It's going to be turned on East Brookstown. We are going We are now going southbound on East Brookstown. Southbound on East Brookstown. Still southbound on East Brookstown. Southbound on East Brookstown. All right. Officer Devon Johnson also now involved in this pursuit. vehicle. All right. Coming up to uh we coming southbound M. We coming up to Windburn. We're on Prescott right now. We're actually started at found westbound westbound. on the fire. That car is smoking. >> 38 Street. >> Hey, he's break checking. He's trying to find somewhere to bail out at. What are you? Got it. >> South. >> I think it's occupied one time. Hey, let's start getting a perimeter set in this area. North Aadian windburn Prescott 38. He's on legal. >> He's trying to find somewhere to bail. Back on that Priscal. Are you going to blow? You got it. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Oh [ __ ] Hands. Hands. Hands. Hey. in there. >> Hey Ben, come over here. Over here. Over here. Over here. Over here. >> J. Open the door. Open the door. >> Hey, if you if you want to move up, hold cover. I'll straight. >> I got him. You got him. Got him. [screaming] >> Hey. Hey. Back up. Back up. Back up. Back up. Hey, if you want to move, if you want to move up, hold cover. I'll pull him out. You ready? >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> There's two. There's two. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Watch him. Watch him. Watch him. Watch him. >> I got I got my weapon. >> Get in the cage. Get in the car seat. >> I got crawled over. >> Hey. Hey. Hold up. Hold up. Pull up. I got him. I got him. I got him. I got a real >> take that back. Take that back. >> I can't. I got to put him in my car. >> Negative. Nobody outanding. detained. >> None outanding. Two detained. >> Did you get your knees on your knees to die, man? Chill out, man. I know. Look, I don't want to talk. Sit down. Sit down, man. Hey, sit down. Sit down. I sit down when I sit down. >> Sit down. >> Sit down. Sit. Feet in. >> I want to talk to you. >> 97 was the last last. >> All right. >> Going to be one of the vehicles from a homicide investigation. So, we're trying to make a traffic stop on him. He refused to stop for some officers behind a vehicle kind of kind [clears throat] of going in the circle. Look like he was trying to find a way to bail. You end up crashing on uh Aine and this is Aine and Prescott after we uh after we uh had the vehicle crash. We kind of trying to watch Crossfire cuz everybody's everywhere. But we end up getting getting end up getting a drive out. Got the passenger detained as well. He's threatening. He want to kill himself or uh suicide anything like that. He's going he's ready to die. So we trying to deescalate him a little bit, but that's what it is. So right now we going to continue investigation. See what else is in the car and then we going to go from there. Sounds good. Good [ __ ] >> Hey, what you got? >> Hey, I know. I know. >> Yes. This is the homicide vehicle that uh one of our homicide text abol Abola about earlier. Um one of the force district units got behind the vehicle. We um for safety lo sight of the vehicle. Then the vehicle uh came off of East Brookstown back on Prescott going westbound and we got behind the vehicle again put us on a lengthy uh vehicle pursuit and uh crashed into a vehicle here at Airline and Prescott. Now we have two uh subjects detained at this time as well as a vehicle. going to call our homicide ters out and uh they'll probably come officially storage the car so they can collect any evidential anything of evidential value from the vehicle. >> It was almost >> a homicide investigation there. >> What's up, boss? What's up? >> Nothing much. >> H what did y'all do to watch out? >> I'm uh >> murder vehicle. >> Yeah, homicide >> a homicide [ __ ] But I'm uh >> coming this way. >> Okay. And then that car just came. I seen the white DMC hit the brakes cuz I'm on the phone. time hit the brakes, >> right? >> It was too late, >> right? It just happened. >> I'm going to push this car. I'm sure >> you want to try to push it. >> Okay, you good. You good. >> It's not going to be worth it if >> I'm going to uh >> It's not going They got the uh flip thing. >> The flip thing. >> You're good. I'm going to look up your information. >> You got yourself a stick, right? >> I ain't feeling, bro. >> Pocket knife, bro. >> Don't lose the value. or something >> here in just a few minutes once we kind of >> meat stick. You'll be all right for 20 minutes, bro. >> You did the last record from the back. >> I think I thought you looked familiar. Where was that at? >> On right before Florida. >> Yeah. Yeah. I thought you did look familiar. Was it just you in the car? >> Yeah. >> Was it this car? >> No. Uh, it was this car. