Back up a step. >> Look, man. Look, man. Look. >> I didn't touch you. Look. >> Joel here with Body Cam Breakdown TV. Today's footage comes from Uncovered. If you want to watch the original video without my commentary or breakdown, I'll have the full footage linked below so you can watch it start to finish. Today's video starts with officers responding to a complaint involving a man who appears to have been drinking and is upset about his neighbors dogs making noise. When officers arrive, they try to understand what's been going on, but the conversation quickly becomes confrontational. The breakdown starts now. >> Uh, for the last 5 days, it's just >> Okay. >> moaning and moaning and moaning. Yeah, I was kicking on that door. >> Why were you kicking on the doors? That ain't right. >> The one door? The dog's door. >> Okay. Well, can we not do that? >> What? What? Can we get that dog out of here? Yeah. But you don't understand. in like 5 hours from now. >> Uhhuh. >> There's going to be this dog is be moaning. >> Yeah. Well, did you try to did you try to talk to management about the dog? >> The officer is asking whether he's spoken with management to get a clearer picture of the dispute and understand what's already been done to address the problem. >> Yeah. Well, did you try to did you try to talk to management about the dog because >> Yeah. Yeah. And they're like, "Oh, they're here for you. >> Where's your room at?" >> Okay. We're just going to go back to your room. Sound good? >> Yeah. >> All right. Are you staying alone in there? >> [ __ ] I I live here, man. >> Okay, that's fine. Let's Let's just go. Let's go back to 273. All right. >> Well, you from Greece? >> Yeah. Here, let's go back. >> Well, you're from Greece. >> Yeah, my family is. Let's go. Let's go. >> Let's go to the room. Keep walking. Keep walking. All right. We got a lot of >> I'm American. We got a lot of [ __ ] going on. >> But I don't like you touching me. The officer appears to be trying to deescalate the situation by getting him back to his room, but his behavior is already making that simple resolution more difficult. >> But I don't like you touching me, man. >> I didn't touch you, man. >> Now, why did you touch me? >> I don't understand why you touched me. >> I hope you have some sort of >> Yeah, I don't know why you touched me, man. >> All right, man. Hey, look, >> I didn't touch you. >> Look, we got some stuff going on, so I'm just trying to >> I didn't touch you, man. >> Okay, that's fine. And I don't know why you covered whatever you're covering. >> I'm not covering anything. You're >> got a camera going? >> Yeah, I just told you that. >> You got a camera going? >> Absolutely. >> All right. >> Asking whether the body cam is recording shifts the conversation away from the original complaint and toward the officer himself. The officer confirms that it is while keeping the interaction focused and giving him little reason to turn that question into another confrontation. >> You got a camera going? >> Absolutely. >> All right. Don't cover anything and don't touch anything. >> I didn't touch you. I'm a little guy. I'm a >> I'm a small guy. I'm 65 years old, man. Take it easy. >> But you're out here just like kicking doors and stuff causing a ruckus. >> You I am. >> You have no idea what I'ming doing. Come here. Come here. Come here. >> You're staying right here. >> Come here. Come here, Jerk. Come here, Jerk. Even though he wants to show the officer something, the officer doesn't know where he's trying to lead him or what he's going toward. Stopping him keeps the interaction in one controlled location while the officer continues figuring out what's going on. >> Come here. Come here. Come here. You're staying right here. >> Come here. Come here, Jerk. Come here, Jerk. >> Don't touch me. Why did you touch me? Why did you touch me like that? >> You shouldn't have touched me. I didn't touch You just touched me. Okay. >> Do you have that camera going? >> I told you it is. >> All right. Good. Don't touch me. I didn't touch you. Why did you put your hands on me? >> What did you just What did you just told? >> Don'ting put your hands on me. >> His reaction to being stopped is becoming increasingly confrontational, which changes the officer's immediate concern. The officer now has to manage his behavior while trying to keep the original dispute from turning into a larger confrontation. Why did you put your hands on me? What did you just told that? What did you just told off? >> Don'ting put your hands on me. >> Then stop going over here. >> I'm I'm I'm going. >> This area is off. >> What is this? A wrestling match? Come on. >> There's a police investigation back there. So, you're going to avoid that area. Okay. That's where we're at. Sound good? >> Don't put your [ __ ] hands on me. Is that camera going? >> I told you it is. Don't put your hands on me. >> His behavior is becoming increasingly aggressive, but the officers are still giving him an opportunity to calm down and cooperate. At this point, the question is how long they can continue managing this through conversation if his behavior doesn't change. >> Don't put your [ __ ] hands on me. Is that camera going? >> I told you it is. >> Don't put your hands on me. >> All right, you got that, jerk off. Don't put your f Don't put your [ __ ] hands on me. >> You need to back up, >> [ __ ] No, you need to pack up. I'm not [ __ ] doing anything, jerk off. You understand that? Do not [ __ ] touch me. You touched me. I didn't touch you. Do you understand that? Do you understand that? >> Look, man, you got to back up. >> Back up a step. >> His aggression is now becoming a distance issue as he continues getting too close to the officers. They're telling him to back up to maintain a safer reactionary gap and establish a clear boundary. If he keeps ignoring that space, it becomes much harder for the officers to manage this through conversation alone. >> I didn't touch you. Do you understand that? Do you understand that? >> Look, man. You got to back up. >> Back up a step. >> Look, man. Look, man. Look. >> This is the mistake that changes the entire interaction. After repeatedly being told to maintain his distance, he crosses that boundary by making physical contact with an officer. At that point, the officers have a much more immediate reason to establish control rather than continue allowing him to dictate the distance. >> I didn't touch you. Look, man, I didn't touch you. >> I told you to stay away. Relax. Relax. Relax. Relax. Relax, relax, relax, relax. Once he's on the ground, the officer's priority is getting his hands controlled and securing him in handcuffs. His continued resistance makes that more difficult because they have to control his movement while trying to safely complete the arrest. >> Calm down. I'm 65 years old. Well, >> then, sir, you shouldn't be mouththing off to the police like this. >> You should not be mouththing off like this. >> I'll pick these off like this. >> Oh, please. >> We're going to pick you up in two seconds. Okay, ready? 3.6. >> The incident ended with the man being taken into custody after officers brought him under control and secured him in handcuffs. He was charged with disorderly intoxication, resisting arrest, and battery on an officer. What started as a complaint involving his neighbors dogs changed as his behavior toward the officers became increasingly confrontational and eventually turned physical. The officers initially gave him space to communicate, but once those physical boundaries were crossed, their focus shifted from conversation to control. What are your thoughts on how the officers handled this incident? Let me know in the comments below.
