During my 29 years as a police officer
here in Florida, most car thieves keep
driving. These three stopped at a
Hooters in Iowa and then tried to get
out the back door.
>> Is there a Is there a manager I can talk
to?
>> Oh, you have a manager
Well, you guys are never a good sign.
>> That's not always true.
Maybe not a good sign when you're
around, but
>> What?
Check my record.
I've been good.
>> Okay, America, let's have this talk
here. She
behind the bars is trying to be cute.
She's First of all, they said something
when he walked in. It was just like
hopefully you're not here for me. And
it's like anytime you're in a uniform
and you walk in somewhere, somebody has
to say something like that. It's like
the old dad joke or your embarrassing
uncle or whatever. Somebody has to say
something.
>> You're the manager here?
>> I am.
>> We're requesting access to your guys'
camera to see if that somebody
came out of that vehicle over there.
>> Which van has
>> The silver Equinox. It's reported as
stolen.
>> Can I ask what's going on?
>> A stolen car.
>> Yeah,
what's going on is you guys are working
right now and should be working. That's
what's going on.
>> Did he steal a car?
>> No, somebody stole a car, but we're
trying to see who it is.
>> Oh, that car was stolen?
Oh.
Is there anybody in it?
>> Nope.
Uh manager here is calling her regional
manager to look at cameras.
You don't think so?
>> Uh it
I don't know if it
>> It wasn't not here when I pulled up if
that makes a difference.
So it has it has to be somebody who
>> Uh the owner of the
of the vehicle said it was here. They
have it like GPS tracking or whatever it
is.
>> I need to do that with my car.
>> Yeah, you do.
>> I wish somebody would try to steal my
car.
It's a cute little car, too.
>> It's so cute.
They're not here for us, so we're good.
Not yet.
I will be once you if you don't take
that 49ers hat off.
Oh, a little fun jiring, hey.
Don't like the 49ers, hey.
>> Uh
that camera doesn't even point over
there. It only points to this door.
>> front entrance?
>> Yeah.
>> Okay.
Did you ask if they saw it or if
>> when they got here?
>> And nobody saw it?
Uh that one said she saw it she didn't
even notice it before she came in here,
so or she got to work.
>> All right.
>> Uh if it doesn't point over there then
it's it's fine.
>> Do you ever go downtown, Moline?
>> No, you're not.
>> Um you look familiar.
>> Not from over there.
>> Oh, I got to do my job.
>> Okay.
>> You don't go downtown, Moline?
>> I don't.
I hate going in there every god time.
Well, I'm going to I'm going to finish
my 80 here.
>> Why will a fan I've never seen somebody
so red.
>> I'm not red at all.
>> No.
>> No. She came up to me she goes, "You
ever go downtown, Moline?" I go, "No."
"You look familiar."
>> You don't even have a key he bro.
>> Okay.
>> They're already watched the video.
>> What do you mean they already watched
the video?
>> the video. You clicked him and you went
from the car.
>> Have a seat, please.
>> That's why that's why we're here.
>> Go ahead and have a seat.
>> They don't have [ __ ] to do with me. Have
a seat.
>> What am I What am I having a seat
>> Look, you're under arrest. Either have a
seat or I'm going to put you in the car.
>> Hey, go sit down.
>> Why why has she been so mean like
>> Cuz cuz you're not listening to
directions.
>> I'm just telling you I didn't do
anything.
>> Okay.
>> That's all I'm saying.
>> But you made matters worse by tensing up
on them.
>> I didn't tense up on you. I just asked
you what was going on. I didn't know
what was going on.
>> Have a seat in there, please.
Have a seat.
>> And then you go up through my stuff. You
didn't even ask me to go through my
stuff.
>> for an ID.
>> You cannot go through no female stuff.
>> You can't go through
female stuff, apparently. New rule.
Slide your feet in the car.
>> Geez.
That's why I'm wasting here. So that's
ironic.
>> Hey, so you're under arrest. Go inside
your feet and okay?
>> Okay, can I get my stuff? Y'all just
hold my
>> We have it.
>> Okay, then I I want to hold my own
>> No, you're not allowed to hold it.
>> What do you mean I'm not allowed to hold
my stuff?
>> I'm going to She looks at them like
they're aliens. What do you mean I'm not
allowed to hold my own stuff? Your hands
are cuffed behind your back. You're
under arrest. You're in the back of a
police car. No, you don't get to hold
your own stuff. It just doesn't work
that way.
>> Can I Can I
Can I talk to somebody else? You've been
so mean to me and nobody's telling me
nothing. Can I please talk
>> We're telling you straight up.