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Take your foot off the brake. >> Are your hands okay that you could write out like a statement for me? Like a witness statement? >> Hey, take your foot off the break. I do. >> I'm trying to put it in there. >> I do. >> When was that? When was that? >> I have no sense of time being. >> Okay. Just this past year. >> Let's check you out. Okay. I'mma get you a witness statement. >> I know our uh our attraction of the individuals was a little wanky. A little wanky. I ain't know what to call traffic. That's when we did that. right here. My bad. >> Let me let me um This isn't even I'm not trying to get >> like >> So, that is the guy who just got hit uh during this pursuit. And Captain Rizzo, as we were watching this, you were talking about different kinds of pursuits depending on where they're happening. >> Sure. Well, first of all, it boils my blood to see innocent people affected by something like that. But yeah, if you heard the mindset of the pursuing officer, he's saying going into a development, we're automatically thinking bail out. This guy's looking for a place. He knows the area. He's going to look to go into backyards, go on to property. Going back out onto a highway, they're looking to escape. They're looking to flee. So, different perspectives, different tactics on what we're going to do on how we're going to set up to apprehend them. >> Yeah. If they're going on the highway, we're going to set up stop sticks and try to funnel them into certain places, you know, really stop those cars. And in a development, we're hoping to set up a perimeter and get K9 and all that involved in this pursuit. And obviously because this is a homicide investigation, it's not the sort of thing that's going to get called off. >> Absolutely. Either, right? >> Absolutely. All right, let's go back out to Baton Rouge there. >> That's fine. >> I can't be on TV, man. >> What's your name? >> Um, Kendall Hickman. >> What's your name? >> The Kendall Hickman. >> The Kendall Hickman. Can you spell that for me? I was uh just trying to >> No, no, we appreciate it. >> Do work, you know, always looks ain't you find them. D, >> it's better for one more time. D >> officer Devon, >> I got it, Mom. I got it, bro. Ain't no big deal. >> All right. >> Appreciate. >> All right, you hang tight. We'll be back with you. >> We got We going to call and we going to notify everybody. Okay, boss. I mean, this ain't the news. >> I got I got a pressure. >> All right. >> Not for real. I ain't trying to I ain't trying to I wipe you like I wipe my little girl, but All right. Straight. I mean, I still got some more egg coming up, but >> you still got some more throw up or what? You straight. >> I ain't got nothing to drink. >> I ain't got nothing to drink for you, boss. >> [ __ ] >> All right. Well, that was eventful. >> I'm over here. I'm going to be throwing up. >> All right. I'm going to tell them to cut the for you both, but you have to go in. All right. Oh, never mind. Um so >> both of the individuals that were in the that were in this um homicide suspect vehicle are going to be transported to the hospital. The individual that he got in a crash with is fine. He's not injured. He was not transported to a hospital. His wife came pick them up. They went away. Um we're just waiting on Ro to come and pick the vehicle up. We hate when these situations happen, but when you have homicide suspects and they're driving in a homicide vehicle, we got to get that vehicle stopped. Um, and we hate that it had end in a crash, but due to the seriousness of the incident that occurred, we had to get these individuals stopped and taking them to our homicide detectives so they can be interviewed. But that's all we have right now. >> Hey, I'll thank you. >> All right. So, Officer Devin Johnson there trying to assist the suspect as he >> appears to be throwing up. That's officer Charleston Armstrong there. >> We are going to >> Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We're at the top of the show. Officers Charleston Armstrong and Deon Johnson. Pursuit of a pair of fleeing suspects who were wanted in connection to a homicide investigation. The pursuit went on for about 7 minutes. Eventually, the driver raced through this intersection where his car t-boned another vehicle. Person in the other car was not hurt, though the vehicle was heavily damaged. The two suspects removed at gunpoint, placed under arrest. The driver then seemed to be having some sort of medical issue and was vomiting, wondering whether he maybe had ingested some