and stay out of trouble. >> Hey, you got one more in the car. >> Hey, get What the hell? >> Hey, GET HIM BACK UNDER COVER. GET HIM BACK. >> Front seat passenger, step out of the vehicle. Face away from my voice. >> Hands up. Step back to my voice. Step, step, step, step, step. >> All right, stop right there. Down on your knees. >> On you. Where's your death? >> Is there anybody else here? I >> got a lot going on with me. >> Y'all boys got them spikes on me. >> A lot going on in my life. >> Who's with me? >> I'm just trying to be rough, bro. I love you. >> Get back. Get back. Get back. Get back. >> Yeah. Clear. >> All right. 420 clear channel 69 >> four times. >> All right. So we had four occupants the people finally came to us something for people to look forward to and I see myself getting in positions like this and um it's just a reminder that uh you know >> can be out. Uh I believe so far we have traffic charges from Casey uh police department and >> is the night. Had a long day today. >> She was uh front >> front passing the way. >> Uhhuh. >> Once we get them in cars, we need to clear that entire number one lane. All right. Hey, >> do we have page view? >> Yeah. Okay. Hold it down. >> Where's your ID, bro? >> My ID is [clears throat] right there. >> P DY. Hold it down. >> If you're out here with us, we need to at least put two of these in your car, please. >> All right. So, uh, this guy took us on this long chase. He says that it's not because he has any warrants. done anything in the vehicle or anything. He's just saying that he had a bad day today and he didn't want to stop. U so right now we got four of them detained and we're going to be looking through the vehicle just to see if there's anything in there. Uh and then go from there. >> Hold it down. This [ __ ] not a joke. This [ __ ] ain't a joke. Like, man, hopefully we can learn from this, man, and get past this [ __ ] Like I said, family, friends, I love y'all, man. Hold that [ __ ] down at home, man. Continue to keep your heads up. I'll buy a little >> Parker. We're out of gas. >> We got >> I'm kind of at a loss for words with this guy. He's just taken them on a 30 minute or so pursuit at speeds close to 110 miles an hour with the passengers sticking their hands out the window to say we surrender and he's giving you know sort of community lectures about uh kids this you know don't be like me. >> Yeah. And and now of course he's got to deal with the repercussions behind that. multiple charges as well is going to be tacked on to all of this that he has done. >> Yeah. Let's go back out that scene. And by the way, we should point out the other three are just being detained for now, right? >> Well, they're all detained and they're going to question each of them and find out exactly their extent or participation in what's going on. >> Oh, one's part of the community crime watch, >> which is good news cuz soon as y'all they hit the blues, I should have just stopped, man. This [ __ ] ain't working, man. It was a little fun while we had at it, man. had the whole damn Richmond County out here chasing my ass for damn near good ass time. But it's not worth it, man. Anybody at home, that [ __ ] ain't worth it, man. I'm going down, man. >> They might put me in the cell with PD. Hopefully not. >> Ice. >> There's another one in there labeled taping it or something. I get my car. >> Okay. >> I love you. >> Yeah. >> Second one. >> Oh, yeah. >> So, pretty much the story is just my grandfather. My dad was driving today. Not my dad today. I took off on on Casey today. I got away from Casey. >> When did you when was that? >> That was this afternoon around 11. >> He was not with >> Yeah. >> Yeah. They weren't aware of that one. Like, it was slowing down. Like, I don't know what. And then the brakes was messing up. Like, there's a lot going on in that car. Like, a lot going on in that car like electrical wise. Like I wasn't trying to stop at some point because I was the >> brakes. The >> brakes the brakes ended up getting fried too high or some [ __ ] I went to go professional ditches down and y'all had me scraping along the line and [ __ ] >> That's what happens whenever you run 100 mph down there in state >> and you hit the brakes, they get hot. >> This guy was going to shoot him or just No, >> put your hands on her. >> He doesn't seem to have a clue how serious this is. >> Well, and we talk about this all the time here. The police officers are involved in a chase for 30 minutes, high speeds on the shoulder, and they have to sit there and maintain their composure while these these people are making jokes about it and how easy it is to get your license restored in a case like this. Uh it's just one of those things that's more difficult than than most people realize for us to deal with with that. >> Not to mention all the lives that they put in danger doing what they did. >> I love y'all, man. >> I love you. The suspect there in the red shirt who just took police on a 30 plus minute pursuit sometimes up to 110 m an hour. That is a vehicle coming up to transport him out.