>> Okay, can I talk to him? I'll come on
this side and talk to him.
>> No.
>> Sit down and he'll come over here.
>> Close your window and I'll talk to you
through the door or the window.
>> Through the door or the window? No, I
want to talk to No, I want to talk to I
want to know what the [ __ ] is going on,
exactly.
>> He's going to talk to you. Just sit
down.
>> Sit down. Close your window and I'll
talk to you.
>> I know I'm not bullshitting or nothing.
>> You have to sit all the way in.
>> And I'm sorry for making you feel like
I'm on some I'm just I want to
understand what's going on.
>> Slide all the way in. We got to close
the door. Last time.
>> Thank you. Awesome.
>> Okay, can you tell me what's going on?
>> Yes, I'm going to roll the window down.
>> What you got to roll the window Why you
can't just tell me what's going on right
now?
>> I'm not going to do that. It was already
tough to get you inside
Oh, we didn't see it yet.
>> They just said, "Hey, they're going out
the back."
>> Uh they started walking out the back.
And it seemed a little off cuz as soon
as I went in there I noticed them that
they were sitting in the corner of the
of the restaurant.
>> Yeah.
>> And I didn't think anything of it at the
time, but they got up as soon as they
saw me and started walking like walking
out.
>> I almost said like, "Hey, maybe we
should put someone out here." And I
thought, uh, "What are the odds
someone's going to be in there eating?"
I mean, we'd been out here a while, too.
Unless they just didn't see you.
>> Well, it was weird cuz they got up.
Started I think she walked towards the
bathroom.
And then
>> Gotcha. Well, she's from Illinois.
It's ironic that everyone's from there.
>> Have you read her yet?
>> No. I just got off the phone with
dispatch.
Um, I'm hoping someone can see the
video, especially if it shows her
getting out with them. I'm sure they all
came and got out together.
>> Yeah.
>> That's easy.
Two on one on three.
>> Did you talk to the
>> I talked to the manager. She said she
has to call her regional manager.
2729 through Illinois.
>> Okay.
>> I didn't know something was going on
there.
>> So, that vehicle up front, the Cadillac,
is stolen.
Uh, no. From Illinois.
Okay.
>> What do you mean it's stolen?
>> It's reported stolen.
>> How was it stolen?
>> The owner reported it stolen.
>> When did the owner report the car
stolen?
>> Um, that I I don't know, but they
reported stolen and then their tracker,
the company called us and said, "Hey,
this car that's reported stolen is
tracking to the Twin Peaks lot."
So, then we come up here with them in
the parking lot.
Then we go inside and see, "Hey, can you
pull up cameras to see who might have
gotten out of this?"
You three came came in and got out and
walked into Hooters from that car.
So, that's why you're detained.
And there may be charges, but when we
ask you to do something like, "Hey,
you got to come over here and do
something."
>> But why are you guys talking to me like
there's something going on? That's why I
was asking you what was going on.
>> This, uh,
this is clever. I'm not 1,000% sure that
they've seen the cameras, uh, but he
just laid out the whole story just to
see what her reaction would be, uh,
because they already have her under
arrest for something else, and she
didn't deny anything.
>> I'm not going to ask you questions about
the car until I read you your Miranda.
You are correct in that. The only things
I am going to ask is just to confirm
your information, which we can do prior
to Miranda,
um just because I'm identifying. So I
got your ID.
Uh is your address still in Illinois?
>> You got my double heart.
>> Are you Marquis Fleming?
>> That's it say superstar cash money.
That's my hus- my ex-husband.
>> Superstar cash money.
>> That's my double heart. It say superstar
cash money.
>> Superstar cash money. I'm sorry.
>> So what's going on right now? What's
happening?
>> the police department normal where they
filed the the stolen vehicle report.
They're going to let them know who we
have and then the owners will say, "Yes,
I want to pursue charges." or "No, I No,
I do not." So we're waiting to hear back
from them.
>> Uh if I can I'll tell you. Well
>> Real quick before we get into anything,
I got your name, birthday. What's an
address for you?
>> You got You got my You just had my ID.
>> So the ID is correct?
Sometimes people have their IDs are
expired, so that's why I asked.
>> Um I'm I'm trying to I know I'm trying
to talk to you but so we can solve all
this. I know we can so nobody got to go
to jail. I can just
>> You're right. I do have to read you your
Miranda if I'm going to ask you
questions about a crime.
Okay, so I'm going to read this to you.
Um because you're detained, you're in
handcuffs, you're not free to leave at
the moment.
>> Okay,
I'm just saying though. I I'm trying to
solve all this so nobody got to go to
jail. I can just make one phone call. We
can handle all this.