drugs. Eventually, both he and the passenger were treated by EMS before being taken into custody. But we what we didn't know at the time was that the driver was actually wanted for murder. So this wasn't just a homicide investigation. So a lot to unpack here. We're now joined by officer Charleston Armstrong. Thank you so much for being here. Really appreciate it. All right. Before we talk about the charge, first talk to us about how the pursuit uh began, how you spotted the car and and how that h how that went down. >> All right. So, um, one of our fourth district units had initially saw the vehicle and was following the vehicle for a while. Then, uh, he realized that the vehicle was fleeing from. So, we put it out on the radio and just so happened to be me and, uh, officer Darmman were not even a block away from where the, uh, where the initial officer saw the vehicle. He lost the vehicle at some point in time and then we picked the vehicle back up in the same area where he was lost at and then we started pursuing him from there. It seemed like he was almost breaking you there for a while, >> right? Yeah, it seemed like he was breaking, but he could have been either trying to break check us to get us off of him, or he was breaking to figure out where he wanted to turn at. So, I I really think he didn't know where he wanted to go, but he was just trying to find somewhere to go to try to at least get it get away from us. >> All right. So, so we knew last night this was connected to a homicide investigation. Is there more you can tell us about that actual homicide investigation, him as a suspect? >> Yes. So, um, September 17th of this year, uh, Joseph Mitchell was found deceased was found deceased on, uh, in the 3900 block of Eleanor. Um, we got some good information from credible credible sources that, uh, they were using a vehicle, a silver Honda court, which were which which is what they were in. We also got some information that they had changed the plate on the vehicle. So, our detectives, our homicide detectives had sent out an email earlier that day saying that uh the vehicle has been uh scanning in these areas and it's been it's still moving around, but the plate has changed. And so, we had a good we had a good vehicle description. The the paint on the vehicle was a little messed up and the plate was obvious on the vehicle. So, that's kind of the information that we had. >> So, some sounds like some good police work. De Kendall Hickman, 26, there he is, was charged with first-degree murder. He has a prior for first-degree murder. uh which is hard to believe is a juvenile. Officer Armstrong, thank you so much for coming on the show. Really appreciate it. >> Yes, sir. No problem. Thank you. >> So, we've just uh received the LPR hit on a vehicle that was previously flagged for >> being involved in retail thefts. Uh one of our deputies saw the vehicle uh pull out of a CVS. It's not from our area. Um they ended up uh following the vehicle and sending a deputy back into the store um CVS where they did say a theft did occur. >> And as you can see, our deputies are now uh taking the individual into custody. >> Good. We love that. >> All right. All right. real. >> You got it. >> Oh, yeah. >> Oh, they definitely uh been on a run. Definitely been ahead. So, open the door. >> So, as we saw, this car was flagged earlier. As you can see, all the stolen merchandise in the back. You guys want to get them maybe off the roadway a little bit? >> Pull it forward. >> Let's get it off the highway. >> Yeah. Slow down traffic a little bit. Definitely good pop. >> Who Who caught it first? Who had the who had the eagle eye right here? >> That's it. Good job. >> Yeah, that's the right 22. >> They probably hit a lot of a lot of stores. >> I saw that. I said, I was like, "Yeah." >> Oh, most definitely. >> Yeah, it is rewarding to find them with the the bounty right there. >> Back with the sheriff there where they busted some suspected shoplifterss. I don't think so. >> That's your brother? >> That's your brother? >> Your family? >> That's my brother. >> Look at that. You guys committed crime together. We arrested crime together. >> You see I Come on, buddy. Oh jeez. Not a good eye though. That could make an interesting episode of the family feud. >> Absolutely. Whole family's long. >> Top five things you might steal from a store. Number four. >> Sit on a board. >> Yeah. >> Another wild ride through Florida so far. And if you want to watch more, subscribe to Reals Plus with a 7-day free trial and watch moments like these live before they go viral. >> We've got a report of a possible drive by shooting there. Callers advising they've got a video of it. Of course. Yeah, I'm nice on you. Got aviation. We're getting aviation now. [gasps] Police you on land line check the Camera got called. 