on May 13th 2023 Rob Huff exited his gated property and was driving down the road when officer Hudson of the susex County Sheriff's Office signaled for a traffic stop confused but compliant Mr Huff pulled over immediately took out his phone and began recording the encounter Hey sir how you doing I was doing fine what's the problem I got a shoot range or something over there my property yeah list I ain't coming your attitude I'm filing a complaint that somebody filed okay so you have a shooting range over there and everything no just my property that's your property yeah okay so people currently shooting over there now what's going on so we get first we get a Call of shot crow in the area they were're in the county yeah listen anytime shots fired in the UR you got the ID on you sir I haven't committed a crime right now is an investigation going on Sir for shot in the area and I need to make know who I made contact with I haven't committed a crime withs Sheriff I identify myself I haven't committed a crime sir what's your name I'm not I haven't committed a crime what's your name sir my name's robs pleasure to meet you Hudson yes sir all right so we got to call the shot Fring area do you own you say you own that land up there yes sir okay how long you you live up there or just laying just laying okay hold on okay so originally call the shots firing area anytime shots going to I'm not going to ID myself I haven't broken the law step out the vehicle for me sir in the footage officer Hudson claimed he initiated the traffic stop in response to a shots fired call from a resident however Mr Huff rightfully refused to provide identification asserting he hadn't committed a crime legally for a traffic stop to be constitutional officers typically need reasonable suspicion that a crime has been or is being committed officer Hudson lacked solid grounds to believe Mr Huff had fired shots especially considering the rural area's hunting regulations which permit shooting under certain conditions therefore the stop appears to be unjustified and potentially unconstitutional I don't uh don't consider sent to any Searchers or C I'm not searching vehicle I need to know have do on I need to know who I made contact with sir uh I haven't broken a law can you articulate a law that I've broken right now you must identify yourself sir because I have made contact in this inves law I'm not going to I'm exercising my Fifth Amendment right so so now you're refusing to identify yourself to me you haven't articulated a crime is an ongoing investigation of shots fired only underscores the Injustice the officers claim that they can seize or detain without a committed crime is false serving to rationalize their unlawful actions broken or done something wrong okay well technically we have enough to stop you for the incident that we're investigating and technically if you want to get into the aspects of the law you're just driving down the road we have a right to see a dri's l of registration there's Supreme Court case law on that yeah if if I violated a law okay what's the law what's the law that I violated operating a vehicle on the roads to the commwell that's that's against the law it's not against the law but once once once you've been once you have been stopped for a reasonable suspicion you don't need problem cause crime you can't articulate a reports he falsely alleged that Mr Rob verbally abused him in a violent manner claiming it threatened his safety however the footage clearly shows Mr Rob was not aggressive these repeated falsehoods charged with using abusive language despite it being irrelevant to the investigation in New Jersey to be charged with such an offense the language must be used in a public public place with the intent to offend spoken loudly enough to disturb others however Mr Rob was on private property and did not use offensive language loudly officer Hudson's charge seemed unjustified serving more as a means to