>> Okay. Give me a second. Let me read this
to you and then if you want to chat
further, you can or whatever you want to
talk about. You have the right to remain
silent. Anything you say can will be
used against you in the court of law. Do
you understand each of the rights I've
explained to you?
>> Yes.
>> You have
Now having these rights in mind, do you
Would you like to talk to me?
>> Okay. Um
the car is my uh mother's car. She gave
me the car. But I don't That's why I'm
saying I don't know how it was stolen
like she ain't called my phone or said
nothing. Everything was fine. That's why
I'm saying I don't know That's why I was
confused on what was going on.
Obviously, if I know this was going on,
do you think I'd be like You feel what
I'm saying? I don't
>> So it's your mom's car.
Uh maybe a misunderstanding. When did
you When did you
>> If I call her right now, she's going to
say she don't want to report the car
stolen. She's going to drop She's going
to drop the charges. Especially when you
tell her you were in Iowa and she don't
She's not going to want to come get her
car from no Iowa.
>> When did you pick up her car or when did
you leave with her car?
>> She gave She gave me the car
She gave me the car uh
yesterday. She gave me the car yesterday
to go to Best Buy.
I got the receipt from Best Buy. I still
have the
>> permission like I said
>> Yes, she gave me She gave me permission
to give her a car and she told me I can
go to Best Buy.
>> So you had it since yesterday?
>> Yes, she gave it to me yesterday.
>> like you Did you take it to your home
that night last night or
>> I went I went to her friend's house and
I spent the night.
>> Okay. And then what brought you to
Davenport?
>> I came to get some orders. Cuz she
didn't answer my
>> So she came So she went up there to get
Hooters, but her mom There's no way her
mom would make that trip. Like she came
there just to get Hooters. Mom is not
making that trip to get the car though.
Supposedly.
>> When I left her When I left her she was
drunk when I left her.
>> Who were the other two guys with you?
>> Those are just my friends.
>> Okay.
>> They don't have nothing to do with
nothing.
>> Why do they have the keys though?
Were they one of them driving or
>> I don't have They was They I mean all of
us were We We don't have We was all in
the car like
>> We We were all in the car, right?
That's not an answer as to why he has
the keys. She's not giving good answers.
>> If you truly were like I borrowed mom's
car and you
you had no clue why we were in here. Why
would you Why would an average person
get up from their table mid-dinner and
say let's go and not only let's go
>> Of course you're going to ask me that,
but I'm black and that's just how That's
just how I'm just I just see a whole
bunch of white people and I'm just like
what the [ __ ] is going on?
>> That makes no sense.
>> I That's how I felt though.
>> about eating dinner. You saw cops coming
and you didn't They're after us, let's
go go out the back door quick.
>> I was walking I was walking out to call
my mom. That's what I was doing. When
you seen the phone in my hand
>> But why not just do it from the table
and just say
>> Cuz we didn't know exactly what was
going on until we came outside and they
was just like
>> Why would you call your mom?
>> Why wouldn't I call my mom?
>> But why would you call You didn't even
know why we were here.
>> This is not This is not the first time
this had had She did this before. That's
what I'm saying. I told you my mom have
bipolar disorder.
>> She did what before? Cuz a minute ago
you had no clue that it was stolen.
>> The last time she did this
um I was I had her car and I was in
Skokie. I was I'm a I'm a I'm a rapper.
I was That's why I said the the ID say
superstar cash me on the ID. I'm a
rapper. So I was at the studio in Skokie
and she did the same thing. And then
when the police officer uh when they
when they when they found out it was me
who had the car in the parking lot, they
called my mom and they was and she told
them like just give her the car. I don't
want to report the car stolen. And they
just gave me the car cuz she didn't want
to come get her car from Skokie. She
does this.
That's my right-hand guy. I swear to god
I can die right now. My mom does this
all the time. The car was not stolen.
>> Wouldn't it have been easier just to if
you knew where your car was located to
say, "Hey, I don't I took the car. My
mom let me borrow it." And then we could
have just talked rather than like this
big take down that looks like you're
trying to steal the car.
>> I I was just seeing a whole bunch of
white people and I was scared. I don't I
don't even know what to talk about. I
just wanted to call my mom first to make
sure what was going on before I get to
talking to all y'all and I don't know
what's going on. I was just scared.
That's what all that was. I was trying
to walk off so I could call my mom and
see exactly what was going on.