41 there. 48. >> Last one. You lay in line with the caller. >> What was the numeric? I thought it was this one. West numeric on it. So, right now we are dispatched to a possible drive by shooting. >> Did you call us? >> No. My Okay. >> He should know who they were because they're shooting at him. >> They're shooting at who? The house over here. >> No, they shoot right there. You will find the bullet >> case right here. Like uh >> All right. Well, don't >> touch it. All right. >> You should find the the suitcases right here cuz he started shooting right here. >> He was standing right here. >> And I can tell you what kind of car was it >> and then shot that way. >> Go over there. Here, I'm going to have somebody else talk with you in a second. Okay. All right. Are you hurt? Are you shot? >> No, man. I was kind of like dip behind the car, dude. I thought it was just a guy and a girlfriend arguing and I thought she was getting out of the car and the next thing all of a sudden, man, he got out, >> had a pistol in his hand. He was standing right here and shot like three, four times that way and then shot that way >> at you or at somebody or >> that. But I was kind of behind the car and back in the car and he was in like a >> Did he hit anything? >> I don't think so. But I really wasn't going to pop out and say anything to him. You know what I'm saying? >> All right. You know who he was? >> I have no idea. Never seen a dude. >> White dude, black dude. >> White dude, Dodge Durango. Kind think like either silver or gold color kind of >> the suspect vehicle is going to be a silver gold color Dodge Durango. According to my witness here, >> man, >> you good? You need medical? >> No, dude. I'm just female or anything. >> I have no idea. I didn't see her, man. She never got out of truck. She just said kept saying he was going to go to jail. Whatever. that he's going to go to jail. >> Yep. >> All right. >> West have Arctic check the LPRs at Summerland as well. >> All right, hang out for a second. All right, boss. >> Yeah. >> I mean, he was standing like right there. >> How many rounds do you think he fired all together? >> At least three or four the first time and probably at least two or three the second time. >> He was facing that way the first time and he was facing that way the second time. >> All right. Was he shooting at somebody specifically or just man come out? Dude, >> gun come out. Him and his girl are arguing and you just hear pop pop. >> You got the car and you stand right here in the sidewalk right in front of the car and you facing that shot. I don't know what he shot at. >> All right, just hang out for a second, boss. All right. >> Y >> So, right now, we're just looking for some gel casing. See if anybody's hurt. This has come out as a drive by shooting. And we are just right now doing a canvas and seeing what we can figure out. >> It doesn't sound like anybody was actually hit. >> All right. Anybody else here see what happened? >> I came out to throw my trash out and that's when I saw him get off the car and started shooting exactly where he's standing. >> All right. Was it a white dude, black dude, Hispanic dude? >> How are you? Yeah. driving um a Durango 910 >> like I like old like >> an older Durango. >> Yes. Like I would say 90. >> Did he shoot at somebody or >> I thought he was shooting at him. >> Okay. Yeah. You said he didn't shoot at him. >> He just got off right there and they started shooting at him. >> Okay. Yeah. He said it wasn't at him. So that's why we're trying to figure out. >> It wasn't him. He was standing like more farart, but he was just shooting off rounds. People right there. They say they were shooting over there, too. >> Yeah. getting some consistent eyewitness accounts. Dodge Durango, white man. >> Good news is it seems that no one was hit. >> Did you get a license plate or anything? >> No, I wish I had a camera or something because >> it was only a white male that you >> related to all this and he just gets rid of it. Can >> I video? They're >> still investigating that driveby shooting. They've been looking at video, talking to witnesses. Looks like they've got some video here. Was there anything before that or was the only gunshots there? like >> Okay. So, before did you guys hear anything? So, I see the video. He walks around the backside. that weren't recorded that you want to give you a quick update uh on a situation we were following that driveby shooting in Lee County. Well, we've just been informed that the shooter was identified from that video