Uh we got a vehicle pursuit officer uses by the third third bike that's refusing to stop. >> In Baton Rouge, Louisiana with Sergeant Jordan Lear. >> All right, he he made a U-turn right here somewhere. Go back. >> Officer Christopher Coleman also joining in in this pursuit. >> We're on the grass here in between Greenwell and Airlines. >> All right, so right now we're trying to trying to catch up to a vehicle fleeing another officer. Oh, I'm up here. It's passing Greenwell. Hey Lear, call in. You can go with it. You can go with it. Oh, he's going >> Not very good. Come on, Carl. Well, thank you. Oh, [ __ ] >> Black male, green jacket, blue jeans and boots. With a black book sack. >> So this started with Corporal Ussy there. Now we see Sergeant Sergeant Lear also following this guy. Not easy though when the guy is on a dirt bike. >> Uh so right now we're trying to get this guy to stop. Uh he's refusing. He's probably He's done some very strange things. Unfortunately, we can't pin it. So we're going to just keep Keep trying to keep him in sight as safely as possible. Hope he don't injure himself or someone else. So he just I don't know where his goal is here. Probably try to get close to his house. Not the smartest thing. So, he's got his face completely covered with a what they call here a shiesty. So, this is a dead end. So, this is a break park. He's going to crash. Somebody stay at the entrance. Someone stay at the entrance. He's going into the woods. Just stop. Stop. He's going through the park. He's going through the park. Someone stay here. One unit with me, stay here. Set up a perimeter somebody with a computer with a map. So, the the fellow just went into a one of our recreational areas which is unable to be accessed by car because of the pipe fence. So, one of our other units just picked him up on the other side. >> All right, so I wouldn't say they've lost him, right? Yet, but not in sight. >> Correct. Yeah, that's one of the difficulties of not just chasing motorcycle, but chasing an off-road dirt bike. These guys can get off, they can cut through fields uh just as we've seen here. And so now, just as they were talking about, we got to set up a perimeter and hopefully he either pops out or he lays down in there that they can go in and find him. >> All right, just get a perimeter set up and we'll get some drones and a dog. >> What happened? >> Uh so, he's somewhere in that brake park still. Um he keep Basically, he went out to the road, they saw him, he went circle back into the park again. >> So, right now we're going to So, I'm going to stop and take a second look at a map and see where I believe he's going to come out just to see. >> All right, so the search will now continue for this guy. Let's go right back out to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where a dirt bike fled from officers there. They believe that he went into this what they called recreational area here and they've got officers in different locations around it. >> back here, but there the the problem is this is a recreational park that they use for like uh mountain biking. So, they have mountain bike trails that go a long way through here. So, if if he's familiar with the area, he can actually go a very long way in the woods, basically like a little uh dirt trail unimpeded. Uh so, it's not like it's wooded where he can't ride the bike through. He can actually ride it straight through there. We're going to go on a little hike. So, there's if you walk through here, they got a pipeline back here where it should be all clear. Larry, that's why I'm back. I'm actually in the woods walking to that pipeline on a trail. So, as you can see, he can easily come ride straight down this. I know he cut through here. Uh maybe we might be able to see like a little trail and see how far off he went. And there's a a waterway through the backside of this these woods, so he can't really cross. So, he's got to be between here somewhere. They're putting up a drone right now. So, hopefully we can get a a solid perimeter put up, and then we can um potentially apprehend this dude. Let me see. Oh, here's the trail right there, I think. No, I don't see it. I guess the grass isn't wet enough. Y'all hear the dirt bike? >> For Sergeant Lear >> Yes, your boss. >> and Officer Coleman are now trying to participate in a perimeter trying to catch this dirt bike that just fled from them, but you heard uh Sergeant Lear say a moment ago that there's a lot of mountain biking trails there that this guy could have potentially escaped onto. >> It's a forward >> Stop talking. >> I see him. He's right there. He's right there. He's right there. >> STOP TALKING! >> THE SUSPECT IS IN THE woods going out to exactly where I said, going to Hooper Road. He's on the trail and he's moving uh I guess it'd be west. He's going toward Hooper Road. >> You know, we were watching him go toward Hooper Road right now. If you can get in there and get him. Uh he'll come right out to you. >> Stay off the radio. He just needs to He's probably back on Hooper Road now going uh north. He's definitely back