That's all that was. I wasn't trying to
walk off none of that. When I figured
out what was going on you see I didn't
walk too far. I was trying to call I was
on the phone when y'all walked up behind
me. I was on the phone. I had the phone
to my ear. I'm on the phone trying to
call my mom to see what exactly what was
going on.
>> Yeah.
>> Cuz she do this all the time.
All the time.
>> Well, let me I'm going to get a hold of
the Rome police.
>> And and I and I
I don't know if she's going to tell
y'all that she gave me the car, but she
gave she I told her tell her she she
your daughter said you gave you supposed
to give her the car to go to Best Buy.
And she probably going to say she
probably going to say well, she wasn't
supposed to have it that long. But she
never called my phone and told me
nothing. So, how was I supposed to know
that?
It's only an hour away.
An hour or probably an hour and a half.
This is the only this is the only
Hooters that they closed the one in
Springfield down.
>> Let me let me get a hold of the Rome
police. They'll get a hold of her. I'll
tell her but I was just trying to see if
she wants to press charges or not and
then we'll kind of go from there.
Okay. I got to close the door real quick
and then I'm going to make that call.
>> I I can't I'm not allowed to just call
my mom right now so you
>> No, we're not going to call your mom so
you can have the conversation with her
while we're standing there. That's not
going to happen. We're going to call
your mom and get the story.
>> She probably and I do have a new phone
number. She probably don't have this new
number. That's what I was trying to call
and see. I just got a new number.
>> to ask her if she reported it stolen
like
>> I just got a number from T-Mobile.
>> can reach you?
>> Okay, look. I'm I'm sorry. Real real
So, you know, like I had a TextNow the
TextNow app on your phone the little
TextNow like the little fake number
thing. So, my mom that's the number she
usually called me off of, but I just got
a new number 2 days ago like an iPhone.
Like I went to T-Mobile and I told them
I I had iPhone already and I told them I
wanted to do a prepaid plan on the
phone.
>> So, her contention is, well, she should
have just called me and told me to bring
it home. Now she's saying though, well,
she doesn't have my phone number. I
changed my phone number. My own mother
doesn't know how to get a hold of me.
>> Let me call them if we can get this
figured out soon I'll let them know who
who
>> Tell her she want she could drive the
car
bring her car right now myself. That's
what she had me do last time.
>> I got you. I got to close the door quick
and then I'll come back and chat with
you once we hear
you can slide your foot in and then
>> Can I have Can I have my property?
>> It's up here in the hood. Don't go
anywhere.
>> Can I hold my property though? I want to
hold my own stuff.
>> No.
>> Hey.
I was just trying to tell you
I do apologize. I I
I didn't understand what you were
saying.
>> Hold on. Let me give you a second.
>> I just want I just wanted to tell you
when I was when I was walking off I
wasn't on the phone. I was on the phone
trying to call my mom and see what the
what was going on. I ain't mean no
disrespect towards you.
You know what I'm saying? I I just
really
>> disrespect towards you either.
>> I swear to God I didn't. I was just
trying to understand cuz my mom she got
bipolar disorder. She do this to me all
the time, right? And I don't even
understand why I keep on even borrowing
her car because when I when I when I
borrow her car she be in the right state
of mind. Like she she she seem okay.
>> She just wants to keep it real.
>> It's not a right time to start tensing
up on me, okay?
That's why I took you to the ground.
>> And then I do have a my wrist is dis- I
dislocated my wrist, too.
>> Okay.
>> That's why I was like like hold on like
it was like
>> Yes, but you were starting you were
starting to tense up on me. So,
therefore, I had to I had to put you on
the ground.
>> I'm not I mean I ain't tripping about
that. I understand cuz I we both didn't
know what the what was going I ain't
know what the what was going on. I ain't
even I'm not even mad about you tripping
on the ground cuz I know what the [ __ ]
was going on. And I'm like, could you
just could you all just tell me like
what's going on? It's like talk to me.
Like tell me first.
>> we're still going to figure out some
things, okay?
Um, I think uh my sergeant's going to
talk to your mom real quick, see what
she wants done.
Uh we're going to talk to the other uh
normal police department and see see
what they want done as well.
Uh but right now you're at least going
to jail for interference right now.
>> Her reasoning is, but I apologized.
But I kept it real.
She is stunned.
>> That's why I apologized but I didn't
know what you were doing. I didn't know
what was going on.
>> You're still going to jail for that.
Yep.
>> That's We can't just be adults. I'm I'm
going to I didn't I didn't know what was
going on. I'm telling you I was on the
phone with my mom. I wasn't trying to
interfere or nothing. I was literally
trying to call my mom. That's my right
hand. I honestly got to pee.
>> but you still interfered with it.