and charged with reckless discharge of a firearm. >> Sounds like uh >> sounds like it's going to be a familial stabbing. Maybe a girlfriend, boyfriend, girlfriend to dad, something like that. Suspect is still inside the house at this time. 64. Come on, brakes. Come on, brakes. Okay. So, the suspect is going to be white female in her 40s. Uh, the victim is going to be ter. So, it sounds like it is a domestic stabbing. Sounds like the victim is a man in his 40s. Be on scene here shortly. We'll go with the county guys since they might not have anyone with them. >> Okay. So, the suspect should be inside the house, >> and the suspect uh tried to stab RP and RP's girlfriend yesterday as well. >> So, this is an ongoing issue. They tried to stab them yesterday as well. Let's kill our lights here. South Dayton. Oh, this might be our suspect. >> Stop for a second. What's your name? >> Stop. What is it? >> Kathy >> Central. I'm 1025 with a female. What was the suspect name? >> Hold on. >> What's the name of the suspect? >> Staging for this call. >> Ma'am, do me a favor. Keep your hands where I can see them. Where are you coming from? No one injures usect. >> Hey, let's find out who she is. >> What's your name, ma'am? >> K. >> Do you have anything with your name on it? >> Yeah, my ID. >> Can you get your ID real quick? >> Anything in there first? Any weapons? No. >> Can you guys go with her? >> Yep. >> All right, we're going to push on the house. They have her. This female was walking away from the the scene itself. Hers says Kathy. All right. Kathy, we're after Karen. >> Karen. Kathy. Who's Karen? >> Who's Karen? >> Hey, let's bypass. >> Who's Karen? >> Okay, we'll go down with you. >> Thank you. So, that female we just stopped, I I can't identify whether that's who we're after or not. So, we're going to leave her with them. We're going to bypass and push up to the house and see if she's still potentially on scene. If that is the suspect, we have plenty officers out. >> What's your name? >> I'm his girlfriend. You're whose girlfriend? You hurt? >> I'm here. No, no, I'm not hurt. I'm the one that came and got him. >> Okay. Oh, >> the the RP's girlfriend. >> Where are you coming from? 10:30. >> I was standing outside. I can't I didn't want to be in the house right now. >> Okay. Is someone stabbed? >> No. So, he came I heard his alarm cuz he parked his car in front of our duplex and I heard the alarm go off. So, then I look outside and he's running. He's like, "She's trying to stab me. She's trying to stab me. She's trying to stab my truck." And he got in the car real fast and sped off. And then the neighbor seen her running with the knife and then she ran back. It's like a a back door to get in there spot and she ran. >> You guys want to hang out with her? Figure out if she's involved. The three of us will move up. >> Okay. >> There's a white female walking down the street back there. Jumped out with her and then she's walking down the street. We're looking for 10:30, right? One central. >> Hey, can we >> We don't know yet. We keep getting out with people in the street. >> Trailblazer by the name of uh >> So Karen is the stabber. Now they're talking about a terrance being someone who stabbed tires. might have stopped way short. >> I'd rather stop way short than up on it. >> What's that address, Carl? On your side. >> What's your name? >> What's your name? My name is Michael. Why? >> What address you live? >> I don't got no problem with you. >> That's fine. What's his address? >> What's your address here? >> Why you going my address? >> What's your name, sir? >> All right. So, you see them being very careful as they approach this scene. Gentlemen, good evening. We go right back out to Daytona Beach where there is that report of a stabbing there. You see a number of officers now approaching the location. They've already stopped a couple of people along the way. Other officers talking to them. >> This one right here. >> Yep. I got you. Did we get a unit number? I'm going stay with him. I'm not seeing anything through there. Just keep an eye on that door for me, bud. You got a broken window right there. >> What else? >> I was on a THC in the beginning of shift yesterday. Uh phone numbers in that you can link that please. >> I'll do No movement over here. >> Which unit is still with the RP? At this point, we're still just trying to determine who's all involved, if anyone's stabbed, if anyone's in here stabbed. We're watching the back door in case anyone runs out when they go and clear the house. At this point though, from everyone we've contacted, it sounds like some tires got stabbed, which I'll take that over someone getting stabbed