on Hooper. >> Yeah, he opened his door up. >> I think he's stuck. So, he's either stuck in the mud right there or he Look, you Whoever's in the unit that just passed and y'all just passed him with lights on. On Hooper. >> Actually >> The drone is running. I'm going to turn around. >> Oh, walk over here. He's still He's still right there. He's coming at you. >> He's still right there? >> Yeah, he's stuck. >> He's still in the woods. It's possible that he's stuck. >> He just cut it off. Now, he might be armed as well. 10-10 >> Yeah. >> We got the camera up. >> He just got off the bike. >> Look like he's running. >> Yeah, the drone the drone right now. >> Let's just >> Hey, let's just hold the drone. >> All right. There's the enter right there. >> We're going to hold until the drone gets here. He's definitely still in the woods. >> Whatever unit right there on Hooper, hold your position there. Uh he won't be able to come out past you. He's in between us these tree lines right here. >> Uh just watch this person around to the other side of this uh pipeline then. That way I can watch it a little clearer just in case he pops up. >> Anybody who's south of the brake park can move north and establish a new perimeter. >> I'm trying to see um this is neighborhood right here. >> I guess that'd actually be east, so I'm sorry. Whoever's west of the brake park can move east. >> So basically what we're doing right now is this guy is he's in the woods right over here. It sounded to me like he tried to go out to the Hooper Road, but there's some very soft like swampy area there and it sounded like he got stuck. Uh and then we saw him come back a little bit and it looks like he's right in the woods, but instead of just going in there and he running the woods we can't find him. We'll wait till the drone gets here so we can put eyes on him and then go. >> I think the EBR one they might be able to help too. >> Strategy here is don't rush. >> Take orders is air one. >> know what I love their strategy out did his strategy. So the kid obviously went toward that area knowing where he was going to go to get off road, right? To get it away from the patrol vehicles, but here it is they knew the same thing and they said no problem we'll set up a perimeter you'll walk right into it. >> He's probably trying to make his way through that mud now. It's going to be it'll be tough. So >> I just don't want to go down there and he run off. >> run off or we have to end up getting into something. >> wait we got a perimeter. >> Right. And then there's definitely the smart option. Running into a blind, no cover, nothing. >> [cough and clears throat] >> Maybe we should get four wheelers or dirt bikes. Deploy our dirt bike team. >> Give me a tactical Segway. >> [laughter] >> Deploy our dirt bike team. >> See the K9s are now out. This is a dirt bike that fled from officers there and ended up on apparently stuck in the mud. As you can hear about a hundred yards or so away from where they are now, but they've been waiting for K9 and air support to arrive. They believe they have him pretty much surrounded. >> B O Z E N. >> He'd be making a lot of noise. That bike trail, yeah, that bike trail cuts that way back towards the park. So if he came anywhere that way you'd immediately hear him. >> Okay, well then that means he's probably still somewhere within that big water thick right there. >> Do we have a drone up or not? >> No, he said they weren't able to get it up. >> Awesome. >> Yeah. >> I think Carlton said he's trying to walk him through it. So >> Yeah, we'll see how long that takes for now. Uh but there's some more folks up that way. >> Down. All right. You got more people up here? >> Yeah, it's like layering two or >> Okay. We'll go up there and start. >> Yeah. >> Hello. I don't like the fact that you talked to me but didn't want to answer my questions. I know you're listening. You got the run down? >> Any people there? >> Yeah, like a green army jacket, black, the shiesty mask. I mean they've been >> Covering pretty much one around this area. What's your dog's name? >> Gunner. >> So if black male. I know even if we can just use your dog to narrow down where he went. Uh but No, we we So the bike So he was in the woods while we were down there. He and then he came out and he tried to go that way and you can he was revving it like you could tell he was stuck. Either stuck or went that way. And then I'm 99% sure he came back this way and it's somewhere from here to that direction. That's why we pushed up to here just to close the gap. And and we stopped here cuz you got close. >> And y'all y'all seeing like tire tracks or anything like that obvious? >> So so back there we didn't we actually saw him. >> Okay. So y'all saw him this way. >> Yes. >> All right. So >> Yeah cuz he came in >> off in these woods it's so thick >> Yeah. >> you're going to hear him working his way back whatever way. So >> So we we checked How far did y'all go? We This is where we stopped right. So we checked a couple like little they got a couple little trails and then the one you came in on. >> Okay. >> Uh