Whether you know it or not that or not.
That's still interference with official
acts. I can charge you.
>> How did I interfere in that? You didn't
have to put the handcuffs on me.
>> did not. I had to fight you for that.
>> No, my hands were still behind my back.
I didn't
>> You fought you
>> It was both First of all, it was two of
y'all grabbing me at the same time. So
it was like he grabbed my arm.
>> I'm not going to sit here and argue with
you but when you landed on your right
hand and arm you continued to tense up
on me and I had to pull your arm back.
>> I wasn't tensing up on you. That's what
I'm trying to tell you.
>> We can
We can sit here and argue about it all
night but I'm not going to do it. So
you're going to jail regardless, okay?
>> So I'm you like you really going to
charge me for
>> I am going to charge you for it. Yep.
>> And I'm apologizing
>> I mean
I mean it does wonder. I guess it's
great but it's not getting you out of
jail.
>> I didn't try to tense up with you.
>> Yes, you Okay.
>> You keep saying
So you're charging me
>> I am, yes.
>> What are you charging me with?
>> Interference with official acts.
>> Okay, what is that?
>> It is a simple misdemeanor.
>> A misdemeanor?
>> Yep.
>> So, I'm going to jail and I'm going to
have to sit in jail?
>> Yep.
Unless you can bond out.
>> What you mean unless I can bond out? You
really from like I did not tense up with
you.
>> Yes, you Yes, you did.
>> I'm telling you I didn't like I'm I'm
telling trying to tell you I'm I'm
pregnant you was getting like
>> Okay, classic classic excuse. I was I'm
pregnant. I tried to tell you I'm
pregnant.
>> That's not scaring me. They walked up
and grabbed them boys like that and they
didn't say nothing they just grabbed
them just put the Stop pushing me on the
ground. I'm like hold on hold on. And
then that's when you can use I was
already scared. So, I can't even get a
ticket for this or something?
>> Mhm.
I don't hand out tickets for for this.
>> So, why you giving them It was a
misunderstanding. It was a clear
misunderstanding.
That was clearly a clear Even your
officer right here he told me it was a
clear misunderstanding.
He even said it.
>> I do not believe it is clear.
>> That's what I just heard y'all talking
but that's what you're saying it but we
all He knows too. I was just explaining
to him exactly what happened. I
explained it to him.
>> Do you need medical attention?
>> I don't know. You didn't show what I
asked you. You didn't care. You just
wanted to give me a ticket and then send
me to jail. Now Now you want to ask me
cuz I'm saying something.
>> Do you need
>> You're not You're being mean.
>> I'm not being mean.
>> You're being mean to a pregnant girl. I
ain't did nothing wrong.
Huh?
>> Do you need medical attention?
>> I don't I don't know but that I don't
know what to I don't know what to say
cuz I'm not trying to be I don't want to
be stuck out here somewhere I don't know
about and going to jail and stuff. I
don't know nothing about this. This is
my first time ever being out here in my
life.
>> Well, you tell me do you need medical
attention cuz I If so, I will call an
ambulance out here. They will they will
check you.
Do you need medical attention or not?
>> I don't want to go to jail for nothing a
misunderstanding.
>> Do you need medical attention or not?
>> Can I speak to a Can I speak to a
sergeant or something?
>> You are talking to my sergeant.
>> Well, can you send him to come back
right quick, please?
>> He's coming back.
>> All right, can you send him to come
right right now cuz this is crazy. It
was a misunderstanding and I'm pregnant.
>> Do you need medical attention?
>> I don't know. I don't know but I'm I'm
feeling my I'm I can feel my My is to
beat fast cuz I don't want to go to
jail. Like, I ain't going to jail. I
can't be in jail pregnant. Like, can you
call your uh sergeant back over here?
LET'S GET HEY!
I CAN'T BREATHE UP IN THIS CAR. I'M
HIGH. I'M I'm getting ready to pass out.
>> to roll down the window?
>> I don't know, cuz you Either down a
little bit I'm going to pass out up
here. Like, I'm staying to say I can't
breathe, man. Nobody's coming to the
door. Like, like y'all want me to be
dying up in this [ __ ] car. I'm
staying to say I can't breathe. It's hot
as [ __ ] in here.
>> What's going on?
>> I want to say I don't like how I'm being
treated. I don't want to be up in this
car with this man. So, like

This footage doesn't tell us how the
case was resolved. Her account of
borrowing the car and everything she
says about her mother just comes from
her on camera. We we can't verify any of
that. The mother did tell police that
she never gave permission though. If you
like this video, watch the next one, be
safe, and don't get body cammed.
