No. Now it's a resisting charge. On the 1st of January 2023, officers responded to a disturbance in New Jersey after reports of a fight. As they arrived, they heard glass shattering and spotted 30-year-old Sha Laros. He had allegedly knocked over a recycling bin before kicking a parked car. What? What's going on, man? I want to go home, man. I just want to go home. Body cam footage shows when officers reach the area. Man acting aggressively on the street. Bro, come on. Do something. Come on. Don't knock over my hat. The guy. I swear to God. Dude, you just knocked over on my recycle. Yo, hey, come back here. Come back here. I'm not going to run after you. Come back here. Yo, stop. Stop. Come back here and stop. Stop reaching for something. I am doing nothing. What are you doing? I'm not doing nothing. I'm mind. You're minding your business. That's why you're kicking cars and knocking over garbage cans. Bro, he was talking He was talking out of his mouth. What? What's going on, man? I want to go home, man. I just want to go home. Where do you live? Huh? Where do you live? Come over here. I live on Elm. You live on Elm? What are you doing down here? Huh? Where? I'm just sitting. It's New Year's. I'm not doing nothing. You're not doing nothing? No. So, what's up with the bottles in the car? Huh? Why you kicking the car and throwing the bottles? I saw you do it. Yeah, I did. Because I was a little upset in front of Calamari Sergeant. I was a little upset. He's not the victim. Huh? I was a little upset. I'm not going to lie. I was upset. Okay, I just go home, man. I I don't want to I don't want to I don't want to talk about this, man. The guy was talking out he he was coming out here. I mean, he swung at me and then he missed. But I ain't even swing. So, what' you do after we left after you sitting on the bench? He was swinging at me. I didn't do anything to him. Okay. Well, something had to happen. I didn't do nothing. All right. So, there's three people that are going to tell me a different story from what you are. No, but he but he did. Okay, but he swung at me. That's all I was doing. I was I mean he swung at me and I duck I ducked it. You know what I mean? I swung it. I swung I got you. I hear you, bro. I ducked it and I mean I I missed it. He missed it. Yeah, I hear you. I ain't do anything. I was in my office. I was I was I was going to build some and I saw that you guys came and I didn't know why he came until I saw him on the bench. Before you guys came, I had dialed you guys, but I was still on um you know, it's like the dial by name directory or if you want dispatch, and I left it there while I was talking to him through the door. Okay. This was uh one of my guys in the kitchen popped outside to open the door for two of the servers that came running back in. I didn't know why. Then they explained to me, "Oh, some guy was out there uh trying to holler the way he said, trying to holler." And then when my kitchen guy came in, had them come in, he was trying to get tough on my kitchen guy. That's when I called you guys, but I was talking to him through the window because my kitchen guys don't speak English. So I was like, "What's the problem?" He's like, "Yo, open the door." And he started doing this with the door. I'm not opening. Get the I want to talk to him. I want to talk to him. I happens whatever. He looked a little high, a little drunk. I didn't thought nothing of it. He walked away. My guys waited a few minutes. I was like, "Guys, cuz it's like five of them." I was like, "Don't touch anybody. Leave him the alone. Go home when you leave." But I never got in touch with anybody through dispatch. Okay, whatever. I come outside now after you guys left and I saw that he was still there. I thought he was talking to himself cuz I don't have audio on my cameras. He was talking to Jay. He's my neighbor. That's his bedroom. Yeah. So, I get it. He even tells me, "Dude, there's people outside. Can you like tell your customers to go to the corner with them and smoke?" Jay's an aggressive human being. Whatever. It's the front of his house. He was just telling the guy, I guess. By the time I got out there, Jay was already outside. Get the out of here. You You're Jay went like this. He got up and that was that. That's when I called you guys right after. Then he he knew we called the cops. So that's when he got up, stopped acting tough, and then useless. Yeah. He knocked over the bottles and all that bull. Can I ask you guys a question? How come nobody asked him to take his mask off? There's no reason to. Okay. I mean, if he has I would I would like to see his face. If he hasn't committed a crime, we have no reason to ask him to show his The only reason I would like to see from him really, I mean, the first call was him, you