but he was in this side and came out and went that way. >> Okay. >> And then you can hear the bike. >> So he could possibly still have the bike with him unless he dumped it. >> Yeah. So that bike's going to either be he's still going to be with the bike or it's going to be stuck ditch somewhere right up here. >> Okay. All right. >> I'm so scared of snakes. >> Dude there's a train don't worry about it. Trust me. It doesn't hurt that bad when you get bit. You just got to watch where you walk. It gets deep. Straight up that's our drone unit. Searching. >> What's the field? >> Drone unit have you found us? You want to lock through the passes. >> Come back towards us and just just in the area we're looking over. >> Uh pretty much in there. So Uh do you have a car that you can say he's really making that far to go right now? Especially without his hearing. Sir. Hold on. What's he got? >> I don't >> What you got? >> Hold on. Not me, bro. >> I almost got him. >> Right here. >> Oh, you think that's it in the pond? >> I don't >> Got the bike right there? >> I don't know. >> Hey, look at that. It is it. Looks like it. >> Back out. Back out. Let me come check on the south side or this back side of the pond here. >> All right. We think we >> It might be up in this little area. >> Yeah, that looks like >> Back out. Back out. >> All right. We think the bike is in the pond. >> Back out. Back out. Back >> So he drove into the pond. It's not really a pond. >> All right. It looks like the bike is inside the pond, which means he can't be that far because this is all you know, a foot and a half water. So we would definitely hear him and see him at least coming out. So right now looks like the dog is on to something. So we'll let the K9 K9 guy work. >> does. >> Him and his partner and see what we get from there. What if he's swimming across that pond? >> I think he >> stuff out the way. They talked to Brad. >> Yeah, that's that's the one thing. You would think the circle wouldn't be closed up already. >> Right. >> He's going to get the bike. >> I mean, it's possible. >> Yeah, I don't know. >> How deep is that pond? >> I don't know. >> It's I don't know. Well, I ain't going to find out. >> that. >> You got a rope in there? >> I'll give you all of my [ __ ] and I'll give you the first one for sure. Just hold on to my [ __ ] Hold on. >> Maybe it's the city boy in me, but I don't think I'd want to be in in swimming in there right now. >> I'll go out on a limb and say in the middle of the night in a swamp in Louisiana. You know, I get away from a looting. Do we say maybe digesting? >> Yeah, yeah, yeah. >> [laughter] >> I mean, yeah. This might not be worth >> Lions and tigers and bears, oh my. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Nope. Yeah. Um and they seem pretty confident now that they found the bike that he just can't be that far there. I would swear I heard something on the highway. You know, I'm going to stay out here, fellas. >> Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. >> I heard something. >> [laughter] >> Yeah. I'll be out here. >> Yeah. All right. We'll keep an eye on it. >> I told you I get stuck. >> Yeah, you hear them some some of them getting stuck. >> I think he he came back this way, Travis. We could see his silhouette. >> The only thing is if you look, that looks like kind of like a break right there. You know what I'm saying? >> Yeah, right there. >> No, it's all about this. See all that? See how it's all the rest of it is in there? Yeah, he could have came out right here, right where that tower is. He might still be in there. >> Dude, this uh I'm going to try to work my way around to this side. That might be a little tall piece right there. We can get >> No, I would go this way. >> Huh? >> I would go that way. >> Yeah. I'm just I ain't trying to uh ruin my vest and everything. >> Hey, I'm going to let y'all go ahead. I'm going to see how deep that is. Try to pull the bike out. At least pull it up. >> Uh that Dude, the bike is the bike is this tall. >> We can try to glass it with this leash or something. >> All right, that'll work better. >> rope in my car, too. >> Yeah. Yeah. That'll work. >> Oh. I'll be the guinea pig. Oh, [ __ ] They've now spotted the dirt bike, but they're still looking for the driver. It's a deep swamp. >> Yeah. >> He's going to catch the crawfish. >> Oh, boy. Catch anything out out here. >> Yeah, he'll probably catch the something you need penicillin to kill, too. These guys deserve a little hazard pay, I think, for this one. >> I tell you, us Northeasterners, Yankees, we would not do that. You know, you get these Southern boys and girls, they are amazing to me. >> They uh and and, you know, they they have the the bike there somewhere in that swamp. And now they're just trying to find the guy. I'm sitting here looking up gators in swamps in Louisiana. >> The answer you get is locked. >> Yeah, and you know, but that maybe that's just the game. >> Yeah, the city boy in me doing the, you know, >> I'm with you. >> They have spotted the dirt bike. >> You ever watch that show? >> What? >> Turtle Man? >> And it looks like >> Take it. Oh, god. >> Come on. >> Is he taking his stuff off in the water? >> They just said he's the guy that's the Turtle Man. Get [laughter] up. Come on. >> He's got I'm telling you. To get the bike? >> Built different. >> Yeah. >> Man, these guys are the real deal. >> Of the three of us, Rizzo would be the one to take his shirt off. >> Yeah, yeah. Rizzo would take his shirt off and then wouldn't go in. >> [laughter] >> I'd hit you up to watch. >> Yeah, yeah, exactly. >> Is that weird? >> He's like, "Guys, I'm just providing support." >> That's it. Yeah. Just checking the temperature. >> Look at this. Look at this. There's the bike. There's the bike. >> Nope. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, there's a bike and and there's also 40-ft alligators in there. >> So, somebody just got run over on Foster. >> [laughter] >> Jersey boy. >> 40-ft gators. >> And anacondas. >> Yeah. >> For real? >> Yeah. >> Is this the bike? >> Yes. >> Yeah, that's it. >> Number 49? >> Yeah. >> Yep. >> All right. >> Hey, I want you walk around a little bit and just make sure there's no person over there. >> Hey, bro. If he can't swim, what's his fault? >> Yeah, like I'm serious though. Just let's make >> Sure. >> That would that would not be a good look. >> Yeah, no wonder he got off the bike. >> Well, you might you heard >> That dude's been in the gym. >> Now he gets to keep it. >> All right. I will come help you, but my hands are full. >> Yeah, my >> I've got his shirt. >> Don't let his little phone >> Oh. >> You think it starts? >> Yeah, I doubt it. >> I doubt it. >> I'm trying to drop the important stuff. Everything in my hand. >> You got it? >> Yep. >> I think. >> Your shirt's over there. >> This is [ __ ] heavy. >> Yeah, I told everybody, man. Them things are heavy as [ __ ] >> Man, y'all need to do some cardio. >> Oh, damn, that is heavy. >> This sucks. >> Ah, probably got water in the tank or something. >> This thing better be stolen. >> Let's go all the way out to the road and we'll deal with it out there. >> Ah, I don't know. >> That way? >> That's me clapping. >> All right, well done. >> Corporal Brett Ousley there, [applause] man. >> Well done. >> Wow. >> Yeah. >> That is commitment. And courage. Yep. Yep. And that is Officer Chris Coleman helping him out. >> And our camera crew there standing there in the swamp. >> That's true, yeah. >> They can zoom in a little bit. >> Yeah, sure. >> [laughter] [clears throat] >> There you go. >> Turn it to your right a little bit. All right. You're going down. Take as many rests as you need to. >> I just got a handful of equipment. >> You heard him say that he hopes it's stolen. You can understand after the effort he's put in here. They now have the dirt bike. Look at Corporal Brett Ousley there. Went in the water again. >> He's in power. >> Hey, bro. >> You got to kick-start that thing. >> I don't know. >> No, that's a shield. >> On the other side. >> I ain't ridden one of these in forever. >> If that thing starts Y'all might have to mute this. >> If that thing starts out, kiss your whole ass. That thing was in the swamp. >> Yeah. That ain't going to start. >> Is it in neutral? >> Hey, uh no. I'm just going to say this, they don't run on water. >> You want to try? >> Nope, wasting your time. >> We got a long way to go. >> Roll one on your [ __ ] >> Roll one on one come. >> Hey, hey, stop, stop, stop. Somebody take this stuff. Put the bike in neutral. Push it all the way down as many times as you can and then I pull it halfway up. Wow, look at that. >> Oh, let me help you. >> Y'all need some help? >> You take that the left side and I'll hold the right side. >> All right. >> I'm going to push it in. You pull it to your side, I think. >> Oh, sorry. >> Let me just do it. >> Yeah. >> You sure? On me or right? >> Everyone needs a supervisor. >> A supervisor or a country boy. I'll tell you right now, I would have called AAA, right? That's what I would have did. But you got these country boys that go in swamps. All these guys are 6 ft 15. They They just They're built different than us. Damn, we're in the Northeast, man. >> And Dan, I you know, as they were talking about how to get into neutral, the the rear wheel was locked up and it is. You kick it all the way down, you kick it one up, boom, you go into neutral. I assume you did not know that and that is why you ride on the back of another dude's bike. >> That's right. That's right. That's right. [cheering and screaming] That's right. >> And you don't operate a motorcycle. >> That is that that is why in Daytona Beach I was I was riding on the back and and a term that I learned that I'm not going to repeat >> um about >> We had a HR meeting today. >> Yeah, exactly. I I That's I can't repeat the the phrase that was used for >> The riding was fine. It was the holding on. >> not holding on. That's not true. >> that. That's not true. I was actually very careful not to hold on very Yeah, it was only the part when I put my head when I put my head on his shoulder. Yeah. He asked me to stop putting my mouth so close