any day. At this point, we're just assisting outside. >> Also on the scene, K9 detective Roger >> Lawson down the road. >> Damn, for real. Hands up. Hands up. Hands up. Just listen. Step outside. Step outside. >> Roger. Don't Don't let go of this house. Keep your hands up and turn around. Face away from me. Turn around and face away. Put your phone on the ground. >> Face away and walk back to the sound of my voice. >> Face away from us. >> Walk back to the sound of my voice. Keep your hands up. >> Keep your hands up. >> We're coming in contact with a female. >> Can I just I I didn't do anything, sir. I didn't do anything. >> Got it. 51 central bedroom. They got the door closed. That's right here. She said there's nobody else in the house. >> She said nobody else in there. >> Yeah. >> Hey Jay. >> Sorry. >> It's a It's a two houses. >> It's two. >> Yeah. Timmy's talking. >> Okay. >> Hey Jay. SUV going to the hospital. I'm trying to get >> this back to the hallway. >> Yeah. >> No, I'm sorry. >> Just wait. >> Okay. county's in the back saying that she said go in clear. It's two houses. >> Two houses. >> Yes. >> Can we get her name? That's what That's what Countyy's saying in the back. >> I don't know. >> No, but she's saying this house the front. This this >> is okay. >> 31. >> So, at this point, we're in contact with a female and a male. We're still working on getting charges from wherever he's at with the reporting party down the block. We're just going to hold the house at this point. >> Not going to be needed for Well, we have Junior in front, not Terence Senior. >> Hey guys, we're still trying to figure out. >> So, it sounds like the uh the female that came out might might be the suspect. At this point, we're still trying to locate an actual victim of a stabbing, but it sounds like there's been prior here um both yesterday as well as today for either an attempted stabbing or >> a actual stabbing. So, we're going to uh clear the post. >> Slow and deliberate. Slow and deliberate. Daytona Beach Police Department, Blush County Sheriff's Office. Let us know if you're in here. Do it now. But they were going into the house to see if they could potentially find the victim and maybe even another suspect. >> Have somebody hold this open door though just in case. >> Do you have another Well, you're not even working, right? They they've already >> taken one person, it seems, into custody, but they believe there may have been more than one suspect. >> Just an update, there's no there's nobody else inside, so that's a good thing. But as of right now, like I said, uh it sounds like the female >> suspect is uh is in custody. >> This is the only county guy I've seen go from there. 50 >> car >> he is not injured >> and he is on his way back to June and Nova so we can make contact with him >> victim is just hold that door I'll try to get someone to replace you go ahead and let rescue >> go back to service >> okay >> I confirmed that you were not injured >> I just want to make sure because we clear this house that it's secure one of the county guys. Yeah, >> you left that beach guy back there. >> Yeah, >> go ahead. >> Got to be 13A as of right now. >> 13A. >> He's on his way back. The victim's on his way back to uh >> someone's need to get county because there's an independent witness that says she tried to stab him. >> Correct. Multiple times. >> I'll get real quick. >> It does sound like the actual victim has now been located and he's on his way back. So >> going from uh going from there, we'll uh we'll turn it over to county because this is ultimately county's jurisdiction. So that would be Valuchia County. But Captain Rizzo, this is kind of a perfect example of what police deal with all the time. They come onto a scene, they've got a report of something, but there's a lot of uncertainty, right? They don't know exactly what happened. They don't know who's there. They don't know who's not there. They're trying to piece it together as they move forward. Well, and as you heard him just say, an independent witness. That's what's so important to us and critical because we kind of want that independence from being directly involved. You have people walking away from a hot scene. Then courts across the country have agreed on the fact it gives police the ability to make an entry into a house, not for the purposes of uncovering evidence, but for life-saving measures. So, we don't know if there's a suspect in there or somebody who's hurt, stabbed. So life saving first, but they have to make that entrance strategically. So if you notice, it's called a breach and hold. The door gets open, but we're not rushing in. We have to communicate and insert.