know, apparently he was yelling outside. We get there, his comments can be on the back. So, like I said, you put yourself in my position when I completely and there's nothing going on. I I can't even compel ID from the guy. So, I mean, now that he was involved in a dispute, I can, you know, try and get some ID off him, but there's no way with this whole the way this world is now with these No, I completely get it. That's the reason why to show us his face. That's crazy. The man insists he did nothing wrong, claiming self-defense after someone swung at him. Officers remind him they told him to go home. He admits to yelling, but denies causing any serious trouble. Two, three. I ain't doing anything. It's New Year's, man. I was just sitting by the bench. I hear you. I was sitting by the I was just doing nothing. Let him talk to the people and see what the story. All you can do is just wait right now. Don't get me wrong, I was yelling at him, but I ain't doing anything. All right. Like I said, let them talk. What's your last name? I'm tired. Sean Sean Lar Ro. I ain't do I ain't doing nothing. I was I was sitting by the bench. It's New Year's, you know what I mean? I don't get me wrong, I was yelling. Yeah. But I wasn't doing nothing and he swung at me. I mean, and I mean, he tried to get aggressive. He swung it at me and I I ducked it. Mhm. I swung back. I mean, he missed. He tried to hit me in my drawer. I ain't even I ain't I ain't swing back at him after that. I'm like, bro, you about to go in the house. New Year's, man. I was just sitting by the bench mind. I told you to go home. Remember that? Huh? I told you to go home. Huh? I told you to go home. Go home. You just came here. Why you telling me to go home? Remember I came here earlier and I told you you didn't come here. You I didn't even see you. He was there. I was there. No, he was not. Yes, he was. You told me you live on M Street. Remember? Yeah, but you was not. That was not you. It was a white police officer. You didn't see you never saw me over there? No, I did not. Wow. No, I did not. I did not see you. I told you to go home cuz it's it's 11 11:35. You did not. You'll leave around that. I did not see you. I got you, man. It's all good. It's okay. But I did not see you. Okay. And after that, man, after this, I will go home. You know what I mean? I told you, man. I don't want to, you know, I mean, I don't want to argue or I mean, you throw punches and I mean, I'm not that person. I'm sitting there. He trying to get aggressive and I mean he like what you going to do? He swung at me and I ducked it. You know what I mean? He tried to hit me in my face and I'm not going to I'm not going to d that right. He hit me in my face. And just so you know the camera is recording, right? It's okay. It's okay. We are recording. It's all right. I'm had a mask down. I'm not I'm not You know what I mean? It doesn't matter. I'm not I'm not the person that to be hitting people. You know what I mean? hitting the people in the face and stuff. I mean, he he's swinging at me, you know what I mean? I ducked it. You have any ID on you, bro? Yeah, I have ID. But at the end of the day, I live I told you I live on L. Can I have it? Yes, for the record. 249 out. Can I have your mean? It is what it is, man. Sometimes it happens like that. It's but it's New Year's, man. I'm sitting minding my business and he talking about I'm yelling and stuff. That's what he said. That's what he said. They arrest him for criminal mischief and when he resists, they add a resisting charge. He repeatedly claims he did nothing as they detain him. New It's New Year, man. I'm minding my business. They call the cops and you got to show up. That's I understand. I understand that it's New Year's, but I guess you just cuz New Year's our jobs don't stop, right? Somebody got to call. We got to call. Exactly. But at the end of the day, I What are you swinging at me, bro? I'm not accusing you. I'm not saying you, but I'm saying he was swinging at me. I mean, I ducked it. Yeah. And then he lucky I ain't really really know what I mean cuz I'm a type of person that if somebody swing at me, but I I go off. Yeah, I hear. All right, my man. That happened in a park. What happened over there with the car? Did you kick the car? No, I didn't. All right. Well, two officers saw you kick the car. Okay. So, what's going to happen now is you're going to be placed under arrest for criminal mischief. What? Yeah. All right. So, you're under arrest. I'm under arrest. I'm not in behind your back. Whether it's a guy resisting arrest, a high-speed chase, or a suspect claiming they know their rights, cops have to be ready for anything. And unfortunately, hesitation can be the difference between getting home safely and not making it home at all.