to his ear. He was like, "It's a little weird." I was like, "What? What's the big deal?" >> Nothing. Just tell him slow down. >> You know. >> All right. >> In Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where they have recovered a dirt bike from a guy who fled, but have not found the guy yet. >> Hold on. Let me give you some help, partner. So, after a tiring trek through Louisiana swamp, with a stick, we were unable to find the guy. We did get his bike. >> [panting] >> And uh I'm willing to bet based on in-car camera that we have a good shot of his face cuz he turned around a bunch of times. So, hopefully we got something to go on. It ain't no It ain't fixable. A little bit. >> Just a little bit. All right. Hold on to it. Hey, you got a light? >> Oh, here. My bad. Hey, you ready to copy the VIN, Lear? Right here. >> Huh? >> You ready to copy the VIN? >> No, hold on. >> It would be cool it would be great if we could actually talk to Corporal Lucy out there about the decision that he made to go into that swamp, take off all of his equipment. See if maybe we can do that, maybe talk to Sergeant Lear out there. >> [ __ ] >> All right, I believe that we can go back to Baton Rouge, Louisiana now. Where There they are. Oh, look and Corporal Lucy now has got his uniform back on and his equipment back on there along with Sergeant Lear. Gentlemen, thank you for taking a minute to to join us. Quite a scene there. Corporal Lucy, I I can't imagine that's part of the training that you go through to have to dig through a swamp to get a dirt bike out. >> Uh no, definitely not. I don't ever remember that that part of the academy, but you got to be able to adapt. >> I'm thinking this was definitely a matter of seniority, right? And I just want to also know how deep would it be before you turn around and said no, too deep. >> He wasn't [laughter] going to give it up. It had to come out. >> Um and uh finally, any any sense of where the guy may be now? >> Uh so, when we were tracking through the woods, they had a bunch of little avenues and different trails. Uh the dog really didn't pick up on much. Uh and ultimately for the charges we had, we just thought enough was enough with it. We'll do some follow up with the cameras from the in-car and we'll try to get a facial shot of him and go from there. >> John? Hey, Sergeant, real quick, kind of like Tom here was pointing out, man, that that supervisory rank really matters at times out there, doesn't it? >> Oh, yeah, the water's only going to go up to about this deep, if you know what I mean. Then [laughter] somebody else got to take over at that point. >> But hey, but hang on. But Sergeant, you were the one who said, "Put it in neutral and let's roll it out of here." So, there was some need there for a for supervision. >> Yeah, I'm not sure what these what this guy grew up that he doesn't know, you know, [laughter] all the way down, half half up, and you roll it. Seems simple to me. >> I grew up around Honda four-wheelers. I never really dealt with Kawasaki's or any kind of dirt bike, so >> That makes two of us. Don't worry about it. I'm with you, bro. Well, guys, you guys went the extra mile tonight. So, thank you, and thank you for taking the time. We really appreciate it. >> No problem. We'll get right back to it. >> Absolutely. Now for some updates from Saturday night. We start in Baton Rouge, where at the top of the show, Sergeant Jordan Leer was in pursuit of a dirt biker who was refusing to stop. [music] >> Black male, green jacket, blue jeans, and boots. >> The biker's face covered with a shiesty. Eventually, he went through a recreational park. The area was wet. Sounded like the bike got stuck in the mud, though. At the time, they thought they had the suspect basically surrounded with the help of K9 Gunner, they thoroughly searched the area, but they did not find him. But they did find the bike. Corporal Lucy removed his shirt and equipment belt, and then went in after it. Getting out of the swamp is easier said than done. >> Hey, hey. Stop. Stop. Stop. Somebody take this. So, put the bike in neutral. Push it all the way down as many times you can. And then I pull it halfway up. Wow, look at that. >> Feel like it's something Bradley Taylor would be saying to me. As if I'm if I'm trying to get it out of there, it'd be like, "Damn." >> He was He was being a punk. [clears throat] >> [laughter] >> We now know a little more about why that biker may have fled. According to the department, the suspect was possibly leaving the area of a reported shooting while wearing the the mask. As for the bike, they did find a VIN. The bike was not stolen. So, they're still trying to identify the person on that bike. One more thing we asked if once they got out, remember they talking about whether they could start the bike up again. Uh Corporal You See I said, and I quote, "No, unfortunately, it's not a boat." >> [laughter] >> I mean, I wasn't the one who asked, just so you know. Um By the way, big shoutout to Officer Christopher Coleman, you saw him there, helping to push that 400-lb bike out of the swamp.
